My very first Detective Conan/Magic Kaito fanfic ! I am so new in this fandom, but ShinKai really stole my heart, and since I am a big fan of horror, Romance and Yandere Boys I quickly wrote a chapter already ! Anyway note that police scenes or detective stuff are not my strongest subject, but I still will try to keep the thrill and mystery on the run ! There are some changes like obviously since it's a AU, Conan and Shinichi are brothers, Shinichi is just a normale highschool kid, Black Kid is a serial killer who steals gems (only the red ones)
Ran will also have big part in this story, some OC's will appear as well, some cult stuff that we can't miss, I will try to update much as possible but it's slow fic meaning it has slow updating !

- Chapter 1 -

The night was cold and little damp as it was raining the whole day, but now the sky was clear as the stars dusted the darkness above them .
A mad giggle escapes his lips before he could help himself, but who can blame him now ? He was having so much fun right now ! As he was sitting on the roof on top of the building he just broke in, as he admires the view his hostage thought otherwise . "Please let me go ." The guard begged as Black Kid stood next to him, the thief ignores him as he admires the red gem in all her glory . "How beautiful ." He said in a whisper .
He sat down on the edge as he shows the gem to the guard, almost shoving the gem into the man's eye . The man whimpers but the thief ignores it as a smile appears on his face ."Is it not beautiful ? Something like this in this ugly world ~"
The man tries to say something but all he could mutter was nonsense, the words were not even words as fat tears of fear streamed down . "I wonder if when I can show him the world how I see it .. What do you think mister guard ." He grins with a maniac grin at the man who looks at him back with wide eyes, shaking like a leaf on the rooftop of the tall building ."Pl-please d-d-don't .."
Kid looked at him for a moment before he burst out laughing, his voice loud echoes through the night ."Now now don't stop my fun so soon mister guard ~"
He looked behind him at the lump not so far away from them ."Or do you want to end up like your friend here ?"
The corpse behind them was cut all up, as blood pooled under it and guts laying out of it's stomach . Eyes looked wide up at the dark sky, afraid and dead dusted those lifeless eyes .
"All I wanted was this gem, mister was bit mean to point a gun at me right ? He deserved it right ? Right ? Right ?!" And he laughed again as he got up pulling the other with him, the man screamed as his body hangs barely on the edge . His breathing got harder as he looked below him, a few cars passed them as a few people on the side walk none of them notice anything .
A different light starts to cover the sky ."Well it's time for me to go, I see you downstairs alright !" The man starts to shake as his body tries to stay on the rooftop . But Black Kid keeps him firmly over the edge .
"You know what they say, keep your eyes up don't look what's under ." Black Kid just nodded as he explained some science stuff to a dumb kid .
"Please don't ..." The man whispered as he shook his head .
"Keep looking up the view is better at top ."
"No .." Man become desperate .
"Well see you have a nice trip ."
"Rot in hell .." Was all the man said as he then fell .
Black Kid kept watching as the man falls to his death .
He become almost a black spot, before red splatters like a blossoming flower .
"How beautiful .." He mutters before he turned around and left .
As people were around the dead man in panic, and fear and horror on their faces . None of them noticed the boy dressed in all black, with a hoddie covering his face . He did not spare them a glance and they don't him spare one, and he walks freely back home .
Silly old mister guard ..
I am already in hell ..
As the red gem burns into his palm, as he holds it in his pocket .
As daylight completely breaks the day, the whole area was surrounded with cops ."
"It was him again ." Megure Juzo looked grim as he stared at the corpse ."The other one is on the roof ?" He asked Takagi who nodded ."Yes Shimuza Toge, 31 years old he works here for just 4 months ."
"And this is ?"
"Oda Ritsuke, 60 years old, in other 2 months he would have gone on retirment ."
Inspector Megure walked inside with Takagi right behind him ."How about the surveillance camera ?"
"They don't work, it seems they let some guy come yesterday to fix whatever the issue was ."Sato said as she walked to them ."But they aren't fixed in the slightes ."
"Could it be the killer ?" Takagi asked but everyone is thinking the same thing ."Check for every evidence there is, fingers prints, hair, also check who those men talked to the last few days !"
"Yes sir !"
Inspector Megure noticed they brought the other body from the roof, the blak plastic of the bag always haunts him . No matter who is inside this bag, the smell of death always follows it .

Mori Ran was making herself ready, as her father was watching the tv with slight intrest smoking his sigaret, and the newspaper barely being read as he just stares at the screen .
"Black Kid has striken yesterday again, after stealing the Red Virgin from Tokyo's charity musuem the Akai Kitsune, 2 night guards are being bruttaly murdered by the thief .."
"Damn .. When are they going to catch that maniac ." Kogoro mutters as he blows some smoke out ."It's kinda scary .. Those poor families .." Ran sighs as she feels bad for those families that lost a beloved one ."I want you back at home when school is finished understood, we don't know when that guy would be attacking civillians when he gets bored of those gems ."
"Dad !" Ran laughed at him with a big smile ."I am strong don't worry so much !"
"I said come back home at time ."Kogoro made clear he will not let her leave until she agrees ."Alright fine .."She sighs ."I am going now, we have curry later !" As she runs out as she hears her father shout 'be careful !'
Ran was happy that her father is looking out for her, but he was such a worrywart it's not like the Black Kid will come after her .
As she runs out of the building, she almost bumped into someone ."Sorry !" She shouted but kept running to make it on time to school, the person just stared at her running away .
He then looked up at the apartment building .
"Ran ! Finally you are here !" Sonoko shouted as she sat on her chair ."I made it !" Ran tries to catch her breath as she sat next to her childhood friend, she noticed Sonoko has her phone out ."What are we watching ?" She asked .
"It's Black Kid first appearance !" One of the girls said with a smile, Ran knows her as Nawaki Tomo .. An uneasy feeling krept into her stomach .
She never told her dad that there were some hardcore fans of Black Kid in her school, especially in her classroom and they made her feel uneasy ."Oh .."
"Just oh ?" Tomo's eyes narrowed at her immediately ."Easy there Tomo-chan Ran is still tired, you had late training yesterday right ."Sonoko said in Ran's defense ."Yes .. I am bit stiff too .." She smiled nervously Tomo narrowed eyes were gone, but she still felt judged by her ."Yeah yeah .."
She smiled at Sonoko very sweetly ."It all first happend in Osaka !" Suddenly a voice came out of the phone, the voice sends shivers to Ran's spine .
Sometimes she wakes up middle of the night, the voice following her at every turn .
"What a beautiful performance isn't !"
After that screams followed and gun shots, she did not want to watch but could not help but listen .
Before Sonoko or Tomo could watch more, the phone got pulled out of Sonoko's hand as all three stared at the teacher ."I don't mind you using your phone before class, but I thought I made it clear no Black Kid videos or what's so ever ." Her strict voice made Ran feel ashamed as she looked at her desk ."What's your big deal, there is nothing wrong with watching videos of Kid-sama !" Tomo agrues making other fans nod in agrement .
"I said no Black Kid, and go to your seat now Nawaki-san ." She turned to Sonoko ."You get your phone back after school Suzuki-san ."
"Yes .." Sonoko did not agrue much as much as the girl likes attention, she also feels the tension rising in the classroom as some glare at older woman .
"Oh Kudo-san just on time go to your seat ."Ran turns around fast as she stares at Shinichi walking inside the classroom, bags under his eyes clear as day as he walks tiredly to his seat ."Good morning Shinichi !" She said happily as he nodded at her, her chest feels warm all sudden ."Good morning Ran ."
Some greeted Shinichi others ignored him, Tomo was the only one glaring at him though . Ran never know what Tomo has against Shinichi . But it looks like Sonoko knows Ran decide to ask her friend later .
Class starts as Shinichi sits down .
(Police station)
Takagi was ready to throw his hands up and just give up .
Even with all prove that the guy exist, it was like they were chasing a ghost ."I mean he should be an older man right, 20 years ago he appeared for the first time in Hokkaido in a British musuem that was build in 1956 . He was last seen 17 years ago in Tokyo Sakura Crowns which is closed 9 years ago .. He has decided to return to work just some months ago "
This nightmare was not even a last year thing, and they are scared to think the years what will follow if they don't catch him .
"I don't want to think it but maybe he has a heir .." Sato looked sick to the stomach, thinking the thief from almost 40 years ago would have an innocent should continue his bloodshed .
Takagi grabbed some files as he opened the one on top ."They did find a body 10 years ago nearby the place he was last seen, but so far we don't know if it was him because the lack of dna ."
Sato stood up ."I am going to grab some coffee you guys want something ?" Takagi looked confsed before he almost yelped as Shiratori spoke ."Thank you Sato ."
"When did you get here !"
"Just now don't be so paranoid ." Takagi wanted to remark something back, but Sato clears her throat waiting for Takagi's coffee order ."Yes thank you Sato-san ."She turned around and walked off to grab them some coffee before they head out again .
"You will never get far with her ." Shiratori said as he watches Takagi looked with love struck eyes after her ."Will you mind your bussiness maybe .. I will confess one day ."
"Yeah right ."
Takagi opens on other file this time the first victim of the phantom thief ..
Well what was left of it .
"This is one of the guards back then ?"
"Yes Fuyumi Riku he was 31 years old, he worked a few months there together with John Steiner same age ." The bodies were gruesome like one of those horror movies ."That barbaric man needs to be stopped ." Shiratori looked away from the picture disgusted what he saw .
"But we don't know anything about him, only that he steals diamonds and gems, he really takes a favor for the red ones . He just started to exocute people now after 17 years of silence ."
Nobody likes to think what happend in Osaka, nobody expected what to think when a letter came in that the new Black Kid will take over the mantel of the former Phantom Thief . At first they believed it will Black Kid will be an old man, he will make a mistake and they catch him but then they realize when he said the new Black Kid .. He truly meant a complete new person who was surely younger .. Dangerous .. A bloody killer .
Shiratori still has nightmares of that phantom's laugh, insanity and madness filled with joy, as he closes his eyes he can still see the blood dripping on the ground as the phantom gutted two police officers who were fast enough to catch on to the phantom thief ..
They were however not fast enough when the next thing happens .
"Here .." Sato gave them their coffee ."The press are here ."
"Damn .." Takagi said as he suddenly hears Inspector Megure curse as his heavy footsteps walked out of his office, it will be a long day ..
"Takagi are you coming !" He yelled at the man before he could sip his coffee ."Yes sir !" He shouted as he got up and grabbed his coat, but then something fell out of his pocket . Shiratori was to one who grabbed it ."A card ?"
"I don't recognize it .." Takagi said as Megure walked to them ."What is it ."
"From Black Kid ." Shiratori looked shocked ."What ?!" Inspector Megure took it from Shiratori as he read "You people are starting to annoy me back off ."
"That damn bastard ." Sato whispered as few minutes of silence filled their cirkel .
Megure agrees with her and feels this is just the beginning .
"But one question is .. How did it get into Takagi's coat pocket ."
(school)
"See you guys tomorrow !" Ran shouted as she waved at Sonoko and Sera, she walked in silence to the apartment as she was lost in her thoughts . She suddenly felt someone walk behind her as she suddenly stiffens .
"Relax Ran it's just me ." Ran relaxed as she recognize Shinichi's voice as she turned around ."Shinichi ! You scared me !" She complains making the boy smirk ." Sorry sorry .." He walked beside her ."Is your home not the other way ?"
"Yeah .. Just don't wanna go home yet ." Ran said nothing at that just nodded .
"How is Conan-kun ?" She asked after a while ."He is doing okay ."
"He is almost 7 right ?"
"Yep ."
"I remember he was just so small .." She sighs with a little smile, remembering how chubby the little boy used to be ."He is still small what are you talking about ."
"Come on Shinichi admit that he will one day be taller then you !" She smirks as he flushed ."As if !"
"I bet you will be losing your bet to him in heights ."
"I should have never told you about that bet .." He mutters ."Too bad you did ~" She sings
Both laughed how silly it now felt, Ran felt so happy that she wished this feeling, this little moment will last forever .
None of them aware of the figure looking at them, standing behind the corner dark eyes focused on them .
Soon I will show you ... Plans forming in his mind as he turned around and was gone .
