Sup guys? Lighting Wolf here, back with another story, this one about Valkyria Chronicles. Enjoy the 800-word chapter. I don't own VK, Sega, Ryutaro Nonaka and Shuntaro Tanaka do.

The Ruzhien Empire didn't consider itself monsters. They didn't create monsters like the Empire, nor exploit their resources like the other superpowers.

One of these soldiers was Nicholas, a simple soldier who only fought for what he thought was right… However? There was plenty he didn't know about the emperor or his generals. He simply followed orders at the moment… And that meant marching into the country of Jutland.

The 19-year-old private looked at the rows of soldiers around him… Rows of soldiers who all seemed eager to combat the country.

Why? Did they know something he didn't? He was under the assumption that they were marching to Jutland because of a horrible error that had to be corrected, something that could be justified.

"I cannot believe Jutland is pushing for war so much." Nicholas heard from one of the soldiers around him.

"Perhaps they wished to force us to attack first?" Another soldier questioned. "We blockaded them to secure resource, I believe. Maybe they want revenge?" The next soldier put in to which Nicholas said nothing.

He had forgotten that they had decided to blockade the country. He couldn't forgive that, but they were also fighting a war with the empire. The empire had destroyed countless parts of Europa.

"What about the empire?" Nicholas questioned while humming and looking around. "What about the land the empire has taken? I thought we were trying to work out deal with Jutland? Make them vassal of Jutland so they don't hurt them." Nicholas said while he brushed off his sword and looked around for a moment.

He seemed to await some sort of answer as the camp grew quiet. He wanted to make sure some answer was given… There was none, it made him frown despite himself.

Still? He was loyal to his people, if there was some big answer he missed? He'd find that out sooner or later… There would be answers, the generals had to give them orders to which he could question soon.

"General says our division is supposed to secure the Kingdom of Ipseria." One of the soldiers said as Nicholas nodded. "I question just what is needed there, why would they need our help?" The soldier questioned.

"Because they are ally, that is what good allies do." Nicholas said and crossed his arms at this. "You know this. We are supposed to be clearing their forces out, yes?" Nicholas questioned while he slowly sat up with his armor clanking.

Neither of the soldiers said anything to which Nicholas simply turned. His lance hung in his hand as he turned around with interest. There was something out here, something that wasn't normal… He could feel it, yet he could only ponder what it was… And why it was here to begin with.

Perhaps he was simply entertaining a foolish idea. The military was something his family had served in for many years, Nicholas wasn't someone who felt ashamed to admit that.

Then again? Nicholas cared about his principles more then he did simply love the military. He knew very well that something bad was going to happen sooner or later. Nice soldiers didn't last long.

"I heard noise." One of the soldiers said he turned to Nicholas. "2 of you, check it out and report back if you hear anything at all." The soldier ordered to which Nicholas could only sigh and look around at the moment.

"Fine." Nicholas said and turned to his comrade. "But if you do hear anything? Let me know." Nicholas said and got a wave of the hand from the soldier in question.

It made him shake his head as he turned and started to walk away with a sound of annoyance. The suspense was going to kill him before any monster or creature did.

Then again? There was something off about this area, something that seemed to sing to him, he couldn't place it, however. He still was curious enough to investigate it for more than one reason.

What he didn't know was that that something wasn't normal. It wasn't of this world.

And its interest in him was not simply a coincidence, nor would it be the last time he crossed paths with them.

Nicholas cleared his throat once more.
