The war was cruel to everyone. Kakashi, who had participated in war since childhood, never thought that he would live for another war. He only hoped that his loved his Iruka, his sweet academy sensei, would survive this war and that the new generation would resume the duty of protection to Konoha, since they had no hope of surviving.
Iruka was scared, even distraught. He couldn't stay still, he had to do something! His students were safe in the village shelters and he was accompanied by his chunin partners. He just prayed that Kakashi was okay and that Naruto would transform into the hero that he really is. He just hoped his death didn't affect Naruto, whom he considered his son in his heart.
That is why he didn't mind sacrificing his life to they. He knew it was a stupid decision and that he didn't really do anything, as his level was completely different, but if that meant fighting for his precious people, then so be it.
And akashi, seeing his love in front of the most powerful ninja she had ever met, Pain, went straight to save him. He couldn't lose anyone else in front of him, at least not without a fight.
"Sensei, I'll take care of him. Don't worry."
And looking at his love, with the anguish in his chest but knowing that he could not do anything, he withdrew praying to all the gods he knew that Kakashi would please be alright.
However, they were both right. Surprisingly death was not painful, even they both had a feeling of peace in their soul.
Iruka had long since accepted his death in this war and was not surprised by his death, yet he never thought he was in such a place. Beautiful and peaceful.
"Iruka?"
A voice that he had not heard since he was a child said behind him as surprised as he was excited, he saw his father with his mother and another woman of spectacular beauty smiling with regret and tranquility in his direction.
"Mom."
Kakashi, on the other hand, felt great regret when he saw his father in that place. He loved him, but seeing his figure after so many years made her feel very confused.
"Dad."
"My son, you are so big and strong. You fill me with pride. Come, come closer, we have things to talk about."
"My great regret was to leave you alone in a moment of need and succumb to my cowardice. I'm very sorry, Kakashi, and I hope that one day you will forgive me."
"Dad, I honestly had a hard time understanding why you did it, but a great ninja made me open my eyes at your perspective. He made me understand your situation and helped me forgive you."
"My son, I have seen you all these years, I have never left you alone and I know how important this Iruka you speak of is for you and your heart. You remind me of me when he talked about your mother. Please tell me about him and what he means to you."
And with a smile on his lips, Kakashi told him about his life, his joys, his sorrows and his love for this sensei from the academy who made him understand the world from another perspective.
Without realizing it and, as he spoke with his father, he did not realize that four smiling and cheerful people were approaching that cold and lonely place where the Hatake were.
And Iruka, seeing his love died of him, with regret but without surprise, went directly to whoever was his boyfriend while he was still alive.
"Kakashi!"
"Iruka? What are you doing here? I never thought to see you again!"
With a kiss, forgetting the other souls present, both former Konoha ninjas greeted each other expressing their love.
"Kakashi, Kakashi. You don't know who I met again in my death. My parents! Come, I'll introduce them to you."
And Kakashi, seeing the happiness in his boyfriend, the peace on the face of his father and three other souls, knew that he was finally going to rest from the world he left behind.
"Sakumo, Kakashi."
Said a woman with warm eyes and a loving expression.
"That's your mother, Kakashi. I ran into her when my parents found her. Say hi to her, my love."
Finally, Kakashi was at peace in front of the people that he never thought to meet again, but feeling happiness and bliss to know that it was not as he thought his death.
End.
