"It was the day when they tried to start the portal, Jack pushed a button outside the portal, but nothing happened, no sound and no light as a sign of a possible working portal, nothing. It was the day Maddie and Jack wanted to give up on Ghost hunting because their lives work didn´t work, and it was also the day Danny died. After his parents left the basement with sad and disappointed looks, he decided to look inside the Invention, he wanted to help his parents and find the reason why it didn´t start. Jazz said it wouldn´t work because Ghosts don´t exist, but Danny still had to try to find something to bring it to work, to see his parents happy again. He took the HAZMAT Suit his parents had bought him and put it on before he took the first step inside. Everything he saw was metal and wires, nothing else and the further he went in, the darker it got. Danny sighed like that he would have never found the reason why it didn´t work, it was much too dark, he decided to go out again, to get a flashlight and go back in after, but when he turned around and started to walk back, he tripped over one of the wires, and when he was about to fall, he tried to steady himself on the side, what he didn´t know was, that inside the portal was the ON-Button, and that exactly where he put his hand. When Danny heard a click sound, he looked to the side and saw the Button which started to glow in a bright green. Panic formed in his eyes, he had to get out there as fast as he could, he tried to run, but tripped over another wire and this time he wasn´t able to steady himself, he fell to the ground and before he was able to push himself up again, he felt pain, horrifying pain. The electricity ran through his whole body, he felt like someone was cutting him open and filling him with ice cubes and hot coal, ice and fire at the same time. Everything was burning, his whole body, his throat felt dry and he couldn´t stop screaming. he knew he was dying, it felt like hours, he wished it would stop, he wanted it to stop. Maddie heard his horrifying screams and ran down as fast as she could. The further she got to the basement, the louder the screams got "JACK!" she yelled while running down. She saw the portal, which was starting, she would have been so happy to see it starting, but not like that, not when Danny was screaming in there, not when Danny was dying. She tried to shut down the portal, but nothing happened, it just got worse. The loud footsteps of Jack were heard while he was running down "Jack! Help me! Danny is in there!" Maddie said tears fell down her cheeks. Jack tried everything exactly like Maddie, but nothing worked, other footsteps were heard, which got faster and louder "Mum? Dad? What´s happening?" Jazz asked and froze at the doorway when she saw what was happening, she wanted to scream, scream her brothers name, she wanted to help her parents to shut the portal down, and get him out, but she wasn´t able to move, her feet were frozen to the floor and she wasn´t able to do anything else than to stare at the starting portal which was killing Danny. The screams were horrifying loud and ringing in their ears, Maddie ran towards the portal, she wanted to get Danny out herself, but she got held back by Jack "let me go! Danny is in there! We have to get him out!" she cried out her voice was cracking as she was trying to fight against Jacks grip "Madds, we can´t do anything. We tried! We can´t help him" Jack said with a broken voice "but Jack he´s dying! He´s dying! We can´t let him die! We have to get him out there!" sobbed Maddie "I know Maddie! Do you think I don´t know that? We can´t do anything! We tried, Maddie! We tried!" said Jack loud, he was crying, Jack never cried. Danny heard screams; someone was calling him. He wanted to get there, but he was still in so much pain and it didn´t end. It felt so long until the electricity finally stopped, his heart was pounding harder than possible, with every second it got harder and harder to breath, and he was tired, so, so tired, he didn´t want to close his eyes. He tried to fight the tiredness, but it didn´t work, he had time for one last thought before he closed his eyes, and let the darkness welcome him, `No one should ever feel this pain again´. When he woke up again, he heard people sobbing and sniffling, it sounded like three people and they were crying, why were they crying? Danny stood up slowly, he felt different, something was wrong, where was he? Why was everything green? something was definitely wrong, was he in the portal? Why was he in the portal? What happened? He felt wrong, but he ignored it, he had to get to the others, he had to make sure they were fine, unknown to him, if he would have looked down to the floor of the portal, he would have seen his own Corpse. When he got to the opening of the portal, he saw his parents and Jazz, but they didn´t see him, Jack hugged Maddie, his gaze was towards the door and Maddies eyes were shut, they didn´t see him, and they were crying. Jazz was still frozen with tears in her eyes, she stared at him, wanting to say something, she tried to open her mouth, but nothing came out. "Mum? Dad? Jazz? What…what´s wrong?" Danny asked and winced from the echoing sound of his voice. Maddie and Jacks heads shot up to him, and Jazz shook herself out of her frozen state "Danny?" she asked, but before Danny was able to answer he was cut off by Jack yelling "GHOST" and grabbing a bazooka to aim it at him. Dannys eyes went wide in panic, and he fell to the floor "Dad, I…I´m not a Ghost! I…I´m not dead!" Danny said scared, he didn´t even know what happened and what he was. Jazz who knew exactly that it was Danny jumped in front of him "Jazz, go away from the Ghost!" said Jack, Maddie was frozen on place with no words. "Dad! That´s Danny!..." she said, "No Jazz it´s not, No Fenton becomes a Ghost, that´s not Danny!" Jack said, "but I´m not a Ghost, Ghosts are dead, I…I´m not dead, why…why are you saying I´m a Ghost? I´m clearly not a Ghost" Danny said overwhelmed. Jazz glared angry at Jack, "look at him Dad! Look at him! Don´t you see it´s him? Look at his face!" Jazz called out between sobs, Jack who finally saw it let the weapon fall to the ground. If Jazz wouldn´t have gone between them, he would have shot Danny, he would have hurt Danny. Danny stood up slowly with trembling feet, Maddie got out of her frozen state and pulled Danny into a tight hug while sobbing. "Mum what´s wrong? what happened? Why…why are you crying? You three are scaring me, what happened? Why are you acting like that? Did I do something wrong?..." Danny asked confused and worried and got out of the hug "…I…I´m sorry if I did something wrong, I´m sorry if I hurt you or made you sad, but…but I…I don´t understand what…what happened, what…what did I do to…to make you so sad? I…" he got cut off by Maddie, who put a hand on his shoulder to stop him. He saw an expression in her face when he touched his shoulder which he wasn´t able to read, something was wrong, something was definitely wrong, but he didn´t know what it was "did you forget what happened?" she asked concerned, Danny cocked his head to the side while thinking "we…we went down here because you and Dad wanted to turn on the portal, but when you tried to turn it on it didn´t work, and then…you, Dad and Jazz went back up… and I…ehh…" he tried to think again "…I…I don´t know what I did, I…I think I stayed here… I remember that you left and after that I woke up in the portal" he answered confused. "like I thought" Maddie mumbled, Danny didn´t understand anything, at that moment he wished he could read their minds. "What did you think?" Jazz asked, Maddie sighed "Ghosts forget the way they died" she answered. Danny was in shock, why did she also say that he would be a Ghost? He wasn´t a Ghost, he couldn´t be a Ghost, he wasn´t dead, he didn´t die. "M…Mum, wha…what do you mean? Wh…why are you also thinking that I´m a…a Ghost? I…I´m not a Ghost, I…I´m not d…dead" he stuttered nervous, he saw that the others wanted to say something, but nothing came out of their mouths, they just opened and closed them. "M…Mum? D…Dad? Jazz?" he asked nervous, they didn´t know what to say, how would you tell a Ghost who just died that he´s dead when he didn´t know it? He sent nervous looks to each of them clearly wanting to know what was wrong. "Guys?" he asked, Jack took a shuddering breath and kneed down in front of him "Dann-o…" he took another shuddering breath while trying to form sentences in his mind "…you died" No, that couldn´t have been true, but the expression on his Dads face was so strong, he was sure it was true, but it couldn´t have been true, it just couldn´t. Danny got scared and nervous, he shook his head bewildered "No, No, I…I´m…I´m not…" he realized he wasn´t breathing, he concentrated on his heartbeat and to his own horror he didn´t find it. He looked down to himself and noticed that the colors of his HAZMAT Suit were reversed, and he was glowing, he felt panic growing in him and ran towards the mirror. The person in the mirror wasn´t him, or it was him and he just didn´t want to accept it. Not only his HAZMAT Suit changed, but his hair did also change from black to white and his previously icy blue eyes changed to glowing green. He gasped and went backwards, not noticing that he almost fazed through the floor until he looked down, he jumped up and fell backwards, "No, No, No, No, No" he pushed himself backwards on the floor with his hands until he touched the wall. Danny went out of visibility and back in before he pulled his knees to his chest and hugged his legs. Tears formed in his eyes, and he looked to the others "I…I´m d…dead?" Danny asked broken, he didn´t need an answer, even if they said no word, their looks said everything, and his Dad already said it, he died, he was dead. Danny buried his face in his legs as the tears started to fall "I…" he sniffled "…I´m…I´m a…a G…Ghost…" he sobbed "…I…I´m a Monster…" he swallowed "…how can anybody ever love something like me?" Danny sobbed. He winced when he felt warm skin touching him but relaxed again when it was just a hug. Maddie had pulled him up into a hug "we love you, sweety, we love you, so, so much" she said quietly, he was light like a feather and as cold as ice, but Maddie ignored it. Danny cuddled into her warm hug "I…I don´t want to be d…dead Mum, what even am I now? Am I still Danny or am I only what´s left of him? Am I just leftover?" Danny sobbed into her shoulder "we are here Dann-o, you are still you, and you´re not just leftover, don´t think of you like that, everything will be fine" Jack said softly "I…I…" Danny sobbed "…I want to be like I was before, I…" he broke off suddenly when he saw a bright ring of light forming around him. He gasped and Maddie let go of him, while the ring split into two and rushed up and down his body, Danny looked down at himself after the light vanished, his eyes widened "I´m not glowing anymore" Danny said in shock "maybe it was just a side effect of the portal" Jazz said. Danny concentrated on his heartbeat again and his hopeful smile vanished "No…" Danny said quietly "…I´m still dead" he pulled his knees back to his chest and changed back "maybe you can shapeshift" Jazz said thoughtfully "shapeshift? How does that even work?" Danny asked confused "we don´t know sweety, not yet, but we will find out together" Maddie said "when…when I can control it,… can I… can I try to live like a human? I... I don´t want to lose everything" Danny asked with a pleading voice. Maddie didn´t know what she should answer to that, should they try? Is it healthy for him? They could try it and look how it work "you can try sweety, but at first we will report you sick at school, like that you can learn to control your powers and learn how they work" she said, "that sounds good to me, we can keep it secret" Danny said with a smile.
