Chapter 0

I stood on the wreckage of what used to be the Rig, the floating base of Brockton Bay's Protectorate, as I watched the fire in the distance ravaged the city – nay, the entire world.
As my eyes took in all the carnage that had been done, my mind instead started to wander somewhere else, to a moment forever recorded down my memory lane.
Everything started on that faithful night when the stars were brighter than I had ever seen.
When a Silver Star, either by accident or perhaps through the hand of fate, crash-landed unto me.
Back then, not even in my wildest dream could I ever imagine that in just a few months, my life would turn 180 degrees. That I would be involved in an adventure spanning numerous dimensions and realities, that the encounter I had that night would lead to me being involved in a battle to save this planet.
Seriously, who could ever? I certainly didn't.
My mind was jolted back to the present as my body was almost blown away from a massive shockwave. Despite that, my knees didn't buckle.
I stood firm even as the monstrosity in the sky above renew its assault, taking down Capes and normal humans while letting out a roar that sounded more like insane, twisted laughter.
Funny, despite the overwhelming power of the foe standing (well, more like floating) in front of me, despair had not overtaken me.
It did not feel hopeless.
Fear had not taken root in my heart.
Determination was overflowing from my heart, powers brimming from every inch of my being, and my heart was telling me that by the end of the day, everything would turn out okay.
Of course, I wouldn't know whether it would turn out that way or not. It was illogical, in fact, to think that somehow it would end in a 'happily ever after' after all that had happened.
Those who were my friends.
Those who were my enemies.
Those whom I was able to save.
Those whom I failed to save.
Those whose lives I had taken.
Those who had taken away things that I cherished.
Even now, I wasn't sure on which side of the scale I would fall into, whether I was a hero or a villain.
But...
I turned my head slightly to look at the people behind me.
Dad.
Lisa, Brian, and Charlotte.
Dinah and Missy, along with Kid Win, Assault, and Battery.
Armsmaster, Dragon, Miss Militia, Dauntless, and the rest of the Protectorate.
Vicky and Gallant, together with Amy and the New Waves.
Director Piggot and the PRT operatives.
And...Emms and Madison.
Though far they were from where I stood, though hard it was for me to get a good look at them, I knew that in their own way, they were doing their best to reach their 'happy ending'.
That's right...
After all that had happened, it might be childlike and naive to think that a happy end was at the end of the road.
But I wanted to believe that it could happen. That it did not have to end with a tragedy.
At the very least, I wanted to ensure that they would be able to reach their 'happy ending'.
My friend once said that powers that came from the 'bonds' forged between people could create miracles and make the impossible possible.
The new bonds I had forged in the past few months, the old bonds that were rekindled, whether it was strong or weak, whether it was beautiful or ugly, I was sure that each had its own significance, that each shone brilliantly with its own light.
"Hey, don't you think so as well?"
In response, a light flashed in my hand before revealing a small white device.
I smiled.
"Let's do this."
I grabbed the small white device with both hands. Warm light surged from the device, and my smile grew. I re-focused all my attention on the monster floating in the sky and shouted the name of my friend.
"NEXUUUUSS!"

Author's Note:
To you dear readers who knew me from my other works, it has been a long time. To you new readers, welcome.
Rather than a proper prologue, this is more of a test chapter to see whether it is a good idea to write Worm x Ultraman Nexus fic.
Initially, I was thinking of writing this as SSSS. Gridman x Worm fic, but when I thought about it, as far as I know, Gridman had never fought or manifested outside of the Computer World (p.s. If I were mistaken, please correct me), and it would be limiting the scope of the story significantly.
As for the reason why I chose Ultraman Nexus, it was simple. Other than Ultraman Zero (who received the power to cross universes from Ultraman Noa), to my knowledge Ultraman Nexus (Noa) is the only one who could move between universes/realities / parallel universes, etc., on his own without the need for the assistance of other ultras.
I actually would rather use Ultraman Mebius, but there is an element to the story (if I decided to continue this) that would require an ability as stated above, which I believe Mebius never showed in the franchise so far.
For those of you still waiting for new chapters to my older stories, I honestly cannot promise when the new ones will come out. I need to re-read everything again since I'm forgetting what kind of stories I was trying to write and tell but haven't got the time to actually do so.
Also, if any of you has any tips for writing productively while in the middle of managing several projects, please share them with me.
Thank you, and hopefully, we can talk again soon.
