Jon looked up from scowling at a statement when a glass was placed on his desk. He expected to see Martin with a cup of tea, but then, that didn't happen anymore, did it? Daisy nodded at the glass she'd brought him; inside was a purple liquid that looked horrifyingly healthy.

"Smoothie for you," she said.

He thought Daisy might be one of his best friends now, despite the rocky start in their relationship where she thought he'd killed someone and almost killed him in return. And all they'd needed was an extended stay in the Buried to get there. "Thanks, Daisy. I—thanks."

"I know you normally drink tea," she said, picking up where he'd been going. "I just…didn't want to remind you, I guess. Besides, you need the nutrients."

"How's Basira?" Jon asked, smoothly turning the topic away from his own (failing) love life to focus on Daisy's instead.

Daisy frowned. "I don't really know. She's been kind of…off since we got out. Not that I blame her, everything about this place makes people a bit off. Hell, maybe it isn't even Basira who's off, but me. Us."

"After what we experienced?" Jon said sarcastically and huffed out a laugh. "Nothing off about us. We're just two people who were trapped in a coffin together and came out the other side perfectly fine."

"Shut up and drink your smoothie," Daisy said. "And… I'm here, if you want to talk. About Martin."

Jon drank his smoothie. It was actually pretty good and he found himself enjoying it more than he'd thought he would, never being much of a smoothie drinker. He could detect hints of strawberry and banana mixed in with all the other elements and they reminded him of the good days, when it was just him, Sasha, Tim, and Martin working to organise the Archives with none of the worries he now carried.

"Thanks, Daisy," he said. He didn't say what for, but he knew she understood. Thanks for helping me, thanks for reminding me that there are still people who care, thanks for remembering Martin with me, thanks for giving me a smoothie when I haven't eaten yet and its past noon. Thanks for being there.

"Drink up," Daisy replied. Thank you for being there, for dragging me out when I thought I would be trapped forever and for still dragging me out when I spiral down.
