Chapter One

When Clementine sleeps, she dreams about her parents, her adoptive parents and what her life would be like if she wasn't forced off of Popstar. Being a princess, a human princess, and adopted daughter of King Dedede and Escargoon. But when she woke up, she was laying in her bed and in her room at Sunny Majesty Motel on Kulonoe. She's been parentless once again for two years straight, but she's not completely alone.

"Clem?"

Clem watches as the pink star warrior climb onto her bed and crawl quickly to her side and whimpers into her shoulder.

"Nightmare?" Clem asked and Kirby nodded which prompted Clem to pick him up along with sitting herself up with her back against the pillows, and started to rub soothing circles on Kirby's back.. "You're okay Kirby, the monsters are gone. You're safe."

Despite the older child reassuring that he was safe from his nightmare, Kirby couldn't help but cry. He shook in the arms as he sobbed, but finally, Kirby settled and all he did was cuddle and just relax in the princess's arms.

"Better?"

"Poyo!" Kirby replied in a slightly more cheerful manner.

Clem smiled and watched as Kirby climb out of her arms to allow the girl to get up from her bed and stretched.

"Poyo!" Clem looked to see Kirby rubbing his belly and a growl came from it showing to Clem that Kirby that he was hungry.

"Alright, let's go see what we have for breakfast, Kirby." Clem told Kirby.

"Poyo!" Kirby cheered happily.

Once Clem got herself dressed in a strawberry pink shirt with short taffy pink colored sleeves, a bubblegum pink colored short skirt, and the blue bracelet that Kirby made for her out of beads yesterday on her right wrist, she headed over to the counter where the microwave sat on top and the food, bowls, silverware, and plates were in the drawers below. Clem grabbed a green bowl for herself and a blue bowl for Kirby, then grabbed a box of cereal, milk to pour in the cups and bowls from the minifridge, and two spoons. Clem poured the cereal in the bowls first, then the milk, then the spoons. Clem carried the bowls of cereal to the table before going back to pour milk into the cups.

Kirby, upon seeing that breakfast was done, rushed over and sat down next to Clementine who sat down too. Kirby ate quicker than Clementine like he usually did and Clem had to turn the T.V on just to keep Kirby busy while she finished eating her own cereal. After finishing her breakfast, Clem headed back to her bed and joined Kirby along with joining him in watching the cartoon that Kirby was watching, even if she was a little old for the cartoon.

"Clementine? Clementine King?"

The voice made Clem jump a little and she was quick to turn the T.V volume level down before getting up to go answer the door.

"Who is it?" Clem asked.

"It's Mr. Faulkner, Clementine and I've got some mail for you." Simon Faulkner answered and once Clem opened the door, he handed the three envelopes to her.

"Junk mail, junk mail, jun-" Upon seeing the third envelope, she decided it wasn't junk mail because it was from two people that Clementine actually knew, Jaydyn and Torrence Bentley.

Clem closed the door and walked back to Kirby and carefully opened the envelope. Kirby watched as the older child take a medium sized purple and red card out and waited for what Clem would do next.

"On May 1st, 2000, you were born, on May 1st, 2003, you were adopted and became a princess. And despite the horrible things that have happened two years ago, you have shown to be strong, a leader, and a caring person not only for Kirby, but to the others around you and who care for you just the same. So from all of us, happy ninth birthday to you, Clementine Avery Anise King, Princess of Dreamland." Clementine read and Kirby could see tears appear in her eyes. "Love Jaydyn, Tori, Ayden, Jack, Mr. Bentley, Mrs. Parker, Mr. Parker, Mr. Bridges, Mrs. Bridges, Sylvia, and Kirby."

Kirby clapped once Clem had finished, but instead of a smile, the girl wore a frown on her face.

"Clem?" Kirby asked.

"I...I forgot it was May first today, Kirby." The girl chocked out. "I...I forgot my own birthday!"

Kirby watched as the girl start to sob and scooted over and did his best to give her a hug and she accepted it.

"I'm-I'm s-so s-sorry, Ki-Kirby." Clementine sobbed.

"Poyo." Kirby replied with a reassuring smile.

"You're...you're not mad at me?" Clementine asked the star warrior who shook his head to confirm that he wasn't mad at her. "Th-Thank you, Kirby."

"Poyo!" Kirby smiled even bigger towards the now nine-year-old girl.

"I just got so excited last week thinking we...we could finally go back to Popstar, and I could finally see my parents and you could see Tiff and Tuff again." Clementine sniffled. "But no, it had to be a whole entire lie just so somebody could be mean to you and me."

"Poyo." Kirby sighed as he remembered the events of last week, he was happy that the bad woman got in trouble Clem did say last Friday that she didn't go to jail for it, or at least not yet, but her reputation was basically gone. "Okay?"

Clem cried for five more minutes before nodding her head. "Yeah, I'm okay, Kirby."

Kirby sat next to the princess while trying to think of a way to make Clem happy. Then, a idea finally came to him and he hopped off of the bed and started towards their motel room door.

"Kirby?"

Kirby didn't answer and grabbed Clem's red crocs and carried them back over to the birthday girl who put them on.

"Friends!" Kirby pointed towards the door. "Friends!"

Clem just sat there and Kirby started to grow nervous on how the girl would react, but she eventually stood and walked over to Kirby.

"Alright Kirby, let's go see Jay, Tori, Ayden, Jack, and Sylvia." Clem said as they started to leave their motel room.

Kirby clapped and giggled happily. "Poyo!"
