Disclaimer: I don't own neither Sonic the Hedgehog or the Persona Series of the SMT franchise. They are owned by Sega and Atlus respectively. I only own the mind vomit I call this plot.
Well, with that done let me welcome you guys into a new story that has been in the backburner of my head. This is a crossover I've had in my mind for almoist 3 years and now I know how to about it... mostly.
Well, as you guys may know, I am Thanatos D.E.M., writer novice and a guy prone to get writer's block. I welcome you to this... Sonic the Hedgehog x Persona 3 crossover! Crazy, right? Yes, it is as crazy as I am! Hahahah...
Anyways, for all those who are asking for my other story, I've been having trouble coming for a good system and rewards. It seems that I didn't think how to work with it well enough, kek. So, let's get on with it! Gotta go FAST!
It was a dark landscape, filled with many glittering lights of different intensities. One could easily compare it to a starry sky.
This was the Collective Unconsciousness of Humanity, or better known as the Sea of Souls. At the center of the landscape was a golden double door with a statue depicting a crucified young man, known as the Great Seal, created due to sacrifice of a powerful young man. This seal protected humanity from The Fall, an event destined to cause the end of the world as many knew it at the price of said young man giving his soul to power up the seal.
Slowly, a small orb of light rapidly switching between seven colors, started seeping within the seal until it disappeared...
(Scene Change: Within the Seal)
"Do you have any fours?" Asked a young man as he observed his cards. This was Makoto Yuuki, the Wild Card and the creator of the Great Seal. He looked to be around 17-18 years old with blue hair and silver-gray eyes. He was wearing a blue sweater and khaki jeans and had headphones and a MP3 hanging around his neck.
"Here you go." Said another young man as he handed him two cards. This was Ryoji Mochizuki, known as the Nyx Avatar. He was around the same age as Makoto with black hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a gray jacket with a black undershirt with white stripes and black jeans.
Ryoji looked at the third player of their little game and asked "Got any sevens, my lady?" He asked as he grumbled a little. He was not good for card games, but he was often outvoted when it came to choosing ways to kill time inside the seal.
The third player, a woman who looked to be around her twenties with black hair and red eyes and pale skin. She was wearing a black dress with long sleeves. She was Nyx, the deity born from human desire to bring the end of the world. She smiled smugly as she answered. "Go fish, Ryoji."
Ryoji started to grumble even more loudly as he picked a card from the deck. These jerks were plotting against him, he was sure of it. A metaphorical storm cloud was hovering over his head showing his bad mood.
You might be wondering: 'How are they so friendly with each other, lest be playing a card game when they are supposed to be enemies?'
Your answer would be... Time. It had been five years since Makoto had created the Great Seal. To be honest, Makoto and Nyx were at each other throats at the start, with poor Ryoji having to play peacemaker.
After two years of giving the cold shoulder to each other, they slowly started to talk to each other in a civil way. Within the third year, they had somehow became friends and in the last two years, they had became rather close friends. To Makoto, the fact that she was more than just a mindless avatar of destruction helped a lot. She was a interesting conversation partner.
The only thing that could really bother them at this point was the headbutt dog that was Erebus attacking the seal every year. Makoto was fed up with that and so were the other inhabitants of the seal.
The saving grace was that Elizabeth would always swiftly drive off the shadowy mutt every time, much to Makoto's relief.
As they continued playing, the room started to shake weakly. None of them noticed at first, until the shaking increased in intensity. Slowly the room around them started cracking and breaking, filling Makoto with a sense of foreboding...
"What is happening? Is something wrong with the seal!?" Makoto was panicking.
"I don't know... I don't like this at all..." Ryoji also looked nervous.
"I feel... I feel like something is changing within the seal... It's weird..." Nyx looked around in confusion instead.
Slowly, a blinding light started building in the center of the room they were in. It became stronger until they only saw white...
(Scene Change: Outside the Seal)
The seal was shaking, bits and pieces of the statue and the door slowly falling and peeling off. The radiant golden color the gate exuded also started to become blue and silver.
A presence outside the seal felt and saw the changes and decided to take its chance to break in. That presence was a large, shadowy dual-headed monstrosity known as Erebus or as Makoto had called it, head-butt mutt.
Erebus could be described as the collective manifestation of grief and negative emotion. Its presence was a key part to bring the end of the world. It felt the inherent change within the seal was a sign of weakness and decided to strike once again. It charged towards the gate, decided to break in once and for all, only to be rebuffed by a shimmering barrier.
"I apologize, but I can't have you intervene right now, Erebus. You see, my sister asked me to keep you from reaching the seal while this change is happening." A female voice called out to the beast that kept ramming its head into the barrier.
The beast turned its eyes towards her, glaring with malice. The woman looked to be on her middle twenties, with platinum-blonde hair, golden eyes and pale skin. She was dressed entirely in dark blue with matching high heel shoes and used black and golden accessories. Additionally, was carrying around a blue book, entitled "Le Grimoire" on her hands. She was Margaret, one of the attendants of the Velvet Room.
She smiled, but that smile had a dangerous edge to it. "She asked so earnestly, I couldn't help but accept. After all, she is doing this for her guest, just like I would do for mine. Ahhh, the things that love do to us, it's interesting. I wish I could meet the one that has enraptured my sister, but I am digressing."
She opened Le Grimoire and a wave of power washed over Erebus making the beast take a step back and growl. "You know, I have been in dire need of stress relief. You see, with so many girls hanging off my guest, I have been feeling somewhat jealous, so your presence here is perfectly timed. Yes, you'll do nicely. I'm going to enjoy unloading my stress on you."
Slowly, tarot cards started flowing off the book and the power she was releasing increased, showing her deadly intent. Her smile turned into a smirk as she took her stance. "Shall we start?"
Erebus could only roar in defiance as the beast charged towards her with its own deadly intent.
(Scene Change: The Velvet Room)
The blinding light slowly subsided and the unlikely trio found themselves into seated in the middle of a nicely furbished elevator room. The elevator doors were opened showing a dark landscape full of stars with the moon taking the center of the view. In front of them, was an old man with a bizarre appearance. He had a long nose, pointed ears and bloodshot eyes, wearing a black suit with white gloves.
This man was Igor, the Master of the Velvet Room. He gave a crooked smile as he looked towards the visitors in the room. "Welcome to the Velvet Room, dear guest and visitors. My name is Igor, the master of this room, found between consciousness and unconsciousness."
He focused his gaze on Makoto, and continued. "It is good to see you in good health, Makoto Yuuki. It seems you made peace with the other denizens of the Seal." He looked at their hands. "Ah, did I interrupt your game?"
They looked confused, until he signaled towards their hands and they only could smile sheepishly. They still had the cards from the game they were playing.
"Sorry, but you did catch us at a bad time. But, let's not go into a tangent. Why did you bring me here Igor? Why did you bring them too? And where is Elizabeth?" Said Makoto as he put the cards in his pocket.
"Hmmmm, answering your questions in order, I called you here because my superior decided to give you a boon to compensate you for your efforts. I also brought them here, because what we have to offer concerns them too. And Elizabeth is out at the moment at my behest. She will return soon. You might have noticed her handiwork at the Seal." Igor said as he drummed his fingers on the table.
Ryoji perked up. "You mean that shaking and breaking? For a moment, I thought something was wrong with the seal." He shook his head and chuckled.
Nyx looked relieved as she gave her own two cents. "She must have been reinforcing the seal. But why now, of all times?"
"I see you two worry about the seal that keeps you prisoner, how interesting." Igor gave a crooked smile at them.
"That seal... Is the only thing stopping us from destroying the world. You know, we never wanted to cause this. I can speak for both my lady and me when I say, we only wish to live in peace..." Ryoji looked down gloomly but he kept talking. "In the end, we were too weak to fight what we were born to do."
Nyx continued on his stead. "We are thankful for the deal, but we regret every day the fact he had to sacrifice so much to do it." She smiled sadly. "I will always be in his debt for that and someday I will pay him back for everything." She looked resolute.
Makoto could only look at them agape. They never had told him about that. Then he sighed. Igor decided to clap once to bring back their attention onto him.
"Well, let's return to the main subject. To answer you miss Nyx, we took our time to reinforce the seal because the steps needed required a lot of time to prepare. Ah, it seems that Elizabeth is returning, just in time too. We can discuss the deal now."
Igor signaled towards a silver door that slowly opened revealing a new arrival in the room. Makoto was pretty sure that it wasn't there before.
The person was a female in her early twenties, that like Margaret had platinum-blonde hair, pale skin and golden eyes. She was wearing a blue dress that resembled a stewardess' outfit with five black-lined circles outside small yellow circles, blue gloves, a blue attendant-like hat, black leggings and blue, knee-length boots. She also carried her own Grimoire.
She smiled demurely as she bowed. "Hello, dear guest and visitors. I am Elizabeth, one of the attendants of the Vekvet Room." She focused her gaze on Makoto, and her smile gained a tinge of affection. "It is good to see you in person again, Makoto."
"It's nice to see you too, Elizabeth. I hear that you were out upgrading the Seal. I am reakly thankful for that." He also smiled, and seemed to notice the feelings behind that smile but decided to not comment on them. They all had more important issues to deal with.
"I believe it's time to start talking about the reward we planned to offer you, esteemed guest." Said Igor as Elizabeth took her place standing alonside him. "Before I start, I want to ask all of you to save your questions until I finish, please."
The trio nodded, sitting up straight as they focused their undivided attention.
Igor stared at them for some seconds and then nodded as he started talking. "After a time since your physical body fell into a coma, my superior decided to call a council to talk about your deeds. We wanted to reward you after all the suffering and strife you underwent in the duration of the contract. So we started a plan, first we would reinforce the Seal holding back these two alongside you and to completely eliminate the chance of Erebus breaking in."
Igor smiled as he signaled towards Elizabeth. "As my assistant has reported, the first part was a rotund sucess even if it took this long. The second part was to decide what to do with you. Sadly, we lack the power to safely return you to your old body. And even if we could, you would be severely weakened and it would take years to recover after what you did. So we decided to offer you the chance to reincarnate into a new world."
Igor drummed his fingers on the table. "A chance to do everything you couldn't do in this life, to explore, to meet new people. In short, the chance to live a normal life, or as normal as you want it to be. The downside would be that the world would be completely random. As in outside of our power to choose."
Elizabeth took it from there as she summoned a parchment from her Grimoire. It was a contract. "This contract holds the terms of the reward we present to you. The moment you sign it, you hereby will not be a guest of the Velvet Room anymore and will start your new journey." She put the contract on the table as she presented Makoto with a pen. Igor continued with the explanation.
"That doesn't means you won't be able to ask for help however. The Velvet Room and my superior still owe you a great debt, so don't hesitate to call for help if you ever find yourself into any kind of trouble you can't solve by yourself. We aren't so irresponsible as to just drop you somewhere and cut all ties with you."
"Your friends over there also have the chance to go with you too, but with some restrictions. You both may not be able to bring your own powers as you travel with him, and you will be bound to him. If he were to die, you would share the same fate."
Ryoji looked extremely nervous. "Then what would be the point of us following him if we may end as dead weight?" He asked. No matter what, he would follow the lead of his lady and Makoto, but he didn't want to be useless.
Igor didn't show any kind of negative emotion due to being interrupted. If anything, he looked as if he was expecting that question. "You wish to remain here, then? I said that there were chances of that happening, not that you would be rendered completely powerless."
Elizabeth decided to finish the explanation. "No matter what happens, we will accept it. If you wish to remain in the Seal, that will be fine too." She smiled at him. "So what will your answer be, Makoto? Will you stay in the Seal, or will you take this chance?"
"I... I..." Makoto didn't know. He didn't know what to do. He was conflicted. One part of him wished to take the chance, but the other wished to remain, to stay with these two until his friends would bring him out the seal, but he knew there was a small chance at best of that happening. He started trembling, until Nyx and Ryoji put their hands on his shoulders and Elizabeth grabbed his hands. They smiled at him and in that moment, he knew they wanted the best for him.
So, he grabbed the pen and started signing resolutely. A chance of a new life had presented for him and he would grasp it with both hands.
The others smiled in acceptance as they also signed the contract. As they finished, the contract erupted into azure flames, surprising them.
"I see you've made your choice, Makoto Yuuki. Please, hand the key you were given to enter the Room and step on that circle to start your new journey." Said Igor. Makoto complied and the trio stood up as they walked toward where Igor signaled.
Ryoji and Nyx stepped into the circle, but before Makoto could also do it, Elizabeth stopped him. He turned towards her to ask what was wrong, but he was surprised whe she kissed him on the lips. He stood there shocked as she uncharacteristically grinned as she pushed him into the circle.
Ryoji was wolf-whistling and Nyx was smiling teasingly as they caught him and he could only groan. He could only wave towards her with a blush.
"Goodbye, Makoto. I believe you owe me another date. I'll see you soon." She waved at them with a full smile on her face, her golden eyes glistening.
Suddenly, they banished. Elizabeth could only watch the place where he once stood, her hand extending as if trying to reach him, tears falling from her face. "I'll see you soon..."
Everything twisted and churned, and he could only see white. Strangely, he could feel the others alongside him.
He turned towards them, but couldn't see anything. Slowly, he felt as his entire being started changing.
He could also tell as their friends changed. One of them becoming smaller and the other becoming mist-like, flowing onto him.
That June 23, 2015, at a hospital in Tatsumi Port Island, the physical body of Makoto Yuuki gave his last breath.
That June 23, 20XX, at a hospital in a unknown forest island, a baby was born. Named Velvet due to the color of his hair/fur.
Whitin a temple in a secret location known as Angel Island, a grand green gem, surrounded by seven smaller gems, started shining brightly, acknowledging the birth of someone who will become a hero.
He could only regret he couldn't say goodbye to his friends...
Prologue, end.
And we done here for now. Tell me what you think guys.
Gonna give some explanations before any of you complains. Makoto has maxed stats, and maxed all the SLs but never decided to become more than friends with any of the girls. The dates with Elizabeth still happen tho.
