A/n: Okay this started as fluff...and then the ending got sad...whoops, in this beginning bit Loki is around 10, and Thor around 12.

"Loki! Loki! Loki! Loki!" Thor cried pouncing on top of his brother. Loki groaned, rolling over.

"Go away Thor," Loki said. Loki had fallen asleep reading and was not a fan of being woken up.

"But Loki! Mother and Father have to go to another realm for a meeting! We'll be home alone!" Thor cries way too excited for Loki's taste given the fact that he was trying to sleep. Thor did not seem to care about the fact that his brother was asleep, though, as he continued to pounce on his brother, shaking him until Loki finally gave in. Loki opened his eyes, glaring at Thor. Thor smiled happily.

"So, we could build a pillow fort, or sneak food from the kitchen, or-" Thor continued to list items, but Loki only half listened. So that's why, over three hours later, after their mother had kissed both of their cheeks, Thor was dragging chairs into the middle of the boys' room. Loki and Thor had a shared common room with separate bed rooms on either end. They had pushed the couch out of the way and Loki was now pulling blankets and pillows from both of their rooms. Loki wouldn't dare admit it to Thor, but he was secretly excited for this. Loki and Thor spent the next three hours building a pillow fort.

"We should watch a movie!" Thor cried. Loki chuckled at his excitement.

"Okay, popcorn?" Loki asked.

"Of course!" Thor cried, running to the kitchen and begging the cook for popcorn. When he came back 15 minutes later with a huge bowl of popcorn, Loki laughed as he settled into the fort that was leaned against the couch. Thor reached for the remote, and turned the TV on. Loki had already slid the disc into the player. Thor pressed play, and the two brothers sat, eating popcorn and watching their show. Over an hour and a half later, when the movie was over, Loki had fallen asleep with his head leaning against Thor's shoulder. Thor had planned on getting up, but didn't have the heart to wake his younger brother. So instead, Thor sat there, resting his head on top of Loki's and letting the younger boy rest. And after a while Thor fell asleep too.

When Frigga and Odin returned over three hours after the two boys fell asleep, Frigga instantly went to their room to make sure Loki hadn't stabbed Thor. She was quite surprised to find the two boys curled up on the ground, both sound asleep. She smiled, looking around, finding popcorn kernels on the ground, and an orange stain on the carpet she assumed was from soda of some sort. She smiled turning, and leaving the room, letting her two boys sleep.

"Undying? You should chose your words better."

He could hear the tall man's words. But couldn't seem to understand them

He watched, helplessly, as his brother was strangled.

He threw himself at his brother's dead body.

Hugged it close tears leaking from his eyes as he prayed to the Norns above,

Prayed, that his brother wasn't dead,

That it was a trick,

A joke.

And he cried. Remembering that day, when they had watched a movie in the pillow fort, back when Loki cared about him. And now, over 200 years later, he and Loki were finally beginning to be brothers again. The kind of brothers that could fall asleep against each other, and it wouldn't be weird. And Thor screamed. He screamed as loud as he could.

"WHY?" he screamed.

"WHY MUST YOU TAKE EVERYTHING FROM ME? WHY?" he screamed, tears streaming down his face. He couldn't breathe as he sobbed holding Loki's body close, breathing in his sent.

"I couldn't save you brother, but I will damn well avenge you," he whispered in his brother's ear. He took a shaky breath in, grabbing the dagger that Loki had tried to kill Thanos with, and clipped it to his belt.

"I won't fail you again," he whispered under his breath.
