"Home sweet home."

"Yeah, I'm just about to board. I'll let you know when I land," Adelaide said, speaking softly as she moved in line with the other passengers. Passport and luggage in one hand, phone in the other.

As she approached the front of the line she quickly wrapped up the phone call, "Alright, Mum. I've got to go. Love you too."

Hanging up the phone, she swiftly slipped it into the pocket of her black sweatpants and gave the worker a charming smile as she handed over her passport and boarding pass.

That was all finalised quickly and before she knew it she was settling into her seat. Sighing, she slipped her airpods in and closed her eyes content to rest for the majority of the flight.

Thankfully, she hadn't come across any paparazzi or fans at the airport. It was times like this when she was still able to travel with regular people without causing a stir that she was grateful for.

Especially when she hadn't mentioned to any of her friends that she was coming back to school. She wanted to avoid the gossip spreading around the school before she got there.

As the plane landed she got her carry on sorted and filed out of the plane with everyone else. She was sure that she looked like more of a mess now than when she first boarded. Her long brown hair was probably resembling more of a mop on her head than the messy bun she originally put it in. Matching her attire of sweatpants and a baggy hoodie.

Adelaide let out a chuckle as her mother practically threw herself at the girl as soon as she stepped out of the airport. Tightly returning the embrace, she held on patiently waiting for her mum to break the hug first.

"I missed you so much," Sarah, her Mother, sobbed holding the girl's face in her hands.

She sighed, "I missed you too, Mum. But you can let go now. I'm not going anywhere soon and you'll probably be sick of me in a week."

"Sick of you. Never," Sarah said gathering the suitcase in her hands before leading the teenager to the car. Adelaide simply followed sighing in relief as she relaxed in the passenger seat of the car.

Sarah placed the luggage in the boot before getting into the driver's seat of the car and pulling away from the curb. Glancing briefly over at her daughter who was beginning to doze off, questioning, "Have you told any of your friends that you're back?"

Adelaide opened her eyes slightly responding, "No, I video called Cat and Jade last night but they didn't suspect anything. They know that I've finished filming, but think I'm staying in Canada for the time being."

"I kinda want to surprise them," she continued. Grinning as she thought about how they, mainly the bubbly redhead, would react. "And plus, I don't want news to spread around the school before my first day back. Which would definitely happen if Cat knew."

"You know it's going to spread anyway, honey," Sarah sighed, "I don't know about not telling Jade though. You know she hates surprises."

"I know. I'm hoping that she's miss me too much to be mad," Adelaide said, watching the scenery out the window and the familiar houses of her neighbourhood.

Soon they approached their house, which looked a lot like the others. A simple brick exterior, large family home.

Although they could certainly a big, lavish home thanks to Adelaide's income. Being just the two of them they were felt happier and more comfortable living in a regular neighbourhood. It was a gated community so they had some security just in case.

"Go upstairs and get settled. I'll start on dinner down here," Sarah instructed as she unlocked the front door, passing off the suitcase to Adelaide who took it and began dragging it upstairs.

Finally making it to the top landing, she let out a sigh before going down the hall towards her left to her room.

"Home sweet home," she said opening her door, letting out a scream when a pair of scissors flew past her face dangerous close before embedding themselves in her door frame.

Holding her chest, she attempted to regulate her breathing looking across her room at the source of her attack.

"How dare you not tell me you were coming back," Jade said, finally making her presence known in a no-threatening way...kinda. She stalked over to the other girl who was still leaning against her door trying to catch her breath.

"O-okay, Jade," Adelaide stuttered, eyeing the second pair of scissors which Jade pulled out of her boot. "Nice to see you too, geez."

"Adelaide!" Sarah called, walking up the stairs. "Are you okay?"

She stopped outside the girl's room finally seeing Jade. "Oh! Hi, Jade," she cheerily greeted, nudging Adelaide, "I thought you said she didn't know."

"Yeah, clearly she does," Adelaide gestured to the pair of scissors in her door frame and Jade who had now moved to twirling her scissors.

"Oh...Well, I'll just leave you two to catch up," Adelaide threw her Mum a disbelief look, watching her back away. "Dinner will be ready in an hour. Jade you're welcome to stay."

Adelaide watched her Mum go back downstairs, mouth a-gap. "It worries me slightly how unfazed she is by your violence."

Jade ignored the comment going back to her original reason for being here, "So you were just going to let me be humiliated on Monday when I didn't know that my best friend, who's famous by the way, was coming back."

"It was meant to be a surprise," Adelaide explained.

"I hate surprises."

"Right...Well, hiiiii," Adelaide smiled sweetly, speaking tightly through grinning teeth, "Please don't kill me."

Jade rolled her eyes slipping her scissors back into her boot. "You're lucky that you're one of the only people I can tolerate."

"Lucky me," Adelaide chuckled. Opening her arms, questioning, "Now can I get a hug?"

"Fine," Jade sighed, wrapping her arms briefly around her best friend. They met in primary school and Jade instantly took a liking to her when she didn't shy away from her like everyone else and instead talked back to her. Since then she was the only person, besides eventually Beck, who Jade let her walls down around.

"Now, tell me. What'd I miss?" Adelaide demanded, flopping back onto her bed and making herself comfortable amongst her mass of pillows. Jade took a seat opposite to her, before updating her on all the new happenings at Hollywood Arts.

That's how they spent the night, talking until the sun came up.
