Welcome one and all! This is an idea I came up with a while back and with the help of some friends of mine, some of whom you may know, like bored411 and Khaos, have helped me to come up with a quirk for my character. Which is yet another SI.

It took a while but I hope you all enjoy what I have managed to create here. Thank you for joining me here and please be sure to leave reviews.

Should there be any questions or concerns I will be more than happy to answer them in the next chapter.

And now without further adieu I welcome you to my newest story; "The Light in the Dark".

"For all you examinee listeners tuning in, welcome to my show today! Everyone say 'Hey'!" Present Mics shouted to the audience. Who remained perfectly silent. "What a refined response." He said with a shrug. "Then I'll run through a quick presentation in the practical exam!"

'Alright it's time to go! After long last I'm finally freaking here!' Akio thought to himself as Present Mics gave his speech. 'Now I just have to pass the entrance exam.' He didn't pay much attention to Present Mics's speech. Because he already knew how things were supposed to go.

How did he know how things were supposed to go you may ask? Well that's easy. Not exactly simple mind you but easy. Akio was from an alternate universe. Ours to be exact. Shocker I know.

But here's the twist… 'It's too bad I've only seen the first few episodes so I have no idea how it all plays out.' That thought put a smile on his face. Joining U.A. High school had been his goal since he found out he had a quirk.

(Flashback)

"Alright Akio-chan I want you to try and form one of these balls. Any way you can." The doctor asked Akio as he showed him a pair of balls.

"Yeah yeah alright." He sassed, surprising the doctor with his attitude. Akio had to say it... of all the things he disliked about being young again. The thing he disliked most was people talking to him like he was a kid. Didn't matter to him that he was one.

He wasn't exactly sure how this was supposed to prove anything though Akio had no idea. Still he wouldn't prove that he didn't have a quirk just because he didn't give it his all.

Akio held the balls in one hand, getting a feel for it as he closed his eyes. For a while he just felt like a fool as he tried tugging at an ability he didn't even think he had.

See, his parent's did have quirks. But only his mom's was anything near cool. And he had only ever been a carbon copy of his dad… who did not have a cool quirk. Sooo of course he would be blessed with his dad's quirk.

That was when he felt it. Just a small feeling of something moving inside of him. Akio heard his mom gasp so he opened his eyes and saw that he had two balls of light circling in his other hand.

Of course the moment his focus slipped the two balls exploded, singing his hand.

Then the Doctor turned to his mother unconcerned with his burned hand. "If I recall correctly neither you nor your husband possess this sort of light construction."

His mother was smiling brighter than the balls of light Akio had been holding earlier. She turned to the doctor and held up her hand summoning two balls of fire. "No but I can do similar things with fire. And his father has... well he just kind of lights up in the dark."

"Like a glowstick?"

Akio groaned. 'That was horrible to grow up with... again.' His parents had practically assumed that he would be afraid of the dark and so his dad would stay up in his room till he fell asleep.

Now granted they never realized that, that was what kept him awake all of the time. But come on. You try sleeping with a giant nightlight pressed against you. All. Night. Long.

'I swear that was the only reason I ever cried as an infant.'

Now while Akio was reminiscing on horrid thoughts his mother on the other hand giggled and hugged him tightly. "You hear that Akio-chan? Finally you have something of mine in you."

The comment surprised him. But he smiled as he hugged her back. "Yeah mom. I do."

(End Flashback)

Ever since that day Akio trained with his quirk every day till he was able to form more complex constructs than two tiny balls.

According to the doctor his body was somehow able to collect sunlight and store it inside. Akio could then take that energy and use it to form whatever he needed.

'Now it's time to show the world what I can do.' He thought to himself, getting worked up for the coming challenge.

"Candidate 6150, would you please turn the light down a little?"

"Huh? Oh!" He looked down and saw his hand glowing brightly. Akio chuckled and withdrew his quirk from his hand. "Sorry!"

"Hah! A walking glowstick."

Akio glared over at the person that said that. Sitting there was a teenager with spiky white hair. No it was not Kakashi… this white hair had too many red highlights to be him.

Before he and the non-Kakashi could get into it, Present Mics called out to another candidate. "Yes Examinee Number 7111?"

"Sensei! On the printout there are four types of machines. If this is a misprint then U.A., the most prominent school in Japan, should be ashamed of such an oversight!" The stiff overworked student proclaimed. "We examinees are here in this place because we want to become the best heroes that we can be!"

Just when Akio thought the guy would give it a break he pointed over in the direction of the non-Kakashi. "In addition, you over there with the curly hair. You've been muttering this whole time. It's distracting! If you're here on a pleasure trip then you should leave immediately!"

Akio couldn't help but snort at that… which drew the stuck up student, sorry "examinee", over to him. "As for the one with the glowing powers! If you cannot control your quirk then you best leave as well before you hurt someone!"

The light user raised his eyebrow at him in disbelief. 'Seriously? Oh my I am so sorry I got excited and distracted you with my light Mr. Stuck up.' Unfortunately they were in the middle of a large classroom and starting a fight here would almost certainly cause an immediate expulsion for him… something he did not want.

"Okay, okay, Examinee Number 7111. Nice notarization. Thank you." Mics turned to the screen and up popped the last enemy that Mr. Stuck up had mentioned. "This fourth type of villain is worth zero points. This one's more of an obstacle than anything else. There's one of these in each section. An obstacle that will go absolutely berserk in narrow spaces. While not impossible to defeat, there's no real reason to defeat it in the first place. I'd recommend that you listeners try to avoid it whenever possible."

Then Mr. Stuck up had to ruin the moment of more information with his voice. "Thank you very much! Please excuse the interruption!"

Beside him, Akio heard a couple students talking. "I see… so it must be like obstacles in video games, huh?"

"This whole thing is like a video game."

While they were correct, this was very much like a video game where the highest scoring "players" are admitted into U.A. Highschool, that seemed a bit simplistic to Akio.

'Even in games there's some kind of point to an obstacle like that fourth machine. Whether it's as simple as taking it out before it can hurt someone or topple more buildings, or even taking care of it so you can focus on the lesser enemies.'

Akio was brought out of his thoughts by Present Mics shouting, "Plus Ultra!" then shortly after he spoke one last time. "Now, everyone, good luck suffering!"

Good luck suffering? Maybe he should have paid more attention to Present Mics speech. 'Scratch that… I definitely should have paid more attention.' He thought to himself as everyone else in the room got up and started leaving. Akio looked at the paper he had been given, for any kind of clue.

"Need some help?" A voice asked out of nowhere.

"Ah!" Looking around him Akio couldn't see anyone there. Then he heard some giggling which drew his eyes to… floating clothes?

The floating clothes continued to giggle. "Sorry I scared you. Sometimes I still forget I'm invisible."

That explained the floating clothes. Akio laughed sheepishly. "No problem there. I doubt I'd be any different in your place. But uh to answer your question… I may in fact need some assistance. In finding where to go from here."

The invisible woman giggled again. "Didn't you pay attention to the speech?"

"Minutely. Maybe… mmmmaybe not." Somehow Akio could feel the invisible woman's stare fixed on him. "Alright no." He said somewhat sassily. "I did not pay… complete attention. Because I was too busy thinking of all the machines I was going to wreck."

"Confident aren't we?"

"Heh, don't ya know it!"

The invisible woman laughed again. "Well anyway it's nice to meet you. I'm Toru! And the section you're supposed to go to is on your card. For instance I'm in section 'E'!" She said ecstatically, showing him her card.

Which coincidentally had her name on it as well. "Nice to meet you Toru! My name's Akio! 'Toru, huh? Interesting name.' Akio looked at his own card again and chuckled.

"What is it?"

Akio showed her his own card. "Well Toru looks like we're going to the same section."

Toru gasped. "Really! That's so cool! It's like fate that we met! The girl no one can see and the boy that everyone can see from miles away! The ultimate team up! Let's go!" Without any warning Toru grabbed hold of Akio and began dragging him along behind her.

When the two of them got there Akio looked around, curious to see if Mr. Stuck up or the non-Kakashi was around. They were not and Akio couldn't tell if he was relieved or disappointed.

"Yosh! Go on in you youngins! As a hero there will not be any 'Ready set go' bullcrap! So get in there and whoop some villain's butts!"

Akio smirked and ran in ahead of all the others. If he was gonna get into the A1 class he would have to get as many points as possible.

Soon after the test started Akio saw a swarm of machines closing in on him and the others. He smirked. 'Time to shine!' He thought as he slammed a warhammer on top of the first machine he spotted. Now the test had truly begun.

As said test continued Akio and his fellow heroes in training stayed in a group as they toppled the villains. They even worked together to trap a vast amount of them in a secluded corner of the area. However just as Akio impaled the last three point machine with a light spear the ground began to shake.

Akio looked around for what was causing the tremors when he and the others spotted it. The fourth villain. The "Obstacle".

"Well it's definitely fitting its name right now." Akio said as the machine situated itself at the only exit they had. If they didn't get past it they wouldn't be able to get more points. And if he couldn't get more points there was no way he'd be able to get into class A1 with the points he had at the moment.

'We have to get past it!' With that thought Akio's face set in determination. "Everyone! Get ready to run past it!"

"Akio? What do you plan to do against something like that?" Toru asked him.

"Trust me. You'll know it when you see it." Akio sent Toru a thumbs up with a smirk before he charged at the enemy.

While he ran towards what mentally he dubbed 'Weapon X', Akio stretched out his arm and poured as much light as he could spare into his hand. He winced in pain as he summoned a massive light spear more akin to a missile than a spear.

Akio's quirk allowed him to manipulate sunlight that got stored inside of him. But when he used a vast amount of it too quickly the light became too intense and would start to burn his skin.

Weapon X threw a punch right as Akio launched his spear of light, which embedded itself deep into Weapon X's arm. With that Akio turned to the others behind him. "Let's go!"

They were confused until they saw the arm of Weapon X explode which launched the machine to the side, opening the way for their escape.

"Yeah!" The previously trapped group shouted as they ran past Weapon X.

Akio tried his best to keep up with the others but the power needed for his plan to work took more than he originally thought. He could still fight but he was nowhere near a hundred percent.

This time the group parted ways and hunted on their own as the 2 minute marker had passed.

Using the last of his light in store Akio summoned two mini war hammers to smash a pair of machines. Behind him he heard another machine crash. Turning around he saw… "Toru! What are you doing here?" He panted, out of breath.

The invisible woman gave him a thumbs up. "I'm here to help!"

Akio smiled in response. "Thanks Toru. Let's do this!"

Working together Akio and Toru quickly took care of 6 more machines before time ran out. Akio even rounded up enough light for another mini war hammer for Toru to deal more damage. It was difficult managing the focus to keep all three weapons together as well as fight but it really helped big time. And the moment it was announced both of them collapsed back to back.

As they sat there catching their breath Akio turned his head towards Toru. "Hey Toru? Mind if I ask why you followed after me?"

"You really have to ask that when you just finished saving all of us from that monster back there?" Toru asked, her tone disbelieving. Soon though she answered Akio's question. "After seeing the huge explosion you caused I noticed that you started moving a lot slower than before. So I thought I'd help you out."

Akio sighed and looked forward again. "Well thanks for that. The help was really appreciated."

Toru sighed as well. "Not a problem Akio. Your help was appreciated too."

The two of them remained silent for a few moments longer. But soon a thought occurred to Akio. "Toru?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you still have that hammer I gave you?"

"Yeah. Why?"

"You might want to throw that away before it explodes."

"EHHH!" Toru screamed as she got up and threw the hammer as far away as she could.

"I know I told you to throw it away but... you know ya probably didn't need to throw it that far right?" Akio deadpanned from the floor. He didn't feel like putting any effort to sit up but still managed to throw away his hammers.

"How would I know!" She shouted, waving her arms in a panic at him. "The only example I have of one of your constructs going 'kaboom' is that one you used on the obstacle!"

Just to emphasize that the hammers that he constructed all exploded at the same time. Toru cringed… then looked at the small craters in confusion. Turning back to Akio she asked. "Umm… why were they so small? Compared to that first one?"

Akio sighed again. 'I honestly don't even want to answer. I'm tired, sweaty and sore. I just wanna take a nap… but she deserves an answer. To quote an equally lazy person I know of. Troublesome.'

Aloud however he said. "The explosion occurs when I lose focus on my constructs. And the size of the explosion depends on how big and dense the construct is."

"Dense?"

"Yeah. The more light I put into my construct the denser and harder to break it is. That doesn't necessarily make it any bigger unless of course I want it to."

"Huh… that is… seriously cool Akio!"

"Thanks. Though that in and of itself comes with a downside. My skin is still sensitive to sunlight. So when I push that level of sunlight into my constructs it tends to burn a little. Case in point." He explained, lifting his arm to reveal the burns that now covered his right arm.

"Oh my gosh!" Toru exclaimed before examining it more closely and asked. "Does it hurt much?"

"Well I mean it's not exactly pleasant or anything but it's also not the end of the world. I'll survive. Now if you don't mind I'm gonna take a nap."

"Oh sure that's fi- Why are you taking your shirt off!" Toru shouted again.

"I'm practically out of light. I'm recharging both my batteries so to speak." He calmly told her, his eyes closed.

"Yeah but why'd you take off your shirt?"

"I absorb the most energy when the sun is hitting my skin." However now that she'd gotten him to explain his own quirk he had to admit to some curiosity about hers. Akio peared out one of his eyes and asked. "What about yours? How does your quirk work exactly?"

"M-my quirk? Well the Doctors say that my skin cells naturally refract light around my body. Which is what keeps me invisible."

"Huh. Interesting… though to be honest that just makes me wonder…" Akio hummed in thought.

"Wonder what?"

Akio shook his head clear of his thoughts. 'Besides even if it was possible I seriously doubt I'd be able to do it in a blink of an eye. After all it's not like I deal with stuff like that every day. Still…' He thought to himself as he focused back on Toru. 'I do think that it's something worth looking into.'

Much to Toru's irritation Akio again closed his eyes. "It's nothing. Was just thinking about if we made enough points to pass. Though now if you would let me, I really need to pass out." And pass out he did.

When Akio awoke he was back home in his bed. 'Aye aye aye… I just finished resting and I'm still exhausted. Am I really this lazy? Granted I haven't worked this hard in years but still.'

Akio looked over when he heard his door open and his dad walked in. "Hey champ. How're you feeling?"

He gave him a grin. "Same as always dad."

His dad smirked back at him. "Sooo, exhausted and salty?"

"I think you mean sassy."

"Ha ha! I suppose you're right." Then his dad put on a serious face. "Son, I heard from a few of the other participants about what you did in there and I have to say. I'm proud of you. Your mother and sis are too."

"Proud enough to celebrate?" He asked, making his dad laugh.

"We'll see son. We still haven't heard whether you've gotten into the school or not but I presume that we will soon."

"Right. Till then Dad."

It took the better part of a week before Akio received his confirmation about getting into U.A. And when it finally came Akio and his family went and bought cake to celebrate. A proper cheesecake for those who were curious.

Soon enough it was time for Akio's first day at school. And he was stoked about it… absolutely. One hundred percent.

"Akio! Get your butt out of bed or you'll be late for school!" His mom shouted from downstairs, rousing him from his peaceful slumber.

"Yeah yeah. It's time. Yippee." He groaned as he dragged himself out of bed and forced himself to get dressed. As soon as he ate breakfast he ran out the door towards U.A. Only stopping to say goodbye to his sister, Eiko.

"Hey sis. Whatcha doing?" She seemed to be really concentrating hard on whatever it was.

Of course his interruption broke her focus causing her to give her big brother a rather annoyed look. "Akio what'd you do that for? I almost had it!" She pouted.

Akio could never tell her that her pouts whenever she was annoyed always just made her look cuter. "Sorry little sis. Didn't mean to distract you or anything." He told her with an innocent smile on his face.

The look on Eiko's face told him she didn't believe that for one second. But she sighed anyway. "I was trying to make four balls at the same time."

Akio winced in understanding. "Yeah it gets a lot harder the more you try to create at once. But you'll get it eventually." It was even harder for Eiko since she had only gotten their mother's quirk. For him however it was somewhat easier.

According to the doctor, the pores in Akio's skin were made up of little crystals that stored solar energy. And it was these same crystals that made it easier for him to form constructs than his mom. Well that and the fact that light was more stable than fire.

"Yeah I know." She said grumpily.

Though Akio had a feeling that her reaction was more than just being disappointed in her quirk abilities. "You know you'll see me when I get home right?"

The way she tensed up showed him that he was right on the money with why she was upset. "W-what! Hah y-you think I'm gonna m-miss a jerkwad like you? J-just what kind of world do you live in?" She somehow managed to say, though her face was beat red making Akio smirk.

"Tsundere."

Angered, Eiko turned on her big brother. "I am not a tsundere! You take that back you big- oh?" She was startled when Akio affectionately patted her head.

"I'll miss you too Ko-chan." After that he brought her into a hug and left for the academy. On his way to school he couldn't help but wonder what he was getting into. Akio had only just started "My Hero Academia'' when he had died.

Which if he was being honest kinda made him happy and kinda made him terrified. It's like when you watch somebody else play a video game, compared to when you play the video game yourself. It's fun to watch but it's best to play firsthand. Even if in this case… he could actually die again.

'Still… this'll be better than standing still in another boring life when adventure is literally just a test away.' Akio thought to himself. However despite the optimistic thoughts Akio knew for a fact that this path he had chosen would not always be the best.

By the time he found his way to the class he was one of the last to arrive. Immediately he caught sight of the non-Kakashi and Mr. Stuckup, both of whom were staring at him. Mr. Stuckup decided to go over and talk to him.

"Welcome! I am Iida Tenya from Somei Private Academy. It is nice to meet another of my fellow classmates!"

'Ya know what if he keeps this attitude up I may have to change his nickname from 'Mr. Stuckup' to 'Mr. Stiff'.' Akio thought to himself, as he just barely kept from laughing in front of Mr. Stuckup. "Yo Mr. Stuckup! My name's Suzuku Akio."

"Mr. Stuck up?" Iida asked, not understanding the words as Akio had said them in english.

"Yep. Sorry I tend to give people nicknames. Sometimes they make sense and sometimes they don't but it's what I do." Before Mr. Stuckup could ask about his nickname Akio had already moved on into the classroom.

Yet even before he could get to his seat however he heard a familiar voice call out to him. "Akio you made it into this class too? That's soo awesome!"

When he turned towards the voice he saw… floating clothes… which meant. "Toru? Hey you made it here as well huh!"

The invisible girl gave him a thumbs up. "Yep! Guess that means we'll get the chance to work together once again huh?"

Akio chuckled as he gave Toru a thumbs up in return. "Sounds great to me! Well I better go find my seat but we'll talk later eh Toru?"

"Absolutely!"

As he walked towards his seat Akio wore a smile. 'At least I know that I have at least one friend in the school.'

Akio proceeded to nap till their teacher decided to show him/herself. He really couldn't be bothered to stay awake unless it was absolutely necessary after all.

That was his plan… a plan that was rudely disrupted by an argument between the non-Kakashi and Mr. Stuckup.

"Do not put your feet on top of the desk! Do you not have the slightest respect for your upper classmates or those that built that desk?"

"Eh go suck a lemon you side character! Just what junior school did you go to?

"I attended Somei Private Academy. My name is Tenya Iida."

"Somei? So you're a freakin' elite, huh? Looks like I'll have fun crushing you!"

'Huh… well at least that explains his stiff behavior. Alright Mr. Stuckup your new nickname is officially 'Stiff'. That sounds better and less offensive than the other name anyway. Though non-Kakashi is still non-Kakashi.'

An outcry caught Akio's attention. When he looked over he saw… well he didn't actually remember his name, even though he knew that he had something to do with All Might. And that he seemed to be the main character of "My Hero Academia".

'Still doesn't look like it though. Even in real life.' Akio thought to himself.

Soon, the class teacher Aizawa showed up and gave them all uniforms with instructions to go out to the training grounds.

"A Quirk assessment test?!"

"What about the entrance ceremony? Wasn't that supposed to be the orientation to get us in?" Uraraka asked their teacher.

"If you're going to be heroes you won't have time for such leisurely activities." Aizawa said, shocking them for some reason. "One of U.A's greatest points is how its traditions are so unrestricted. And that's exactly how the teachers run their classes. Unrestricted."

Akio had to admit… Aizawa with his general appearance and his voice… and how he tended to look at them right off the bat… ok he was pretty scary. But that wasn't really any reason to be terrified of him. Much…

"You kids have been doing these since junior high, too, right? Physical fitness tests where you weren't allowed to use your quirks."

Yeah… that had been fun to deal with. In his previous life Akio had lived in america… and been homeschooled his whole life. And though he didn't really think his quirk would help out in any of those ummm fun tasks, he saw the frustration in everyone else whose quirks would help out for sure.

But still during the tasks Akio tried his best. Though there were a few tasks where he couldn't use his quirk to help. In the 50 meter dash he couldn't think of how his quirk could help. Same for grip strength.

In the standing long jump though Akio encased his shoes and gloves in a dense light. Allowing one of his shoes to explode at the moment he jumped launching him forward. As soon as he started to fall he let the other shoe explode, followed by his gloves as he summersaulted. All of which pushed him further along before landing on his feet. Most looked at him like he was insane.

Which, considering his clothes now looked pretty damaged and he had a rather wicked grin on his face… well let's just say that if Akio had been looking in a mirror he would not have blamed them at all.

The repeated side steps was rather pointless for his quirk. Or anyone's apart from Minoru.

Then came the ball throw which Akio had already thought of an idea. He carefully used his light to create a simplified version of a ballista as well as a large bolt arrow with the ball placed in the center. He smirked to himself as he aimed the ballista to get the most distance. 'Let it rip.' He thought to himself with a smirk as the bolt was launched into the air.

Of course when the ball landed the number was not as impressive as he thought it would be. "620 meters!"

Which made him wince. 'I know that's supposed to be very good and all but… I don't feel like I'm doing very good here. Not to mention that apart from this right here and maybe in the standing long jump there's nothing that my quirk is really helpful for.' At this rate Akio was starting to get worried.

After that this started to go even more downhill for Akio. In the long-distance run he was decent at but physical strength had never been his focus in either life. Which sucked for the sit-up challenge as well.

In the end Akio was sure that he was in last place. And boy was he surprised to see that he wasn't as bad as he thought. 'Huh… 9th place? Not too bad I guess.' He had been so focused on how his quirk would fail to be very useful that he forgot to take into account that everyone else's quirks wouldn't exactly be fantabulous at each task either.

Midoriya was in last place however and Akio hoped and prayed that Aizawa would prove to be like Kakashi from Naruto and tell everyone 'Just kidding'.

Then Aizawa turned off the screen and said with a straight face. "By the way, I was lying about the expulsion." Everyone's shocked faces must have amused him as he grew a great big grin. "It was a rational deception to draw out the upper limits of your quirks."

Akio gave off a sigh of relief at that, happy that Midoriya wouldn't be expelled. 'I should have known he wouldn't be. Even if I hadn't seen the whole anime or read the manga, I know that Midoriya is the main character. And with the focus on this school he should be a part of it one way or another.' Plot armor. It was the real op power in stories like these.

After school Akio had a glorious time explaining all about his day to his parents and little sister.

"So were you able to whoop anyone's butt today Akio?" Eiko asked with an eager grin.

"Eiko!" Their dad admonished. Though their mom seemed rather curious, which dad noticed as well. "Not you too hon."

"Sorry dear." She said, not appearing sorry in the slightest.

'Like mother like daughter.' He amusedly thought. "No 'Ko I didn't 'woop anyone's butt'. Though our homeroom teacher is a bit… he's weird."

"Oh my, a weird hero. Who's ever heard of that?" Mom said.

'And there's where I get my sass from.' "Yeah. Though he did say that things would get harder from then on. So things should be more interesting."

"More butt whooping?"

With a drole look directed at his little sister Akio said. "No… well maybe. I don't know. And why is it that you keep thinking about that sort of thing anyway? You're 11. Besides that you are presuming that if there was some butt whooping that I would be the one whooping butt. It could be me getting my butt whooped."

"I'm ok with that."

"Eiko!" Mom and dad both admonished. Though once again Akio noticed that she seemed more amused with that than dad was.

In the end Akio sighed. "Can we just eat please?" He then looked towards his little sister. "Look if anyone gets their butts kicked I'll make sure you're the first to know. Does that satisfy your innate thirst for violence sis?" Eiko nodded enthusiastically, making him smirk at her amusedly.

After dinner Akio helped clean up and got ready for bed.

'Well I've survived the first day of school and the first night with my family. I really hope this continues.' And that was the last thought on Akio's mind as he fell asleep.

The next day was more of the last with breakfast, preparation and giving his little sister some tips based on his own quirk. And honestly he didn't really expect anything different to happen today. Cause surely the school would want them to get accustomed to life at U.A. right?

And for the most part he was proven correct. School was absolutely he still got overly bored in their english class. Even if it was being taught by Present Mic. After living a whole other life speaking english the classes weren't hard at all.

Lunch had been simply amazing. Toru had invited him to join her and Ojiro at their table where they got to know each other somewhat. It was almost funny how different the three of them were.

Ojiro was a hard worker who believed that one could get anywhere if they worked hard enough. Akio's first impression of Toru proved to be rather accurate. She was very excitable, energetic, enthusiastic… all of the tics. One thing that they all had in common. They became friends rather quickly in Akio's opinion.

The afternoon however came his favorite part. Basic hero training. All Might came in to give the introduction to the class. "I am… coming through the door like a normal person." He shouted, rather dramatically in Akio's opinion.

As he marched into the classroom a lot of the other students gushed about him being there.

Akio was not one of these people. 'I mean he's cool and all. I personally have a crap ton of respect for the guy, especially knowing how much he struggles just to stay a hero, but I don't really think that's reason enough to worship the ground he walks on.'

"I am the teacher of this course. Hero's basic training. Here you all will train in all sorts of ways in order to learn the mere basics of becoming heroes. You'll be taking most units of this subject. And to start off your hero career… today we will begin in combat training!"

Combat training. The thought of that made Akio feel torn. On the one hand it would give him the chance to make more things explode. On the other hand he would have to actually fight.

"And to go with that are these!" All Might gestured over to the wall where their suits appeared.

In the end Akio sighed. 'There really is no getting out of this.' And soon enough he found himself at one of the many training grounds found in the academy. His costume was rather on the simple side of things. Black armor made of a light yet sturdy composite metal. Only piece missing was a helmet as Akio didn't like the idea of stuffing his head into a bucket.

The joints in his armor had holes in them, allowing Akio's light to freely flow from them to make his constructs. And the armor was strong enough to protect him from physical attacks as well as capable of withstanding the explosives that come from his light.

Even if he could use his quirk to protect himself it still felt like a good idea to have a last line of defense should he run low on his light. He even had a black katana on his back for more offensive capabilities.

"Ahh Akio-kun! That suit is soo cool!" Toru exclaimed.

Though when he turned to look at her all he saw was boots and floating gloves. Akio could feel his cheeks flush red despite himself. 'I understand her hero suit for her power but still… it feels wrong just looking in her direction.' He thought to himself. Aloud however he said. "Thanks Toru. Yours is… well it suits you."

"Thanks!"

Trying to avoid any further feelings of awkwardness or embarrassment, purely one sided as Toru apparently had yet to notice the circumstances of her quirk, Akio turned to look at Ojiro, who had also realized just how unfortunate Toru's hero suit was. "Your suit's rather cool as well Ojiro." And he truly believed that. Ojiro had followed the same style as he and Toru. Nice and simple.

"Th-thanks Akio." He said with a nod in his direction. "Though to be honest it kinda goes against your quirk."

That made him smile. "Yeah well what can I say. I like the color black." Everyone within hearing range looked at him strangely causing him to snort mentally. 'Yeah I know it's strange. But meh… I live to be weird. Always have.'

"And what's with the sword on your back? I thought you could make anything you wanted with your quirk?"

"Heh you sure like to ask questions don't you?" Ojiro looked somewhat bashful at that but Akio waved it off. "It's fine Ojiro, I don't mind. The sword is for in case I run low on my inner light. My mom always said that if I was going to be a hero that I wouldn't be able to rely on my quirk alone. So she taught me how to use a sword."

"How come you didn't use one in the U.A. entrance exam then Akio?" Toru chirped, her curiosity clearly showed in her expression.

"We were facing a lot of robots… robots made out of iron. A sword wasn't gonna cut it. Besides..." Akio flushed a little as he looked away. "I didn't have the sword until after I passed. Parents called it a celebratory gift."

Ojiro looked over at Toru and apparently had come to a mental agreement to not capitalize on Akio's embarrassment. "That's awesome Akio! Mind if we see the sword?"

If Akio's shocked expression was noticeable to either of them they didn't make mention of it. He smiled and pulled his katana from his sheath and showed it to them. Even the blade was black, having been made of the same composite metal as his armor; it was very durable.

"Wow!" Was the general reaction from his classmates… except for Bakugo who just scoffed at it. Saying that a true hero wouldn't need such a useless tool.

'One of these days you're gonna get yours Bakugo… and I sure hope I'm the one to give it to you.' Akio thought to himself as he narrowed his eyes at him, as such was his irritation that he forgot to call him by the nickname he had appointed the spiky haired prick.

After the heroes in training greeted each other All Might explained what the combat training would include for them. "Now it's time for combat training."

"Sensei! This is a battle center from the entrance exam, so will we be doing a trial in urban battles again?" Mr. Stiff asked… in an admittedly cool hero outfit.

"Not this time. No, we're going to move two steps ahead for this session!" Then he went on to explain. "You see, villain fights mostly take place outside, however if you were to look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a much higher rate. Imprisonment, house arrest, backroom deals; in this society filled with heroes, it is the truly intelligent villains that hide in the shadows!"

'That's true. Only the dumb and extremely cocky villains commit crimes out in the open. Without a plan that is.' Akio reasoned.

"For this class, all of you will be split into two groups. Heroes and villains. From there you'll all fight 2-on-2 indoor battles."

"Without basic training?"

"This is a real battle to understand those basics! However the key this time is that there is no robot that you can merely beat up."

'Heh. Aizawa told us that U.A. basically let their teachers do as they please. But this isn't a bad strategy. All Might is clearly the type of teacher that prefers a more hands on approach as opposed to reading from a book. Thank goodness.' Akio always got bored whenever a book is placed in front of him. If it had anything to do with school. One time for a book report the teacher let Akio pick a book to do it on and he picked his favorite book… and hated every second of it.

"I shall answer every one of your questions!" All Might said, breaking Akio out of his inner thoughts and confusing him somewhat. "Now listen up!" He told them, opening up a little booklet.

'A script maybe?' Akio chuckled. 'Definitely new to teaching.'

"Now here's the situation. Somewhere in a certain hideout lays a nuclear explosive that the villains have hidden away. Those who are the heroes will try their best to dispose of said explosive. The heroes must either catch the villains or retrieve the nuclear weapon within the allotted time frame. While those who play the villains need to protect the nuclear weapon for the entirety of the time. Or capture the heroes."

After All Might's explanation of the situation Akio and his fellow classmates drew lots to decide who their teams would be. When he drew Mina's name… well… he had no idea who that was. So when he said her name and the cheery pink girl spoke up excitedly he just pretended that he had known all along that it was her.

This was why he assigned people with nicknames. If he gave people names he could remember them so much easier… otherwise it could take weeks before a name stuck in his head. And that was with english names. Japanese ones were… horrible for Akio to remember. He was lucky that Eiko's name was so simple, otherwise it might have taken years for him to remember it.

He didn't know much about the pink girl but he could definitely say he liked her attitude. It was perky and cheerful without being annoying. And judging by her placement in the quirk test she was in fairly good shape as well.

The first to go up were team a and team i. And to be honest he was a little worried about team a, or more specifically about Midoriya. Non-Kakashi really had a temper and didn't seem to like Midoriya at all.

From what he remembered of the few episodes he watched, which wasn't that much at all, Midoriya didn't have much control over his quirk. If he had any at all.

He winced as his fears about the fight came true though he had to admit that Midoriya really had a knack for planning and strategy. Even if in the end he ended up in the worst state of the two teams. Akio wished Midoriya the best as he was carried out on a stretcher.

The next battle didn't last very long, especially with Todoroki involved. 'Dang… that quirk of his is uber strong. It wasn't really a fair match up and Toru would have done better as the hero in this mock battle. But still it could have been far worse.'

Those two seemed to be the highlights of the battle trials as the rest had been rather normal and not as unnerving for Akio. That is till his own battle came up.

Their opponents world be Aoyama and Koda, a human laser by the looks of his quirk and… well Akio wasn't sure what Koda did. But he was sure he and Mina would be able to pass it in their 15 min time limit.

Of course he did feel his confidence drop ever so slightly as Mina got over excited and sprinkled her acid in the hall, some of which got on his suit.

However when she realized this she apologized to him thereby erasing any irritation he may have felt towards her.

With an easygoing grin he waved it off. "Don't worry about it. This armor's built to be pretty strong if my designs were met. It should take more than a little acid to ruin it." Then his face turned serious as he got to the matter at hand. "We should probably come up with a plan before we find the room with the bomb."

Mina pouted at his seriousness but that soon faded… somewhat. "Yeah yeah, well what do you think we should do?"

As they continued to walk through the building Akio tried to piece together a plan. "Well as far as first impressions go it doesn't feel likely that Aoyama or Koda would come after us like Bakugo did in his battle. They'll likely stay close to the bomb. Which means we should be able to move around swiftly and find the room they're in so long as we're careful."

"Yeah but what about when we find them? Regardless of personalities they're not gonna roll over and let us win without a fight."

"Of course not. When we get there I'll make a shield to protect us as we charge in. Aoyama already said that when he shoots his laser for more than a second that he gets a stomach ache right? We should be able to use that to our advantage."

Mina didn't look too confident about that plan however. "Are you sure you want to do that? I mean it is a laser after all. Will you be able to make a shield strong enough to withstand something like that?"

Just as he was about to tell her how ridiculous that statement was, he stopped. "I should… though there may be some consequence to it."

"Consequence?"

"It'll be fine. All it'll mean is that I'll have to take it easy on my hand for a while."

It took about ten minutes before he and Mina found the room. Which meant it was go time. Akio created a large shield, being sure to make it extra dense, and told Mina to follow closely after him before they charged in.

Unfortunately there was no way for them to sneak in unnoticed and Aoyama didn't give them any warning before he launched a beam attack at the two of them. As soon as it hit Akio's shield he grunted under the pressure. 'Dang this is a lot stronger than I thought.' He thought to himself as Aoyama's laser pushed them back. Akio had to actively put more and more light into his shield to continue holding it back.

Then a few seconds passed and the laser dissipated rather suddenly. So suddenly in fact that it took Akio by surprise and his shield exploded in front of him, launching him and Mina out of the room. After he shook off the daze from the blast he immediately checked to see if Mina was alright.

"I'm alright." She said as she got up and grabbed his hand. "Come on, let's go!" And the two of them ran back in and made contact with the bomb, winning them the match.

Before the next match could start Akio waved down All Might. "Hey, teach? Would it be cool if I went up to the nurse? Like now?" He asked, wincing in pain.

All Might looked down at him in concern. "What seems to be the matter, young man? I can't see anything wrong with you."

Akio sighed before taking off his left arm gauntlet, wincing as it had been partially fused to his skin, revealing the severe burns there.

"And what caused this?"

"My quirk tends to burn me when I end up using too much of it too fast. Not to mention the explosion of my shield probably didn't help too much." He explained with a wince as the air irritated his wound.

"Very well. Mina, would you accompany young Akio-kun to the school nurse?"

Mina looked at his wound with guilt on her face but hid it away. "Of course. Come on Aki!" And off they went into the school.

"Does it hurt?"

Akio resisted the urge to stare at her. 'Does it hurt? Well I mean it definitely doesn't tickle.' "It hurts a bit. Ok quite a lot if I'm being honest." Before Mina could apologize he continued. "Don't worry about it Mina. It was something I felt I had to do. Besides, it's not permanent after all."

Mina didn't say anything more but she did seem happy that Akio didn't blame her for his injury. Even had a light spring in her step as she skipped alongside him.

"Hey Akio?"

"Yeah?"

"Why do you have a real sword as part of your costume? Or better yet, why have armor at all? Couldn't you just make your own?" Mina asked curiously.

Akio just grinned at her. "Yeah I suppose I could." He allowed. "But the armor and sword are more of a "Just in case" scenario. If I run low on light then I can't make any armor to defend myself and I can't make any weapons to fight with. And up against a villain… I'd be as good as dead."

Soon enough they reached Recovery Girl who quickly treated his arm and admonished him to be more careful in the future. Though honestly Akio thought she was annoyed that he was the second one in All Might's class to go to the infirmary that day.

After they returned All Might and the class went over their battle.

"Alright now who was the best in this match?" All Might asked the class after they had re-watched the battle.

Momo, who gave her opinion with everyone's battles, spoke first. "Akio."

Upon hearing his name come up Akio looked at Momo, surprised.

While All Might did not appear surprised at all he still asked her to explain her reasoning.

"The first thing he did at the start of the match was discuss with his partner about a plan as they moved through the building in search of the nuke. He knew that it was not likely that Koda or Aoyama would venture off, away from guarding it and took advantage of what Aoyama told all of us on the first day of class. About his quirk's weakness. His plan was simple and the only one to sustain any damage was himself, which even that was minimal and hidden away from any who would take advantage of it."

Akio felt a little shy with the praise that Momo was giving him. 'It's not like I was doing anything all that special. I was just trying to win.'

That was when he noticed noticed that Koda and Aoyama looked kinda down in the dumps so to speak and felt the need to cheer them up. "I think that everyone did what they could. Koda and Aoyama's quirks don't exactly go well together and Koda can't even really use his in a city area like this. And because of that there wasn't much of a chance for Mina to use her quirk either."

His words had the desired affect on Koda and Aoyama, as they looked at him with a smile. Even Mina looked a little brighter at him defending her as well.

All Might cleared his throat and Akio suddenly felt sheepish that he had kinda gone over All Might's head like that. This was his class after all.

Although All Might didn't seem all that upset. "Well said Akio-kun! I agree with both your point and Momo's. All of you did well considering your circumstances, although I must ask why you and young Mina were thrown back in your battle against the other two heroes?"

Akio cringed. "It's one of the downsides of my quirk teach. If I lose focus while having constructs out, they explode. The blast power varies depending on the density of said construct."

"Then might I suggest working on improving your focus being something you should improve upon."

"Yes sir."

After school was over for the day Akio returned home to tell his tale to his family. They were very proud of him (of course he completely neglected to tell them he'd hurt his arm). Eiko, and though she hid it well Akio could see it on his mom's face, was only somewhat disappointed that he hadn't actually kicked their butts.

Fortunately he was quick to remedy that and told them that he'd be able to see that happen soon enough.

After dinner Akio said goodnight and went to bed earlier than normal. Recovery Girl's quirk had taken a lot out of him and he would need to be well rested if he was going to survive another day of school.
