"Y/n, wake up." A voice called, but you completely ignored it. Your only response being a "Nooooooo." Why wake up? Your bed was comfortable and your blankets were soft and-

"Oh, that's too bad. Guess you won't get to eat the (Favorite breakfast food) I bought/made. Such a shame.

Ha, please, did that woman really think you'd leave the safety of your mattress for some-

" WAIT, (FAVORITE BREAKFAST FOOD)?!" You asked, not waiting for an answer before jumping out of your bed, face-planting on the ground because your foot got caught in your sheets, jumping back up, and dashing out your down and down the hallway.

As you arrive in the kitchen, you notice your mom eating food that you found mediocre, and most definitely not as good as (Favorite breakfast food). Oh that little traitor! Who did she think she was making you get out of bed only to not have your (favorite breakfast food).

"Mom! You liar! There's no (favorite breakfast food) you whined, but she merely shrugged, clearly uninterested in this conversation.

"There was no other way to get your lazy butt up." She deadpanned. Technically, she was right, but that didn't make you any happier.

"Whatever. I'm going back to bed." You groaned, and her head snapped up, telling you that you were either in for a mini-lecture or an unbelievably long lecture. Either way, it would be unpleasant and time-consuming.

"No, you'll eat your breakfast and get ready for school, that's what you'll do. You know, back when I was a kid, I didn't have half the luxuries you had, I had to-" Annnnnnd this is the part where you tune her out in order to keep you sanity.

After about a twenty minute speech, ahe finally concluded with: "Now get ready! You only have ten minutes before you need to be out that door." 'Gee, I wonder who's fault that is.' You thought, but still began your routine to get ready.

~Ah, the first timeskip of this book~

Sure enough, after ten minute, you were completely ready, and had been subjected to at least a million first day of school photos. After saying goodbye to your mother you were out the door, where an all-too-familiar face was waiting.

" 'Sup dork." Fell said once you were out the door, earning a laugh from you. "Me? The dork? Take a look at that outfit and try again." You joked, and he turned a slight shade of red.

You and Fell had been friends since you were in kindergarten, somehow you both manage to keep a healthy friendship, even though it basically consisted of nothing but insults.

"Yer one ta talk 'bout outfits, ya look like th' Great Depression dressed ya." He commented, earning a grin from you. "And you look like Hot Topic attacked you." You retorted.

"Ey, Hot Topic has th' word 'hot' in it, so ya may be on ta somethin'"

"Pfft- You? Hot? That's the funniest thing I've heard all week."

" 'm jus' sayin' tha girls like edgy guys."

"So what does that make me then? A potato? Because I don't recall ever liking edgy guys."

"Nah, yer not a potato. A potato looks twice as good as ya, and tha's puttin' it nicely."

"Touche." You responded, considering that his sentence wasn't at all inaccurate.

" 'ow come ya aren't arguin? Yer always goin' on 'bout how ya look like a goddess." Fell asked with a frown. Great. You haven't even spent five minutes with him and you've managed to be a fun-killer.

"People grow up Fell. While you were busy vacationing all summer, I was figuring out that I don't even stand a chance against other girls when it comes to looks." You said with a shrug, and Fell turned his head and took a good look at you.

"Are ya on drugs or somethin? Ya look better than any girl I've met, an' that's sayin' somethin." Fell told you and you shrugged.

"Whatever you say bud." You said dismissively. This wasn't worth arguing over, you knew who was right, and that was enough for you.

That is, until Fell decided to stop walking. "What's goin' on with ya? First ya outright called yerself ugly, then ya decided ta willingly stop fightin." Fell sounded genuinely concerned. Which was sweet and call, but you weren't in the mood for this.

"Can we talk about this later? You're going to make us late for school." You say, successfully reminding him that school exists.

"... Fine, but yer goin ta tell me everythin' later, no backin out, deal?" He stuck out his hand for you to shake. Now you're starting to believe that his father is rubbing off on him. Or he's about to prank you. One of the two.

Taking his hand, you ignore the zap that most likely came from a joy buzzer on his hand. "Deal."

Unfortunately for Fell, you were a semi-decent subject changer, and you also tended to be the last thing on everyone's mind.

The rest of the walk went smoothly, you made no negative comments about your appearance, and conversed with Fell normally.

Until you arrived at the school. It was a huge building, at least five times the size of your middle school. It almost seemed to loom above the both of you but worst of all...

There was thousands of people. You're way too socially awkward to deal with this! Not to mention that you were ugly, terrible at reading social cues, stupid...

"Ya aight?" Fell asked snapping you back into reality. "If ya like we could jus' skip school today."

"As pleasant as that sounds, I have to go to " You say, and glare at the building.

*The thought of surviving high school with only a small possibility of encountering your bullies fills you with DETERMIN-No...That Isn't you.You aren't DETERMINED.Not anymore at least...So we'll have to change that. The question is...Who are you without your DETERMINATION?

Okay, this is my first fanfiction, so please forgive me for the terrible story telling. There are a fee messages I was trying to convey in this chapter, so I'll list them here.

1. Fell has a crush on you. Though he won't make any moves for now because he's too dang prideful.

2. You are uncomfortable in you body, and have a negative self-image. This is caused by many factors, which will be explained in more detail later in the story.

3. You used to have DETERMINATION but it was changed, though your trait is still unclear- (Totally not because I haven't thought of anything yet-)

4. Even though it was only mentioned briefly, you were bullied! More on that later.

"There's no point. No matter what I do 'm always lettin' someone down."

"You've never let me down. I don't think you could if you tried."

"Heh. Thanks Doll."
