Disclaimer: I don't own either RWBY or Digimon.
A/N: So this seems like a rather ambitious project for my first fanfiction, but I had this idea for awhile and it just wouldn't leave my head, so here I am writing it down. Taking these shows at face value, they might not seem that similar, but both are shows with a large focus on characters, have themes of dark vs light, and an emphasis on working together and the power of friendship. So one day I thought, "What would happen if some RWBY characters were sent to the digital world?" I will say this upfront, this story will focus mainly on the Digimon aspect of things, with only the characters from RWBY, as its what I'm more familiar with. Another thing to note, I have most of the important story moments already planned out, so don't expect many big changes from my original vision. Last note, I promise, these characters, or mentioned events, might not reflect their canon counterparts, which is fine because it called fanfiction, but I know some people take things a bit too seriously. Please point out any flaws or mistakes in my writing, since I'm new to this fanfiction writing business, I'd appreciate any and all pointers and criticisms so long as they're constructive.

Summer vacation is the highlight of any kid's life, as its the time when they're finally free from school and homework and teachers and the list could go on and on. The point is, summer is here, and kids all around Remnant couldn't be happier, and none were happier than 11 year-old Jaune Arc. For the young Arc, summer meant taking the usual family vacation to Shion, staying up all night playing video games, and pestering his parents to let him be a Huntsman like them. But before any of that, he still has 10 minutes left before school officially ends, as the classroom's clock so rudely reminds him with every tick. He was so focused on the clock, he hardly noticed that his teacher walked up to the frond of the room and started talking. His teacher was a middle-aged woman with brown hair, wearing a blue sweater with a white, collared shirt underneath, and a navy blue skirt.
"Now remember class, just because school is over for the summer doesn't mean that you can forget everything you learned this semester. And just a reminder, sign-ups for summer school don't end until next week. And I highly encourage-" Whatever she was going to say was suddenly interrupted by the ringing of the school bell, signaling the end of another school year. "And I highly encourage you all to enjoy the summer to the fullest. Have a good summer kids."
Cheers erupted from classrooms around the school as children raced down hallways, hoping to meet up with friends, planning how they'll spend this year's summer. As Jaune was getting up from his desk, he was thinking about what he'll do to start this summer. 'Maybe we'd go to Shion straight away this year, or maybe me and Violet could play Lego Huntsman and finally beat it, or maybe we'll all go out for ice cream to celebrate, or maybe-"
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by two kids quickly running past him, knocking him onto the ground. As he quickly got up, he could hear the other kids yelling something across the hall, "Sorry Jauney, you were in our way. Try not to hog the hallway next time." Now that he was standing up, one could get the full picture of Jaune Arc: with his unkempt, blonde hair, dark blue eyes, and fair skin, all trademarks of the Arc family. He wore a black hoodie with an orange inside, a yellow shirt underneath, light grey pants, and black sneakers. Perhaps the most striking part of his appearance were the aviator goggles hanging from his neck. The goggles' rims were yellow, the glass was tinted white, and had a black headband. His face, which usually wore a grin that went from ear to ear and did just moments ago, was currently stretched into a frown as he tried to rush to his locker to grab his things. 'Stupid Jash, stupid C.T. I wasn't hogging the hallway. I took up as much room as everyone else. In fact, you guys shouldn't be running in the hallways to begin with.' With a heavy sigh, Jaune reached his destination, grabbed his bag, and, as if by magic, he had already forgotten about what happened, and was once again smiling and thinking about the summer, as he headed out the school's doors.
Only to immediately run into Jash and C.T. bullying some poor kid. Jash was tall, taller than any other kid at the school. Jaune took pride in being a little taller than the average student, but Jash stood about a head taller than him. Jash was also lanky, had slightly tanned skin, and short black hair. He wore a grey T-shirt, grey shorts, and white tennis shoes. C.T. on the other hand was Jash's opposite in appearance: he was short, had pasty white skin that was even paler than Jaune's, unkempt brown hair, and had a stockier frame. He had an olive jacket, yellow shirt, beige cargo pants, and brown shoes. They were picking on a nerdy kid from a grade below them, one Jaune can't remember the name of.
"Just give us whatever change's in your pockets, and we'll leave you alone for the rest of the summer," Jash claimed while putting his hand on the nerd's shoulder. "Yeah, and if you don't, we'll...we'll follow you around all summer until you do!" C.T. quickly added. The nerd quickly stammered out, "B-b-but I don't have any money. I spent it all during lunch. Please don't hurt me." The nerd tried to escape from the two, but Jash's grip was too strong for him. Jaune had seen enough, "HEY! Why don't you two pick on someone your own size!"
"Well what do we have here? Jauney's trying to play hero. Too bad he's nothing but a zero!" Jash taunted.
"Heh, good one Jash."
"We'll see who's a zero after I'm done with you two!" Jaune retorted, raising his fists up to his chest, mimicking the fighting pose of some hero he'd seen in one of his comics.
"Just go run to your sisters like you always do, its the only way a loser like you would ever win in a fight." And with that, Jaune lost it. With the most ferocious battle cry he could muster, which wasn't much all things considered, he bravely charged into battle...only to end up falling to his face the second time that day as C.T. managed to trip him. "We tried to tell you Arc, you're just a loser who can't win on his own. Maybe next time, you'll think twice before pretending to be a hero," C.T. sniggered.
"HEY! What are you two doing to my little brother?" Jash and C.T. looked over to an approaching figure, a blonde teenager, that was quickly making her way over to the group. "C'mon C.T. let's go, this isn't fun anymore. Congrats Jauney, your sister is here to save your butt, like always." Jash taunted before quickly running away with C.T. following closely behind. The two bullies left just in time, as hardly a minute afterwords did the teenager reach Jaune and the bullied kid. She was wearing a simple orange T-shirt, with brown pants, and a pair of orange tennis shoes. Said teenager was Saphron Arc, the second oldest of the Arc children at 16 years old. She immediately helped Jaune up from the ground with a worried look on her face, "Are you alright Jaune? They didn't hurt you too bad did they?"
"No Saph, I just fell on the ground. They didn't hit me or anything. Thanks for the help though," Jaune replied with a small hint of disappointment. He looks around for a little bit before spotting the other kid, and started walking towards him. "Hey, are you ok? Jash and C.T. didn't do anything to you, did they?"
"No, I'm ok. Thank you for helping me." The kid said, wiping away the tears that started falling during that encounter.
"Just tell me when they start bullying you again. I'll make sure they'll get what they deserve." Jaune said, hoping to cheer the other kid up.
"Alright Jaune, it's time to go." Saphron interrupted. "The others are already waiting in the van." And with that, the two Arc siblings left the other kid, and made their way to the parking lot, and more specifically the Arc family minivan, which was your standard white, soccer mom minivan. Saphron quickly jumps into the driver's seat, while Jaune goes to his designated seat, the front passenger's seat. (For the sake of brevity, and so that I don't have to describe 5 characters in a row, the other sisters look like their designs from that picture in Volume 6). A quick rundown of the Arc siblings: there's Scarlet, the oldest, and the one about to leave for college; Saphron, the most motherly of the siblings; Jaune, the only boy, and the third oldest; Jade, the adventurous one, and the one who holds the record for the most scrapes and bruises of all the siblings; Teal, the smartest of most of their siblings; the twins Lapis and Lazuli, the pranksters of the family, sometimes they like to swap names for awhile; and Violet, the youngest, and according to Jaune, the most normal of all his sisters.
"What took so long? We were supposed to leave like 5 minutes ago!" Jade didn't take long to start complaining.
"Nothing important. It just took a little bit for the hallways to clear out." Jaune quickly answered while his hand fidgeted with his goggles, a habit he developed whenever he lied. He was hoping to quickly move past this and go home, so that his summer vacation could officially begin. Saphron must have figured out what he wanted, because she didn't correct him, and instead tried to change the subject. "So I was thinking before we go home, we could stop for ice cream to celebrate, my treat." Her announcement was met with cheers from the whole van, seemingly forgetting about the delay, much to Jaune's relief. 'I'll have to thank her for this somehow. Maybe I could cover for her when she sneaks out to see her girlfriend? I bet she'd appreciate that.' Jaune thought as the van pulled out of the school's parking lot.
During the 20 minute drive to get ice cream, there were a total of 5 different arguments, a record low for the Arc siblings. "Now remember, this is a secret from Mom and Dad. You know how they are when they find out we did something without them. So all of you better keep quiet about this, okay?" Saphron told the younger kids as they made their way home, ice cream in hand. "And don't make a mess, these seats are hard to clean. And I'm looking at you three: Jade, Lapis, and Lazuli."
"What! I don't make a mess, Lazuli just blames them on me!" Lapis complained.
"Nuh uh! Lapis always blames me for her messes!" Lazuli retorted. The two quickly started argument number 6. Jade just shrugged her shoulders, "Guilty as charged." Saphron just sighed and smiled, this was nothing new for the Arc family. "Saph, shouldn't we be in the other lane? Our turn is coming up." Teal pointed out, followed by Saphron loudly swearing and quickly changing lanes. "None of you heard anything, got it," She demanded. The others nervously nodded their heads, knowing that an aggravated Saphron is not something to trifle with.
It took about 45 minutes from between leaving the school and arriving home. What started out as a single floor house ended up becoming a 3 story building, as the Arc family had more and more kids, they decided to continue adding rooms to the house instead of moving. As the siblings unloaded from the van, they were met with their parents. The patron of the Arc family was Arthur Arc, a monster of a man, standing at a towering height of 6'2, with muscles that would make most professional athletes green with envy. He had the characteristic blue eyes and blonde hair, which had a small top knot and two braids on his right side (think Hakoda from atla). He was wearing a black button up shirt, with blue jeans and brown boots. And to his left was the Arc family's mother, Iris Arc. She was a bit short, only being 5'4, and didn't show any outward appearance of muscle. She had hazel eyes and, coincidentally, blonde hair in a long braid going over her shoulder. She was wearing a long purple dress and white shoes.
"Will someone explain why it took you an hour to get home from school?" Iris asked with her eyes closed and a small smile, a look that always brought disaster in its wake. Jaune was looking around at his sisters, wondering what kind of story to tell. Should they tell the truth, and risk dealing with an angry Saphron? Or, do they lie, and risk punishment if Iris finds out? He was hoping that the decision wouldn't come down to him, what if he made the wrong one, what if he got them all in trouble, what if-.
"We stopped to get ice cream," Lapis began.
"And Saphron told us not to tell you," Lazuli finished. Saphron looked at the two in betrayal as the other siblings looked at them with appreciation.
"Oh, is that all?" Was their mother's unexpected response. The Arc children's face ranged from disbelief, to relief, to a mix of the two. Saphron quickly overcame her shock and asked, "What? I thought you would be mad at us?"
"Oh, I can't be mad at all of you. You wanted to do something nice to start off summer vacation. However, I'm furious that you didn't tell us. We'll talk about your decision later Saphron. For now, lets go inside and relax."
"However," came the booming voice of Arthur Arc, "You all aren't off the hook yet. We expected you back 20 minutes ago, and when we didn't receive any sign that you all were alright, we began to worry. So as punishment, no leaving the house for the rest of the day, no video games, and no TV." This received a symphony of disappointed groans from the siblings. But they knew that it wasn't to last, most of the punishments from their dad usually last for a little over an hour before dissolving. And with that, the entire Arc family made their way into the house, and to several rooms throughout the house.
As Jaune entered his room, he dropped his bag on the floor before practically falling on his bed. Closing his eyes, he began to replay the days events in his head, everything from going out for ice cream to their punishment. But the one thing he always comes back to is his confrontation with Jash and C.T. and how useless he was. They weren't wrong when they said that his sisters won all his fights for him. It's not like he wanted them too, but they had the uncanny ability to always be near him whenever he gets into one. Just once he'd like to win a fight on his own, to prove that he could take care of himself. And it's not like he hasn't talked to his sisters about it, or rather talked to Saphron. She said, "While I can't speak for the others, but it's because you're my little brother. When you're a little older, and your big sibling instincts kick in, you'll know what I mean." His thoughts were interrupted by Violet opening his door, "Hey, just wanted to tell you that Dad already gave up on the punishment." Jaune opened his eyes and sat up to look at his sister, "Already? It hasn't even been 15 minutes yet. That's a new record."
"Yeah, I'm just as surprised as you are. I guess it's because of summer, but I'm not gonna complain. Did you wanna play games or something now that we're no longer grounded?"
"Maybe later, right now I gotta put my stuff up." He points to his bag haphazardly thrown on the floor. "And I was thinking of just chilling in my room for the rest of the day anyway. We can play tomorrow."
"Alright, I'll see you at dinner then. See ya latter." Violet left Jaune's room, and he flopped back down onto his bed. He spent a few minutes like this before grabbing the remote to the TV in his room. Apparently the last thing he was watching was the news, as that's what appeared when he turned it on.
"This is Lisa Lavender reporting from the Vale News Network. The mysterious weather anomalies continue as Atlas continues to experience temperatures in the high 70s, and certain arid parts of Vacuo are flooding due to constant showers and thunderstorms. The cause of these phenomena is still unknown, and experts are stu-" Jaune quickly changed the channel to something more interesting, like the animated series of X-Ray and Vav, one of his favorite comic series. Jaune instantly shifts into a more comfortable position before looking at his alarm clock, "It's only 4? It feels later than that. Eh, it's just one of those days I guess." He mumbles to himself, before bringing his focus back to the TV. It wasn't long before his eyes began getting very heavy, and he starts dozing off, until he eventually falls asleep.
When Jaune awoke, the first thing he noticed was the note taped to his forehead. Ripping the note off, carefully to not cause himself pain, he instantly recognized Teal's neat handwriting, "Mom put your leftovers in the microwave, eat it when you wake up." With a groan, Jaune slowly sits up and sets the note down, and looks at his clock again, "11:56."
"How did I sleep for 8 hours? I don't even remember feeling that tired." Jaune grumbles before slowly wiping the sleep from his eyes. That's when he noticed something strange. Usually around this time, it would be completely pitch black outside, but there were strange lights shining through his window. He cautiously approached his window, before opening it and looking up at the sky. There were multicolor lights all shining in the night sky. "I've heard about this, this is the Aurora Bor something. But I thought that only appeared in Northern Atlas, not the middle of Vale." As he continued to look at the lights, utterly entranced by their beauty, his eyes latch onto a shooting star arcing across the night sky. "A shooting star, I better make a wish. With these lights, it might actually come true." He excitedly started thinking of a wish, 'I should wish for a million lien, no unlimited wishes, no wait-" His eyes looked down at his goggles. He grew quiet as he slowly grabbed them. "I wish to be a hero, like my dad, and my grandfather, and the rest of my family." While he was looking at his goggles making his wish, he didn't notice that another shooting star appeared, only this one was heading right towards him. By the time Jaune looked back the sky, the second star was about to hit his face. He flinched, throwing his hands up into his face, bracing for impact, which never came. He nervously lowed his arms and opened his eyes, seeing that the star had stoped in front of his window, and that it wasn't a star at all. It looked like a small toy: it was a light grey in color; there were 4 sides, but instead of being connected by corners, they were connected by curved lines going inward; it had a small screen; 3 buttons, 2 on one side of the screen and one on the other; a small antenna; and strange symbols around the screen that Jaune couldn't read (I know that my description sucked. If you want a clearer picture, look up the Digimon Adventure original digivice). The device was bathed in a glowing white light.
Practically on autopilot, Jaune slowly reached out his hand to grab the mysterious object. In order to reach, he had to climb through his window, with the only thing keeping him from falling splat was his leg on the window sill and his arm holding on to his actual window. But he managed to reach the glowing device, and as his hand wrapped around it, his fate was sealed. The device began pulling him, dragging him into the sky. He tried to fight it, to pull himself back into his room, but the thing was too strong, and he couldn't let go either, some force was keeping his fist closed around the device. Jaune looked around desperately for anything that might help him, but all he managed to see was his alarm clock, "11:59."
At 12:00 AM, Jaune Arc was nowhere to be seen.
