One morning in Ponyville, the sun had just risen, and the ponies were waking up. In one house, lived a married couple, Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich. A few years after Twilight Sparkle became ruler of Equestria Pinkie and Cheese began dating and eventually got married.
They had been really happy together, planning parties, thinking of new gags for Cheese's factory, and making ponies laugh and smile. The two opened their eyes, and looked at each other with sleepy yet loving eyes.
"Good morning." said Cheese.
"Good morning, Cheese." Pinkie greeted back.
"How'd you sleep?"
"It was a little hard, but I don't feel the least bit bothered." Pinkie got out of bed, and stretched.
She was a little stiff, but of course that happens when you were a pony that was ten and a half months pregnant. When Pinkie and Cheese found out they were going to have a baby they were over the moon.
They couldn't wait to have a little foal trotting around, and making he or she laugh along with them. And of course all their friends and neighbors were happy for them, and when Pinkie wrote Twilight telling her about it, the response she got was filled with excitement.
"Well I have an appointment today, so I better get cleaned up."
And she trotted to the bathroom.
"I'll get some breakfast started, I'll see you down there." Cheese called.
In the bathroom, Pinkie cleaned herself up, and was about to leave, when she realized she had to go again.
"(Sighs), I love you so much already, little one. But you're really making it hard for mommy." she said to her large belly.
Though Pinkie tried to stay her usual cheerful happy self, the side effects of pregnancy weighed in on her. The aches, sleepless nights, numerous trips to the bathroom, swollen ankles, and mood swings. But with the support of her husband, friends, and family she was getting back.
When she finally got downstairs, she saw that Cheese had whipped up some pancakes.
"Hope you're hungry. I added whipped cream and chocolate chips just like you like them."
"Thanks, Cheese."
They both sat down, and ate their breakfast together. Once they finished, they got ready to leave. Cheese had to go to his factory, and give Sans Smirk his latest gag ideas, and was going to be on the look out for new gags along the way.
"You have a good day, Cheese." Pinkie told him.
"And I hope you have a pleasant doctor visit." Cheese replied.
They kissed, and went their separate ways.
Pinkie went to the local doctor's office, and waited in the waiting room. She read a magazine about ideas for baby showers, since she was going to be having one soon. She was really looking forward to it, because not only was her family coming, but Twilight and Spike were coming from Canterlot.
"Pinkie Pie?" called a voice.
She looked up, and saw that a nurse had called her. Pinkie slowly got up, and followed the nurse into the back. They went to an exam room, and the nurse checked her over a little bit.
"Okay, Pinkie, Dr. Horse will be with you in a few minutes."
"Okey dokey lookey." Pinkie replied.
A few minutes later, Dr. Horse came in.
"Hello, Pinkie Pie. How are you doing?" he asked, as he washed his hooves.
"I've been feeling just great."
"Well let's see how you and baby are doing."
Dr. Horse checked her blood pressure, heart beat, and the baby's heart beat.
"Would you like to hear your baby's heart beat?"
"I'd love to."
He put the earpieces in Pinkie's ears, and set the other part on her belly. In her ears, she heard what sounded like an pump that was underwater.
"(Squeals), it sounds so loud and strong."
"Yes, it does." replied Dr. Horse, as he took his stethoscope back.
"It shouldn't be much longer now."
On her way home, she stopped by to say hello to the Cake family. She went to Sugar Cube Corner, and found Mr. and Mrs. Cake hard at work.
"Hi, everypony!" she greeted happily.
The couple smiled at seeing her.
"Pinkie Pie, it's so good to see you." Mrs. Cake told her, walking up to her.
The two shared a light hug.
"And you look great too."
"Thanks." Pinkie said.
"How have you been Pinkie Pie?" wondered Mr. Cake.
"I've been great. Cheese and I have been doing well."
"I can't believe you're having your own little foal." Mrs. Cake replied.
"I know it feels like just yesterday I was babysitting Pound and Pumpkin Cake. Where are they by the way?" Pinkie said.
"They're doing inventory in the back. Pound, Pumpkin, Pinkie Pie's here." Mr. Cake called.
The twins came out from the back, and smiled at seeing Pinkie.
"Hi, Pinkie." greeted Pumpkin. "What's up?" asked Pound.
"You guys are getting so big. I hope you all will be at my baby shower."
"Of course we'll be there." Mrs. Cake told her.
"We wouldn't miss it." added Mr. Cake.
"You were our foal sitter so you know we'll be there." said Pumpkin, and Pound agreed.
"Thank you, I can't wait to see you all there." Pinkie told them.
And she left.
On the day of the shower, Pinkie and Cheese made sure their whole house was ready. They decorated with blue and pink streams, balloons, and confetti. They prepared cupcakes, carrot dogs, sandwiches, and lemonade.
They couldn't wait for the party to start.
"This is so exciting." Pinkie squealed.
"I know, I've never thrown a baby shower before." Cheese told her.
"And I've never had one thrown for me."
Just then the doorbell rang. Cheese answered the door, and found some of Pinkie's friends, Sans Smirk, and the Cakes outside.
"Welcome everypony, come on in." he invited.
They came in, and Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Rarity hurried over to Pinkie.
"Pinkie Pie, so good to see you." Rarity told her.
"You're lookin' great, Pinkie." added Applejack.
"You really think so. Sometimes I feel like I swallowed a giant ball." Pinkie admitted.
"Ah, don't think like that. You've got that pregnant glow." Rainbow Dash assured.
"It's good to see you again, Miss Pinkie Pie." Sans Smirk told her.
"You too, Sans. How's the factory?"
"It's going quite well. Mr. Cheese Sandwich has come up with some great new gags."
"Well I say we get this party started." Cheese declared.
The ponies began eating and talking. After a few more minutes, the doorbell rang again. This time Pinkie answered, and saw her family and Mudbriar.
"Mom, Dad you made it." she squealed, hugging them.
"Hello, Pinkamena." said Igneous Rock.
"Thou are looking very well. How are thou feeling?" wondered Cloudy Quartz.
"I'm feeling great. Come on in."
Her parents went in, and saw Cheese Sandwich.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Pie. Great to see you." he told them.
"Likewise, Cheese Sandwich." Igneous Rock told him.
Then she turned to her sisters and Mudbriar.
"Limestone it's great to see you."
"You better be taking care of yourself." Limestone wanted to know.
"Don't worry, I am. Nice you see you, Marble you've been doing good?"
"Mmm hmm." Marble answered.
"And Maud it's wonderful to see you, and you too Mudbriar."
She threw her forelegs around Maud.
"Hi, Pinkie." Maud said.
"Hello, Pinkie Pie." added Mudbriar.
"Come on in, and join the fun."
Inside everypony was having a nice time at the shower.
"You two must be really excited to become grandparents." Mrs. Cake told Pinkie's parents.
"'Tis something we're excited for." replied Cloudy Quartz.
"We're looking forward to it." added Igneous Rock.
"So Pinkie, are you ready for your little bundle of joy to arrive?" Fluttershy asked.
"Oh you bet, we have the nursery all ready for them."
"Do you know whether its gender yet?" wondered Rarity.
"No, Cheese and I wanted to be surprised."
"I hope Twilight and Spike get here soon." said Rainbow Dash.
"Me too, it's not a party without them." Pinkie agreed.
Just like that, the doorbell rang again. Cheese opened the door, and two guards stepped in.
"Presenting her royal highness, Princess Twilight Sparkle and her royal advisor, Spike." one announced.
Then Twilight and Spike stepped inside.
"Hi everypony." Twilight greeted.
"Hey, guys." Spike added.
"Twilight, Spike!" the Mane 5 cheered, and hurried to them.
They hugged, it had been a while since they saw each other.
With everypony there they started playing some baby shower games. They wrapped toilet paper around Pinkie's belly while trying not to rip it. They were given drinks with ice cubes in, and in some of the ice were little plastic foals.
Whoever was able to melt their foal out of the ice first had to say "my water broke", and won a prize. After Maud won the prize, Pinkie and Cheese opened the presents they received. First they opened the presents from the Cakes.
From Mr. and Mrs. Cake they got a baby blanket decorated with baked treats, and from Pound and Pumpkin they gave them some of their old baby toys.
"These toys are still in great condition." said Pinkie.
"And this blanket will look good in the baby's crib." added Cheese.
"We're glad you like them." replied Mrs. Cake.
"We thought the toys would be a good idea." mentioned Pound Cake.
Next they opened the presents from Pinkie's family. Her mom and dad gave them some geodes to decorate the nursery with.
"Thanks, Mom and Dad."
"Your welcome, Pinkie." said Igneous Rock.
"We used geodes to decorate yours and your sisters nurseries when you were foals." added Cloudy Quartz.
"Here, Pinkie, open mine next." urged Limestone.
She did, and inside was were baby rattles.
"There are great, the baby's gonna love shaking these." said Cheese, as he took them out and rattled them.
"I knew you'd like them. Marble's is next."
Marble's gift was a picture frame made of stone, where they could put the baby's hoofprints.
"We love it, thanks Marble."
Marble smiled shyly.
"Here's ours, Pinkie." Maud informed, giving her a box.
"Thank you, Maud."
The gift was a mobile, the handle was wooden but was smooth and sleek. And there were little rocks carved in the shape of stars.
"This is beautiful." "Did you make it yourselves?" Cheese wanted to know.
"Technically, I made the handle and Maud made the star sculptures." explained Mudbriar.
"This is going right on the crib." Pinkie declared.
"Thank you." Cheese replied.
From her friends, they got a portable crib from Applejack made from apple trees. Rainbow Dash gave them some rainbow diapers, Rarity gifted them with some homemade baby clothes, Fluttershy got them some stuffed animal toys, Twilight and Spike gave them a book on foal care, and Sans Smirk gave them more diapers.
The couple were very happy with the gifts, their baby was going to be surrounded by great ponies.
After everyone left, Cheese gave Pinkie a gift from him for the baby.
"Take a look at this."
From a box he pulled out a rubber chicken with a 4 on it.
"Oh, Cheese you got the baby a Boneless 4?"
"I thought it would a great gift. Especially since you liked Boneless 3 as my wedding gift to you."
"The baby will love it."
The next month, Pinkie and Cheese were excited that their little baby would be due any day now. The Pie family decided to stay in Ponyville until the baby was at least a couple weeks old. And Twlight and Spike would also come to see the baby when it was born.
Then one morning while Pinkie and Cheese were discussing gags, Pinkie felt something shift.
"Oh, Cheese. I think it's time." she informed.
"Time, you mean that time?" Cheese wanted to know.
"Yeah. We're having a baby!" she squealed, grabbing his hooves.
"We're having a baby!"
Cheese quickly grabbed Pinkie's suitcase, and the two hurried out of the house and to the hospital. All through town they chanted "we're having a baby!" Everypony heard them, including their friends and family.
"It's finally happening?" asked Rainbow Dash as she flew down to them.
"The baby's coming?" wondered Maud, stepping to them.
"Yep, we're on our way to the hospital." Pinkie told them.
"Thou best beware, Pinkamena." warned Cloudy Quartz.
"Of what, I'm having a baby? What's to beware about that?"
At the hospital, Pinkie realized what her mother was trying to warn her about.
"Breathe, Pinkie, breathe." urged Cheese.
Pinkie did, and finally her contraction subsided.
"Maybe this is going to be harder than I thought." Pinkie replied.
"Don't you worry, Pinkie. It'll be okay." Applejack comforted.
"Yeah, we've faced all kinds of powerful villains, you can handle this." added Rainbow Dash.
"Did anypony tell Twilight?" Pinkie asked.
"I sent a message by one of my birds." informed Fluttershy.
Just then Dr. Horse came into the lobby.
"Ah, Pinkie Pie, Cheese Sandwich I got the call that you were here."
"Right on time." Pinkie replied.
"Well let's get you into a room."
Everypony wished Pinkie and Cheese good luck, and they were taken away.
In a delivery room, Pinkie was given a hospital gown to wear, and Cheese was given scrubs.
"Cheese, I have to be honest, I'm feeling really scared right now." Pinkie admitted.
"Don't you worry, Pinkie. I'm right here. Here have a sip of water." Cheese told her, giving her a small cup.
Pinkie drank the water, and waited for what would happen next. Then as another contraction came on, Dr. Horse and a couple of nurses came into the room.
"Okay, Pinkie, it's time to get started." Dr. Horse told her.
In the waiting room, everypony waited for any news.
"Do you think she's all right?" wondered Fluttershy.
"Do not worry. Thy doctors will take good care of her." Igneous Rock told her.
"I just hope Twilight and Spike get here soon." said Maud.
"Technically, they're here now." Mudbriar informed, as he looked out the window.
Sure enough the royal coach landed on the ground, and Princess Twilight and Spike stepped out of it. Then they came inside.
"Hi, everypony." she greeted.
"I hope we're not too late." Spike added.
"No, the doctor hasn't come back yet." Limestone replied.
"We're just waitin'." said Applejack.
So Twilight and Spike joined the others in waiting.
About two hours later, Dr. Horse came into the waiting room.
"What's happened?" asked Fluttershy.
"Did the baby arrive all right?" wondered Rarity.
"Is our daughter all right?" Cloudy Quartz wanted to know.
"One at a time please. I'm happy to say Pinkie's doing just fine, and she successfully had a healthy little colt." Dr. Horse announced.
Everypony cheered happily, with the exception of the Pie family and Mudbriar who just smiled.
"You're welcome to go up and see her. She's in room 336."
And that's what everypony did. In their room, Cheese was wiping sweat off Pinkie's forehead.
"You're great out there." he complimented.
"(Sighs) It was hard, but I'm glad you were with me." Pinkie replied.
There was then a small knock at the door, and when it opened everypony came in.
"Hey, everypony." Pinkie greeted.
"Hi, Pinkie how're you feeling?" asked Twilight.
"Tired, but fine."
"Was it hard?" wondered Rainbow Dash.
"You know it."
"Enough chit chat, what's the baby look like?" Limestone wanted to know.
"You're about to find out." Cheese informed.
A nurse came in, rolling a portable plastic baby crib with her magic.
"Here he is." She levitated the baby, who was wrapped in a blue blanket out of the crib, and into Pinkie's arms. She left, and everypony gathered around to see the baby. Pinkie unwrapped him, and revealed that he had a light yellow coat, and a frizzy pink mane.
"He's adorable." Spike gushed.
"Tis a very handsome colt." Igneous Rock observed, smiling a little.
"Does he have a name yet?" Maud asked.
"We've decided to name him after both of us." Cheese told her.
"His name is Cheese Pie. But for short we're gonna call him Li'l Cheese." Pinkie explained.
"I think that's a great name." Twilight told her.
"Mmm hmm." agreed Mable.
As Li'l Cheese opened his eyes, which were revealed to be green like his dad's, smiled at all the ponies around him. He was definitely going to have a good life.
