Sleep.

For most, it was a simple act of lying down on a mattress and pulling a blanket over oneself as their head made contact with a pillow. But for others, it was a fleeting prize. Some went to sleep early, whilst others were night owls. Still yet others were an unholy mix of both.

For Azula, the peeking of the first rays of that celestial gas ball ensured she'd rise regardless of the time. Back in her home country, there was a familiar consistency in which it rose and set, dictating the times she must wake and sleep. Here, in the southern ice deserts, the sun never set during the year's end, which for a while played havoc on her sleep schedule. But then again, it was something she would gladly endure if it meant she could selfishly spend four long months with her lover, no, fiancée.

For Sokka, who spent his formative years in the hostile lands of white and cold, sleep was something that one did as and when one pleased, provided of course the errands of the day were attended to. In fact, this was something that had been a source of petty arguments when he spent the harshest of winters as an assistant to her in her native isles. Despite the fact that he had finished his load of work, his act of napping in the middle of the day apparently gave off the impression that he was a slacker when he was anything but.

Then again, no one ever dared called him that to his face when he was all but joined at the hip with the princess, who once near beat a nobleman to death with her fists after said fool dare question her choice of lover. Regardless, after three years of traveling back and forth between each other's respective homelands, their bodies instinctively knew how to adjust.

Which made their current location of residence all the more interesting as it was the nascent heart of the United Republic of Nations, Republic City. Not too far south that the midnight sun would pose a problem, not too far north that the sun would rise and set too early. A perfect place to settle down and perhaps, raise a family.
