Elias made it to his feet. The referee raised his hand in victory while Miz discretely rolled out of the ring to let Elias have his moment. His chest was heaving from the match he had just had. That didn't stop him from cracking a little smile before calling for a microphone. It was handed to him seconds later.
"You all know it as well as I do. I'm the best wrestler around here. So good that I can take down anyone, even after a brutal match like the one I just had," he said. "So what do you say? Is there anyone in the back stupid enough to step up to me?"
He tossed the microphone aside and waited. Nothing happened at first. He laughed and walked towards the ropes. Then all the lights went out. The audience made noises. Everyone probably had a few guesses who it could be when the lights went out like this. Elias knew better. He knew everyone was in for a treat. Wolf grey eyes flashed across the titantron, and then Glaphyra's voice sounded.
"Did you miss me?"
The audience erupted with cheers. Elias would have loved to cheer along with them but he had a role to play. A haunting tune started and a spotlight was turned on. It hit her perfectly as she stood there on top of the ramp in a black and grey catsuit.
She slowly started making her way down the ramp. Elias was happy the spotlight wasn't on him so he got a few moments to watch her entrance. Her long, black hair with the silver ends was swaying along with her body. Her wolf grey eyes never left him. She reached the ring, walked up the stairs and entered between the middle and top rope.
She went to stand face to face with him, and the audience cheered even louder. She was not a small woman. She was tall, curvy and had muscles. There was a reason she had been allowed to toss some of the men around in the past. Because it was believable that she could.
The light in the arena was turned on again, the bell sounded to start the match, and the head-butt came so fast before anyone could react. He stumbled backwards and sold it before flying towards her with a fist to her face. The brawl was on.
They both knew this story was important. Not as much from a fighting standpoint but more from a personal standpoint. Everyone knew they were a couple. And everyone thought they knew that they had broken up. The rumors kept piling up when none of them reached out through social medias to correct anyone. Suddenly there were rumors about a bad breakup, how they both had cheated, who they were suddenly dating instead, and so on. There was nothing to the rumors but the fans didn't know that. They sucked up the lies created by other fans and ran with them.
The truth was silly. She had to have a week off to have a wisdom tooth removed. Nothing to even write a storyline around. She ended with a tough infection that had to keep her off tv for several more weeks while she battled it. That's when the rumors started. WWE knowing they might have something to build on from there decided to keep her off tv for longer while he continued wrestling. They waited for the right moment to strike. When everyone thought there was so much hatred between them that she had asked for her release. Who created that rumor, they probably would never know. Not that it mattered. It was just another lie.
"Backbreaker," he whispered.
He lifted her up and slammed her back down on his knee. She sold it perfectly. He kicked her lazily with his boot while she rolled towards the ropes. She rolled out under them and he reached over them to grab her hair. Her fist came flying into his face. He stumbled backwards and waited for the impact. She jumped up on the top rope and flew towards him like a beautiful bird. He caught her and they went down on the mat together. Her fists came flying like crazy. She was a fast hitter. He took every punch and laid there looking defeated.
She got up, ran to the ropes, bounched off them and came flying in with a knee straight to his face. Of course he didn't feel a thing but he laid there as if he had died. She grabbed his leg, leaned her body weight over his chest, and the referee counted to three. He raised his hand just enough to give her a quick scratch on her thigh. A sign of respect and a way to tell her he had a lot of fun in their match.
"Here is your winner: Glaphyra!" Mike Rome said.
The haunting tune started again. She stood up and took in the cheers from the audience for a second before leaving the ring and walked up the ramp. Elias rolled over on his side to watch her disappear up the ring. The light in the arena indicated they had gone to commercials. He rolled out of the ring and sold the pain while disappearing up the ramp too.
"Well done," Hunter said. "That was amazing. Such chemestry between you."
"There's a reason for that," Elias smirked.
Hunter chuckled and sat back down. Elias walked over to Glaphyra, wrapped an arm around her waist and leaned down to peck her lips.
"I love you, skunk," he said.
"I love you too, stinky," she said.
They grinned at each other and left gorilla. They walked hand in hand down the hall towards the locker rooms.
"What rumors will hit social medias first?" He asked. "Did we get back together, or is the company cashing in on our failed relationship?"
"Uh, tough choice," she laughed. "How about both? They're cashing in first and then we'll realize we're still in love and get back together."
They stopped in front of the locker rooms. He smiled at her before leaning down to peck her lips again.
"No one wants the truth. It's boring that we're still in love like we've always been, and that nothing bad happened between us," he said.
"I prefer us boring," she shrugged. "I'm not much for drama outside of the ring."
"Me too," he said. "I'm looking forward to a nice, boring day with you tomorrow. Just the two of us on our old couch watching movies while ordering plain pizza."
"With pineapple," she said. "We better shower. Thank you for the match. That was the highlight of my month."
"Even better than what I did to you last weekend?" He smirked.
"We do not talk about that out in the open," she laughed. "Remember, we're supposed to be boring."
He winked at her and licked his lips.
"I'll do it again tomorrow between movies and pizza," he said.
"Fuck me," she muttered.
"That's the plan," he chuckled. "Go shower, skunk. You stink as bad as me."
