OPENING SEQUENCE:
Wiz: Lions are mostly symbolized as courageous beings, with their will burning as bright as fire itself.
Boomstick: And these two lions are FAR from cowardly! They're downright heroes, and they'll do whatever it takes to prevail!
Wiz: Laval, the prince of the Lion Tribe from Chima.
Boomstick: And Wildfire, a powerful Trap Master from Skylands. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
FIGHTER 1: LAVAL:
(Unleash The Power - Finley)
W: Within the 16 Realms of Ninjago, there lies a magical world called Chima. Although no humans existed in that realm, it was filled with anthropomorphic animals.
B: And it was filled with many different animal tribes! The Gorillas were basically peace-loving hippies, the Eagles were super smart, the Ravens were no-good thieves, the Wolves were incredible hunters, the Crocs were downright warrior material, the Rhinos basically wanted to smash stuff, and the Bears just...laid around and napped all day.
W: But no tribe was greater than the Lion Tribe, which ruled in their Lion Chi Temple right underneath Mount Cavora, which produced the world's main source of energy: CHI.
B: Ever heard of Pride Rock? Well, this might be considered Pride MOUNTAIN! Because this place is the capital of all Chima! They've even got a little pool of water that is NOT for swimming. Instead Chi orbs are formed there, and they can supercharge warriors when they insert one of these orbs into their armor!
W: King Lagravis is the leader of the Lion Tribe, but none are more heroic in Chima than his son, Laval.
B: THUNDERCATS, HOOOOOooohhhh wait, wrong show.
W: Laval is prince of the Lion Tribe, but has yet to understand what it means to be a true leader. He may want to be a responsible adult, but at heart, he's still just a kid. In fact, he prefers adventuring and having fun more than ruling.
B: And unlike Simba, his dad never dies! Well, THAT'S a good way to avoid a tragic backstory.
W: Except...it isn't. See, a long time ago, Laval was close friends with Cragger, the prince of the Crocodile Tribe. However, after his parents mysteriously vanished, Cragger became the new king of the Crocodile Tribe. But his sister Crooler had more devious plans…
Popup: Cragger's mother and father, Crunket and Crominus, had fallen down a massive chasm known as the Gorge of Eternal Depth, which was rumored to be bottomless. Luckily, they managed to escape from it.
B: See, Cragger once tried to use the awesome power of Chi, and he got addicted to it like me with beer. So, since she believed that her tribe wasn't getting their fair share of Chi, and that SHE should be the one ruling the tribe, Crooler used a Persuader Plant to mind control Cragger, and then have the tribe wage war against the lions.
W: This brought about the end of Chima's thousand-year peace, as well as Laval's friendship with Cragger.
B: Oh...Well, at least Laval managed to rekindle that friendship just in time to stop a bunch of insects from stealing all the Chi.
W: But during the conflict, Laval made some new friends. Eris was the princess of the Eagle Tribe, and a great scholar. Gorzan was a true brawler and sought to protect nature.
B: WOAH! A BIRD PLANE AND A GORILLA MECH?! THAT'S AWESOME! I GOTTA GET ONE OF THOSE! SPECIFICALLY THE MECH!
W: Laval also made friends with Bladvic, who...was a lot like his tribemates…
B: Oh COME ON! Will we EVER get to see the bears in action?!
W: Laval isn't a pushover either. He possesses great courage within his heart, and like all others of his tribe, he can let out a powerful roar to call other tribes to their aid, although it is implied that only the Royal Family and the Lion Legend Beast, which is an actual big lion, can do this.
B: Laval's also got a LOT of weapons! He wields Chi Bangers that act as flashbang grenades, a Jahak for when he's jousting in his super-fast Speedor, the Royal Shield that can act as a last-ditch strength booster via the crystal in the center, the Skroar which is a lance carved from a burned tree branch, the Skolder which is a torch-dagger hybrid and forged as a replacement for the Lion Legend Beast's tooth if it ever lost one, and like all heroes, Laval also has his very own badass sword: the Valious!
W: The variation Laval uses is called the Royal Valious, as the normal variant is mostly a greyish color. The Royal Valious is more of a golden color, and it is made out of an indestructible material known as Leochium, which is a precious gold material found at the foot of the Cavora Font. A royal Chi crystal represents the first king of the Lion tribe. Passed down through a line of worthy heirs to Laval, it enlightens and protects its bearer.
Popup: The Royal Valious also has a twin called the Royal Valious of Unity, but it is in the hands of Equila as part of a pact between the Lion and Eagle Tribes.
B: Only the bravest and most loyal protectors of CHIMA will ever be able to use it. Yep. It will knock the bejeebers out of you. But in his trip to the Outlands, Laval instead uses the Shado Valious, one of the four famous Royal Swords and has been missing for years. Once in the hands of Laval's uncle Lavertus, it can grant the user both stealth and skill. But when Laval puts in a Chi Orb into his armor, OH HO, YOU BETTER WATCH OUT!
W: When the CHI is placed into the harness, it releases a surge of energy into the wearer. It increases strength, speed and stamina, as well as enhancing instincts and natural senses, but only temporarily.
B: And the user becomes a freaking Bionicle Ultrabuild!
W: There are many different versions of Chi, from Chi Droplets to Reagul's artificial Chi, albeit with some hypnotized side effects, and even the powerful creating Golden Chi. But there's also ANOTHER variant: Fire Chi.
(Day of Glory - Finley)
Popup: It has been speculated that Golden Chi is actually Fire Chi. This has been neither confirmed nor denied, but this theory has been said to be supported by the fact that the Phoenix Tribe has an easier time manipulating Golden Chi than most others do.
B: When a bunch of icy zombie tribes popped up and decided to freeze up the entire world, Laval and friends fought back with the help of the Phoenix Tribe. Laval's Fire Chi allows him to do what he can do under the effects of normal Chi, but he also gains fire powers and could fire charge his weapons, and with these powers, he gained the more stronger Fire Valious! It's so powerful, it can slice through rock and iron, so almost nothing can stop this fiery blade.
W: But of course, Chima is a pretty big yet small world for a floating island, so Laval also has some forms of transportation.
B: The Speedor is super fast, but only travels where there's life, so you're done for if you get lost in the desert. The Fire Tracker is a high-speed ATV that has twin disk shooters and a biting maw. The Royal Fighter is a sleek battle tank complete with a Chi-powered cannon tower and also a biting mouth. Laval can even mount the Lion Legend Beast, complete with cool battle armor. But what's the MOST badass is Laval's Fire Lion, the best gift you could get from a dad! It's a massive battle tank that can crush anything in its path, and even blow shit up with missiles from its quad-rocket pod! And when Laval inserts Fire Chi into it, it transforms into a powerful mech! Well, HALF a mech, cause it still doesn't have any legs.
W: In this mode, the Fire Lion can strike with powerful claws and can even act as a battering ram. But Laval does have some weaknesses. Much like normal cats, at first he couldn't swim.
(Horizon - Finley)
B: He's also made a few mistakes, such as when he threw the Crocodile Tribe's CHI into the Gorge of Eternal Depth, which caused the creation of the Crawlers. The second occurred later when he gave Scorm a CHI orb, which resulted in Scorm throwing CHI down a crevasse inhabited by the Ice Hunters, who the CHI caused to wake up. Man, you'd think he'd learn not to let some very important stuff fall down deep dark holes. He even faked his death and was banished to the Outlands, but that doesn't really matter. What does is that he also met the Green Ninja, visited other dimensions, and even used powerful keystones!
Popup: Technically, it was Cragger who caused the first incident by giving Laval the CHI of the Crocodile Tribe, so he could frame Laval for taking their CHI, but this can be disputed.
W: Still, Laval still has his fair share of feats, both ups and downs.
B: He managed to defeat the likes of Cragger, Worraz, the Crawlers, and Sir Fangar himself, taught the Lion Legend Beast how to swim, and even got the hots for a lioness chick called Li'Ella. That "romance" with Eris would NEVER work out!
Laval: Err what? I mean...she's not my girlfriend…
B: THAT'S what I said. Eugh…
W: But no matter what the challenge ahead might be, Laval will always be ready to face it, no matter what it takes.
(Laval raises the Royal Valious high)
Laval: For Chima!
FIGHTER 2: WILDFIRE:
(Skylanders Main Theme)
W: Within the very center of the universe, there exists a magical and vast realm consisting of infinite floating islands. This...is Skylands.
B: Aka a NIGHTMARE for someone who's afraid of heights. If this place has infinite sky, what would happen if someone fell off an island?!
W: Relax, they're teleported back up.
B: Phew!
W: However, since it connected one place of the universe to another, many evil figures sought to conquer Skylands, and later everywhere else. And no gang of crooks were more villainous than the Doom Raiders.
B: These seven sinister psychos sought to rule all of Skylands, and there was only one heroic strike force that could stop them! The Skylanders!
W: More specifically, the Trap Team. Also known as Trap Masters, they wielded weapons forged from pure Traptanium, which is the strongest material in Skylands and can weaken those with evil intent. And among these heroic trappers was the Fire Skylander, Wildfire.
(Skylanders Trap Team Main Theme)
B: Wildfire is, like all Skylanders, courageous and has a heart of gold. Well, that AND a BODY of gold.
W: Wildfire was once a young lion of the Fire Claw Clan, about to enter into the Rite of Infernos – a test of survival in the treacherous fire plains. However, because he was made of gold, he was treated as an outcast and not allowed to participate. But this didn't stop him. That night, Wildfire secretly followed the path of the other lions, carrying only his father's enchanted shield. Soon he found them cornered by a giant flame scorpion. Using the shield, he protected the group from the beast's enormous stinging tail, giving them time to safely escape. And though Wildfire was injured in the fight, his father's shield magically changed him – magnifying the strength that was already in his heart – making him the mightiest of his clan. Now part of the Trap Team, Wildfire uses his enormous Traptanium-bonded shield to defend any and all who need it!
B: So he gets his very own shield because he was really good with his dad's. And he doesn't use it for just blocking. He can throw it like Captain America, charge forward like a battering ram, and since this shield is forged from Traptanium, he can block almost ANYTHING.
W: Aside from his shield, Wildfire also has several other abilities. He can access his Fire Lion Form where he runs on all fours after getting his Soul Gem (don't worry, his shield reforms when he shatters it), unleash powerful Fire Roars, and pull enemies closer with his Chains of Fire.
B: GET OVER HERE!
W: With these powers and more, Wildfire helped his fellow Trap Masters pursue and capture the Doom Raiders and lock them up in the most secure and inescapable prison: Cloudcracker Prison.
B: This thing was made out of pure Traptanium, but even the strongest material in Skylands has its limits. Once this little bald guy called Kaos blew it up and freed the villains inside, Wildfire and the other Trap Masters were sent hurtling towards our world, where they became literal toys, which young Portal Masters found and sent them back through portals on their world.
Popup: The Superchargers, Senseis, and Imaginators have no backstory about how they were banished to Earth, so it's likely that they were never even banished at all.
W: But they weren't the only ones to find themselves in this world of Portal Masters. Several Traptanium shards also fell with them, forming into powerful Traps, several for each of the ten elements.
B: There were originally eight of them, but Kaos unleashed two more by blowing up Cloudcracker: Light and Dark. You know, maybe one of them was locked up in Cloudcracker for a REASON!
W: Actually, those two elements emerged from their own realms after the foundation of Skylands was shaken since the explosion of Cloudcracker Prison was so immense. And speaking of the other elements, the original eight are called Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Life, Undead, Magic, and Tech.
B: HA! Let's see the Avatar try to master all of THAT! Four down, six to go!
(Kaos Theme - Skylanders Trap Team)
W: Unsurprisingly, Wildfire is part of the Fire Element, but there's also something else to him. From his top secret lair, Kaos had engineered a dangerous material known as Dark Traptanium – which he intended to use to capture the Skylanders once and for all! Caught off guard, several Skylanders fell into his trap and were imprisoned within the crystal walls. But the Trap Masters arrived just in time and shattered the dark traps with their weapons made from pure Traptanium! Though they were free, they had absorbed enough of the dark energy within, transforming them into dark versions of themselves!
B: Wildfire happened to be one of them, and by absorbing the dark energy, he turned into the black lion and evil self known as Dark Wildfire! In this form, Wildfire channels a bit of the Dark Element and combines it with his own to fight evil. But if he loses control, he goes berserk and turns evil!
W: And ultimately, WHEN Wildfire returned, he was not alone, as he and his fellow Trap Masters were to work alongside other Skylanders, even the Giants and Swap Force, to help stop the Doom Raiders AND Kaos yet again.
B: And Wildfire has had his fair share of heroics. He managed to block and reflect a petrifying energy beam from The Golden Queen, which could turn Cali into a golden statue. He also threw his shield like a boomerang to take out Troll Bombers, and even helped his fellow Skylanders defeat the likes of Chef Pepper Jack, the Golden Queen, and even Kaos himself. And he returned later on to help fight against both canon OC Doomlanders and The Darkness itself, which is a sentient being instead of a bunch of clouds. But WAIT! There's more!
(Fire Elemental Area - Skylanders Trap Team)
W: When Wildfire absorbs Soul Stones and Elemental Ores, he can transform into his Awakened Form, which is entirely stronger than ever before. Thanks to his element, he can also fire Inferno explosions from turrets and even build furnace-powered flamethrowers as tower defenses. He can also unleash a powerful Trap Attack by collecting enough Traptanium Shards, and his weapon advantage helps weaken villains so that they can become locked up in traps and ultimately become redeemed and fight for good.
B: But being of the Fire Element DOES have its downsides. Sure, Wildfire might easily be able to kick the asses of Air and Undead Beings, but he won't stand a chance against any elemental being of Water and Tech. Water makes sense, since cats hate swimming, but what kinda vendetta do fire lions have with machines?
W: Wildfire can also improve his abilities to make them stronger. His Heat Shield can block incoming damage and burn enemies, the Shield Slasher path allows for better attacks and combos with his shield, and the Chain Champion path improves his Chains of Fire and Fire Roar attacks.
(Cut to Wiz and Boomstick)
B: You know, I've always wanted to breathe fire like that guy. Here, lemme try something. (He chugs a beer can and lights a match. He manages to burp, but the match goes out. He inhales some of the small smoke and coughs) Nope...nope. Still don't got it…
(Cut back to stats)
W: Still, his shield symbolizing his goal as guardian and protector, and his heart ablaze with courage, Wildfire has a never-give-up will and will fight alongside his friends to defend the magical land of Skylands from any kinds of evil.
B: Because no matter what kind of bad guy he has to lock up, Wildfire will always be pushing forward with his unbreakable shield and will, because a best defense is ALWAYS a good offense.
(Wildfire is summoned)
Wildfire: Bringing The Heat!
PRELUDE TO BATTLE
W: Alright, the combatants are set! And we've run the data through all possibilities! Let's end this debate once and for all!
B: It's time for a DEATH BATTLLLLEEEEEEE!
THE FIGHT:
(Chompy Mage Boss - Skylanders Giants)
The two lions prepare for battle on BattleBrawl Island as the crowd cheers.
Wildfire: Yield to the shield!
Laval: Here we go!
Death Battle Announcer: FIGHT!
The two lions charge, with Wildfire's Traptanium Shield blocking Laval's Royal Valious. The two trade blows, with Laval dodging Wildfire's Fire Roar, but is thrown by his Chains of Fire. He grunts as he tumbles to the ground.
Laval: UH OH!
Laval dodges as Wildfire dives shield-first into the ground, then counters with a Chi Banger, stunning Wildfire. Once he recovers, he enters his Fire Lion Form after smashing through his Traptanium shield. Laval manages to mount Wildfire and nearly makes him run straight off the edge of the arena, but Wildfire manages to throw him off and revert back. Luckily, Laval manages to leap back up after having caught his fall by stabbing Royal Valious into the ground.
Wildfire: Can't be contained!
Laval: Oh yeah? Well, we'll just see about that!
Laval inserts a Chi orb into his chestplate, then roars as a surge of energy flows through him.
Chi Laval: RAAAAAAAHHHHHH!
Chi Laval begins to land heavy blows on Wildfire, his supercharged instincts helping him dodge incoming attacks. He even manages to blitz through Wildfire's Heat Shield, making him roll onto the ground. As Wildfire tries to get back up, Chi Laval notices his body turn from gold to black.
Dark Wildfire lets out a powerful roar, then laughs.
Dark Wildfire: The heat is on!
Chi Laval: Woah. Looks like someone overdid it on the CHI...
Dark Wildfire is able to hold his own against Chi Laval, but the Lion Prince's supercharged Chi attacks manage to overpower Dark Wildfire.
Chi Laval blocks a powerful shield bash, then retaliates with a sword slash, making Wildfire yell as he is knocked back again. However, just as Chi Laval is about to land a KO, the Chi effects run out!
Laval: What?! Oh no!
Dark Wildfire manages to get back up, but begins to struggle as he begins to slightly lose control over his form. Seeing his chance, Laval pulls out a Fire Chi Orb.
Laval: I'm really glad I brought this along with me!
He inserts the Fire Chi into his chestplate, and lets out another roar as he transforms into his Fire Chi attire, as well as his sword becoming Fire Valious.
However, this also releases Fire Elemental Ore when reacting to the magic of Skylands. Dark Wildfire happens to absorb this and transforms into his Awakened Form.
Awakened Wildfire: Ha-ha! MY turn to burn!
Reforming his Traptanium Shield, Wildfire lets out a massive stream of fire, which Laval is able to block. Using the Locate Keystone, Laval summons a massive geyser of water that washes over Wildfire, weakening him. When he tries to unleash another Fire Roar, he only coughs out smoke.
While he is stunned at this, Wildfire suddenly snaps back to focus and blocks a strike from Fire Valious, but the Traptanium Shield shatters!
To finish him off, Laval takes out his Royal Shield and, with the strength boost it gives him, bashes Wildfire hard enough to send him falling off the arena!
With Lavala the winner by Ring-Out, the crowd cheers as Laval holds Fire Valious high.
THE AFTERMATH:
(Main Theme - Legends of Chima: Laval's Journey)
DB Announcer: KO!
B: Oh man. I hope THIS cat landed on his feet.
W: Wildfire possessed the same fiery powers as Laval, but he still had one weakness that Laval managed to overcome. Water.
B: Plus, for being the strongest material in Skylands, Traptanium isn't really that indestructible. Aside from no power advantage since Laval didn't have any evil intent, his Fire Valious was nearly unstoppable, so there was a chance that it could break the shield or vice versa. And Laval's had some experience riding lions before!
W: Dark Wildfire did possess a strength advantage itself, but Wildfire had the risk of losing control. And his Awakened Form could only be an advantage for so long, as the Fire Elemental Ores could also be weakened by fire. And although Laval was inadvertently the cause of his transformation, he was easily able to correct it thanks to his experience from the Dimensions Crisis.
B: Even if the ONLY thing he did was use his Fire Lion mech to blast a fiery demon controlled by the Riddler after emerging from a summon. No wonder he knows how to use it so well!
W: Even IF the battle had to take place in an open area, Wildfire would STILL be outclassed due to the many vehicles Laval had at his disposal.
B: And it looks like this flame...has been extinguished.
W: The winner is Laval.
