Your Are My Other Side
"So, you got a room on this ship or…?" Ava looked at Sara over the rum float the captain had made for them. A post first date treat, since they missed dessert on account of fighting pirates who had tried to commandeer the ship. Ava couldn't stop smiling, as she was still thinking about the epic first kiss that they had shared moments before being interrupted.
Sara smiled at Ava saying, "Let's go find out." Leaving her float, she walked out of the galley and into the corridor. Ava followed closely behind. She was giddy with excitement but nervous at the same time. She almost bumped into Sara when the shorter blonde stopped abruptly in front on closed doors. "This is me." She said simply before waving her hand in front of the pad that alerted the doors to open. "Guess I do have a room on this ship." She winked at Ava before stepping inside. Ava followed.
The doors closed automatically, as Ava took in her surroundings. Noting the books and various knives laid out on shelves. The room had a softer vibe than she would have guessed. It was nice. She snapped back to attention when she noticed the way Sara was looking at her.
"You good?" Sara asked.
"Yes!" Ava said probably a little to loudly. "Your room is nice. Neater than I thought it would be…" she trailed off.
"Ava", Sara said lowering her eyes and looking at Ava. "Did you ask to see my room so that you can compliment me on how neat it is?" She let out a low sultry laugh.
Now Ava blushed. "No, I did not." She said starting to look down.
"Good." Sara held her hand out towards the taller blonde. "Come here."
Ava took a couple steps towards Sara, grasping her outstretched hand. Now just inches apart from each other, Sara reached her other hand up slowly until it came to rest on the back of the agent's neck. Ava breath hitched as she felt that gentle hand undo the tie holding her tight bun in place. Her long wavy hair fell down around her shoulders as she and Sara continued to look each other in the eye. They held each other's gaze for another few seconds until Sara spoke again. This time she had that trademark smirk on her face.
"You should always wear your hair down Agent Sharpe." She ran her hand through it once before bringing both her hands to grasp the lapels of the tall agent's Time Bureau blazer. She gave Ava a wink.
Ava smiled down at Sara but didn't say anything. She was at a loss for words anyway. Bright blue eyes looked up at her. She felt Sara take another step forward, now the two of them standing less than an inch apart. Impossibly close. Still holding onto Ava's jacket, Sara tugged it slightly, signaling for the taller woman to bend so that she could reach her mouth. Sara wasted no time at all placing a soft kiss on Ava's lips. This wasn't like their first kiss. That was passionate and dramatic. This was gentle. They parted slightly though their faces remaining close.
"Sara…" Ava whispered softly.
This time it was Sara who didn't respond. Not with words anyway. She slid Ava's blazer off her shoulders and down her arms. They let the garment fall to the floor with a soft thud. Sara's crystal blue eyes met Ava's blue-gray ones before their lips met in another kiss. Ava wrapped her arms around the smaller blonde's waist as Sara's strong arms wrapped themselves around her shoulders. She felt Sara's tongue reach out to deepen the kiss, and Ava gladly accepted. Time and space all seemed to slip away as they kissed even deeper. As they held each other even closer.
This is it. This is heaven. Ava never wanted this moment to end….
Ava woke up with a start, for a moment forgetting where she was. Looking to her left, she saw that Sara was indeed sleeping peacefully beside her. Ava quickly realized she had just been dreaming. Remembering her first date with Sara. Her first time with Sara. Sighing, she wiped the thin sheen of sweat that formed across her brow. She was glad she hadn't woken Sara up. Her girlfriend… No, her fiancé needed all the rest that she could get. Sara had been rescued just days ago, and she was still clearly exhausted. Ava was glad that she finally relented and allowed Gideon to give her something to help sleep at night. Still when Ava looked down at the sleeping woman, her brow was furrowed with what seemed to be fear.
Ava looked down at the blue engagement ring that now sat on her finger and smiled. She and Sara Lance were engaged. And as happy as she was, as happy as everyone was that Sara is home and safe, Ava couldn't help but worry. Sara had obviously been through a lot while she was abducted. The thing with Sara was, she didn't want to talk until she was ready to talk. Not that she was pushing Ava away. She just wasn't ready. Ava got out of bed thinking about going to make some tea to help her fall back asleep. Tomorrow was a new day. She had her girl back, and that's what mattered the most. She just hoped that whatever Sara was going through and whatever she was feeling, she would allow Ava to help her through it. She slipped out of their bed, careful not to disturb Sara, and headed to the kitchen.
"Hey 'Soon to be Mrs. Captain'.", Nate said walking into the room.
Ava looked up from the tea she had just poured. "Hey."
"Can't sleep?" He took in the look if wariness she had on her face. He grabbed a mug for himself and let her pour some tea into it.
"I was. Then I had a dream about…" She stopped herself, not wanting to get into it. Not even with Nate. "I was just feeling restless I guess."
Nate nodding, acknowledging that he understood. "Sara still sleeping?"
"Yeah, the sedative Gideon gave her is pretty strong. She needs the rest." She took a small sip of her tea.
"For sure.", Nate agreed. "And she needs some time to process too. A lot has happened. More so for her than us."
"I know. Trust me, nobody is happier than I am to have her back." She toyed with the ring on her finger before continuing. "And I know she's happy too. I just want to take all the pain of what she must've gone through, you know?"
Nate reached over to put his hand over Ava's so she would stop playing with the ring and look at him. "Hey," he started until she looked up at him. "Sara is the strongest person on this ship. She's the strongest person we all know. So trust me when I tell you she's gonna be okay. Okay?"
"You are right. She is strong. So strong I feel like she might try and keep what happened to her to herself." She rubbed both temples with her hands. "I told Sara that I want to be the one she comes to if something happens to her. And I screwed by not saying anything after Oliver died. I just don't want to make that mistake again."
"So don't." Nate said simply. "Let her know you're there for her. For whenever she's ready to deal. Go get some sleep Ava Sharpe. I'm sure your fiancé would like you to be by her side when she wakes up."
Ava nodded her gratitude as he picked up his mug and walked out into the hallway. He was right. Sara was strong. And they were going to get through whatever comes next together. The entire team had their backs. Feeling better after talking to Nate, she headed back to her and Sara's bedroom. She slipped through the doors when they opened and back into bed. She took in the relaxed look on Sara's face and smiled.
"What are you thinking about my love?" she whispered softly. She reached out a hand to gently tuck a stray strand of hair behind Sara's ear. Lying down next to Sara, Ava closed her eyes and tried to relax her body. Soon enough, she started to drift back to sleep, the sleepy time teat essentially doing its job.
