Hello everyone, I'm Obsidian Champion! I've never tried doing an SYOC myself in my entire time of being here on the site, but I wanted to try a hand on it since I've seen a lot of people doing it too. Apologies if this prologue is a teensy bit shabby, I tried anyway. XD I hope you guys enjoy it despite its errors!

The infamous host of Total Drama known as Chris McLean stood by a huge building, to what seemed like a manor. It didn't looked like someone abandoned it to say the least. Moreover, it looked like a grand mansion that has been taken care of since the past decade. It looked as almost if someone extremely rich lived in this place… or even the looks could compare to a royal household, considering all the designs in the littlest of details in the exterior.

A bemused smirk grew upon Chris' lips. He had always wanted to start production of a season of Total Drama in a place like this… he had been in a crummy summer camp, a film lot, a radioactive island, a manmade island, hell even all over the world to begin with. Maybe he had filmed his other seasons in even crazier places… underwater… underground… outer space… or even in the past or the future… hell even places you wouldn't even know that existed... there was a lot he could do. There was a lot he could have done… there was a lot of opportunities up ahead of him.

And this… this place didn't look as crazy as you could imagine, but his train of thought didn't stop there; this manor had around four floors to being with, if you counted the rooftop of course. There were rooms of where his future cast could live in… there were different things around to mess with. Maybe there could be even mysteries inside this very manor that no one, not even the owner, knows about.

Or at least to him.

The keys jingled on his hand, his index finger looped around the key ring to make sure it doesn't fall. The smirk never went away from his lips, not even a second. Sauntering forward, he couldn't help but look around to see if anyone was there. It would be quite suspicious to others. They could have easily thought that he may be some burglar or thief, or someone to pull off an incredibly mischevious stunt.

Once he reached the front door, his excitement only build up within him as he turned the keys to unlock the grand door.

Things were just getting started, he thought. And he was about to open up a door that leads to possibly endless possibilities.

As he finally took the first step in, he couldn't help himself but gazed in awe. He had the excited look of keeping the whole manor to himself, but that wasn't the case, or at least to the eyes of some.

What he first saw inside the manor was some sort of grand hallway. The manor in reality never had been touched for at least a month or two but everything looked as if there was no speck of dust anywhere… well, maybe there could be even the tiniest of dirt, but let's not go there.

A wide grin spread across his face; a look of wanting to roam around the house and just see things. You may be wondering if he ever did got tired of smirking and grinning in this little segment, but him? Maybe not, at the very least.

As he approached to what seemed like a grand living room, the first thing his eyes laid on was the curtains. They were white and dainty, but… why does it look like they were being blown? Chris could've sworn that today wasn't a windy day. Maybe it was just a light breeze passing by-

He kept his rather confused gaze on the windows until the sound of glass shattering was heard from behind him. He turned around. There was a flower vase that had fallen onto the floor. The oh so beautiful ranunculuses had their petals scattered on the maroon carpet, with their water soaking a part of the clothed floor.

The host flinched. He didn't know what was happening at this point. Wind? Definitely not the case. A breeze? Not that either. How would a light breeze push a vase off of its table and onto the floor?

Then what happened next?

"Who dares step into my mansion?"

Chris wanted to just jump up and call for help at that point, but he couldn't. Instead, he froze in shock and looked around frantically, trying to find an answer to a million questions at this rate. He looked left, right, behind him, below him, hell, even above him. But there was nothing. How was that even possible?

"Chris McLean?"

Someone was calling his name now? Oh, what kind of sorcery is this, he thought. He looked behind him without any hesitation and saw someone standing above him with a confused expression on his face… something that didn't matched the also confused but fearful expression of his own.

"You! Tell me, what is happening?" Chris demanded, running up to the person, shaking their shoulders.

The person looked about in the teenage years; a boy that stood a bit taller than the host. His black hair a bit messed up thanks to how Chris shook his shoulders. His black eyes that were locked on the host's frantic ones were now full of confusion, completely lost in what was happening just as much as how he is. Chris gazed over the boy he held on for a good minute, soon eyeing on the nametag the boy wore just by the pocket of his dress shirt: Dustin Newton-Obsidian.

"The voice… the voice that talked to you is… owner of this household."

Chris was even more confused at this point. A voice? How would some source of sound suddenly own a house?

"I am Dimetrius Ranunculus Knightfall… king of Manoria!" the voice declared into the thin air, Chris looked around, nothing seemed to have helped him in his utter state of confusion.

"King of what? Manoria? Psh!" The host could nearly laugh at this point. "We're not in a kingdom! Usually, there are no signs of kings and queens here! Plus, this beautiful place you call your home? It may look like some sort of castle fit for a royal family but it sure doesn't seem to be one!"

"Nonsense!" The voice known as Dimetrius roared into the room. Everything started shaking violently for five good seconds as if it were some sort of earthquake. "I am the king of this building! And you… the both of you… for entering here… shall be my servants!"

"But we can't see you, though!" the boy countered.

"Because I have died in honor to protect my beloved home!" Dimetrius shot back, soon regaining his breath after. "At least… my riches… are still being kept safe… waiting for a very trustworthy being to keep hold of it."

Chris widened his eyes. "Riches, huh?"

"Yes, gray-sweatered one. I could not simply get ahold of these riches myself as I am a spirit. So with you two who has stepped into my beautiful property after a long time… I beg of you, find someone who will be able to keep my riches." Dimetrius begged.

Chris thought of it for a moment. Could this be worth it? He had the million bucks kept in a suitcase, but these riches Dimetrius spoke of could add into the prize for whoever wins in his season of Total Drama. It could be a prize that he never thought of his past seasons. Of course he probably wouldn't keep them because to his eyes, they may look creepy to keep a spirit's wealth but whoever wins this wouldn't be a problem anymore. He could always get rid of them himself, but then, that was gold that they were speaking of.

"N-no thanks-"

"Leave it to me." Chris had his bemused smirk slowly returning to his face. He looked at the boy with a completely confiident look that contrasted the boy's rather nervous one. "You will now be my assistant. I know how we will get to decide who keeps it. They won't know about the riches and mysteries in this manor and it would be incredibly weird in your eyes, but if you trust me, it will all be worth it."

Wow, okay this was the weirdest prologue that I have ever written… and funny enough because this is the only prologue I have ever written in my life. XD Apologies if the theme sounded completely confusing and what their objective was, but I was going for a rather mysterious, medieval-ish with a mix of slight vintage sort of theme but I'm not sure if I nailed it down. XD

I hope you guys would also look forward to Chris' new assistant! Some of you guys may be familiar with him in a handful of SYOCs and I know a few of you have already written him, but I am taking him to a different route for this fic! I hope you will look forward to my version of him though! :D

Anyway, did I say that this was going to be an SYOC? Because it is! Here are the rules:

1. I know the theme of this season will be a bit… hmm… maybe unrealistic in some sort of way, but please, don't send anyone with superpowers. Everyone has to be realistically human. No superman or wonder woman wannabes with extreme powers, no furries, just normal teenage people.

2. I will only have 18 spots open, but you can send as many characters as you'd like. Just note that I won't accept more than two (2) from a single author.

3. PMs only please, no one would want to see a spoiled application in the reviews as they will only be rejected by me.

4. Your character doesn't exactly have to fit the theme, they could be anyone like nerds, fighters, shy type people, musical fanatics, comedians, anyone as long as they don't stray from the first rule. I will be picking a cast that will mesh well together and it won't be easy if like, 90% of the cast are straight up emos or something.

5. I know that this is probably a rule with most SYOCs, but I do not want any Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus. Everyone has to have a flaw. You can't just have a person whom everyone in the cast would love and be good at EVERYTHING. Not everyone is perfect. In fact, no one is.

6. The more detailed, the better. I can't guarantee you that I will portray your character accurately 100% so feel free to give some tips on how I should portray your character if they will be included in the final cut!

7. Subject of submission would preferably be [TDK] - [OC's Name]. If you're submitting more than one OC, please keep them in a separate message so that PMs would be easier to find.

8. Please use this form only. There are some parts of the form in which reading the prologue would be required to get a better understanding. (Mainly opinions on Chris' assistant and Dimetrius)

9. I won't have a deadline for the submissions, but I'll try to update the cast list from time to time.

That's all, I will post the rules once more along with the application on my profile for easy copy and paste! It's my first time to actually do an SYOC so please go easy on me lol.

I look forward to seeing what you guys can come up with!

Cheers!
