law clung to rosinante as the man scaled the steep hill, wind and snow obscuring his vision. rosinante clutched his baby closer to his chest, covering the boy in thick feathers to keep the cold out.

he was a stupid man and his stupidity would be the death of his son, the son he brought home not unlike the manner they were in now.

he knew what type of games doflamingo liked to play, he knew what the man was trying to prepare them for but the shivering of their boy made him regret agreeing to this.

the crunching of snow drew his attention to the left and he brought law deeper into his coat as a tall figure grew nearer. rosinante shivered, not from the cold but rather the fact that they hadn't made it to the halfway point and his brother had caught up.

he forced his exhausted legs to go faster up the hill, hoping that even this weather was enough to affect doflamingo, and give him those few extra minutes to reach the top.

law whined as pain coursed through his body, he was losing feeling in his fingers and the buckling legs of his father caused his pain to intensify.

he tugged at his father's shirts with aching fingers, 'cora-san, i dont like this game anymore.'

'just a little bit longer law,' the man reassured, checking over his shoulder. the shadow was gone but his brother's haki still registered.

'cora-san, it hurts,' law tugged harder as his eyes struggled to stay open. his hands were past freezing and he felt heat start to spread through his chest.

'okay, we're going home now,' rosinante promised as he placed a gentle kiss on the boy's hair, 'just give me a minute.'

'thank you. cora-san.' law smiled weakly before burying himself further into his father's chest.
