When the summons came, I knew deep in my what did the humans call it again… right, in my gut, that this would not end well. I gathered all my things and made my way to the council chambers, wondering all the while if she was going to follow through on her promises.

Taking my place, I looked over the other Ambassadors. Some faces held grief, and some had fear, and some controlled rage. One face had smug convea (satisfaction is what Gorden had called it). The look kindled my anger, but I tapped it down- now was not the time.

The doors swung open, and with my first glimpse of her face, I knew she would be keeping every one of those vows she made me three cycles ago. Striding through the door was the human Ambassador, surrounded by four Marines', with her phone in her hand and not looking or paying the council any attention. Her red hair hung loose and flowing down her back, her face clear of makeup and no jewelry on her body at all. Her bright blue dress in the shape of that ridiculous police box from her favorite show ended at mid-chunt, no mid-thigh, and on her feet nothing but a pair of thin, what did she call them, oh yes, flip flops in the color of an old Earth flag.

The whisperes that had started ended with her walk to the head table, and everyone waited with bated breath to see what would happen next.

Master Umbidge spoke, "What is the meaning of this?"

Lana shrugged, never looking up, "I have no idea you summoned me."

Mistress Alonea sighed, "Your attire, Ambassador. Why are not properly attired for the council meeting?"

She spoke, not looking away from the device in her hand, "I was in the process of boarding a transport when I was told I was to being summoned. When I tried to refuse, I was told that I was to walking or I would be dragged. I didn't feel like flashing my underwear to the whole galactic alliance, so I walked."

This was my chance. "If you don't mind me asking, Ambassador Lana, where you were headed? The session doesn't end for another two of Earth's moon cycles."

She finally looked up, "Home," she said, but with no soft smiles or excitement, that word usually contains, the look on her face one of mixed rage, grief, and pain will be one I remember till my ending day.

"Why are we pandering to this human," General Oska growled, "if she is not attired and ready for this meeting, then she needs to leave, and we can get on with the important business."

"Fine by me," Lana replied and turned on her heel to leave. She was halfway to the door when Madam Ugana trilled, "I thought you would be better than your race's baser instinct, but I guess I was wrong."

She stopped dead in her track. One of the Marines named Jason let out a pained groaned while Gorden let out a small "fuck", and the other two shoulders just sagged. As one, all five of them turned. "Care to elaborate on that, Madam?" Lana's tone was soft and low like shinea, but it sent shivers down my spine. I had never heard anyone speak like that before. I am delighted she's on my side.

Madam Ugana's eyes were slitted as she spoke, "Members of the Ussit destroyed six educational boarding facilities three cycles ago, and I assumed you would be one of the first members of this body using this as proof of action for us to take action against them."

The Ambassador's face went through a myriad of emotions too fast for me to process, then she stunned the hall with full belly laughter; she laughed so hard she stumbled, and one of the Marines reached our and caught her.

Master Umbidge snarled, "This is not a laughing matter, Ambassador, and you will control yourself."

Standing up, Lana turned and glared at General Osaka, "So that is how you're going to play it? Just blame someone else and sweep the rest of the evidence under the rug?"

"Explain yourself," Ambassador Lunkakie stated as her eyes flashed.

Lana turned her head and tossed Renkia a small info disk, "If you could put this on the projector, please," then she turned back toward the table and stood to full height. "Anything I have to say will be brushed aside, so I will just let the evidence speak for itself."

Pictures started slowly scrolling across the project showing the bombed-out educational facilities. Then a video started, showing General Osaka's sitting at the desk in his office; mummers broke out but soon stopped when a knock sounded at the General's door. "Come in," he stated. The door opened, and there stood Ambassador Lana dressed in her full Amassadoral Takie. "Ah, yes, you asked to speak with me, Ambassador," the General spoke.

"Yes," Lana replied, coming into the office and closing the door, "I have some concerns about the Ussit information youwho sent us."

"And?" the General huffed.

Sitting down, Lana pulled a sheet of paper from the folder she was carrying and set it down on the General's desk, "The list of hiding places that you plan to raid and bomb in particular, how accurate do you think this information is?"

The General bristled, "We have evidence that members of the Ussit have been seen going in and out of all of these places."

Lana's lips thinned, "General, do you know that every place you have on this list is an educational boarding facility?"

The General laughed. "Ha, and if they are?"

Lana stood, eyes blazing, "General Oska, if you were to bomb educational facilities knowingly, then the Human race will have no choice but to remove itself from this alliance and declare war."

The General scoffed, "You can threaten all you like Crima!", gasps broke out across the chamber, "But it matters not. I can do what I like, and I will not like some petty upstart from some prepubescent race tell me how to run this campaign."

Voice like ice, Lana's next words silenced the hall, "Mark my words. General Osaka, if you do this, it will be the last thing you will ever do!" and with that, the Ambassador swept out of the room.

Pictures started rolling across the projector, ten sprawling Educational facilities in all their glory. The Ambassador's voice rolled from the speaker, "Yes. I am sure we have intel that an airstrike is coming your way; you need to evacuate now." Snatches of different conversations filled the room at the center of it, Lana's voice is progressively getting more desperate.

"Please, is it not better safe than sorry."

Static soon cut the line.

"Bomber Alpha tango 23, this is Human Ambassador Lana Moore, badge number victor delta 4562, be advised that your target is an Educational Boarding facilities and it is occupied. Please abort the mission. I repeat target is an Educational Boarding Facilities, and it is occupied."

This repeated ten times with different Bomber numbers.

The pictures changed to eight bombed-out Educational Facilities when Ambassador Lana spoke from her spot in the middle of the chamber, "I was able to convince two of the schools to evacuate and for two of the bombers to abort the mission. The Ussit were not to blame for the bombings- this illustrious council was."

Councilmen Gretane shouted, "So what because we made a mistake you're just running with your tail between your legs like the little Havta your race is?"

"NO!" Lana stated firmly, "I am doing what I said I would do. I have resigned my seat as Ambassador to this galactic body. The human race is withdrawing from the Glatice alliance. The prime minister will have declared war on the five major races by the evening's moon cycle; for too long this council and the leadership of its five primary races have undervalued and pushed aside every other race out there. You may be older, and you may have more experience, but it does not mean that you are always right." She took a deep breath.

"After I left General Osaka's office, I tried to contact every other Ambassador on this council, and only five of you even bothered to hear me out. Five! And out of those five, only one of you asked me what we could do. This is me doing something. I could not prevent this needless tragedy, and I will no longer be part of the blatant specism that runs rampant through these halls. This council has long said that my race is young, bloodthirsty, and violent. Well, I hope you're ready to find out just how right you are," Lana locked eyes with every member of the council as she spoke. "You will remember this day, and you will regret the actions that led us to this point," As she locked eyes with General Oska, she smiled and stated, "Except you."

Osaka stood and blustered, "What do you mean?"

Here, she grinned even wider, bouncing up and down on her toes a little; she stretched out one hand with her pointer finger and thumb extended, the rest of her fingers curled into her palm. She then closed one eye, dropped her thumb down onto her fist.

"Bang."

Osaka fell back into his chair, a deep red hole in the center of his jamena. "Last thing you'll ever do," Lana stated quietly, then she and her escort turned again and headed out of the chamber. The slam of the doors echoed in the silent room; the only movement was the picture still on repeat on the projector.
