Author's Note: Hi everyone! This is a very random texting series that popped into my weird brain after rewatching The Winter Soldier. The idea would not leave me alone and I can promise you that I have like ten more of these in my iPhone notes. Some will be super quick reads, like this one, and some will be longer and with actual dialogue. Either way, it's pretty freaking cute. I think. Enjoy!
New message from Steve R: I absolutely hate Donald Duck.
Natasha chuckled, actually chuckled out loud, at Steve's text message. She was about to shower after coming back from a long run when her co-avenger, co-worker, or whatever the fuck you wanna call it, decided to reach out. It was currently eleven o' clock at night in New York City and the cool air was coming through her apartment windows. Sure, his message came at an odd and random time, but Romanoff wasn't easily phased by odd or random. While chewing on a chocolate chip cookie, she replied.
N: What did Donald Duck ever do to you?
S: His voice is annoying. Especially coming from my neighbors apartment.
N: Aw. They must have a kid.
S: I can't sleep.
The redhead rolled her eyes, popped the last piece of her late night snack into her mouth, then replied.
N: Boohoo. You probably sleep like a log. I, however, have chronic insomnia.
S: Really? Wow. How so?
Shit. She didn't mean to make this about her, nor did she have any desire to start a conversation about why she failed to sleep every night. Leave it to Steve to question her about nothing.
N: Just get some rest, old man. We have drills to run tomorrow.
S: OK. Goodnight.
She wished his response didn't bother her so much, the way he quickly dismissed her, but she shrugged it off and put her phone to charge. After staring at it for two seconds, she grabbed her towel that was hanging over her bathroom door then walked inside. She immediately found that her sink was clogged; water with specs of dirt was resting at the surface. She externally groaned.
"Aw, phooey,"
A/N: Thoughts?
