Chapter 1: Hikigaya Hachiman's special morning routine

*Beep* Beep*

Ah, the damn alarm, I reluctantly opened my eyes and quickly reached for my phone to turn off the damn alarm in fear of waking the woman beside me. I looked closer at my phone, where it shows that its 7:31 am in the morning, 25th of March, Saturday.

Saturdays are supposed to be spent sleeping, I sighed mentally. My eyes then locked on to the photo besides my, the marriage photo between her and I and smiled. Still can't believe that it happened. I then checked on my phone for any messages. Ah, a certain Tobe did sent a message to him which I gladly ignored. Tobe and I grew close after the Third year in High School for no reason, not that I cared.

I then turned my attention to the sleeping beauty beside me, I carefully gave a small peck on her cheek.

" Have a good rest." Poor girl had returned home late last night from work.

She seems to hear it and gave some uninterpretable noises and continues to sleep.

Cute she is, I swear I would never get tired of this scene.

' I need to shower to revive myself' then I get up reluctantly and gently walked to the bathroom. A certain sleeping beauty has problems of light sleeps and thus I need to be extra careful when walking around if she is sleeping.

'Such a heavenly feel' I told myself while I am showering, it is a habit of mine to listen to music when I shower, but since there is a certain light sleeper so I'd skip this morning.

I feel much alive after I finish showering and decided to head downstairs to check on the cat, Kumo, a white cat that we adopted from the Pets Centre. Well, everyone knew how much a cat lover she is, well I do like cats as well so yeah hence there is Kumo.

Kumo immediately runs toward me after she saw me, after petting and scratching her she quickly runs toward the cat bowl, hmm it seems that she is hungry.

" On it , little empress"

Kumo gives me a big meow, I think she is saying " be quick and serve me, you slave".

Sigh, cats. Annoying and ignorant living beings that almost every human loves them. I quickly reach for the cat food can and open it and place into Kumo's bowl. These cans are expensive as hell because a certain someone said that she needs to have the best food around. Does expensive products equal to good qualitied products? No I supposed.

I then packed the garbage and went out to dispose it at the designated disposition area. Ah the streets are so empty as today is Saturday and only a good house husband like me would be throwing garbage away, the best househusband In the world. Well, I guess a good walk in the morning is not bad after all. Cool and refreshing air makes me more alive.

It was already 8:30 am when I get home. Its about time for her to get up and I need to start making breakfast.

There are only salmons, white radishes, onions and eggs in the fridge. Hmm, aha! Japanese traditional breakfast it is. She loves traditional breakfasts.

Hmm, lets start with the miso soup first. I boiled some water in the pot, mix it with some hondashi powders. Well, who have the time to make their own dashi anyway, such a waste of time. I quickly chopped some white radishes and shiitake mushrooms and throw them into the boiling dashi, not forgetting to put in same dried wakames as well. Let it sit there and do it's own thing.

*Beep*Beep*

The alarm rang again, this time from her phone, its 9 am in the morning. A big yawn followed and then the sound of the doors of the bathroom opening and the sounds of water coming out from the showerhead.

As I need to wait for the white radishes to cook, I picked up my phone and checked on the messages, which I again ignored Tobe's messages. I then check on to the morning news. Hmmm, it seems that there is a great discount in the grocery store nearby, should jot down and go do some shopping later with her.

After 15 minutes, I returned to the boiling dashi and poked the white radishes to see if they've been softened up or not. Yep, it went right through the poor thing and then I transferred the pot to another stove and start to work on the rice. I quickly rinsed the rice and put in into the rice cooker and made sure that the switch is turned on.

I then moved my attention to the rolled omelette ,I took three eggs and-

" Good morning, Hachi, what are you cooking, smells so nice"

"Ah, good morning, Yuki, well, breakfast and it's almost ready….. and happy 4th wedding anniversary"

" Aha, so you do remember" Yuki said with a small smile on her face.

" Yep, that's why I am up early and making breakfast. And it would be ready in 40 minutes, I, think."

" Thanks Hachi." Yuki then turned around and headed to the study " I'll get a book then."

The big study room is a result of the habit and the love to read by both of us. It could already be a library already, this library have a good collection of classical Western literature, Japanese literature, light novels, and some fictions and manga. Just how many thousands of yens went to the books. But I'll not complain.

I love it, actually, those times where both of us returned home drained, just sit in the cushion in the study room in each other's presence while we read through the night with the occasional chatting, don't mention the coffee that Yuki brewed. Can't decide whether MAX coffee or hers are the superior. Maybe hers.

I continued to my omelette, I cracked three eggs into a bowl, added 30ml of water , some soy sauce, sugar and a pinch of dashi powder. I carefully flipped the eggs and after some rounds of flipping, the omelette is ready. As I transferred it to the plate and place it on the table. Yuki came out of the study with a book on her hand.

"Ara, not bad with the omelette eh? Hachi."

"Of course, remember when you said you would make me into a 3 star Michelin during my " cooking course" when we both move in together in college?"

"Of course you would, because I'm teaching and you're not Yuigahama"

Her certain personalities never changes, but I don't mind. It was what make her cute.

I chuckled. That woman's cooking skills never improved, even Yuki could not do anything to help her improve, lets hope she gets married to a chef. Yeah, she still single.

" So what book you reading?" I asked while I prepares the salmon, sprinkle some salt and pepper, hot the pan and wait.

"Nineteen eighty four by George Orwell" She said while standing besides me. "Kocha or Coffee? "

" Huh? Since when you are into politics, and i don't recall having that book in our study." i asked while gently place the salmons into the pan, skin faced down. " Kocha, please"

" Kocha it is then" She put the book on the table and then then get back and stand besides me and start the brewing. Ah, the aroma of the tea was good. Seriously good. "I bought the book last week during lunch break, i saw a review of the book and have some interest. So i bought it" she said as she walk towards then table and sat down then started reading.

I quickly transfer the salmons to two plates, brought it to the table and started to heat up the dashi broth i boiled earlier. " Please wait for 15 minutes more ya, Yuki ... gotta get that... miso" i said as i open the fridge and bend down to get the container with the miso paste in the bottom level of the fridge.

"Alright" then Yuki continued the read.

After the dashi broth had boiled , i dissolve several teaspoons of miso into the broth. Some people would add some salt but not me as Yuki don't like it too salty.

I then get some rice and brought two bowls of rice to the table and then filled two bowls of miso soup and serve it to the table then sit down.

" Breakfast's ready Yuki" i said as i take a small sip on the kocha that Yuki brewed.

I jus love the Kocha hand brewed by Yukino, there's just no substitute to it. It's the same Kocha that I've been drinking since I join the Service Club and just nothing beats it, even for the best cafes out there. Hell, this might also be one of the reasons that I fall for Yukino in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I still love my coffee, but her hand brewed kocha is on another level. But but, the coffee she brewed is also one of the best that I ever drank. Well, I guess she brews the best coffee and tea in the world. It's close topic.

"Hmm , Hachi you are thinking out loud again, you know"

"Huh? Did i?" I never realised that i was murmuring what i was thinking. As i look to her, there was a small red blush on her cheeks. That's an expression that i could stare at for a whole lifetime.

" A-Anyway, lets eat" said Yuki

"Yeah, itadakimasu!" I started eating as I said the ritual words. I then took a knife and slice the omelettes into several slices and took one into my mouth.

"Actually really good Hachi" Yuki said as she eats one of the sliced omelettes.

"Of course, someone would be ashamed if I failed, isn't it" Yuki chuckles and continued to eat.

We spoke of our works recently, about books and about almost everything, don't mind the occasional teases she throws at me. It's comfortable talking to her and I think this is what I would call genuine, where I could spill out everything and not to fake myself.

After finished eating, we just sat and drink our tea. Silence, but comfortable and not awkward. This is a moment that i cherish most.

"Say, Hachi, it's been four years since we married. Time flies isn't it?" Yuki broke the silence between us.

"Yea, things changed a lot since we started dating back in high school, on that skybridge."

" I still remember a certain someone said that "youth is both a lie and a form of evil" to Hiratsuka Sensei"

"And then the embarrassing speech about finding my genuine in the clubroom, but luckily I did found my genuine" I said as I hold Yuki's hand in my palm , lightly squeezing hers. Her cheeks slightly blushes. Yes, I did it!

"And then the reckless prom event that you proposes. What are you thinking back then by the way?"

"Wanted to help you, I guess"

Our reminiscent goes on and on. Indeed, knowing Yukinishita Yukino was one of my best moments in my life and dating together is the best moment ever. She changed me a lot, except for my dead fish eyes. From that brat that says youth are lies and sorts and "to work is to lose" and the loner to a man whose personalities slightly changed, I guess, a man who's willing to work and a man that now chooses to trust in his friends more than himself. It was all because of her and I did not regret one bit, to be honest.

" Well, why don't you go change while I make the dishes?" I said as I stand up and collect the empty plates and bowls.

" Yeah, I'll go change now" Yuki said, " Thanks for delicious breakfast Hachi, I am really happy!"

I could feel a slight burn in my cheek, "Y-Y-Yeah"

She gave me a smile and went upstairs.

I quickly washed the dishes and went upstairs to change as well. I wore a long sleeve white blouse, together with a black trouser and a black blazer. I do hope I look good.

I went downstairs to wait for Yuki.

After some time, Yuki came walking down with her hair being tied into two braids, wearing a whole white dress with a sky blue jacket.

It was the same set of dress that she wears during our first date after my confession on the sky bridge.

"Wow, you're breath taking, Yuki"

"You look good too, Hachi"

" Still remember the date at the seaside park?"

"How could I ever forget"

" Lets go there shall we? Ah, I did notice that there is a big discount in the Aeon Supermarket near our house, want to do some grocery shopping later?" I said as I put on my shoes.

"We indeed need to do some grocery shopping" She said as she grabs my hand, " Lets go, Hachi"

"Yeah"

How can I not love some who was so cute, smart, gentle, elegant and beautiful?

How can I not love her with all of my heart?

I just swear I would never let her go

Yukinoshita Yukino, you are just the best thing to ever happen to me.

"Hachi, you are doing it again" She blushed.

"Oops"

I don't really mind it though.

A/N: its actually my very first fanfiction and due to the fact that English is not my primary language so the grammars and stuff might sound a little weird. I really liked to imagine the married life between them two and wish that i could share it with other people.

Any reviews are welcomed.

PS: I REALLY LOVE YUKINO
