The accident" changed Reki's whole life.

The young boy came from a well-known, wealthy family. He had everything he ever wanted, good grades, friends, a pretty girlfriend. Yet the thing he most loved was the one he couldn't quite get, skating. His father has never approved of it. He thought skating was "too wild and dangerous." Reki never listened to his father. He skated everyday, every night; when he was happy, angry, sad.

"The accident " took that away from him. He always blamed himself for what happened, even though it certainly wasn't his fault. Every time people tried to talk to him about it, he would yell. It was almost like you could hear the pain in his voice.

"All because of me. I should've been the one dead."

The Kyan household was quieter than usual after the funeral of Mr. Kyan. Reki rushed upstairs into his room as fast as he could. He threw himself onto the bed and burst into tears. The car crash that killed Reki's dad had occured just over a week ago.

Reki and his father were not close at all. Mr. Kyan was a busy businessman with very little free time. Reki would see his dad every other week because of work, he never liked that but there wasn't much he could do about it. Mr. Kyan would rarely spend his off-days with Reki, and when he did, he would always talk about how he hated the fact that Reki skated.

Reki hated to admit the fact that his fathers death didn't upset him that much. He knew that deep inside but he never actually convinced himself of it. "It's your own father, how could you not be sad about it?" he thought to himself every single day.

What made him miserable was going to sleep every night knowing that his sister were going to grow up without a father. The girls were way closer to their dad than Reki was. Which wasn't too shocking considering that his sisters weren't always rebelling as his father would say.

Reki knew his mother was even more upset than he was. Even though his father wouldn't really show it, Reki knew his parents loved eachother very much. He could only imagine how it would be like if someone took your soulmate away from you. It didn't make him feel any better knowing that certain someone was only himself.

He cried himself to sleep. Again. Reki got up from the bed feeling dizzy. He glanced at his watch, 07:13. He walked over to the bathroom and went through the cabinets. I can't. He grabbed the pill bottles that were neatly set. Please. He took them out and swallowed as many as he could at once. More, more, more. He didn't know how many it would take to kill himself, he just kept going. Twenty six, twenty seven, twenty eight… Until he collapsed onto the floor. His vision became blurry and he started to lose his consciousness. He took a deep breath and let it back out, hoping it would be his last one. Minutes went by as Reki lied on the bathroom floor. He was still alive, he could breathe, his heart was beating. Yet, it was going to stop in maybe twenty-ish minutes when the drugs enter his bloodstream. "Reki, dinners ready!" He heard his sisters voice coming closer to the bathroom door. Fuck. He thought as he remembered he didn't lock the bathroom door. Reki tried getting up from the cold floor but his aching stomach didn't let him. He tried crawling to the door. "Rekiii! Did you not hear me?" His sister asked, making Reki realize she had already entered his room. "Don't come in. Please." He wanted say but nothing came out. Knock. Knock. Knock. "Reki are you there? I'm coming in-" There she was. Standing right in front of Reki as he was trying to end it all. She screamed and rushed downstairs while sobbing. It all happened so quickly, she didn't even remember what she told her mom. They were all crying as their mother called an ambulance and guards to escort the family to the hospital. The guards carried Reki's unconscious body hoping he was going to be fine.

Reki did wake up, and he hated that. He knew everyone was disappointed in him, they had every right to be.

No one was in the room when he first opened his eyes, he layed there for half an hour waiting for someone to notice he woke up. Even though there was a low chance, he expected his mother and sisters to come through the door and tell him how happy they are that he was still alive. They didn't show up for days.

Every time the door opened, Reki thought it was his mom. It was only nurses doing their jobs, smiling, some of them even tried making small chat with him. Reki knew they all felt bad. Sad teen, alone in a hospital room after suicide attempt. Such a cliché. Seeing the doctors and nurses feel bad for him was the least he wanted. All he needed was to get out of there. He didn't know know what he was going to do, but he knew he didn't want to stay with family. He wanted to go as far as he could, maybe another city, or country?

His thoughts were cut off after the door opened once again, he saw his mother, after two whole days.

Reki's mother was probably trying to cover up the fact that her son almost killed himself, right after her husbands funeral. It was understandable that she was upset but leaving her son in a hospital -especially considering why he went there in the first place- was a bit too far, even for Reki who always trying to go easy on his mother.

"Where were you?" Reki asked even though he wasn't that interested.

"I was trying to cover up the mess you've made. Like I always do, don't bother to thank me."

Wasn't going to.

Reki's relationship with his mother wasn't any better than the relationship they had with his his dad. They fought, a lot. It was worse because Reki's mom had always worked from home so he got to see her more often.

The arguments with his mother always hurted more. Mainly because it never used to happen before.

Reki and his mother were very close when he was younger. That changed as he grew up.

He had to silently watch as his mother started hating him, the hatred she had for him never stopped, it only kept growing. Reki never knew the reason why she hated her own son. But he never acted like it happened out of no where, a lot of people have started hating him over the last few years. They probably had a reason but Reki never cared enough to figure that out.

"I would've put you in a mental hospital if I didn't know about what people would say. I have other plans for you, would you like me to explain?"

"What are you going to do lock me up in my room, hoping I try again and die for real this time? You're right I'm sure it would be less trouble for you."

"Perhaps. But no, I won't let you do that."

"Are you going to be a loving and supporting mom who's going to take care of me?" Reki knew that wasn't going to happen but he couldn't stop himself from saying that.

Will you let me speak?"

"Fine, go ahead."

"You will be living in our house in Tokyo until you feel better,"

"Oh so you're actually going to lock me up-"

"No Reki, I'm not stupid. I'm not going to leave you there by yourself. One of my friends' son is going to look after you."

What. That makes zero sense?

"How will that help me?" It wouldn't? Reki knew he wouldn't be happy with that.

"I don't want to leave you alone, but I certainly don't want you to stay with those friends of yours."

"There's nothing wrong with my friends."

"I'm not going to argue with you about this. You have disappointed everyone enough so why don't you do what I ask for once."

Reki did listen to his mother. He was now in a shiny black car with bodyguards, escorting him to the house in Tokyo.

The car ride took about two hours. Reki watched as the guards took his stuff upstairs.

Whole time, the only thing he was thinking about was the guy who was going to look after him. He got excited at the thought of meeting someone new. It really was weird because just a week ago, he thought he would never be able to feel anything anymore. He hated to admit but maybe his mother was right after all.

After finishing up with the suitcases one of the guards spoke to Reki:

Reki, I'm sorry you had to go through that."

Reki was closer with the guards than he was with his actual family, they all liked Reki mainly because they were the only ones who knew about how the family was slowly starting to fall apart. Seeing that, they wanted to support Reki as much as they could.

"Oh. Yeah, I'm fine now though. Thanks anyways."

"If you ever need anything give me a call, okay?"

"Yes, of course." Reki said as he put on a fake smile.

Reki sat on one of the big couches in the living room as he waited for his babysitter to arrive. He looked around the house to clear his head. His family hadn't visited this place in years. He looked at the old family pictures of them, where they were all happy. He really wished he could go back to those times, but it was too late. He went up the stairs where him and his sisters played tag together while their dad was telling them to stop running. The bedrooms were pretty much the same, he entered the big one where his parents once stayed in. He threw himself onto the bed once again, getting déjà vu remembering the pills.

He wanted to cry but nothing came out. He sat there in silence while staring at the ceiling.

"Is anyone up there?" Reki heard someone shout from downstairs. He got back up from the bed, but this time he wasn't going to the bathroom to end his life. The exact opposite, he was running towards the person who was going to make him feel like he had a chance in life again.
