Valin's POV…Finally I'm getting to everything! This week, as I have a bit more time on my hands…sort of…I'm planning on both starting the Remake of Red Leviathan Emperor this week, probably along with a new Dragon Ball fic, which will be hilarious. You might get a preview of both at the end, but who knows? Oh, before I forget, Ruby is a Wolf Faunus, as is Summer…just think it'd be interesting, no? This might just be a little bit short, just so you know. Now, let's get going, eh?

I sigh, doing my best to attempt to peel myself from my Mom's grasp "Ma, seriously! You've known that we're going to Beacon for almost a year now! It's not like we're going to vanish in thin air, you know, you can come visit!"

Pyrrha manages to pull me from Mom and she hugs her. Pyrrha smiles "Mom, I promise you, we will see you again. And Valin is right, you can come visit us at any time."

Mom smiles, tears dripping down her cheeks "I know, I know, but my babies…you're all grown up!"

I pick up my bag, gesturing for Pyrrha to do the same as I hear the Bullhead start to land "Mom, we'll be fine. You know that we'll always have each other's back. Everything's going to be okay."

Mom sighs, holding us for one more time "Okay. I love you both, I hope you know."

I smirk "Of course. Come on, Pyrrha. We've got an entire day to fly. Might as well get started."

Pyrrha takes one look at the house as we leave and then hugs me "We are going to be okay, aren't we?"

I grunt "Of course, idiot. We're going to be fine. We've got each other."

Together, we could do this. Sure, Pyrrha and I hadn't really left Mistral, but we were ready. We had to be. This was a new chapter in our lives.

The Next Day…

I drop into a fighting stance, a growl reverberating through my throat as I stare at the brunette in front of me "I promise you, I'll make you regret ever even looking at my sister like that. Prepare yourself, asshole."

The other male, Cardin Winchester, grins, giving his mace a few practice swings "I'm sorry, I just have a thing with women. What can you do? It's not my fault that your sister is extremely sexy…looks like a slut, if you ask me. Perhaps I need to give a donation, and show the girl a good time, what do you think?"

As soon as we were given the signal to start, I didn't even bother to draw my weapon, choosing to deal with the problem head on. With a flicker of blue and gold aura, I activate my Semblance, Limit Break, and I flashstep forward, disappearing from view. When I reappear, I smash my fist into Cardin's chest, sending him skidding back.

I press my advantage, not even allowing him time to get back to his feet. With a roar, I slam Cardin into a wall. Gold eyes meet brown and I snarl "You stand no chance against me, I promise you that. Now, I'm going to say this once, and you're going to listen, understand?"

The brunette growls, struggling, and I shout, slamming him down again "Understand?"

Cardin groans "Fine, I'm listening!"

I grunt, unable to keep the feral grin from my face "Good. I'm giving you this one chance. Leave me and mine alone, and I'll do the same for you and yours. I don't want to have to see your ugly mug any more than absolutely necessary, understand? If I hear about you hurting anyone that I care about, if I hear about you so much as thinking a bad thought about someone I care about, I will break you. Remember, this is me being merciful. Don't make me regret my choice."

I let him go, walking off as the teacher, Mrs. Goodwitch, calls the match in my favor. Pyrrha sighs "Vali, you didn't have to."

I grunt "The hell I didn't. I'm the older brother. It's my job to protect you, and I will do it."

Before I can say anything else, my stomach growls, and the red-haired girl grins, her green eyes twinkling "Alright, I get it. Let's go get you some food."

Almost as if in agreement, my stomach growls once more. I grunt, grinning sheepishly "Heh…oops? Yeah, that might be a good idea. Let's go."

One Hour Later…

I grunt, spinning around as the dust explodes, hiding the shorter Faunus girl, covering her "Watch out!"

The explosion fades and I look down, a smile on my face "Are you okay?"

The Wolf girl blinks, blushing softly as her tail wags "Y-yes, thank you. Wait, what about the other girl? Is she okay?"

From my other side, the silver-haired girl pokes out, her face red "What happened?"

I grunt as the two of them pull away "I noticed the dust cloud, so I figured I should check it out, and here we are. What the hell happened?"

Almost instantly, the white-haired girl growls "This dolt almost broke my dust collection!"

With a yelp, the wolf girl once again hides behind me, burying her face into my back, my jacket draped over her head "It wasn't my fault! How was I supposed to know that you'd be there! Besides, I said I'm sorry!"

I raise my hand before the yelling could start again "Hey, enough. You need to calm down, Dust isn't enough to freak out about."

That only managed to piss the girl off more, so I drew my weapon, Twilight Rebellion, prying the hilt open and shaking it, causing several different colors of crystal to fall out. I extend my hand "There, Gravity Dust, Light Dust, Ice Dust, Fire Dust, and Cyclone Dust. You can have them, I'll just get more."

I dropped the Dust in her hands. I guess she wasn't prepared for niceties or something, because she just stared at the dust and then up at me. I grunt, pushing the wolf girl forward "Right, so…later."

After we were far enough away, I sigh "Well, that happened. You sure you're okay?"

The girl nods, her ears flickering "Yes, thank you. I'm Ruby Rose, what's your name?"

I grunt "Valin Nikos. Yes, I am related to Pyrrha, she's my twin sister, before you ask. Say, how the hell did you manage to get dust to explode?"

Blushing softly, refusing to meet my eyes, she grins sheepishly "Well, you see, that's the thing. As you can see, I'm a Wolf Faunus, and because of that, I've got a much better sense of smell than most people…that doesn't really help when dealing with actual dust. I guess I got a bit in my nose, and…yeah. I think you get the idea."

I snort "Yeah, I got it. You're a goof, you know?"

Ruby pouts "Meanie! It was an accident!"

I smirk, patting her head "I'm kidding, I'm kidding."

All of a sudden, Ruby's eyes look up and spot Twilight Rebellion, her eyes turning to stars "Is that your weapon? Can I see it?"

I grunt, unsheathing the sword, flipping it around "Sure, I don't mind."

She freaks out, swinging a couple of times, practicing. I smirk, and start to say something until it hits me. Looking around, I sigh "Ruby, look around. I'm pretty sure that we're lost."

Snapped out of it, the young Wolf Faunus yelps. She starts to panic and I raise my hand "Hold your horses, Fluffy. I know how to get back…or at least, I'm fairly certain that I do."

The ravenette grunts "You are fairly certain that you know how to get back? Why am I still concerned?"

I roll my eyes "Ha. Ha. Very funny. Come on, dork, we'd better head back before we end up being late."

As we walk along, Ruby looks up, all smiles "Thank you, Valin."

I raise an eyebrow "Eh? What for?"

The wolf Faunus grunts "For being my friend, silly! I'm…not great, when it comes to new people, and yet, I've already got a friend thanks to you…and also, thank you from saving me from that girl."

I snort "I guess that girl was a little harsh. Don't worry about the rest of it, though. What are friends for? Besides, I'm not great at social interactions either, in fact, you're my first friend, so we've got that in common. We'll just have to use each other to help with that."

Ruby nods, and from there, we walked in silence. Before too long though, we reached the Amphitheater, and that's when this blonde girl came up, a smile on her face "Ruby, you're okay! You had me worried! Where were you? Who is this?"

The shorter girl, still practically attached to my side, looks up and I nod, so she continues "Um, well Yang, you see, that's a bit complicated. Don't worry, thanks to this big guy, I'm okay, but I had an accident. Someone accidentally got me to sneeze, and there was an explosion. He protected me and the other girl, who then started yelling at me, so we escaped, and started talking, and then got lost, only to find our way back here. Oh, this is Valin Nikos, by the way, and I am his first friend, how cool is that?"

The blonde blinks, staring at me "Wait a minute…Nikos? Valin Nikos…Holy shit! You're the Crimson Knight of Mistral!"

I grunt "Yeah…"

I was expecting several different questions. Hell, I was expecting even being asked for an autograph, which is definitely how it would be if we were back home. However, what happened…I didn't expect one bit.

Yang looks between us, a grin on her face "Hey, Valin, you want to know something? Ruby used to have the biggest crush on you, when she was a pup. Still does, if we're being honest…"

Instantly, Ruby's face turns a bright crimson as her ears pull back and she whines "Yang! Seriously! You said you wouldn't tell anyone about that!"

The blonde grins "Eh, that was before I knew that we were going to meet the Crimson Knight himself."

I shake my head as Ruby attempts to beat on Yang, yelping something about being a traitor "Girls, calm down, seriously."

Before too long, I pull Ruby back by the collar of her cloak, sitting her down next to me "Enough. Seriously."

Yang grins, looking away "I got it, Red, I got it. I've had my fun."

I nodded, and then Ruby grumbles, or rather, her stomach does. Her blush turns that much brighter as I smirk "Little hungry, are you?"

The ravenette wolf grunts "Shut up."

I roll my eyes, starting to reach into my bag, but Yang was faster, extending a bag of cookies "Here, sis. I've got you covered."

Almost instantly, Ruby pounces onto the bag "Cookies! You're the best, Yang!"

Before anything else could be said, though, out came the Headmaster. Not going to lie, I kind of zoned out. Pyrrha would always yell at me for doing it, especially when we were kids, but I knew that she was dependable, knew that she'd tell me anything important that I had missed, like always, so I wasn't worried.

Four Hours Later…

I grunt, walking out, my damp hair draping around my shoulders as I stretch "Oi, Pyrrha! You think you can do my hair?"

The familiar red-head smiles "Of course. Come sit down and I'll get to work."

Once I was settled, Pyrrha was already hard at work, grunting "So, how was your day? Sorry, by the way, I guess I kind of abandoned you when we got here. At least it gave you a chance to make a friend. You did try, didn't you? I swear, Valin, if you just stood in a corner all day, I will beat you."

I grunt "Chill, Pyr, chill. I did make a friend, her name's Ruby, so no need to freak out on me anymore."

She grins "I am not that bad, Vali. At least it isn't Mom or Uncle Zack asking the questions, so there is that!"

I snort, but before I could say anything, Pyrrha pats my shoulder "There, all done."

I can't help it, hugging my sister "Thanks Pyr. You're the best."

She smirks "Tell me something I don't know."

I shake my head, standing up "Yeah, yeah, don't let the confidence go to your head. I'll be back later, sis."

Quickly, quietly, I walk towards my new friend, sneaking up on her. Of course, I had forgotten the Faunus' strong sense of smell, and before I had even come close to Ruby's bunk, she was there, jumping on me "Valin!"

I groaned, doing my best to ignore the pain "Hey, Rubes…how's it going?"

She grins, tail wagging "Great! I was just going to come visit you!"

Yang comes over, looking me up and down with a grin on her face "Damn, Valin. Talk about jacked!"

I looked down, realizing my situation before grinning "Eh, what can I say, I work out."

Ruby disappears, hiding underneath her covers, her face bright red "I'm sorry, Valin, I didn't know!"

I had a realization, just then. Teasing the hyperactive wolf girl was definitely going to be one of my favorite activities. Looking at Yang, I guess she agreed. Both of us grinned at each other and Yang piped up "Damn, Red, your abs are rock-hard! I feel like you could probably use them as a fucking plate!"

A black wolf tail wagged around, poking from the blanket, as Yang pokes me "Yup, definitely. Kinda hot, Red, not going to lie."

At that, Ruby's pink face pokes out, grumbling "Yang! Seriously, stop flirting with my best friend, please!"

The blonde shrugs "Eh, you know I'm right though, Rubes. But I guess that's enough teasing for now. Don't know about you two, but I'm going to bed."

I grunt, covering a yawn "Yeah, ditto. Going to want rest for tomorrow, for sure."

Ruby smiles at me, revealing a tiny canine at the bottom of her mouth, barely poking out of her lip, and I can't help but blush softly. Unluckily, Yang noticed, gesturing "Oi, Red, give the flirting a rest for tonight!"

I grumble, shaking my head as Ruby giggles "What the hell, man, it wasn't my fault!"

The black and red-haired girl waves "Good night, Valin! Sleep well!"

I grunt, unable to keep the smile off of my face as I raise a hand "Night Ruby."

Mom always used to say that Sunrise and Sunset weren't just random elements to give you the time of day, but were actually there so you could know that you were moving on with the next chapter of your life. She'd never tell us where she got that from, but something tells me it was from Dad, if her stories about him are to be believed. Pyrrha and I never got to actually meet him, as he died on a mission soon after we were born, but we had stories and pictures, and they were enough.

Anyway, I could honestly say that I was sure I was heading towards my own Sunrise, and I was excited. Making friends, being with my sister, I was ready. Whatever the world had to throw at me, I'd win. No matter what, I would make sure of it.

(Author grunts) "Yeah, it was decided that the actual Previews, for today anyway, aren't going to happen. Oh well, guess you'll have to find out the old-fashioned way. Anyway, I haven't got too much to say, except that the next chapter is definitely going to be interesting, what with the Initiation and all of that. No spoilers this time, sure, but I don't think you need them. Alright, I've gotta go, so I'll see you guys in the next one! Stay safe out there! Peace!"
