Note: Alright, new story. Before we move on, I might as well say some stuff about the story. For starters, this story is not to be confused with a story called "Knight of Corneria". As such, I apologize to the author of that story, if I copied the title. Second of all, despite being a Star Fox story, it will be slightly OC-centric. If you aren't a fan of stories like that, then this story might not be for you. Lastly, I might be a little fast when it comes to updating this story, but I hope that all of you like it. Alright, enough said, let's get on with it!
Chapter 1: Plan B
General Pepper was just sitting in his office, waiting for a response from Star Fox. He had sent the team out to intervene in the actions of the Mauricio crime family. The organization had been causing trouble in the southern part of Corneria City for quite some time, to the point where the police couldn't take them on, and the General was hoping that Star Fox would take them down. However, his hopes would be sunk when one of his soldiers came running into his office. The soldier in question was a Yorkshire Terrier who was wearing a bandana around his neck.
"Art?" Pepper asked. "What's wrong?"
"Sir," Art, the Terrier, spoke, "the Mauricio Family is working with the Zimmerman Brothers!"
"Not them!" The General cried. "The Zimmerman Brothers are dangerous on their own, so I can only imagine what they would be like with the Mauricio Family backing them up!"
"That's not all," Art continued, "they've got them: Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Peppy Hare, Slippy Toad, Fara Phoenix, Fay Spaniel, and Miyu Lynx! As for Krystal Bodimead, she took the effect of a knock-out dart when she pushed McCloud out of the way! She's in the infirmary recovering as we speak!"
"This is terrible!" The hound dog cried. "Not only have most of Star Fox been taken by a dangerous criminal organization, but said criminals will most likely execute them for no reason, except for their horrible purposes!"
"What are we going to do?!" The Terrier asked.
"Shall we send Maria?" Bill asked as he walked up to the General's desk.
"No," Pepper said, "not even the Lucky Rabbit could defeat the entire organization on her own. Even if I had a few soldiers accompany her, the Mauricios and the Zimmermans have various henchmen that disguise themselves to blend into society."
"Maria is a powerhouse, though!" The gray hound argued. "She even took out an army blocking her target with her barehands once her blaster ran out of juice!"
"Fairweather is out of the question." The hound dog said. "It seems that our only option is to hire Star Wolf."
The three sat in silence until something crossed Bill's mind.
"I just thought of something." He said.
"What is it?" Pepper asked.
"We can't send Star Wolf out, as not even they could defeat the Mauricio Family and the Zimmerman Brothers." Bill spoke. "But, hear me out on this, what if we assembled that group that Steve, Art and I always check up on at the Flight Academy."
"Wait!" Someone shouted as they ran into the room.
Turning their heads, General Pepper, Bill and Art saw Krystal enter the room. The cobalt vixen had recovered from the effects of the dart that she took for Fox.
"Don't tell me that all of you are thinking of sending them after the Mauricio Family and the Zimmerman Brothers!" She said.
"It's our Plan B, Krystal." Pepper said. "After all, one of the members of the group is a troublemaker himself, while the others are intent on getting their licenses as pilots."
"At least send me out." Krystal said. "It's my -"
"It's not your fault, Miss Bodimead." Art said. "After all, you took a dart for your friends after you fought off several thugs that Giorno Mauricio had sent your way."
"You may aid the new team, though." Bill said.
Looking down for a brief moment, Krystal ponded her decision. On one hand, she would work with a team of trainees in order to save her teammates. On the other, she would be forced to do nothing as her friends and comrades would be executed, with the criminals likely planning to turn their attention to the rest of Corneria. The cobalt vixen clenched her hands, not wanting to read the news and hear about the deaths of her friends. Fox's death would hit the hardest, as not only was he the leader of the Lylat System's heroes, but he was the love of Krystal's life. Looking up, the Cerinian looked at the three men near her.
"Take me to the Flight Academy." She said.
"Are you sure?" Bill asked.
"Yes." Krystal said. "I'm going to aid the trainees. Even if I wind up being executed, I want my last act to be that I played a part in the end of the Mauricio Family and the Zimmerman Brothers!"
"Very well," Art said, "let's head to the Flight Academy."
Meanwhile, Fox opened his eyes, only to find that he was now chained up on a wall. He tried to break free, but was unable to. Looking around, the tod saw that the door to the room was open. There were footsteps in the distance, with them moving towards the room itself.
"Fox McCloud," someone said as they approached the room, "welcome to your last weeks of life."
Note: Is this an okay beginning? It might seem unceremonious that Star Fox (sans Krystal) got kidnapped by a criminal organization that not even Star Wolf or a bounty hunter hired by the Cornerian Army could beat, forcing the Army to rely on a team of trainees. However, looks can be deceiving, and there might be more to the trainees than meets the eye. Until next time guys, this is Newcomer24, signing off. Peace!
