Long, long before any human or Pokémon walked the land, Arceus pondered how it would begin to sort its creations. After years of thinking, an idea dawned upon it. "I shall create fifteen holy powers to bestow upon my children. Each has their holder that will govern its power!" And so was the making of the different types we know of today. Each was bas-

"Why is there only fifteen?" A tiny voice spoke out of the darkness.

"Yeah! It even says eighteen in the title!" Another accompanied in a higher-pitched tone.

A sigh came from an older woman, "Children, please, I'm still reading. Don't you think the story will explain? Maybe if you're patient, your questions will come with answers." A small smile formed on the woman's face, though it was masked by the darkness that covered the room.

"Oh, you're right mama! We're sorry..." The first voice expressed her regret. The second had nodded his head quickly, eyes widening a little.

"That's quite alright my children, let me continue," The woman cleared her throat and picked up where she was last interrupted.

Each was based on a universal concept or natural form. For example, the Goddess Floryn ruled over the Grass type; Tethys over Water; and Ignatius over Fire. They stood together and helped form the world we know today. They assigned many Legendaries and familiar Pokémon with their types. They had strong power and were worshipped widely over the land.

Around 100 years after the original fifteen's birth, there came two more types: Dark and Steel. And finally, 500 more years later, Fairy was birthed. All eighteen types were created and all had come to prosper together under one palace high in the mountains shielded by a harsh environment and high altitude. From there, they watched the world evolve and bloom, stepping in when they needed to or wanted.

Their popularity has faded into almost nothing over the past centuries, but they still live on, continuing to watch over both humans and Pokémon.

The sound of a book closing had sounded throughout the darkness, the woman who had read the entertaining story, moving to place it on a nearby table.

"Is it true?" The young girl who had first interrupted now sat waiting for a reply from the woman. However, she only looked over at the child, the smile she wore, gone. But this wasn't apparent to the girl, as again the darkness had blinded all of them.

"Hmm..." The woman looked up thoughtfully and hummed. "I suppose? Maybe so, maybe not." The eager and excited expression on the little girl, turned to one of disappointment as the woman stood up from the chair she sat in. "It's time for bed now. I was hoping the story would do just that, though." She said the last part under her breath.

"Bu- but please... I just want to know if it's true." The little girl's eyes darted throughout the darkness.

"Look who's already asleep," The woman pointed over to the boy that slept soundly next to the girl. "Your brother gets the idea. Now close your pretty little eyes." She moved the blanket further up to cover the girl up to her neck. All she could do was sigh in agitation.

"I know, I know." Her quiet voice was muffled by the wool blanket she held onto.

The woman smiled softly at her daughter, "Goodnight my sweet Ferelithe." A kiss was planted upon the child's forehead at those words. After doing the same to the boy, she stood straight and patted her tattered dress. "Get some rest my beautiful children."

Soon, Ferelithe had sensed her mother exit the small room she was in, her eyes flickering up to the ceiling. Her mind raced with so many questions about the story. Does Auxerre feel the same as me? Probably not, he fell asleep halfway through! She shook her head at the thought and closed her eyes, relaxing and trying to ignore the haunting questions. Sleep had soon crept up on Ferelithe, her breathing slowed, and her mind no longer lingered on so many questions. She only dreamed sweet childlike dreams that night.

A/N: This is my first attempt at making a story! This weird idea came to me only recently and so I've decided to expand on it. There is a lot to cover and I hope to update this story pretty often! Again, new to this so any help is greatly appreciated. 3
