Hey peeps! I'm back, but this time with a different set-up. I don't believe this has been done before, so here's the summary.
Alex Bowen is the twin sister of Richard (Ricky) Bowen. Alex has been with Ricky through everything, including school drama. She has had the drama of her own apart from her brother's. Alex has no friends, so she just minds her own business. Alex is amazing at singing, drawing, and dancing, but no one knows that. Alex isn't popular either, she's just...yeah.
That's all you need to know about Alex, anyways, let's get on with the story!
I woke up, tired. Then I realized, I'm late. "Shoot!" I said aloud and scrambled out of bed. I ran to my closet, threw some outfit on, and then rushed to my shared bathroom with my brother. I brushed my teeth, hair, and put on light makeup. Then, I went back to my room. I slipped some Vans on, then grabbed my bookbag, and headed downstairs. "Hey, Alex," dad said. "Hi. Where's breakfast?" I asked, frantically. "On the table...you runnin' late?" dad asked. I nodded. "Okay, school starts in 30 minutes." Dad reminds me. "I know!" I said and quickly took the toast. I then start to run to the door. "Bye, dad! Love you!" I called. "Love you too!" Dad called back.
I went outside and darted towards the school. It took me a while because I had to eat my toast as I ran. After 5 minutes, I finally made it to school, but just as the bell rang. "Shoot." I muttered. I quickly walked to my locker and got my supplies. Then, I rushed to my first bell. "Ms. Bowen. Late again, I see." my teacher said. "Sorry, Mrs." I muttered and sat down. "Well," my teacher started but was cut off by the speakers. "Students, please make your way to the gym for our traditional welcome back-to-school kick-off." they said. "Alright, come on, class." my teacher said. We all stood up and started our way to the gymnasium.
"And I am pleased to announce, seniors will be allowed to wear baseball hats on Fridays." the principal said. I am so bored. Everyone else is too. "And now for a special introduction," Mr. Gutierrez said, "this year, East High has a new drama teacher, with an announcement that she swore, in writing, it wouldn't cost a lot of money." he finished. We all clapped as a woman came up to the podium. I drifted off into thought as she spoke. "Please hold your applause! Go, Wildcats!" she said. I lifted my head. "Wildcats," I whispered.
"My name is Miss Jenn, and when I heard that High School Musical was shot, and had never staged a production, I just had to come so that we could pull this off. So, with that being said, auditions are tomorrow after school. Be there." Miss Jenn said. I may have squealed...okay. I squealed. She kept talking, but I wasn't listening. After a few minutes, we were free to leave. I walked back to class, excitedly. This is my chance! To show the school that I am a nobody! I thought.
~Time Skip~
The last bell of the day rang, so now school is over. "Yay." I muttered. I ran home, eager to practice. Then, as I was about to go home, I saw Ricky. I walked over to him. He didn't look great. "Hey, everything okay?" I asked. "Oh, hey, Alex. Everything's fine." Ricky said. I stopped him from walking. "I know when someone's lying...that's how I know you are." I said. "I can't do this right now, okay." Ricky said. "Fine, we can do it at home." I suggested. "Okay. What's up with you?" Ricky asked, to change the subject. "Auditions tomorrow. For the play." I said. "What? No. You don't want to do that," Ricky said. "Why?" I asked. "Because if you mess up, then," Ricky said. "No one's ever seen me sing." I muttered. "I have." Ricky said. "You don't count," I said, and we started walking home. Ricky chuckled.
"Well, I kinda do, and so does dad." Ricky said. I rolled my eyes. "Rick, you and dad don't count." I said. "Yes, we do!" Ricky said. "No, you don't. Just because you're family, doesn't mean it counts when you hear me sing." I said. "I'm offended." Ricky said. "Really?" I asked. "Sure. I mean, you don't count me as someone to hear your beautiful singing," Ricky said. "Wait. Did you just say I was good at singing?" I asked. "Um...yeah." Ricky said. "That's another reason. You're only saying that 'cause you're family." I said. "What! No, it really is good! I mean, you should be on broadway!" Ricky said. That made me laugh. "Broadway? Seriously, Ricky? You really think I should be on broadway? No. That ain't happening." I said. "It could." Ricky said. "Well, we're home." I said, stopping in front of the door. "Right." Ricky said. "So, you can tell me what happened." I said. "Um...later." Ricky said. "Fine, I'm going inside." I said, opening the front door. "Okay...see you later." Ricky said. "See ya." I said.
I walked inside, and no one was here. "Dad?" I asked, loudly. "Yeah, yeah. Okay. I gotta go, talk to you later. Bye." I could hear dad's voice say. I heard a phone hangup. "Dad?" I asked. "Oh, hey Jelly Bean! How was school?" Dad asked. "Good, who was that on the phone?" I asked. "Oh," Dad said. "Um...mom." Dad said. "Mom? Speaking of mom, when is she coming back?" I asked. "She's not coming back anytime soon…" Dad said. "What do you mean?" I asked. "She needs some time away. Just a few weeks," Dad said. "What? Are you," I said. "No, no. You don't need to worry about us. Just, just…" dad said. "Okay, I'm gonna go upstairs." I said. "Alright. See you at dinner!" Dad called as I walked up to my room.
I sighed. "Mom and dad...they've had their ups and downs. But this time, it really is a down." I said. "I just hope that they work everything out. Because if they don't, then I'm afraid of what's gonna happen." I said to no one. "Who am I talking to?" I asked. I shrugged, then sat down on my bed. I pulled out my phone. I thought about life. What's gonna happen as I get older? Will something good or bad happen to mom and dad? I wondered. Well, let's worry about the present and not the future. We don't even know what's gonna happen.
Here's the first chapter! I hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for reading!
