INTRO:
W: What best describes a villain? An evil foe that seeks to rule the world and destroy everything? Or just a misguided being who believes that they are just doing the right thing?
B: Well, the popular vote is that they're bad guys in general, and you don't get any more evil vibes than from DRAGONS!
W: Malefor, the Dark Master and nemesis of Spyro.
B: And Darkstalker, the oldest goddamn dragon in all of Pyrrhia! He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
W: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
MALEFOR:
(Malefor Battle Phase 1 - The Legend of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon)
W: Within the mythical lands of the Dragon Realms, legend has it that once every ten generations, a powerful and rare breed of purple dragon would be born. Since we've already covered Spyro, it's time to focus on his most famous enemy. This was before he was the Undead Dragon King of Skylands, before he was the father of Cynder, before he captured the Skylander Hex, and before he manipulated Calliope.
B: In fact, THIS Malefor didn't do any of that! Because the Legend of Spyro version is WAY more badass! And the one that started it all…
W: According to legend, Malefor was the very first purple dragon ever born. And as a purple dragon, he soon grew to control not just one element, but all of them. Something that was considered nigh impossible. He mastered Fire, Ice, Electricity, and Earth, as well as new elements that many thought never even existed. Taken in by the Dragon Elders, Malefor was taught to control his power, hoping he would lead them into a new age of peace and prosperity.
B: But being the arrogant sonuvabitch that he was, Malefor became arrogant and overconfident, and all he cared about was getting all the power and knowledge he could.
W: Thus, fearing his lack of restraint and his lust for power, as well as his power and knowledge growing far beyond what was expected, the Dragon Elders banished Malefor into exile. Filled with hatred for his own kind, Malefor abandoned his true calling and embraced the darkness of the Aether element, the signature raw ability of the Purple Dragon.
B: This Dark Aether, or Nether, was the complete opposite of the Aether/Convexity element. It corrupted Malefor's look and twisted his voice into a more deeper and badass tone. But by controlling the Dark Aether, he was able to partly resist its corruption mentally.
W: From that day forward, Malefor would be known by another title: The Dark Master.
(Malefor Battle Phase 2 - The Legend of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon)
B: Malefor is ridiculously powerful. He can control the classic Four Elements, and even Poison, Shadow, Wind, Fear, and possibly even Time itself! He has flight, super strength, and is even immortal! This guy's like a dragon GOD! Oh, and he also has some other abilities, like Dark Aether Fire, Aether Comet Dash, Aether Bomb, Aether Shield (a barrier that protects him from everything except for Light Aether Breath) and the Aether Breath.
W: Malefor is also cunning and a master manipulator. He is the complete opposite of Spyro, and since he is over a thousand years old, and even bigger than him, his elemental abilities are far more developed. He may possess the same abilities both Spyro and Dark Spyro have, only on a more stronger scale. He has mastery over Dragon Kata, strong enough to summon a giant Earth Golem and even the Destroyer, raise islands off the ground, corrupt other individuals, such as corrupting another dragon called Cynder, and even turning the Apes into undead ghouls when he learned that they only served him to use his power for their own goals.
B: Damn. That's...dark.
W: And you know what is darker? Malefor believed that the purple dragon's destiny was to direct the fate of an era. But since he abandoned his true calling and his perspective was twisted, Malefor believed that, in order to do so, he had to ensure the birth of a new world by destroying the old one. Thus, he believed he was NOT the first purple dragon, since all records of the previous "era" had all been erased.
B: And so, Malefor built himself a fortress within a mountain and afterwards recruited an army of Apes, teaching them how to artificially harness the power of the gems, which are the Dragons' lifeforce. It wasn't long before he sought more and greater power, waging a war against the Dragon race.
W: His actions sent the world spiraling into chaos, ruining the peaceful reputation of the Dragons in the process. With his army established and growing by the day, Malefor built a great fortress upon a mountain, and there he resided, staring out upon the lands. His sheer malice was so great, that it split the earth and created a pit of despair called the Mountain of Malefor, also known as the Well of Souls, by the evil-hearted.
B: But eventually, Malefor got his ass kicked by the Ancestors and was split apart and imprisoned in two different places. His soul would be sealed away within his own personal mountain, and his essence was sealed away into Convexity. The place, not the element. It's like an airlock dimension...but...it's complicated.
W: HA! Told you the element was called Aether! However, Malefor was still aware of what was happening. His army was still active, and he began manipulating a plan to escape from both the Well of Souls and Convexity, with his army carrying out his orders.
B: Centuries later, Malefor learned that ANOTHER purple dragon would be born to do what he couldn't, and he was pretty pissed about it. So he had his gorilla goons destroy the Dragon Temple and smash all the eggs. Except for one, since Malefor needed one to free his essence.
W: So, his servant, Gaul, the King of the Apes, went to work and began corrupting one dragon to become Malefor's most feared servant. This...was Cynder.
B: And Spyro managed to survive the attack on the temple, but you already know how he came to be. Long story short, he figured out he was a dragon, became the Dragon Avatar, and kicked his future girlfriend's ass to make her revert back to normal before she could free Malefor's essence.
W: However, Spyro was too late to prevent the portal from opening, which had become unstable thanks to Spyro's battle with Cynder. Malefor's essence got caught in the collapse of the Convexity dimension, and his soul entered the Well of Souls, still trapped. As his spirit awakened, an evil energy, possibly his returning essence, appeared at the peak of the Mountain of Malefor, a symbol of his presence within the dark mountain. With his essence freed, all Malefor needed was his soul. And he planned to reawaken during the Night of Eternal Darkness.
B: That's when the Celestial Moons cause a lunar eclipse, which also creates nonstop darkness for some time. And evil souls can't resist the temptation of the Well of Souls when this night comes. During this time, all corrupted souls and spirits can escape from their eternal rest and roam the halls of the Well of Souls until it ends. If a soul powerful enough, such as Malefor, were to exit from the mountain during this night, then they can fully escape and plague the realms. Which...happened.
W: After Dark Spyro killed Gaul, he was reverted back to normal and had no choice but to encase himself, Sparx, and Cynder in crystal to survive the mountain collapsing onto them. Thus, now being free and the only true opposition in suspended animation, Malefor proceeded to plague the world and finished what he had started so many years ago.
(Malefor Battle Phase 3 - The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn Of The Dragon)
B: He plunged the world into war for the next three years, and even attacked the Dragon Temple and claimed it for himself. Oh, and he also turned the apes into spooky ghouls and replaced them with Grublins.
W: And when Spyro, Cynder, and Sparx were freed from the crystal, Malefor had the two dragons chained together by green snake collars that were magical and unbreakable, and then had them sacrificed to a massive Golem.
B: Luckily, they escaped, and the Golem was literally disarmed. Until he got a new one.
W: Still, Malefor had his army invade the city of Warfang where the two dragons were, but the attack was an utter failure. Until that night, when Malefor revealed his endgame…
B: He'd bring about the apocalypse by summoning the Destroyer and usher in a new world by blowing up the old one. This giant golem would create a Belt of Fire and when it went back into the volcano from whence it came, KABOOM! Bye-bye, world!
W: The dragons did everything they could to stop it, but Malefor only controlled the Destroyer like a puppet to finish its destiny. To stop him, Spyro and Cynder confronted Malefor, which ultimately led them to the core of the world.
B: And through the power of teamwork and true love, Malefor's nemesis and ex-daughter managed to defeat him and knock him to the planet's crystal core, in which he was dragged into by several dragon spirits. The snake collars were removed permanently, and Spyro used his Light Aether to repair and save the world.
W: Although he would continue his dark rampage within several reincarnations in Skylands, Malefor would always and forever be known at his best when he was the ultimate threat to the Dragon Realms.
Malefor: Prepare to die! (He flies upwards, with Spyro and Cynder following him)
DARKSTALKER:
(Darkstalker's Duet - Music Mommy)
B: Okay, fair warning here. There's not much video stuff for this one, so we're just literally going by the books. Take it away, Wiz!
W: Two thousand years ago, within the draconic land of Pyrrhia, there existed two dragon kingdoms far within the west. The Night Kingdom and the Ice Kingdom.
B: There's also the Sand Kingdom sandwiched right in between, but this isn't about them.
W: It all started with what could be explained as a forbidden romance. Like Romeo and Juliet, these two dragons ran away to have a future of their own: Foeslayer of the Nightwings, and Prince Arctic of the Icewings. Together, under the light of the planet's three moons, they had a powerful hybrid son. One that would change the very history of Pyrrhia itself. His name...was Darkstalker.
B: And no, this WASN'T the Capcom series! Darkstalker could read minds and see the future, just like all other Nightwings when they hatched under the moons. But he was considered the most powerful dragon in history because of another thing he got from his literally cool dad: He was an animus!
W: To clarify, Animus dragons wield a powerful kind of magic that allows them to enchant ANYTHING to do ANYTHING. They could enchant a coconut to float, enchant a scroll to "speak" in someone's voice, or even enchant a dragon...to kill itself.
B: Yeah, animus magic is kinda cool, but dangerous. I mean, if you use too much of it, you kinda go crazy. Just like this Albatross guy. But it only happens if you use that stuff for evil.
W: Darkstalker showed a promising future, having mapped the road ahead with his soulmate Clearsight, was close with his sister Whiteout, and was even close with his Seawing friend Fathom, who was also an animus...but the grandson of Albatross. After his grandfather's murder spree, which nearly killed Fathom's love interest Indigo, he swore an oath to never use his animus magic again.
Popup: In one timeline, Darkstalker and Clearsight were to have six children, half of them being named Eclipse, Shadowhunter, and Fierceclaws.
B: Well, Darkstalker was kinda trigger happy with his power. He kept enchanting various things, eventually for more sinister desires. He trapped Indigo in a wood carving that Fathom made, made Fathom forget about Indigo, had Clearsight only have visions of good futures, and a bunch of stuff. Hell, he even enchanted HIMSELF to be invincible, which helped him survive a normally fatal assassination attempt. Yeah, he was basically immortal. AND he was also immune to all animus spells except his own, as well as able to sense animus magic. But he knew what would happen, so he needed a talisman to put all of his power into so that he wouldn't lose his soul.
W: This would be a scroll, in which he would jot down all of his enchantments with an invisible ink. And as a failsafe, he created a soul reader from an enchanted telescope with a small hourglass on the side to show whether a dragon was good or evil. The white sand would represent evil, and the black sand would represent good.
B: Wait Wait Wait Wait, this is too confusing for me. Isn't WHITE good and BLACK evil?
W: Well, Darkstalker took more after his mother, who saw him as a hero that chased the darkness away. But his father saw him as a villain who LURKED in the darkness. Thus, this would be the first of many steps that would lead Darkstalker to HATE the Icewings, as his birth alone ignited a war between the Icewings and Nightwings.
B: Like what the Mongols and Catapults did back in Shakespeare's time?
W: Montagues and Capulets, Boomstick.
B: You KNOW I didn't take up theatre!
W: Anyway, Darkstalker also created three Dreamvisitors, which could allow whoever had them to enter the dreams of other dragons. If the target is in shallow sleep, the user will only see the dream. If the dragon is in a deep, calm sleep, the user can talk to the dreamer. Sometimes dragons experiencing nightmares cannot be reached.
B: So...almost like Freddy Kruger, but without all the killing.
W: Darkstalker created the Dreamvisitors to connect himself, Clearsight, and Fathom. However, when he learned about what happened to his mother, who fought with his father and took off an earring. HOWEVER, this earring was enchanted by Arctic to prevent her from being affected by animus magic. And when Icewing Queen Diamond, herself an animus, got through to Foeslayer, she enchanted her to fly to the Ice Kingdom.
B: Darkstalker was understandably upset, but didn't want to use any of his magic spells to rescue her since he didn't want to find out if she was dead. What you don't know can't hurt you, right?
W: Still, that didn't stop Darkstalker. However, all of his plans would lead to the same thing: the genocide of the Icewings. And when an assassin tried to kill him, Darkstalker used another enchantment in his scroll to find out who hired the assassin, one that many would consider would be the last straw, the final enchantment when Darkstalker's mind snapped, and he began to descend into madness…
B: Yep. Turns out Nightwing Queen Vigilance sent the assassin. I guess that's what you get for being a half-breed bastard: Both of your races want you dead. Oh yeah, and he also wanted to become King of all Pyrrhia, as the very first one ever.
W: However, Darkstalker's attempt to kill the queen was interrupted when he had a vision of his father taking his sister to the Ice Kingdom, possibly as a bargain to get Foeslayer back. Not wanting to possibly lose her too, Darkstalker used a beetle to break Arctic's shielding earring and even stabbed him with a dagger, all of which were with animus magic.
B: Darkstalker then forced his dad to obey his every command like he was his king, and had him break the spell he had Whiteout under, and had him confess to the Nightwings that he had tried to betray the NightWings and was going to offer a detailed map of the kingdom so the IceWings could infiltrate it.
W: And then, Darkstalker coldly told his father to cut out his tongue and disembowel himself with his own claws.
B: OH MY F***ING GOD! NOW I'M REALLY GLAD WE DON'T HAVE VIDEO FOOTAGE! THAT'S GOTTA BE ONE HELL OF A FATALITY, MIXED WITH A BUNCH OF KETCHUP!
W: Boomstick, Icewing blood is BLUE.
B: Oh come on, Wiz! The books are black and white and there's not even that many pictures!
W: This led to a final confrontation with Clearsight on Agate Mountain, which would soon be the tallest mountain no longer.
B: Like Anakin and Obi-Wan at Mustafar? How's she gonna even get the high ground, let alone even kill him?
W: Simple. She didn't. During their brief confrontation, she slipped an enchanted bracelet onto his arm, which knocked him out and put him into an endless sleep. And thus, she buried him under the mountain. An earthquake proceeded to trap him in the mountain via a landslide, where he would remain for the next 2,000 years. That is, until a comet caused another earthquake that broke the bracelet, finally awakening Darkstalker. And he managed to make contact with another almost like him: A young Nightwing called Moonwatcher.
B: But the Nightwing powers were thought to be just stories, since the old kingdom was sunken and their new volcano home prevented the moonlight from shining down onto them...yeah, it's been too long. It's complicated.
W: Darkstalker was devastated to learn how many years had passed, and that history depicted him as a monster. And now, he was a legend and story to scare dragons, moreso to Icewings. However, there was still a way for him to reawaken.
B: Yeah, and that was by destroying his scroll, which would make all of his power return to him. Which a Skywing called Peril did, seeing that the scroll had too much power for one dragon to have. But she didn't know about that other part. Whoops.
W: And so, Darkstalker burst from Agate Mountain, now at a towering size.
B: Wait, he's a giant now?! Man, talk about growth spurts!
W: Darkstalker convinced the Jade Winglet that he is not evil (and even casted a spell to help convince Winter). However, Turtle, Fathom's descendant, feared Darkstalker's wrath, and enchanted a stick to hide himself from him. Darkstalker also had a mentorly impact on Turtle's sister, Anemone, herself an animus, albeit made that way by Turtle since he didn't want to be discovered as one.
B: But eventually, the truth slipped out to Anemone, both that she was made animus by Turtle and that she was being manipulated by Darkstalker. And when Darkstalker saw Turtle, OH BOY, he was pissed. However, when Turtle was attacked, his girlfriend Kinkajou was furious and straight up melted Darkstalker's EYES with her Rainwing venom! WHICH he regenerated with magic! Damn, that's badass! Oh wait, he also stripped Turtle of his animus powers, too!
W: Darkstalker also attempted to recreate Clearsight through Fierceteeth. He also stated that a fierce battle between the Nightwings and Icewings would take place at Jade Mountain and a fierce storm would also be there, thus fulfilling the Jade Mountain Prophecy.
B: Luckily, Qibli, who accidentally started the storm in the first place, managed to magic it away. And when the Sandwing confronted Darkstalker and refused a deal, Darkstalker said he would have to kill the Sandwing, only for Qibli to point to the soul-reader at Darkstalker to show all white sand! So, I guess he was good all-WAIT, THAT'S BAD! That means that Darkstalker is (gasps) evil!
W: Wow. What a surprise.
B: Darkstalker panicked over this, so he repaired the thing since he thought it was broken (yeah, it's ancient) and even re-enchanted it, but the results were still the same.
W: Now facing the horrible truth, Darkstalker was forced to accept that it was his actions that made him evil and NOT his magic. However, he also learned a shocking and joyful revelation: His mother...was alive.
B: Wait, what?! But it's been 2,000 years! Shouldn't this be her great-great...uhhh…many more great grandchildren?
W: Well, remember when she returned to the Ice Kingdom? As punishment for stealing a royal Icewing and making him a traitor, she was frozen in the Diamond Caves and made as part of an Icewing trial known as the Diamond Trial: One must defeat her and freeze her up again before killing the opposition. She would be frozen over and over again in an endless cycle of torment and agony. Like hell, but without the fire.
B: That is, until an Icewing called Winter showed up. He asked why Foeslayer stole Arctic, and she told him the truth. When he learned it was kind of like his feelings for Moonwatcher, he freed Foeslayer and she promised to leave the Icewings alone. However, her plans to go back to the old Nightwing Kingdom would be shattered, as she too also found out about its fate.
W: Soon, mother and son were at long last reunited. Darkstalker tells his mother that he has become evil, and she agrees. Moon also tells Darkstalker about her vision of a dragon obsessed with strawberries, gets married, has two dragonets, and lives happily for the rest of his life. Moon suggests this dragon is him but with a spell to restart his life. Darkstalker refuses to do so because he wants to remember Clearsight and keep his powers. He says that with his power, he can create a good future. Foeslayer, Moon, Kinkajou, and Qibli all agreed it was better if he did not do that. Foeslayer hands him a strawberry and suggests that he does it because it will make both of them happy. After considering a little, he then eats the strawberry, saying that no animus magic will work on him.
B: Yeah, but what about your OWN magic, huh?! Eat THAT, you giant black beast!
W: Kinkajou had enchanted the strawberry with Darkstalker's scroll before Peril destroyed it, and when he ate it, Darkstalker turned into a new dragon: A Rainwing-Nightwing hybrid with no memory of his past life. His name...would now be Peacemaker. And Foeslayer would also go by a new name: Hope.
B: Well, despite the new identity he now has, there's no denying the kind of power and dark legacy the Darkstalker has left in his wake…
Darkstalker: This is my mother. Those are my full moons. This is my world now.
THE FIGHT:
W: Alright, the combatants are set! And we've run the data through all possibilities! Let's end this debate once and for all!
B: It's time for a DEATH BATTLLLLEEEEEEE!
…
(Antagonists By Design - Brandon Yates)
Malefor rampages throughout the volcanic NightWing Island, easily burning away any Nightwing that challenges him.
Malefor: Bah! Pathetic Shadow users! Even the Dragon Guardians would be more of a match!
Suddenly, a massive figure lands in front of him. Malefor looks up to see Darkstalker before him. When he sees the other Nightwings running away in fear, he simply smiles.
Malefor: At last…
He unleashes a powerful fire breath, but Darkstalker dodges this thanks to his ability to see the future.
Darkstalker: You don't belong here, monster! I'll make sure that you become nothing but ash!
Malefor: Really? It seems you and I have walked down the same path.
Darkstalker (growling): I am NOT evil…
Malefor: We shall see. Now come! Fulfill your destiny!
DB Announcer: Fight!
The two dragons charge and begin to trade blows. Malefor dodges a bite and counters with a tail swipe, then blasts out Ice Breath at Darkstalker, which he dodges.
Darkstalker (thinking): What?! Is he an Icewing?!
He takes flight and camouflages with the night sky. Malefor follows him, but has trouble seeing him. So, he unleashes a wave of fire in all directions, which burns Darkstalker as he falls to the ground.
Darkstalker: Fire AND Ice?! Did you enchant yourself?! Are you even an animus?!
Malefor (chuckling): Fool. You face a Purple Dragon!
They continue clashing, with Darkstalker blocking Electricity with his scales and even taking a heavy blow from Malefor's Earth element. His flight is messed up by Wind, then Malefor follows up with a screech from the Fear element, which paralyzes him.
Malefor (thinking): Now, it is HIS turn to fear…
Malefor then charges up his Fire breath, which Darkstalker counters with his own fire breath. The two fire beams struggle before cancelling each other out.
Darkstalker: I fear NOTHING.
Malefor: So, you are telepathic. Let us see what ELSE you can do…
Darkstalker notices a nearby scavenger sword and reaches out with his mind.
Darkstalker (thinking): Enchant this sword to strike my foe in the heart.
The sword then zooms towards Malefor, but he sees it and crushes it in his jaws. Countering, he unleashes Dragon Time and unleashes a barrage of Dragon Kata moves on Darkstalker, then finishes with powerful Shadow and Poison breaths. When time resumes, Darkstalker is knocked back.
Malefor: Your scales are quite durable. But just how much punishment can they take?
Darkstalker (panting): Yours will NEVER be enough. I've been trapped under a mountain for two thousand years.
Malefor: Heh. That is nothing to me.
Malefor then charges and, while blocking Darkstalker's fire breath with his forcefield, cuts off Darkstalker's tongue with his claws before biting him in the neck and throwing him. Coughing up blood, Darkstalker simply regenerates his tongue.
Malefor: Impossible...can nothing slay you?!
Darkstalker: I made myself immortal. Your strange powers are nothing to me. And I am far stronger than you EVER were…
Darkstalker spreads his wings.
Darkstalker: I enchant you to obey my every command! Now tear off your own head!
At first, it seems like Malefor is under the influence, as his claws slowly reach for his head as he struggles. Suddenly, he roars as he unleashes a Dark Aether Fury attack, which stuns Darkstalker.
Darkstalker: AGH! What?!
Malefor (laughs): HAHAHAHAHAHA! YOU FOOL! That petty little trick will not WORK on me! You are not the only one that is eternal!
Malefor then grabs Darkstalker's scroll and enchants a Spirit Gem, which he throws at Darkstalker. It shatters upon impact, and the enchantment is shown to remove Darkstalker's invincibility.
Malefor: Now feel the Fury of the Dark Master!
Malefor then unleashes a powerful blast of Dark Aether, which washes completely over Darkstalker as he screams.
Darkstalker: NOOOOOOOOOO!
Darkstalker is then disintegrated at the atomic level by the Dark Aether Fury Breath. With his foe destroyed, Malefor laughs as the volcano erupts, which the Destroyer emerges from.
Malefor: Welcome to the end of the world…
THE AFTERMATH:
DB Announcer: KO!
B: Well, it looks like Pyrrhia's screwed. And Pantala too, for that matter.
W: Don't get us wrong, Darkstalker IS indestructible, immortal, AND has regeneration. He could've enchanted himself to make himself stronger than Malefor, or just pulled an Arctic. BUT he does have ONE weakness: His OWN magic.
B: Malefor's a purple dragon who fell to darkness, so with that power, he could resist Darkstalker's enchantments on him. Plus, even though Darkstalker's impenetrable scales would easily make the elemental attacks bounce off, Convexity doesn't exist in the Wings of Fire continuity, so there's no way he could counter both that and the elements. Plus, if anyone got their hands on his scroll and enchanted him to no longer be invincible, it was pretty much game over.
W: Darkstalker may be of two dragon species, but Malefor had mastered the abilities of MORE than just two. Besides, Malefor has the same abilities as Spyro, and we've covered that the Dark Aether's power is comparable to that of an atom smasher, and it can destroy even antimatter. And immortality doesn't really matter if there's nothing for you to regenerate from.
B: Looks like Darkstalker couldn't enchant his way to victory.
W: The winner is Malefor.
