chapter 1-two demigods

Charlotte POV

"Do you have everything." My mom asked me from inside the kitchen. I plopped myself down grabbing a piece of bacon from the breakfast table "Yup, all packed and ready for camp"

"Promise me you won't get into any trouble."The reason my mom was telling me this wasn't Because of the monsters it had to do with. I act more like a Hermes child then daughter of hypnos. "Mom I will be fine. "

"I know honey but I don't want anything to happen to you. Now go upstairs grab your bags we're leaving after breakfast" After finishing breakfast we got into the car 20 minutes in and my ADHD started acting up. So I decided to start thinking about if Alice, my best friend from camp was already there.

By this time my mom was telling me about a new job. She is going to be a teacher at the end of summer."So what are you going to be teaching anyways."

My mom's whole story about being a teacher she never told me what she was actually going to be teaching.

She's forgetful like that "Oh Right . . . I'm going to be teaching english class for 6 and 7 graders." After that conversation I was right next to Thalia tree. "I'll be fine mama I promise, now goodbye and love you," I waved to my mom while crossing the camps border

As soon as I crossed camp borders I went straight to the Hermes cabin to put my bags away. What I saw was interesting. My bed looks like it hasn't been touched all school year?What doesn't make sense.

The Hermes cabin is almost always dirty. It was almost never clean."What is going on."

I muttered under my breath.

"There was a tiny explosion." I whip my head around to see Luke Castellan, the head counselor for Hermes cabin.

"What do you mean tiny explosion? the room I've never seen it been this clean." I enquired trying to get an answer out of him.

Luke's sign explaining that Travis and Connor Stoll had gone their hands on fireworks.

"That makes total sense they've done that before but they've never cleaned the entire entire cabin because of it?" I said thinking back on it.

"The firework went all around the room breaking and setting things on fire a lot of things have to be replaced."

Luke said That's when I realized last time it happened we had to replace everything that happened, burned and broken. "So where's the rest of the captain then?"

That was one of the thoughts that kept replaying in my head even if things had burned down we would still have people in the cabin.

"Well Travis and Connor are who knows where, and the rest of the cabin isn't allowed in here until I make sure There are no fireworks or anything that can start a fire."

"Ok" I said while putting my begs underneath my bed.

"So what have you found while looking." I was very curious to see what he found after all this was still the Hermes cabin.

"Well I actually found- oh hi Annabeth." She had run in halfway through his sentence.

I was going to say something but one look at her face told me it was serious.

"Chiron wants both of you at the Big House." I nodded my head and started walking towards her.

"What are you waiting for?"

I looked at Luke waiting for him as I signed. As soon as I did that he started walking. I wonder why he was acting so weird, but after his quest he never really acted the same. We walked all the way there in silence.

As soon as we got there Annabeth spoke. "Chiron is ready waiting for you."

I nodded my head and walked into the Big house.I sat on a chair as soon as I came to the room."I need you guys to bring two demigods Here.

A nymph discovered them"

"Why me I get why Luke here but why me Chiron" It just didn't make any sense.

"They are close to your age Charlotte" Nobody called me Charlotte at camp they always call me lottie my nickname.As soon as he said it I knew something was up.

" Okay so when are you leaving and who are these two demigods anyways"If I must go I might as well learn who these girls were anyways

"It is two girls one goes by the name of Madeline and the other Isabella And you'll be leaving this afternoon"

After the meeting I went to get my weapons and it was only 15 minutes until we had to leave.

I was wondering if these two girls knew that they were demigods.

Well I'm going to find out real soon. "The car is ready let's go"

"Who's coming with us" Chiron had told us to take someone with us just in case. I had never asked Luke who we were taking. I just really hope it wasn't someone who can't handle a weapon.

That happened before they nearly died.

"We're taking Chris." Chris Rodriguez was 2 years older than me. But he's a hell of a good fighter. So I wasn't complaining.

Madeline POV

Me and Isabella were eating school lunches underneath the tree. That's when I heard a noise from the bushes. "Did you hear that?"

"It's probably nothing Bells" As soon as I used the nickname, her face looked painful to hear it. She huffed while rolling her eyes. "Okay but when whatever is behind the bushes tries to bite me I get to say I told you so."

"Yeah right"But as soon as I said that a noise came from the bushes again. "Okay I think you're right we should move" But we were too late. I saw something come into the bushes.

It looked like a human and half bird?

"WHAT . . . what is that thing." Isabella had shouted as soon as she saw it. I could hear her heavy breathing. What to do, what to do that was the only thing I could think about at the time.

It was coming right for me! But before I could hurt me somebody was running towards us. A girl she looked around our age, Her hair was black and up In a ponytail .

She was wearing blue shorts and a black blouse.The girl screamed "I got them you take care of the monster." The two boys nodded as the girl turned to look at us.

"Me and those two boys over there are here to pick you two up, now let's go before more of them show up ."she kept looking over while talking to us. Isabella was the first to say " how do we know we can trust you."

the girl smiled at that response " smart girl you must be Isabella right."

That's when I spoke up. " hey what's that supposed to mean."

"Nothing important, Now let's go." There are three more half-bird half-human things.She whistled in both boys Whistle Back. "Come on let's go in the car and wait."

"But what about them."Show me the face of realization then turn back again looking at the boys for a split second before turning around.

"They'll be fine. They know what they're doing"

As soon as we were all in the van She made another whistling sound when the boys came over panting."Come on you guys act like it was hard"

The young boy looked at her disbelieving"Well if it's not that hard then why don't you do it Charlotte."

The girl looked annoyed and huffed." well I was getting those two and we both know, I'm a better fighter than you."

"Why don't you take a little nap? You'll feel better." He said in a taunting and angry voice. one look at her and you could tell she was getting angry. " why don't you go steal something." she said back.

"Would you two just shut up." the older boy said. the girl grumbled but didn't say anything after that.

That's when Isabella spoke up. "What the hell was that thing back there! and where are you taking us?" That's when the girl spoke up.

"I'm Charlotte but everybody just calls me Lottie and to answer your question "that thing" was a harpy and we're taking you to a safe place."

"that still doesn't answer the question ."

Isabella stated. The older boy spoke up." Well what do you know about Greek mythology?" I looked at the boy for the first time. He had a scar on his right eye. I looked at him curiously and said. "Like Zeus"

Girl named Charlotte looked at the boy."You do realize you hadn't told her your name right." She looked amused.

He turned his head back away from the steering wheel. "Because I'm driving." He retorted back.

"Ammm . . . So are you going to tell us your name."I spoke.

He signed."It's Luke, Luke Castellan and you."

"It's Maddie short for Madeline; Now will someone explain why Greek mythology has to do with where you take us?" Charlotte looked at both of the boys for a second then she looked back at me. "Well the Greek gods ARE real, and we are the children of these gods."

I put my hand in front of her, stopping her from talking. "Hold up so you're saying I'm a child of a god."I looked at her like she was crazy. actually let me rephrase that, I looked at her because she was crazy.

She looked at the other boy next to her and said "she's in denial." In a whisper."I'm not in denial, you're just crazy."

Isabella spoke up. "Madeline, I think they're telling the truth."She spoke in a quiet and soft tone.

I was going to say something before I was interrupted. "We're here." Luke the boy in front of us said, look back at us.

Charlotte looked at us with a smile on her face. "Welcome to Camp Half-Blood."
