This is a story about a very special girl.

Her name brings comfort to all that hear it.

She adopts both humans and demons alike to her family.

And she even has tamed the most fearsome demon of them all.

Now, sit down and relax as we spin you the tale of...

The Queen of the Night.

"Who are you at my window?"

"I'm a forest fairy that guards the village! Never seen you before."

Long ago, in a distant village, there was a sickly boy. They told him he would die before hitting the age of twenty. This disheartened the young boy as he tried to find a way to extend his life and make sure he would live forever.

His parents treated him like a delicate flower and locked him away in his room. He was trapped in his bed for hours at end. The daylight shone on his face and the moonlight blinded him at night. How he longed to be outside and play with the other children. All he had were his books and even those were starting to get dull.

Then one day, just as he was about to go mad from the blinding sun, a figure blocked it as she sat on the branch of a tree that grew outside the window. Who he saw made him curious and as he rose up from his bed, was met with the sunniest face he had ever seen.

Her skin was kissed by the sun itself, dark as the wood from the branch she sat upon. Her hair was light green, a single green leaf in her short cut hair. Her eyes were chestnut brown, glinting with kindness. Her pink lips curling into a smile at the boy her age. Her kimono was slightly torn from climbing up the tree, dirtied and quite ripped. Smiling down at him, she took a leap and sat at his windowsil.

"I've never heard of a forest fairy, not do I believe that you are one of them." The pale face boy said, glaring at her. "Now who are you?"

"You got me! I'm a regular fairy with the power of the stars!" She made a soft smile at him. "My name is Amatani Sorashi, but you can call me Hoshihime!"

He turned away, not wanting to hear anymore of her nonsense. "Leave me alone, I don't need some princess coming in my room."

Sorashi giggled, looking around his room. "Why is your room so sad? Are you okay?"

The young boy buried himself under his blanket. "Why does it matter? I'm sick, I'm going to die one day, and nobody is going to care. I just wish that I could live a little longer or forever."

The girl saw this and was quite sadden by how he was acting. Wanting to make him feel better, she grabbed his hands and placed them in her own. The boy gasped, noticing her kissing his hands.

"Since I am the fairy of the stars, I can make any wish come true. If your wish is to live forever, then I will grant that wish!" Her eyes sparkled as if showcasing some sort of power. "May you live and prosper!"

It was at that moment that the young boy starting to believe that love at first sight wasn't ridiculous at all. The girl let go of his hands and went back to the window.

"If you like, I can visit you every day to relieve your loneliness." Before she could leave, she turned around. "Oh yes, what is your name?"

The boy blushed, showcasing on his pale face. "My name is Muzan."

Sorashi continued to visit the young boy as he transitioned into a young man. He found her presence calming and relieved his sorrow. They got to know each other on a more personal level, outside the friendship they had. Now, even in their twenties, she still came to check on him.

He learned that she lived with her aunt and uncle and their three sons. With her being the only girl, she was expected to take care of her uncle and cousins with her aunt, but she wanted to learn the sword styles that he taught. Her cousins, bless their souls, secretly taught her some moves for her safety in spite of the uncle protesting. The "fairy" aspect about her never changed however, slightly making Muzan convinced that she did know magic.

He had told her that a doctor would be coming soon with a drug that could heal him. Sorashi knew this was important since every day she would visit, she would comfort him from the pain of the other medications. The pain in his body caused him to cough up blood daily, but she would wipe his face afterwards. He would lay his head across her lap, eyes closed as she told him stories about the stars.

"Tell me about the stars again." This was the last night before he would take this medicine. He was laying across her lap again, looking at the moonlight with a solemn smile. "If it is to be the last time I see you, I want to hear your legend once more."

Sorashi sighed happily before caressing his hair. "Okay Mu-Chan, I'll tell you the story about Hoshihime and her guardian stars."

"There once was a kingdom that never fell, where the people never grew old and everyone was happy. In this kingdom, there was a palace made of stars that housed Hoshihime, the princess of the stars. She was beautiful, beloved by all and her kindness knew no bounds. There were many who tried to take advantage of her kind nature, so twelve knights were assigned to guard her at all hours of the day. Those knights would become her stars, the ones with powers to protect her forever. For as long as she stayed her kind and beautiful self, then the kingdom would flourish forever."

Muzan traced her hands with his fingers. "That story is one of my favorites. I never told you about how I would end it."

"Oh you made a continuation of my story? I'm all ears." Sorashi said, eager to hear the next part of her short story.

Muzan gripped her hand tightly, nervous that she might disappear. "Hoshihime was guarded by those stars that protected her. However, a red star made its way into her kingdom. This star saw the princess and wanted her for himself. So, he waited until the night to snatch her away from her palace. Though she was frightened at first, she grew to love her captor as he showed her a world outside the palace. They would eventually get married in private. Her stars eventually found them, but in seeing her happy, they celebrated their union. The kingdom now had a new name for their princess, the Queen of the Night."

"Oh? Am I your Queen of the Night Mu-Chan?" Sorashi teased, poking his cheek.

"And what if you were? Would you say yes?" Muzan leaned upwards and faced her. "If I survive tomorrow, will you be my queen?"

"Mu-chan..." Sorashi was surprised by this sudden proposal. They had bonded for years now and he never expressed his emotions like this before. This made her smile softly as she held his hands in the same way she did all those years ago. "Since I am the fairy of the stars, I shall grant your wish! When you survive tomorrow, I shall give my life for you."

His heart fluttered as she did the kissing of his hands like she did before. Now, more determined than ever, he wanted to live and make her his queen. If she kept her promise, then he would be the happiest man alive.

Who knew that tomorrow was going to be the worst day of their lives.

"Sorashi, help me bring the laundry in before it rains!"

"Okay Aunt Mika! I'll come out!"

The winds were picking up as a storm was brewing from the south the next day. Dark clouds appeared to be gathered over the town, thunder rumbling loudly. Uncle Sato and her two cousins were awaiting for the third brother to come home since he was out of town for awhile. Sorashi went outside as the winds blew her body around, spitting out green strands of hair. Aunt Mika had a whole basket full of clothes as a red sheet flew out.

"I've got it Auntie!" Sorashi yelled through the howling winds, chasing after the sheet that was now flying in the wind.

"Sorashi! Come back!" Her warning fell on deaf ears as her niece ran after the sheet.

Now the storm was in full force as Sorashi made it to a cliffside outside the village. The dark skinned girl finally grabbed the sheet, putting it over her hair as she slowly backed away from the edge.

I really need to get away from this cliff. I may be a fairy, but I don't think I can fly. Besides, I need to check on Mu-Chan and see if he still wants-

BOOM!

The piece of cliff that she was standing on broke apart from a flash of lightning. Sorashi screamed as she fell backwards off the cliffside. Many thoughts flew through her head as tears streamed down her face.

Mu-Chan...I'm so sorry...I failed to grant your wish.

Muzan stood in the midst of his now dead hometown. The rain had stopped, blood now permeating from every nook and cranny. He wiped his now bloodied fangs and strolled through the quiet town. His senses were heightened, his strength increased, and even felt like he could live forever.

"Where is my queen? I thought she would be waiting for me when I was healed?" He wondered aloud, trying to locate her among the houses. When he couldn't find a trace of her, he started to get mad. "Was what she said a lie? Did she not want to stay with me? Did she leave me alone?"

Just as he was about to curse her name, he caught the scent of blood in the air that was outside the village. His nonexistent heart started thumping wildly as he ran fast until he reached the cliffside.

"No...she couldn't..." Tears started running down his face as he leapt down the cliff. "Sorashi...my queen...please be alive!"

At the bottom, he felt his heart stop. Covered with a red sheet was the slowly dying body of his beloved. Her head was bleeding out, her bones shattered, and her eyes glazed over. Tears were seen running down her face, but she looked up to see Muzan staring down at her.

"M-M-Mu-Chan...you're are a-a-alive." Sorashi struggled to say, coughing up blood. "Your w-w-wish came true. I'm so glad."

Muzan knelt down and caressed her face. "Yes I am. You still are going to keep your promise to me right?"

Sorashi smiled, her breathing getting shallow. "Looks like I can't. I think my twelve stars are waiting for me right now." She raised a shaky hand and patted his own. "Mu-Chan, thank you for being my friend."

Muzan was silent before cutting his hand with his sharp nail. Blood slipped out as he gave her a desperate look. Prying her lips apart, he dripped the blood down her throat, hoping that it would take affect.

Please...stay with me, my queen. You will become what I am, become my equal.

That night was my new beginning.

I became a nightstalker due to him.

He promise me twelve stars for protection.

My children...my friends...I will protect them all.

For I am the Queen of the Night.

Greetings everyone!

I love Demon Slayer, reading the manga and watching the anime. Creating this story was about creating an A.U based upon someone who could be both a demon and a queen. The twelve stars refer to the Kizuki, in which Sorashi will become a motherly figure towards. She will also meet other characters and bond with them too.

Her relationship with Muzan is the start of her many lovers too.

Please enjoy this story!
