Long ago, animals were being persecuted by humans when the world was still young. Undergoing supreme prejudice, they were nearly huted down to extinction. Seeing all of this, a supernatural dragon deity named Mei Lung could not stand to see the persecution anymore. So, using her powers of creation, along with the help of Brahma, she and the Hindu deity decided to create a large island for many of the animals in Asia. To protect the island, they also raised a massive coral reef so no boats from humans could get across the land bridge, but left an opening for only animals to get through.

Soon other large islands began to form as well:

Tenerife Island of the North

Long Island in the West

South Shetland Island of the South

And the two islands of the East, the latter being Jima

As the animals despaired, Mei Lung and Brahma approached them, along with many other deities and benevolent gods throughout Asia and the world, on one warm and quiet night and informed them of their new homes, where they could live in relative safety and harmony, free from peering humans. Leading all of the animals across the bridge, one of the deities, Trimurti then noticed that some of the humans were following them. When the last of the animals had escaped into the city under Brahma's guidance, Mei Lung and Shiva destroyed the land bridge by sinking it under the sea. The animals were now safe at last on the five islands.

Eventually, after many years, Mei Lung entered the spirit realm to rest from her duties on earth. However, she and Brahma also gave all of the animals the ability to shapeshifter into human form, as a means of hiding themselves from any humans should they ever decide to approach the mainland of Asia. Brahma also ascended into the spirit realm as well, but he is still said to look over the land even to this day. Soon after, all the other deities had ascended as well, but many of the animals still remember their kindness and their work in rescuing the animals from extinction that threatened them on the mainland. However, it is said that during the time when they are needed most, at least one deity will return to the land to help the inhabitants in their solemn hour.

The animals still thank Mei Lung, Brahma, Trimurti, Vishnu and Shiva for their duties even to this day, and they also named the first city of the East in Asia, Anandapur, the Kingdom of Happiness, as a reminder of how they brought them peace at last.

However, strange happenings began occurring in the island of Anandapur after centuries of peace, and now, a few humans are beginning to learn about the animals living there. Only time will tell if the animals and humans can coexist.

This is their story. The story of twelve individuals who would take on the duty to protect the island, especially the one girl that wasn't born there.

This is the story of the Island City known as Anandapur. Or more commonly known as…
