Fai looks up at the bones towering above them, held up by wire and embedded into stone in the hope that they wouldn't then collapse on top of visitors such as themselves.

He looks to the head of the beast, barely visible from the ground floor where they are, and smiles down at Sakura and Syaoran who listen attentively as he hums, looking at the plaque with the squiggles on for what seems like a suitable amount of time and then points up at the head.

"This creature used to fish in the oceans with its long tail which it could detach if it got bit too hard. That's why its head was so far away- so the other creatures couldn't get it." He says.

"It used to put berries on its tail to trick the animals it was going to eat!" Mokona adds, nodding sagely from Fai's shoulder as Kurogane looked at them both flatly.

"That doesn't make sense." The warrior says blandly, arms crossed.

Unfortunately this goes unheard by Sakura who is staring up at the long neck of the creature and down the tail in awe and by Syaoran who is currently reading the little plaque in front of the bones and looking more and more worried by the second.

"Uh- Fai-san- the plaque doesn't say anything about that." He ventures, eyes wide, as if Fai had simply made a mistake.

"Hmmm, maybe you're translating wrong?" The mage suggests, shrugging calmly.

"Or maybe you're just lying to them." Kurogane scoffs, standing behind Syaoran as the boy peruses the plaque further, trying to read it in a way which could lend credence to Fai's view.

Sakura looks up, equally as wide eyed and looking worried by the prospect of Fai lying to them.

"Are you sure, Fai-san, Mokona-san?" She asks them both.

"Definitely!" Mokona declares, hopping into the girl's hands, "Mokona-chan was there when they were alive! Mokona-chan saw them and they were big and red and had parties with cake and their friends!" The small creature invents, waving its arms as if it too was at a party and waving streamers.

"You're just lying still." Kurogane points out to Mokona, jabbing the creature in the head in warning.

"Noo! Mokona-chan was there! Mokona-chan saw this! It's one of Mokona's secret powers!" They declare self-importantly, puffing up its body and patting its chest.

"Well if Mokona-chan was there…" Muses Syaoran, still looking disturbed by the difference between whatever has been written about the bones and the things Fai and Mokona have said.

"I think that we should copy them and go and get some cake too!" Fai says, sweeping his partner in crime out of Sakura's hands and marching off already in the direction of the smell of food.

"Ah- we've only been here a few minutes!" Syaoran says, holding out a hand, distressed at the thought of having to tear himself away from his learning as Sakura follows after the tall man obediently, chatting happily.

Kurogane lays a hand on his shoulder, heavy.

"You'll be able to have a better look around when neither of them are trying to make excuses to get food." He tells the boy who nods, dejectedly.

"It's just. There's so much to learn." He says, staring at the room around them wistfully.

"And it'll still be here later, kid. Come on, let's get there before the mage and the meatbun order for me again." The man says, gently guiding Syaoran away from the room full of bones.

Kurogane couldn't really understand the attraction but if it kept everyone entertained for the day he was willing to stand around and make sure none of them, Fai and Mokona excepted, got into the minor trouble they might end up in.
