Writer's Note:
Throughout the fictional media multiverse, there are characters who are known to be very strong and powerful, but none have been as powerful as SEGA's Knuckles the Echidna and MARVEL's Juggernaut. Pit these two against one another and you got one crazy battle, a fight that not even one of them could possibly survive. Get ready, folks!
SEGA owns Knuckles and Marvel owns Juggernaut, enjoy!
Central City, the capital of the United Federation and one of the most important cities on the planet. It was usually a very peaceful place; however, this city was one of the many places that had come under attack by alien forces during the Black Arms invasion several months prior.
Now, with the enemy aliens defeated, life was back to normal and the city's inhabitants were living in peace again. Given that only a small half of the city had been demolished during the Black Arms Invasion, this made rebuilding Central City easier.
After dealing with an alien invasion, people were hoping that everything would stay peaceful for a long time. If only they'd known what was going to happen soon…
One peaceful day, Central City was thrumming with life as people went to work and lived their peaceful lives. Cars drove down the road, street lights flashed red and green while horns honked and dogs barked randomly.
Everything was in harmony, until the peace was disturbed. The ground started shaking, pavement cracked and shuddered, metal crashed and horns honked wildly. Glass shattered, street lamps fell and people cried out in terror.
Someone let out a war cry, an explosion went off and a fuel truck went flying through the air before smashing into a gas station and exploding. Civilians screamed and took cover, trembling in fear as the source of the chaos appeared.
Muscular, tall and intimidating, clad in a helmet and armor, both of which only exposed his eyes, mouth and beefy arms, the legendary Juggernaut was on the loose. Countless people had heard stories of him, a handful had hoped he wasn't real. But now, the legend was here.
Somewhere nearby, Knuckles the Echidna was away from his island, enjoying the peaceful fresh air. When he heard the chaotic commotion, the red echidna was confused and wondered what was going on. Hoping to get answers, Knuckles started climbing the side of a building.
He made his way up to the highest of rooftops and saw cars flying, the red echidna grabbed some binoculars and looked down at the streets below. It was then that Knuckles spotted the one who'd ruined the peace and was causing all of this chaos; The Juggernaut!
'Very interesting.' The red echidna thought, putting away his binoculars. "This looks like a job for the guardian of the Master Emerald," He said aloud, "I've found a worthy opponent, it's been a while since I had a fight with a strong foe. Its go time, let's get this guy!"
Feeling brave and confident as usual, Knuckles jumped off the roof and glided down towards the scene below. While he never even heard of the burly individual, Knuckles hoped this would be a memorable fight, that guy looked tough compared to Sonic, Rouge or the likes of Eggman.
Knuckles observed the huge city invader and noticed that, with every step he took, the big brute showed no signs of slowing down and stopping. Perhaps the big guy was one of those powerful fighters who happened to be so fast, he couldn't stop until something made him stop.
'Action time!" The echidna thought to himself with a smirk, "HAAAAAAAAA-YAH!" He sped up his gliding, dove down towards the streets and plowed right into the big guy's back so hard, it caused Knuckles' new rival to fall over.
"Take that!" The echidna brawler taunted as he landed, mocking the humanoid Juggernaut. He looked around, seeing that nobody was here to watch the looming fight. That didn't matter, if anybody was too frightened of the big guy to see a fight, that was fine the way it was.
"Urgh!" The Juggernaut rose to his feet, growling angrily and feeling humiliated. The menacing powerhouse glared at the red humanoid echidna standing before him, eyes blazing with anger. He would not be humiliated like this, nobody humiliated Juggernaut, ever!
"Ready for more punishment, ya big bastard?" Knuckles asked, punching a fist into his hand.
"What the hell?!" Juggernaut snarled, his accent was British, "Do you know who I am, mate?"
"A trouble-maker who needs to be stopped; your name doesn't matter."
"'Doesn't matter'? I'M THE JUGGERNAUT, BITCH!"
Knuckles took off his left glove and gave Juggernaut the middle finger before putting his glove back on, "The Juggernaut, huh? Well, sorry to ruin your day, but it's time for Knuckles the Echidna to whoop your ass. So, bring it on, Juggernaut."
"I'm gonna beat the fuck out of ya and turn yer hide into a bloody fur speedo. Before this is over, you'll be begging for me to stop hitting you. You will regret the day you tripped me up and humiliated me, you damn little mutant anteater."
No other words had to be exchanged between the two powerhouses, it was time to fight. Since Knuckles had been the one to attack first, it was Juggernaut's turn. The towering humanoid lunged towards the red echidna, ready to pummel him to the ground.
The red fighter saw it coming and leaped out of the way, before Juggernaut could wheel around, Knuckles attacked from the side and punched him in the leg. The massive fighter stumbled and nearly fell over, completely surprised by the attack.
Juggernaut recovered in seconds and looked at Knuckles with blazing fury, he punched the ground and sent out a shockwave that made the tough echidna fall on his back. "RAHR!" The beast-like mutant yelled and dived towards his foe, seeking to smash him under his weight.
"Whoa!" Knuckles rolled out of the way and shot to his feet right, the red echidna curled up into a ball and launched a spin dash attack in an attempt to trip his humanoid enemy. Juggernaut blocked with his hands, picked up Knuckles and threw him several feet through the air.
Knuckles was shocked by his nemesis' throwing skills, but right before he smacked into a lamp post, the echidna used the air to his advantage and glided back towards Juggernaut, who ripped a nearby street lamp out of the ground with his full strength!
"INCOMING!" Juggernaut declared and swung the lamp like a weapon, Knuckles grabbed the other end of the pole and ran across it towards Juggernaut's head before punching him in the face. The big beast-like humanoid fell over, almost phased by the force of the attack.
"HIYAH!" The echidna pounced and started to punch away at Juggernaut, trying to beat him into submission until the hulking huge warrior pushed Knuckles off him and smashed the echidna into a crater in the street with so much strength, Juggernaut seemed to bruise him.
"Ow!" Knuckles moaned.
"How do ya think I feel, bugger?" Juggernaut taunted, "That'll make you..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Knuckles sat up and punched Juggernaut with enough force to send him flying. The red echidna rose out of the crater, packing a bleeding nose and a few bruises on his head and shoulders, but still eager to keep fighting.
"We're far from finished, butthead." The echidna boldly declared to his humongous foe, who'd flown several feet in the air and landed back in the street six meters away from Knuckles.
"Is that so?" Juggernaut quipped, "PREPARE TO BE DISMEMBERED AND SKINNED UNTIL YOU'RE NOTHIN' MORE THAN A BLEEDIN' HAIRLESS CARCASS!"
"Not happenin', ya oversized Wally. You're about to keep learnin' why they call me Knuckles and why I'm not the kind of guy who chuckles."
Dark clouds filled the sky and lightning flashed overhead, Juggernaut flexed his muscles and howled a loud war cry as a lightning bolt struck him, seemingly granting him more strength. A glowing aura surrounded Juggernaut and he let out a roar that shook the earth itself.
'Whoa, this guy is one tough fighter.' Knuckles thought, he felt a warm sensation in himself and closed his eyes. The echidna could feel his strong connection to the Master Emerald was growing with each passing minute, he felt himself getting stronger too. And then...
KER-SKYEW! Knuckles transformed into Hyper Knuckles; his fur color was glowing pink as a golden aura encircled him. Who cared if only hedgehogs could go super with the power of the Chaos Emeralds? Knuckles was special just like Sonic, he could have a super form too.
'The servers are the Seven Chaos.' Tikal's voice echoed in his mind, 'Chaos is power, power enriched by the heart, the controller exists to unify the seven Chaos.' Hearing those very words filled the tough-as-leather echidna with more confidence, Knuckles knew he could do this.
Filled with determination, the pink-red echidna looked at the super-charged Juggernaut, whose eyes were glowing blue with energy. Electricity crackled all around the mutant and he clenched his fist, radiating with strength and anger as it all coursed through him.
Both powerhouses faced each other down, western showdown style, it almost felt like a Mexican standoff even though they weren't pointing guns at each other. Hyper Knuckles clenched his fists and cracked a confident smile, knowing he could beat this bastard.
Juggernaut made his move, he let out a bellow and charged towards the super-powered echidna, Knuckles was ready for the final round too. With all of his enhanced strength that he had, Knuckles flew towards the Juggernaut with his fists outstretched, Superman style.
His eyes were glowing blue as Sonic's fur, the super aura surrounding Knuckles glowed brighter and more radiantly. He remained calm, letting his determination guide him. Juggernaut picked up speed, running faster than ever, and his fists started swinging like wrecking balls.
The distance closed between the two enemies and the lightning flashes intensified, more thunder rumbled in the sky above and the ground shook under the mutant Juggernaut's feet. Knuckles let out a war cry, his gliding speed increased and right as the gap closed...
BOOM! Hyper Knuckles struck Juggernaut first and hit him so hard, the big guy's helmet shattered and the enhanced humanoid fell over on his back, almost helpless as Knuckles punched him again, giving Juggernaut a black eye and a bleeding nose.
POW! Knuckles slugged his enemy in the jaw, dazing him. Then he picked up Juggernaut with all of his might and carried him as he flew into the sky with him. Knuckles groaned as he carried his very huge nemesis with effort all the way through the clouds and high above the city.
Rad red's adrenaline was completely through the roof, he was getting stronger by the second and so much energy was pulsating into Knuckles' heart. Up and up he flew, carrying Juggernaut into the depths of space, high above the surface of the Earth.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHH!" The powerful mutant cried, he felt himself freezing up, "WHAT ARE YEH DOIN', YOU BIG RED MOTHERFU...?" Juggernaut's curse was cut short as he froze, falling completely silent and unable to move any longer for the time being.
Knuckles smirked, knowing that the battle was at its end, and threw Juggernaut down towards the planet, watching as his somewhat mortal enemy fell towards the surface. As he entered Earth's gravitational pull, Juggernaut was surrounded by flames and his body began to burn.
Seeing this, Hyper Knuckles dived down towards the planet and towards the falling Juggernaut. His flight picked up speed, the Master Emerald's power protecting the red echidna from burning up as well. He broke through the clouds, slowly catching up to the big beast man.
Knuckles thrust out with his fist and yelled out another battle cry, Juggernaut's body was getting closer and closer, showing no signs of activity. "HAAAAA-YAAAAAH!" The echidna howled and smacked Juggernaut so hard, it seemed to break his entire being completely.
BOOM! The Juggernaut's limp body crashed into the ground in a countryside and an explosion went up around him. As the dust cleared, Knuckles landed and looked down at his defeated enemy. Juggernaut lay there, motionless, with only a few traces of blood. The battle was over!
"Man, that was tough!" The red echidna commented as his super form powered down and he transformed back into regular Knuckles, "Thanks for keeping this interesting, Juggernaut. Hopefully, you'll get plenty of rest and think twice before you attack a city."
With that, the echidna left the area and headed back to his home island to rest and continue guarding the Master Emerald. In the crater below, Juggernaut groaned in pain and opened his eyes, confused. Then he closed his eyes again and lay there as his body began to heal itself.
Somewhere else, a dark hedgehog stood upon the roof of a building, silently watching a black-leather clad man with a flaming skull riding around on a motorcycle and causing trouble. The hedgehog smirked, knowing that the encounter to come would be very, very interesting...
