Skyrunners Alternative Ending
Chapter 1
Tyler groaned slightly as he rolled over the pounding in his head intensifying with the slight movement.
"Where am I?" he wondered looking around the dark and foreboding cell, the walls that of cold stone. He sat up slowly in the fight with Agent Armstrong coming back to him as he regained consciousness.
Pulling himself slowly to his feet he did a quick check and was relieved to acknowledge that he seemed to be for the most part unharmed.
Alone but unharmed.
Freaking out a little but unharmed.
Walking toward the see-through door to his cage he peered around, taking in the presence of his terrifying captor.
"What do you want from me?" we asked, the reckless question earned no response as the terrifying alien went about its work paying no mind to its prisoner.
Time passed slowly as he fought to keep his wits about him, but the small space started to get to the fourteen year old. He'd had a claustrophobia for years and although fighting to keep his composure it was slowly slipping through his fingers.
Nick will come, he thought to himself hopeful. He always has, when it really matters he's always been there for me...this is no different. Any minute now, he's sure to have noticed I'm gone by now. He'll come...he always does.
After discovering the disgusting contents his captors had deemed food he grew desperate, throwing himself at the glass, banghing loudly and yelling for help, pleading to be realised. He scratched at the door, through his shoulder against the unforgiving glass, he fought until it became too much and with a sob collapsed onto the floor.
The glass, it had claw marks on it, left most likely from the last desperate prisoner they had locked in here.
"Seems I'm not your first guest" he laughed humorously, hugging his knees to his chest.
"Where are you Nick?"
Nick ran into the garage calling for his little brother.
Why had he gone to that party? Sure he seemed to have a pretty fair chance at his long time crush but usually he'd never let any girl drag him away from his baby brother, not when it really mattered.
Something was wrong, he could feel it. When Ty showed up frazzled and worried he knew it was deeper than it being just about his silly Pirate Play, but he'd been too focused on getting with the girl of his dreams to really focus on what his brother was saying.
For some reason, Daryl's words had been like a slap to the face and a punch to the stomach, seriously. It was then with Julie worrying and fussing over him after Daryl's harsh words about his brother that it really hit him.
When it really came down to it, he knew where he needed to be and it wasn't at the party with Julie. He hated having to stand her up again. But he needed to check on his brother.
"Tyler" he called again as he entered further into the secret hiding place where they had stashed the UFO earlier that week.
"Tyler bro, I'm sorry for being such a jerk this week, but I'm here now buddy" he continued to look around for his brother. He saw his brother's jacket and pirate bandana lying on the chair.
But where was the UFO? He walked forward slowly feeling around with his hands outstretched in case it was cloaked again.
Okay, this was getting weird.
He walked around the majority of the indoor space feeling for the UFO and calling for his brother, but there was no sign of him or the ship.
"Okay Tyler Jokes over, come on out now" he was met with silence. "I'm serious, you're really starting to freak me out!" More silence. Nerves beginning to really get to the older boy. "This really isn't funny Tyler!"
Suddenly the tip of his shoe sent something skidding across the floor, he bent down and picked up a pair of familiar sunglasses. Nick paled.
They make people disappear, the words from that reporter run through Nick's head as dred sets in.
"No" comes out as a whisper "No!"
He runs a shaky hand through his hair. They have his brother they must! This must be what his brother was talking about when he came to him at the party. Didn't he say something about a monster, or an alien? It doesn't matter. His brother is gone.
And..
They must have the UFO too, and that's why it's not here. Agent Armstrong or who over he is, found the spaceship and took it and his brother into custody and
Shit!
He needed to find his brother.
But how? If the spaceship was still here he could ask it to track his brother, but it wasn't. Cause why would an organization so determined to find this ship leave it here after they found it?
Did he tell his mom?
Oh no, he needed to tell his Mom.
He groaned, hands over his face as he sunk to the floor.
There was no other choice, he had to tell her now. HIding the ship and Tyler's weird puberty was one thing, but this? His mom would definitely notice Ty's absence!
He groaned.
But she would know what to do. She was an adult. Mom would have a plan. She'd held them all together after dad died and..
A sob broke from Nick's lips as tears started to fall. He wouldn't be able to bear it if he lost Ty. He'd already lost their father, and their small family was never the same after that. Ty was his baby brother, his best friend he wouldn't know what he would do without him!
"Where are you Ty?"
Why would Agent Armstrong leave the UFO there? Even if it was broken it was valuable and evidently the only potential threat to him and his 'agency', why would he leave it there?!
I mean it worked out really well for the plot, it enabled Nick to find his brother, a feat that without the ship would be a much more monumental feat. So just for the sake of fanfiction and also because I'm facing a writer's block so I decided to write this. It will probably never make it onto fanfic, but that's okay :) It's super late anyway and this late night ramblings on my new computer won't make much sense anyway.
