Summary: Max is one of the Winged. As far as she knows, she's the only one left. Which is why when she gets kidnapped, it's vital that she stays alive. She needs to find another Winged and escape her prison, but how can she do that when her prison guard won't let her out of his sight?

This first chapter will explain what a Winged is so you guys have a better understanding of the plotline and what is going on. Well, at least I hope it helps…

Chapter One: What is a Winged?

The Legend of the Aura and Aither

There were two gods of air and the Sky. Aura "The Soft Breeze of the Earth and Sky" and Aither "The Air Spirit".

Aura was the most beautiful goddess who ever roamed the Earth. Her hair was the color of the sun and breezy like a sunny autumn day. Her eyes were the color of the sky. Her skin was as soft as silk. She wore the cleanest white you have ever seen. She was gifted with the purest white wings that ever existed.

Aither was quite different from any other god. His hair was the color of the clouds. His eyes a pale blue but he had the sharpest vision. His skin was a palish white but as smooth as chocolate. He wore a pale blue robe that shone brightly when the wind roared loudly. He was given slick white wings that flew lightly during the thickest of storms.

Aura had a short-temper while Aither was the calmest even during the most traumatizing situations. Aura was disobedient to her elders and superiors while Aither was to accomplish even the harshest of takes. Aura was loud and boisterous while Aither was silent and controlled. Aura was a fighter while Aither stayed in the background and never stood up for anything he believed in.

Aura was the daughter of the goddess of the Wind while Aither was the son of the guard of gods. He was deemed god even if he was just a guard himself.

Aura and Aither had a unique bond since birth. They grew up together and were inseparable. After years and years of their friendship growing, they didn't realize they were falling in love with each other. But the problem is, their love is forbidden.

The Forbidden Love

By the time Aura and Aither were teenagers, they realized their love for each other. They began seeing each other in secret at a certain spot on Earth. It was high up on a cliff along the coast overlooking miles of sea. At the right time, at that spot, when Aura and Aither share a kiss at sunset, they become human for a few hours. As humans, they ventured into the nearest town and were free from the eyes of the gods.

But soon, the gods found out and punished Aura and Aither. They sent them to live on Earth as humans. They were separated and never saw each other again. They were devastated and heartbroken. They began to close in on themselves and soon, they changed the fate of their kind.

The Winged Become Part of the Earthen Beings

As the gods watched Aura and Aither live new lives as humans, they began to become jealous as the two kids had the freedom to do whatever they wanted. They could taste food, explore the Earth's unknowns, see a sunset, see the stars, and have no expectations.

The gods wanted to live a life as a human. They all went to the very spot Aura and Aither found and turned themselves into humans. Relishing the feel of freedom, they spread their wings and began living life with the humans.

At first, the humans were frightened of the new humans with angelic wings. But soon, they accepted the new humans. Quickly, the Winged population began to grow. But, it ended as quickly as it formed.

The Age of Evils

One hundred years after the winged gods became humans, a powerful group of destroyers rose to power. They wanted to destroy the Winged. They were scared of what the Winged could do to the human population. But that wasn't the real reason. They wanted to use the Winged. Experiment on them for their own purposes.

They started hunting down the kids first. One by one, the Winged kids were kidnapped. Experimented on then killed. Next were the teenagers. They were gone within two years. Then the adults and seniors. Soon, the only Winged who were left were those in hiding but they didn't last long either. The humans themselves, started turning on the Winged and exposing those in hiding. Soon, Aither and Aura and their different families were the only ones left in hiding.

At one point in time, the Winged were praised and worshipped. But now, they are nonexistent to the humans and only known to the people wanting to kill them.
