A/N: Ok so this fanfic was inspired by SnarryForever124 fanfic on the X-Men reacting to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and that got me motivated to make my own version of this viewing. Since there are a few Wolverine/Logan memory watching fics out there and I'm itching to do one. So I message SnarryForever124 to do my own, and that I don't want to get called out for "Stealing" his/her idea and got crucified by people who seen his fanfic (Which you should go check out). I have been granted permission by him/her to do so and I'm excited.
So before we could start, I'm going to mention two things.
Thank you for SnarryForever124 for granting me permission to do this. I'm not the type of person to steal another person's idea and make it my own, since I don't have the consciousness to do so and afraid that there will be a mob on my ass if I did that.
Second, when I was thinking and rewatching the movie, I suddenly remembered that there was a game version of the movie. Which I heard to a lot of people that it was way better than the movie adaptation. And I happened to agree. I played the game and had fun playing as Logan and the fight are awesome as did the story. But I still want to do the movie version and it got me an idea. I thought, why not do both? Like merge the movie and game together since it is practically the same story but from a different angle.
To do this, I'm going to merge the cutscenes from the game and try to piece it into the movie and vice versa. But also I will add some extra scenes, such as fight, continuity, and texts to merge them into one. While Also trying to be careful to know where to switch from game to movie.
I know that this would be a challenge to do, but hey, where's the fun if you can't be challenged by it?
Anyway, let's get to the story!
Third POV
'Ok what is this meeting about, professor?" A person wearing a pair of ruby-red sun-glasses. A pair of brown pants as he was wearing a sweater that was Scott Summers. The leader of the mutant group called "The X-men".
Which would be a good name for those Seven Evil Exes from Scott Pilgrim if you think about it.
Anyway, he wasn't the only one who was wondering why they were being called to the professor's office. On the back there was Rogue, Kurt, Kitty Pryde, Gambit, Storm, Bobby, Beast/Hank, and Jubilee. All had received a physic message from Xavier to come to his office for an urgent meeting. They remembered in the professor's tone that he wasn't dealing with any bullshit and it made them wonder what it was that was so important that made Xavier have that mood. Once they arrived, they saw that the professor was staring down a wooden box.
The box itself was made out of burnished oak wood, with an old metal lining on the edge of the box, and a simple lock. On top of the box, it dawns a small logo of an animal: a wolverine, and a note tied to it.
They all remain silent for a few moments, waiting for Xavier to make a move but he never left his gaze on the box. They started to become worried as they saw he was in deep thought as he stared at the box, never making a sound or even movement even when they arrived in the office.
Finally, the professor broke his gaze from the box and leaned back on his chair. Giving a sigh as he looks at them.
"My apologies for taking you all from your activities in the school." Professor Xavier said as he move in front of the desk.
"It's ok professor." Jean said. "We were just wondering why you call us here. You said it was urgent?"
"Yes. A couple of days ago, I received a strange gift from an unknown individual." Xavier said, getting a raised eyebrow from Rogue.
"A package, professor?" Rogue questioned as she then looked at the box 'The box?"
"Precisely."
"What's so important about a box?" Jubilee said as she grabbed it and looked all over it. "I mean, it's just a regular box, nothing special."
"It could be just a package that one of us or the students must've ordered online." Kurt suggested, making some of the people there nod. Remembering that they sometimes bought stuff online, and are delivered here. Though it did take a bit of time for them to find a good post office that doesn't have an issue in going to the mansion without being discriminated against or feared.
"No. The post office was shut down due to what happened with the Brotherhood, and the box has no address from where or who it came from." Xavier said. "So far the only piece that I saw is the note attached to it. That is why I called you all in here."
The X-men look confused and look at the box, wondering what a useless little box is so important that it made the professor like this? HAving enough of the silence, kitty grabbed the note that it attached to the box. Her eyes glided from text-to-text and it was not long that it went wide as she looked at the rest.
"Um..guys, I think you should see this." Kitty said as she went to read it out loud.
Dear: Professor Xavier and the X-men...and women.
So if you're reading this, you must be wondering what is in the box that makes it so special, right? Well, allow me to clarify things up for a bit. What's inside that box is holding something precious to a certain feral mutant that isn't there right now. Something that he seeks from time and time again, but with no progress whatsoever.
I think you guys know what I'm talking about.
If you want more, then open the box, it is relatively harmless so don't expect it from your enemies any time soon.
From: An unknown individual
After that the mutants were wide eyed as they quickly figured out what the note meant.
This box held Logan's memories.
But that is impossible. How can a simple box contain something that they worked so hard to find. Something that Logan has desperately searched for years to no end.
"This-this is gotta be a joke right?" Scott said as he looked at the box. "There is no way on earth that this contains his memories."
The rest nodded in agreement as they thought it was a joke. I mean, how can you have someone's memories that were so hard to track.
"I thought the same thing, Scott." Xavier said. "That is why I have been contemplating on what to do with the information. I haven't opened the box, thinking it might be a lie."
"But, professor, what if it is true?" Rogue said. "What if it contains Logan's memories, then he would be happy that he will get to know who he was."
"I know, but haven't told Logan about it, not yet at least." Xavier said.
"What why?" Jubilee said as she was a bit outraged at Charles's decision.
"Even if it was his memories, there could be a chance that it could even be a false memory. Remember that his entire skeleton was coated with Adamantium, a procedure that would have killed him if it weren't for his healing factor." Charles said as he remembered the files of humans experimenting on mutants a long time ago. And the fact that Logan is one of the victims that has suffered in it makes him even more uncertain.
"Speaking of which, where is Logan?" Bobby asked.
"He left and went back to Canada." Beast said, causing them to sigh. Wondering what they would do now. The possibilities of the content being Logan's memories are good. They can find out who he was before meeting them, especially the man himself. But at the same time, it was all too good to be true and agreed with the professor's comment on it being fales.
So after a few moments, Rogue grabs the box, getting the attentioned of the rest.
"Rogue, what are you doing?" Storm asked.
"Sitting here will not get us anywhere." Rogue said "The only way for us to find out if its true is to see it ourselves." She said as she opened the box.
'Hey wai-" Scott said, but was caught off guard as a large flashes of light illuminated the room, blinding everyone before it died down, revealing that everyone had vanished.
Somewhere in the mansion
As the light went down, the X-Men quickly went to their fighting stance, getting ready for an attack. Only for them to realize that they are in the living room of the school.
But with one big difference.
The entire thing was black, grey and white. I'm not talking about the furniture or the walls, but ALL of it. Plants, the floor, the window frames and even the lights are black and white. It is as if it was some sort of old 40's commercial before it had color.
"What happened to the living room?" Storm wondered as they didn't let down their guard.
'More importantly, what did that box do to us?" Bobby said before looking at Rogue.
"Sorry…" she said sheepishly.
But before they could say anything else, they heard a loud snoring, causing them to jump and turned towards the source of the sound. What they found was a person laying down on the couch, his feet on the coffee table as his head was bent backward on the headrest. The person was no older than 18 years old, wearing a pair of jeans, brown shoes, a plain black shirt and a pure white hooded vest with grey lining. His faded short hair was raised up a bit as the others saw that he was wearing a leather necklace of a demonic hand holding an emerald gem.
The rest of the X-men look at the individual with bewilderment and caution. They can not let their guard down if this person becomes hostile or is an enemy.
"Jean." Scott said.
"On it." Jean said as she went in and used her powers to read the mind of the young teen. She tried to search for anything, but surprisingly the kid's mind is just pure white! Like no imagination, dreams, or thoughts whatsoever.
But before she could go any further, she was then forcibly kicked out from the mind, knocking her back in her physical and then to the floor.
"JEAN!" Scott yelled as Kurt and Kitty helped her back up as she grabbed her head.
"You OK?" Rogue asked, getting a nod from the redhead.
"You know, it's not nice to poke on a sleeping person's head without their permission, eh?" The boy said getting the X-men step back as they saw him stand up and stretched.
"Who are you!?" Bobby demanded, but the boy just ignored him and continued stretching.
"Man, and here I thought that you guys would arrive sooner. Ever since I sent that package to the school, I thought that you will hold a meeting sooner. Boy was I wrong." The boy groans as he pops a few bones on his neck, knuckles, and spine.
"So it was you who sent the box claiming to have Logan's memories?" Charles said as he made his way through the group.
"Professor." Storm tried to warn him, but Xavier just gently raised his hand, stopping her sentence.
"Yeah, I was the one, and boy did you take your sweet-ass time getting here. I was beginning to regret doing this at first ." The boy said as he removes his vest and shake off the excess dust before putting it back on.
"OK, so to get things straight, I bet you all have questions that are floating in your minds and let me first start off with a short introduction." The boy said as he saw that "Names Shadow."
There was an awkward silence that consumed the room, making the rest wait for the rest of the introduction.
"...That is it" Shadow finished getting face faults, a look of disbeliefs, shock, and outrage.
"What…?" Rogue said
"He only gave us his name…" Kurt said, getting nods from the rest as Shadow just released a chuckle.
"Sorry, don't want to waste any more time than I already did." shadow said, causing the rest to be even more dumbfounded at his behaviour. They went a couple of more second of silence before Jubilee broke it.
"What did you do to us, and what happened to the living room?" Jubilee said as she looked around the room.
"Alright, so the place you're in is not the living room of the mansion." Shadow stated, gaining raised eyebrows.
"But this is the living room. Gambit is no moron." Gambit said.
"Well it LOOKS like your living room, but trust me it's not." Shadow said. "Where you guys are in, you're in what we call the 'the other side' or the 'Viewing world', which means you're NOT DEAD." Shadow said as he added more weight on the last two word on his sentence when he saw the panic came from Jubilee, Rogue, Bobby, and Kurt.
"Wait, 'We'? " Scott asked as he raised an eyebrow as he caught the word when Shadow said his sentence.
"Well there is no way to avoid this question, huh?" Shadow sighs as he pops the joint on his fingers. "When I meant by 'We', I meant that I'm a god of some sorts."
The bomb was dropped as they looked at him with disbelief and shock. A god? This guy that is no older than eighteen is a fucking god? Now the X-men have their fair share of powerful enemies. Magneto, Galactus, Apocalypse and a lot more powerful mutants and occasional special cases from tiger the Avenger or other heroes.
So far the only thing that they face that is similar to that of a god is the Phoenix Force. A cosmic entity that was so powerful that it could make anyone similar to that of a god.
(A/N: Ok, so I'm going to come clean here at this part. I'm not that much of a comic book fan than I Am a movie fan when I watch superhero movies. But that doesn't mean that I don't read comics from time to time and often find some storylines on the net. So if any of you guys are comic fans of the X-men, please forgive me for the misconception of the characters and if I butchered the power scaling on this fic.)
But to have a real life god in front of them? That was a bit difficult to believe.
Shadow saw their reluctance to believe his word, which he had expected from the start, before sighing and snapping his fingers and soon the whole room started to morph into a Beach, then Las Vegas, then the statue of Liberty, and finally back to the living room which is now full color.
But Shadow wasn't done yet as he then made a finger-gun and aimed it at charles. A little beam of light shot from his fingers and towards the telepathic professor, which caused panic from his allies, but when the light died down, he was then standing by his legs, shocking the students and himself.
But the last piece was when Shadow snapped his fingers again and the room started to spin and soon they were back at the mansion, but it was all old and abandoned. This shocked them to their core as they wondered what happened. Then they saw several giant human-like machines that towered over them as an initial feeling of fear and dread came to the mutants as the giant machines bent down and searched the empty halls of the school.
The mutants tense up as they see that their gaze went towards them, but not the teenage boy, who had the look of boredom. Then miraculously, the robot just lifts its head and left.
Shadow just sighs again as he then claps his hands and everything went back to how they saw it before.
"Now you guys believe me?" Shadow said "Where we're in, is my domain. I can control anything and anyone here as much as I like. What you guys just saw is just a VERY small fraction of what I can do."
"What were those things?" Kitty said as he looked at Shadow, wanting to know what those machines were.
"Sentinels." Xavier stated. "Robotic machines that are capable of eradicating all mutant kings. It was made by a man named Dr. Bolivar Trask back in the 70's. But was canceled due to the project's excessive fund which brought the company to bankruptcy. Bringing the program to a halt." Xavier finished, gaining a look of relief from the rest of the X-men, but he kept a mental note that even though the program was on hold, there is a possibility that the government would keep the program under wraps, just in case that they felt that mutants were too dangerous.
Neither of which Xavier wanted. Mutants hurting humans, hence proving their fear right that they were just power hungry freaks that they desperately wanted to avoid, or the government hurting mutants and creating weapons to kill them. Or worse… weaponizing THEM. Neither of which Charles wanted to happen.
The tension between both races are already thin enough as it is, and he doesn't want a war to happen any time soon.
"Yep, those big bad robots are mutant-killing machines that would stop at nothing until you're all dead. But luckily for you guys, you don't have to face them for a long time. " Shadow said, reassuring them further.
"Thank God." Rogue sigh
"What a relief." Kurt said.
"Yep." Shadow said as he flopped on the couch and turned on Netflix and started watching "The Fresh Prince" and lay there to relax, giving time for the X-men to contemplate on what situation they were in.
First of all they were sucked into a room from a box that claims to contain Logan's memories, they met a kid, who has effortlessly convinced them that he is, in fact, a god. Being dragged here for who knows what reason, and they have no idea how to get back.
"Why have you brought us here, Shadow?" Xavier said and looked at the boy. Shadow looks from the screen and onto the professor and smiles a bit at him.
"Simple, I wanted to show you guys Logan's past. Before he met you or any of you guys, before he was even called 'Wolverine'. Basically, you will be seeing his memories of his past and how he lost them." Shadow said, as he went back to the TV.
"Wait a second, shouldn't Wolvie be here to see them?" Jubilee said as she gave Shadow a hard look. "Their his memories after all."
"Yeah, Logan has every right to know who he was before he lost it." Rogue came next as she gave Shadow a look. "He has been searching non-stop for them, and now he had a chance to finally know who he was. So why isn't he here with us and just why us?"
At this Shadows stops his searching and looks at the southern bell gal and the rest of the X-men. The smile and casual look was now gone as he gave them a serious expression. He remained silent for a few seconds, before sighing.
"You're right. Logan DOES deserve to know who he was before, the only one who really deserved to know it than any of you." Shadow admitted. "But there are things that you need to take into account. First off, His memories….they're something else."
"What do you mean?" Storm asked.
"What I mean is, his memories of who he was are not pretty. And him seeing those memories would only hurt him more than he already is rather than giving him closure. Especially when it was forced onto him all at once."
"Are his memories that bad?" Jean asked in a worried tone, causing Shadow to nod.
"That is another factor on why I didn't bring Logan here to see it. Despite him deserving to know his past, I'm afraid that this would seriously mess up his mental state and given that he also has 'Wolverine' inside of him along with the fact that he also has a hair-lined trigger on his emotions, which would overwhelm him not just psychologically but emotionally too." Shadow said as he faced the mutant group. "That is why I brought you here to see them. Since you guys are a lot more level headed than Logan is, you guys would be able to help him even further than you used to."
'How so?" Hank asked
"After you guys have seen his memories, I will give you the keys to access Logan's mind which would give you guys the ability to give him the memories that you've seen in here. But be careful, a lot of these hold traumatic experiences that would overload his brain. So you game?" Shadow said his reason for why he is doing it, well, partially that is.
Which didn't go as well as he had hoped as he saw Cyclops go forward.
"Is there another reason why you're doing this?" Scott asked, sensing other intentions on the kids' reason.
"Well, well, good job." Shadow chuckled as he looked at the leader. "Actually, yeah I do. Other than helping your alcohol-drinking, claw-healing, mutant that is flirting with your girl, I want to see your guy's reaction to this since I'm just bored to the fucking core." Shadow admitted truthfully, as he gave a smirk to Scott.
"Wait, hold on for a sec, you mean to tell us that you brought us here just for your entertainment?" Kitty asked, as she looked a bit pissed off and in disbelief.
"Partially, but yeah." Shadow shrugs off. "But I'm not lying when I said that I wanted Logan to have his memories back, the poor bastard deserves to have 'em."
"Then why would you want to see our reactions to his past?" Jean asked him, causing him to smirk at her.
"Because it's fun to see people's reaction when they see something that brings out a certain emotion in them." Shadow said almost cheekily before reverting back to his casual demeanor and looking back at the Tv. Giving a short sigh as he watches.
"When you're a God with nothing to do than sit in an empty domain, you tend to find some entertainment on some particular things. Mine is people's reaction to something, which in this case, you guys are reacting to Logan's memories." Shadow said as he watched the scene where Will and Carlton are in jail and Bob is singing.
The room becomes silent after Shadow's response, all except the sound coming from the television of the show Shadow is watching. They just look at each other, just thinking about their options.
And to be quite honest with themselves, they have no idea what to do. I mean, how can you respond to a person who happened to be a god, who also gave a box that sucked them into the 'The Other Side' oh so he put it and wanted to make them watch Logan's memories and their reaction for the sake of his entertainment?
Ok now given the fact that shadow did mention on the part he wanted to help Logan to regain his memories is there, but they have a distinct feeling that the reason they are here is that it's leaning a bit further to his personal reason. But nonetheless, they don't have a choice. If this contains Logan's memories, then they have a chance to finally give him closure. But Shadow's words about it doing more harm than good made them a bit reluctant, but there was also a fact that Shadow won't let them go if they didn't agree to it.
So with nothing else to do, Rogue steps in and sits next to Shadow as the ravenette gives her a sideways glance.
"We accept." Rogue said, as the rest of the X-men take their respective seats.
"Good choice." Shadow said as he playfully flicked her head with his bare hand. Surprising the southern bell that she didn't feel that she absorbed anything from the host, causing him to smirk at her a bit.
"Your powers won't work on me, kid. So you don't have to worry." Shadow said as he then grabbed the remote, snapping his fingers as a variety of food and beverages appeared as did the room started to turn from blakc and white, to colored.
"Alright people, you're about to watch Wolverine's origin, so buckle up."
And with that, the Tv then started to flicker as the X-men saw the scene unfold.
A/N: So what do you guys think? Is this a good start or a bad one? IDK what's going on inside your heads, people. But anyway, that is it for this chapter and If you guys have anything to say about this, then don't be hesitant on leaving a review or criticism about this story.
I will be open to all types of criticism as long as they are straight to the point, respectful, and not offensive in any way whatsoever.
OK so that's about it then and I will see you guys in the next chapter!
