INTRO:

W: Water. It is a key source of all life and what we all need to survive.

B: But too much of that H20 can become pretty powerful, and these guys can use it to drown basically everything.

W: Chaos, Sonic The Hedgehog's god of destruction

B: And Kyogre, Pokemon's legendary creator of oceans. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

W: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!

CHAOS:

(The Past - Sonic Adventure)

W: A long time ago, seven powerful emeralds were created by the gods, but their power was too great to be contained, and many civilizations fought over it. Thus, the gods had to step in and forge a new eighth emerald with the power to render the other seven null and void. This...was the Master Emerald.

B: And one day, a cute species called the Chao called the Emerald Altar their home. But one of them, after prolonged exposure to the Master Emerald's energy, mutated into a monster that was also a blue blur's one weakness: Water!

W: This...was Chaos.

B: We'll be seeing the version canon to the games, and not the Chaosbot from the Sonic X comics, that awful Tikhaos fusion from the Archie Comics, that AWESOME fusion from the Sonic/Mega Man crossover, OR that weird alien fish from Sonic the Comic.

W: But despite the name, Chaos was not always a beast hellbent on revenge. Once, it used its power to protect its fellow Chao and the Master Emerald, guaranteeing clean waters around it. It and the Chao eventually befriended a peaceful Echidna girl called Tikal. But 4,000 years ago, everything changed.

B: Well, Tikal's dad, Chief Pachacamac, was the leader of an Echidna tribe known as the Knuckles Clan, who were fighting a brutal war with their rivals, the Nocturnus Clan. So, they decided to use the power of the Master Emerald to turn the tide of the war in their favor.

W: Tikal was the only one who was against the idea, but there was nothing she could do as her own people ransacked the Altar, with both herself and many Chao injured in the process. This was the tipping point for Chaos. Filed with bitter rage, it absorbed the negative power of the seven emeralds and became a powerful monster which wiped out the entire Knuckles Clan. But if left unchecked, its power would also destroy the world.

B: So, to stop her best friend, Tikal linked their consciousnesses together with a prayer and sealed them both within the Master Emerald, sacrificing herself in the process.

Popup: In the Archie Comics, Chaos was instead sealed within a black emerald called the Ancient Onyx.

W: Thus, the term 'Chaos Emeralds' was born. And thousands of years later, Chaos was freed by the devious menace known as Dr. Eggman when he shattered the Master Emerald.

(Vs Chaos 0 - Turret 3471)

B: Chaos is a beast, strong enough to be seen as a god! He's got super strength, hydrokinesis, enhanced durability and jumping, an excellent climber, glider, and swimmer (duh). Oh yeah, and he's also IMMORTAL!

W: But his most famous ability is the ability to absorb Chaos Emeralds, which Eggman planned to use to destroy Station Square and built Eggmanland on its ruins.

B: First off, Chaos starts as plain old Chaos 0, in which he can stretch his limbs, shapeshift, liquify to go down drains, freeze the air around his foes, regenerate, attack with ripples, and is even bulletproof!

Police Officer: Oh no! Our weapons are useless!

B: Yeah, duh. What did you THINK shooting a water monster would do? Too bad he got seriously nerfed in Sonic Forces. But when he absorbs one Chaos Emerald, he transforms into Chaos 1, which is basically Chaos 0, but stronger. Chaos 2 is when he absorbs 2 emeralds. In this form, he can turn into a ball, liquefy over a whole area, and even split into hundreds of balls. And he can also generate a force field. Chaos 4 is when it absorbs four emeralds and can levitate in the air. Chaos 6 is when he absorbs six emeralds, and can attack with tentacles and use a vacuum breath. And apparently there's no Chaos 3 and Chaos 5 because nothing goddamn happens if he absorbs only three and five emeralds.

W: But Chaos' most dangerous form is when it absorbs all seven Chaos Emeralds and transforms into the very monster that wiped out the Knuckles Clan: Perfect Chaos!

Perfect Chaos roars.

(Open Your Heart - Sonic Generations)

B: OH SHIT! Chaos just turned into water Biollante!

W: Perfect Chaos is several stories tall, big enough to emerge from the side of a skyscraper. He possesses energy projection, enhanced hydrokinesis, super strength, water mimicry, hydrokinetic shapeshifting, and of course, retains his immortality.

B: Perfect Chaos has unlimited power and energy. His hydrokinesis is supercharged to a level where he can flood an entire city, and he can also shoot energy bullets from the spikes on his back and even shoot a laser beam from his mouth that's strong enough to blow up the Egg Carrier 2!

W: Being made of liquid chaos energy, Perfect Chaos is nearly indestructible and can mimic the properties of water. It has complete control over its physical structure, allowing it limited shapeshifting, such as elongating its tentacles for greater range, changing its shape into liquid, and if dissipated, it can reconstitute itself again. Additionally, it can merge with the water around it, allowing it to become one with its floods. Due to its size, Perfect Chaos has enormous strength, destroying entire buildings with just one strike with its tentacles.

B: Perfect Chaos can also summon waterspouts and water tornadoes, but its weak spot is the same one he's got in his previous forms! His brain. HA! I KNEW that being too smart wasn't good for ya!

W: But to even get to it is easier said than done. Also, Chaos 6 was vulnerable to cold. However, since Chaos only absorbed the Chaos Emeralds' NEGATIVE energy, that meant that Sonic could still use the POSITIVE energy to transform into Super Sonic and easily defeat Perfect Chaos.

B: They also fought again when Sonic met his past self, but by then, he was SO strong that he didn't even NEED the Chaos Emeralds! And he managed to beat the thing BOTH times! Man, that's something coming from a hedgehog that can't even swim.

W: Due to his immortality, Chaos still managed to survive Super Sonic's onslaught, but was calmed down and vanished with the spirit of Tikal to watch over the Chao.

B: He also appeared in Sonic Battle where he fought Emerl, and was just a Phantom Replica in Sonic Forces...and that's about it.

W: Still, even though Chaos is now a neutral force that fights for peace and serenity, there's still a chance he could lose it again, and threaten to drown the world once more…

Sonic: Oh no, isn't that the same monster I saw the other day…

KYOGRE:

(Main Theme - Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire)

W: Within Pokemon legend, there speaks of a Legendary Water-Type Pokemon that created and expanded the seas themselves. A powerful beast that was strong enough to rival the powerful colossus that was Groudon.

B: A massive blue whale that can NEVER go thirsty!

W: This...was Kyogre. The King of the Seas. It is named in mythology as the Pokémon that expanded the sea by covering the land with torrential rains and towering tidal waves. It saved people that were suffering through droughts, brought heavy rains, and is said to be the personification of the sea itself. It has clashed many times with Groudon, as each sought to gain the power of nature.

B: And after one hell of a giant monster fight, which nearly destroyed the planet, the two were caught and scolded by the dragon Rayquaza. Maybe it's their mom. Or dad. Well, for all I know, it got them to stop fighting.

W: After that cataclysmic battle, Kyogre fell asleep on a marine trench. And even though it's not a Flying type, it can still fly nonetheless. However, within the Hoenn Region, a criminal syndicate known as Team Aqua sought to reawaken Kyogre and use its power to expand the seas.

B: Gee, that sounds familiar. I wonder if this is gonna blow up in their faces…

W: It did. However, at the same time, Team Aqua failed to stop their rival, Team Magma, from reawakening Groudon to expand the land, thus inadvertently beginning their cataclysmic conflict once again and possibly dooming the world. Or, I guess their battle lived on through those two teams. WHY do people always seek to wield godlike power and tame super-strong beasts that they can't even control?! WHY?!

(Battle! Primal Groudon/Primal Kyogre - Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire)

B: Well, apocalyptic floods aside, Kyorge's no pushover. He has a lot of moves. Drizzle can make it rain, Hydro Pump is a powerful water attack, Water Pulse is some ultrasonic waves which confuses the foe, Aqua Tail is a swing of his tail, Aqua Ring envelops him in a healing veil of water, Muddy Water is an attack with said water type which lowers the foe's accuracy, Water Spout deals more damage the healthier Kyogre is, Rain Dance boost his move power, Scald has him shoot boiling water that burns enemies, Surf creates a huge wave which power is doubled underwater, Waterfall has him charge at foes at awesome speeds and can even climb waterfalls, and Origin Pulse has him let out a powerful pulse attack powered up by the Mega Launcher. Oh yeah, and even though he's not an Ice-Type Pokemon, he can still use Sheer Cold, which is basically a cold instant KO against any opponent that's not a higher level than it. But when Kyogre has the Blue Orb, he can undergo his very own Mega Evolution and, by Primal Reversion, return to his ancient and original form where he regains the true, ultimate power he once had. In this form, he becomes Primal Kyogre.

Primal Kyogre lets out a powerful roar.

W: In his Primal form, Kyogre is more than twice its usual size and has a deeper blue body, as well as having a partially translucent body with a golden light glowing from within it, essentially emitting bioluminescence. And of course, he is FAR stronger than before. Strong enough to match the power of even Primal Groudon, who he battled for 20 days and 20 nights, but is still outmatched by the power of Mega Rayquaza.

B: Oh great, he can still stop their battles in this new form. YOU KIDS STOP THAT RIGHT NOW, CAUSE YOU'RE DRIVING ME CRAZY AND DESTROYING EVERYTHING!

W: One of Primal Kyogre's most powerful moves is Primordial Sea, in which he can summon heavy rain and weaken Fire-Type Pokemon. He may have the highest base stat total, Special Attack, and Special Defense of all Water-Type Pokemon, and even though he is strong against Fire, Steel, Ice, Ground, and Rock-Type Pokemon, Kyogre isn't very effective against Dragon, Grass, Electric, and even other Water-Type Pokemon.

B: But it's also effective against Water-Type Pokemon as well! Which...kinda does and doesn't make sense…

W: But given the kind of power it possesses, and how many times it has clashed against its rival, Groudon, there's no denying how much of a threat Kyogre can be. One day, he may finally win against Groudon and cover 100% of the planet in water…

B; Welp, time to put on my swimming trunks and scuba diving gear.

Kyogre lets out its Cry once it emerges from a thrown Pokeball.

THE FIGHT:

W: Alright, the combatants are set! And we've run the data through all possibilities! Let's end this debate once and for all!

B: It's time for a DEATH BATTLLLLEEEEEEE!

(Primal Chaos - Brandon Yates)

Chaos flows out of a sewer pipe near a beach where the Chaos Emeralds and Blue Orb are on display in a museum. As Chaos approaches the exhibit, the weather turns to rain, and Kyogre, eager of its return to its true power, floods the city with a massive rainstorm. It spots Chaos, and assumes Chaos to be also after the Blue Orb, and attacks (while Chaos presumes likewise for the Emeralds).

DB Announcer: FIGHT!

Chaos 0 grabs Kyogre and swings him around before throwing him into a skyscraper before using his elasticity to leap onto another building. However, Kyogre at first gets the upper hand and slaps Chaos 0 with his tail, sending him flying into the water. Chaos swims and sees a floating Chaos Emerald in the water, so he grabs and absorbs it to become Chaos 1. He then leaps out of the water and sprays water at Kyogre, who retaliates with Scald, burning Chaos. Chaos then absorbs a second emerald and becomes Chaos 2. He blocks Kyogre's Hydro Pump with his force field and lands a solid blow, but Kyogre easily shrugs it off and unleashes Muddy Water which slows Chaos.

However, Chaos manages to absorb two more emeralds after liquifying himself to escape, and thus become Chaos 4. He then unleashes a powerful energy wave, which Kyogre counters with Origin Pulse and Water Pulse, stunning Chaos. Kyogre then slaps Chaos with both fins before creating a waterspout that sucks him in. Escaping, Chaos absorbs two more emeralds and becomes Chaos 6. He is able to hold his own against Kyogre even while underwater, but Kyogre eventually uses Sheer Cold to freeze and render Chaos 6 immobile, then smashes him into pieces with his tail. Kyogre then lets out a roar of victory, but after the seventh emerald is absorbed by a patch of water, he soon realizes that the sea is beginning to disobey his command.

Spotting the Blue Orb under the museum's submerged wreckage, Kyogre swims over to it while avoiding other debris and absorbs it, undergoing Primal Reversion just in time.

The planet is completely submerged in water, showcasing the destructive power at play.

And from the stormy surface of the new single ocean, Perfect Chaos and Primal Kyogre emerge and roar at each other, ready for the final round of their duel.

Perfect Chaos fires an energy blast from its mouth, but Primal Kyogre manages to dodge it and counters with Primordial Sea, but it's not very effective against Perfect Chaos.

Perfect Chaos lashes out with its water tentacles to slap Kyogre, then fires energy spikes from its back. Both wrestle for control over the seas, such as Perfect Chaos undoing a tsunami Primal Kyogre summons and Primal Kyogre easily destroying a waterspout Perfect Chaos summons.

The two then begin a clash with energy and powerful water beams, which ultimately cancels out. Finally, Primal Kyogre lets out a more powerful version of Sheer Cold, targeting Perfect Chaos' brain. However, as he slowly freezes up, Perfect Chaos lands a strong hit with his head to Primal Kyogre, which knocks out and destroys the Blue Orb.

Evolving back to its weaker form, Kyogre is swept up by a massive water tornado Perfect Chaos summoned, which is beyond its control. Perfect Chaos then freezes up as his brain shatters, then crumbles to pieces as Kyogre is blown to bits by the waterspout, which soon dies down.

The sea levels then lower to show the destructive damage the battle has caused…

THE AFTERMATH:

DB Announcer: KO!

B: Oh man! Talk about a washout!

W: To be fair, this was an EXTREMELY close call. Kyogre can control storms, but Chaos IS the storm and can manipulate it himself. And despite their powerful forms, Kyogre would revert back from his Primal Form if the Blue Orb was knocked out of him, and a stronger blast of ice to the brain would most certainly kill Perfect Chaos. So...in a way...they pretty much stomped each other.

B: Well, I guess the Chaos went out of control and everything was just washed away, but good thing it's all 'Kyogre' now.

W: The battle is a tie.
