Hey! So, this is my first time creating a story with an OC included but, I hope you enjoy the journey.
Tony was sitting down at the breakfast table with his team. He was on the far right towards the window, opposite and directly across from him sat Natasha and Clint. Thor sat beside him eating cereal like a starved bear. Steve was looking for the milk. And Bruce… well, he said he was making a breakthrough on a project and couldn't attend. Steve was making coffee. Harmonious chaos. It was lovely, Tony thought to himself looking at his newspaper he was reading. Moments later he heard his cell phone buzz. For a moment he just stared at his cell phone cause he didn't recognize the number.
"Stark?" Natasha grumbled with half a bite of an everything bagel in her mouth. "Aren't you gonna get that?" She asked with a mildly annoyed expression but a curious head tilt.
"Right," Tony muttered and cleared his throat. He picked up the phone and pressed the button to answer. "Hello?"
"Is this Tony Stark?" A voice asks on the opposite end. It sounded very young.
"Yes."
"It's me dad- ...Daddy, you've been gone for a long while now." The female voice continues. She sounds young but, not as young as Tony remembers.
Tony's eyes widened with the realization of who was on the other end and took initiative to cover the receiver and he stood up. " I need to take this. Business call-" He muttered to his colleagues, the Avengers; looking at him expectantly. He then strode out of the room where he had more privacy. He drew in a shaky breath before, taking his hand off the receiver.
"Madison?" He asked, it was hard to tell from his voice if he was happy or if he was upset by this phone call.
"It's me- Heh. It's been a long time since I've seen you…" The female voice said, she sounded nervous.
"I know... That's my fault, Squirt." Tony said in disappointment. It wouldn't be the first time he didn't hold his end of the bargain with someone. Especially, if it didn't hold up with his personal agenda. "Your mother knows about this?"
"Doesn't have to. You don't want to know. I'm… on my way to see you."
"Oh boy…" Tony muttered under his breath. What was he missing? The last time he'd seen her she was at the Hydra compound in Sokovia. For safety reasons he treated her as a stranger and they parted ways. To keep her safe. Not even the Avengers knew this tidbit of information.
"I gotta go, Honey. Can I save this number?" He asked, hopefully.
"Ya." The voice squeaked. "I love you."
Tony paused for a moment before speaking once again. "I love you, 3000."
He chuckled faintly and hung up the phone. Tediously, bringing himself to walk back into the dining room of the tower once.
"Tony, you look like you've seen a ghost." Steve quipped, looking up from his newspaper.
"Eh, shut it Capsicle," Tony mumbled rolling his eyes.
"No, Steve's right-" Clint pitched in. "You look a bit pale there." He said with a tilt of his head watching Tony.
"Come! Sit." Thor boomed, slamming his palm down on the table where Tony had previously been sitting. "Enjoy a Pop of Tart. You'll feel better."
"Poptart," Clint corrected.
"That's what I said!" Thor stated. "A Tart of Pop."
"What Clint said. And no thanks," Tony said, walking over to his chair. He paused before sitting down. "I don't want a pop-tart."
Natasha leaned against Clint for a moment and rested her head against his shoulder; her arm crossed against her middle. She seemed uncomfortable.
"How's the serum Bruce working on going for ya Nat?" Steve asked, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Torture..." She breathed. Irritation in her voice. "But worth it for what's to come."
Clint looked over at Steve and shook his head as to signal it was a bad topic to discuss right now.
For the past few months, Natasha had been taking a serum to reverse the effects of the physical damages she went through in the Red Room. One being infertility. She wanted to have a chance at a child. But for that to happen, she was a long way to go and it would mean she'd have to tolerate the monthly problem she hadn't had to experience since her Red Room graduation. So, for a few days a month, everyone dealt with an angry Natasha, and Clint was always trying to avoid the crosshairs. He knew she wanted this.
"New subject!" Tony crowed, sounding more like his usual obnoxious self.
"Oh, shut it Stark!" Natasha snapped and sat up giving him an angry glare. "I want to talk about this. THEY can talk about this as they are being a help. You don't know shit about children except how to fucking make them! So, fuck off. Fuck off, Stark!"
"You're right." Tony cried out. "I DON'T know shit. Even with my own damn kid!"
He said slowly, slowly putting his head in his hands due to frustration. Tony Stark didn't back away from an intellectual debate but, this wasn't his ballpark. Parenting. He didn't know how.
"WHAT?!" Everyone in the room squawked with shock, including Virginia Potts who had walked in when she heard the shouting.
Silence.
The room fell silent for several minutes after Tony's outburst with Nat.
As of now, Natasha was just as confused as the rest of the Avengers. "Tony Stark has a fucking kid?" That was news considering he was barely responsible for keeping a stable relationship with Pepper Potts. Even if he was hoe before. However, that worked out nobody had a clue but she [Pepper] seemed content with the situation.
Right now, Pepper looked rather disturbed or shocked? He had told no one. Apparently, not even his girlfriend which was a scary thought.
"Ahem, so no one's gonna clear up the idea that Mr. Stark has a little one?" Thor asked breaking the silence. He paused for a moment, looking at the other Avengers. Daunting as it was there was no going back from this conversation.
"Tony?" Pepper asked her tone soft as she walked over to him.
He hadn't spoken for several moments. He just sat with a stoic expression and didn't seem to be looking in anyone's direction specifically. Behind his eyes, his mind seemed to be elsewhere than his physical embodiment.
"Damn, Nat! Did you break him?" Clint scoffed, looking at her. "I've never heard him this quiet."
In response, Natasha glare and then elbowed him in the shoulder in a playful manner. "He was running his mouth," She mumbled grumpily.
"Tony." Pepper said once again, her tone a little sharper. Hoping, she wouldn't startle him. She kneeled by him and gripped his arm in almost an affectionate manner. "Is it true? Do we have a child?"
She used the term "we" in the sense to be supportive even if she had no clue what she was getting herself into. He hadn't spoken for another several moments and Pepper gently squeezed his arm to possibly get his attention.
"Yes," Tony said eventually, inhaling sharply. "A daughter. Madison."
"Well, why didn't you tell us?" Natasha drawled, narrowing her eyes a little due to a minor feeling of betrayal. She hated being left in the dark especially about things under her nose. Things she should know but didn't. She sat up a little from her slumped position but had her arm lazily wrapped around her painful middle. Her features softened with curiosity.
"It was safer for her. When we found Pietro and Wanda…. I found her there too" Tony muttered, he sounded so hurt. So ashamed. " I had…. I had no idea her mother was a conspiring Hydra agent when I met her. It was like my parents all over again when it finally dawned on me."
"When you knocked her up-" Steve muttered under his breath.
Surprisingly, Stark didn't say anything. Wow. He really did feel like shit about it.
"Shut Up, Steve." Natasha scowled, giving him a look.
Steve didn't have to hear any more to know Nat meant business and he just nodded with wide eyes. Stark already pissed her off and she had seemed to calm down and was oddly defending him. If this was her being calm. But he wasn't ready to be the next person with a walking target on his back.
"She's fine, obviously but I had to act like I didn't know her for two years…" Tony sniffled.
"I've missed thirteen years of her life-"
"Wow. He genuinely did seem hurt. He wasn't milking it." Steve thought to himself. "Was he- Is Tony crying? Hell, why'm I caring?"
This whole ordeal had everyone rather confused. Eventually, Stark stopped his sniffling or whimpering for a matter and they got a conversation out of him.
"Her name is Madison Collins Stark."
So, for those who previously read this chapter, this is the updated version without that ugly cliffhanger! Don't forget to favorite, review and tell your friends! I'll try to get another chapter by the end of the week. :)
