Note: I just saw Season 6 and it gave me inspiration to write this story.
Chapter: 1
TeamFlash was at STAR Labs sitting around drinking coffee and joking around when Barry's phone started ringing, he picked it up and saw it was Alex. Ever since Crisis, he kept in contact with all the other heros including Supergirl now that they all live on the same Earth, "Alex? Hey, what's up?" he answered.
It was silence on the other side of the phone, which made the speedster's smile dissipate, "Alex? Is everything okay?" he asked concern, gaining the attention of the team.
"I...It's…...uh...it's Kara." she said as he heard her take a shaky breath, "She….she's gone Barry." she added as Barry's heart dropped and felt like he had been punched in the stomach. Gone? He closes his eyes and tries to keep his tears at Bay. He lets out a shaky breath. He can't believe what he was hearing. He rubs a hand down his face and lets out a sigh "W..what happened?" he asked in a low tone, he opened his eyes and stared at his coffee, ignoring the concern and worry looks of his team.
There was breathing, like Alex was trying to compose herself, "It's…..uh…..a long story." she replied, he sat there listening to every word she said. Finally when she got near the end, a lone tear fell down his face as he quickly wiped it away.
"Okay...uh, thanks Alex. for letting me know." he said as he swallowed, "I'm sorry about….about Kara." he said as he heard a sigh on the other line as Alex hung up.
Barry sat his phone down, still staring at his coffee. Kara was gone. How...how could she be gone? He asked himself as he sniffed and wiped his eyes. "Barry?" he heard Iris call his name snapping him out of his thoughts and saw the concerned looks of his team. How was he going to break the news? He thought as he took a deep breath.
"That...that was Alex. Kara's sister." he said getting ready to deliver the worst news. "It's uh….Kara…..she's…um...she's gone." he said as the team all gasped in shock. "What? What happened?" Iris asked concern for her friend she likes.
Barry takes a deep breath, "Lex Luthor. The man who was with us during Crisis. He…..uh…..he sent her into a bad place that's far, far away in space. Called The Phantom Zone. He took a device that could send people there and then he….he used it on her and they…...they don't think they can ever get her back" he told them sadly, looking to see tears down their faces.
"I...I can't believe it. You mean that she's...gone? As in…."Iris said as she placed a hand on her mouth to muffle a sob. Barry shrugged "Uh, from….from what Alex said, she's….she's not dead….just…...she's just not on Earth anymore." he told them as the team cried silently for their lost hero. It was like losing Oliver all over again. But this time, it was the sunny Kara Danvers. And Barry, he just looked like he lost his best friend. He did lose his best friend. His super friend.
A Few Days Later
TeamFlash was all in the lounge of STAR Labs, it's been a few days since they heard about Kara, they were trying to figure out how to break the news to the other teams. The speedster still couldn't believe that Kara was gone. He was brought out of his thoughts when Cisco walked in carrying a box. "What's in the box Cisco?" he asked curious as the engineer shrugged.
"I don't know. It...it was just sitting out front. It's...it's from Kara." he said and just like that the room was silent, this was the first time they heard her name in days and it still pains them to think about Kara.
Cisco set the box down on the coffee table and opened it. There was a crystal and a small podium, along with a note attached to the bottom. Barry picked it up and read it out loud.
Barry,
You must be wondering what the device is. It's a crystal. A Special crystal that was developed on Krypton that will allow me to send messages if anything was to ever happen to me.
Barry looked at the team who were stunned as Cisco pulled out a podium and slid the crystal in the slot, the team backed up as it glowed and then a hologram of Kara in her suit popped up. Barry's eyes teared up. Will he ever see that face again.
Hi Barry, if you're seeing this, it means I'm…..I'm dead or have been sent somewhere far, far away where I may not return. If anything was to happen to me, this crystal was supposed to find you and the team, because I can't leave until….until I said all my goodbyes. I want you to know that you have been a great friend to me since you accidently crossed over to my earth all those years ago. You're my superfriend. Always will be. I need you to do something for me. I need you to watch over my city. Help Dreamer and the rest of TeamSupergirl keep my city safe.
I don't know if I will ever return, just know that….that you and your team have been great. I was glad to meet them. I...I gotta go now Barry, just know that no matter where I am, I will always be with you and team flash. Goodbye Barry.
The hologram shut off and the team all just stood/sat there with tears going down their faces. Barry sit's down on the couch and takes a shaky breath as he closes his eyes letting his tears fall.
"I will not fail you Kara." he whispered as he sniffed and looked up at his team to see this was hitting them hard as well. "T….The others need to see this. They….they have to know." he said as Cisco nodded.
The Next Day
Team Legends and Team Arrow were all in STAR Labs Cortex. "Why are we here Barry?" Sara asked, waiting for the speedster to talk.
Barry looked around the room and at the team who looked like they would cry any minute. He didn't blame them, he would too. "Uh, I…..we just received some news." he said regretting having to tell this again the second time. The first time wasn't enough.
"Kara Danvers (aka) Supergirl is….is gone." he said as the group all gasp in shock as well, "H...How? We thought...we thought she was indestructible." Sara said as they all nodded agreeing with the time Captain.
Barry shook his head, "She's...she's not gone as in…...she's just not…..not on Earth anymore. She left us a message." he said, activating the crystal and listened as he heard Kara's voice. The same voice he wouldn't hear again.
When the hologram message was over, he saw that the group was devistated. "According to her sister, the man who was with us during Crisis. Lex Luthor. He got his hands on a device that transports people to a place called: The Phantom Zone. It's a region far, far away in space where time doesn't pass. He...uh sent her there and now she's trapped and the team….Supergirl's team don't know if she would ever return." he explained as the group looked saddened and some who knew her, had tears running down their faces.
"Well, there's….there's gotta be a way to get her out." said Caitlin wanting nothing more than to save her friend.
"You can." said a voice making the group of hero's turn to see Alex in a surprisingly new black and blue bodysuit along with TeamSupergirl who were also in their suits as they walked up towards the heroes.
"S...She's my sister. I'm not giving up on her. We will find her and bring her home. But we can't….can't do without help." she said as she took a deep breath, "Who's in?" she asked as the group of hero's all looked at her before they looked at eachother, nodding before Sara stepped in front of the group.
"Where do we start?"
