Harumi Carter stirred and shuffled in bed next to her lovely wife, Nya Smith
Harumi knew that when they first met, they didn't start on the best terms.
"Nya, the girl."
Harumi laughed at the memory
She remembered when Nya confessed her love to her, and when Harumi did the same on a walk
FLASHBACK
"Harumi, could I speak to you in private?" Nya asked Harumi one day while fixing her hair
"Sure, Nya. What's up?"
"It's important. Meet me outside in 5 minutes."
Harumi quickly changed into pants and a shirt and followed Nya outside
When they got outside, Nya looked terrified of something
"Nya, what's wrong? You seem scared."
Nya didn't answer the question. Instead, she started walking on the path
After a while, Nya spoke
"Jay and I broke up."
Harumi was taken aback. Jay and Nya weren't just dating, they were engaged!
"Nya, I'm so sorry. Did he do something?"
Nya started crying and looked at the floor
"No, I did."
"What did you do Nya?"
Nya took a deep breath and pulled out a lesbian flag from her back pocket
"I came out to him as lesbian. You have been openly gay for a while, so I thought it was a good idea. But when I told him, he broke off our engagement and kicked me out. He didn't yell or hurt me, he just told me to get out of our house and stay somewhere else. I guess his inner homophobia is showing."
Harumi choked back a sob and hugged Nya
"I'm so sorry Nya."
"But there is something else."
Harumi stopped Nya and looked at her
"What is is Nya? You can tell me anything you want."
Nya started crying harder and Harumi gave her a tissue
After a while, Nyas tears came to a halt
"Are you ready to tell me?"
"Yes. The truth is, I have had feelings for a girl for a while."
Harumi was taken aback but listened
"She's really pretty." Nya continued
"What is she like?" Harumi asked her
"She's smart, funny, talented, and sometimes scary. She's resourceful, street-smart, and isn't afraid to fight." Nya answered, smiling
"What does she look like?"
"Her race is Asian, and she has green eyes. She loves horseback riding and shirts and pants. Her hair is white, and she's beautiful."
Harumi stopped short. She had feelings for Nya for a while, but pushed them down as she was disowned because of it. But Nya sounded like she was describing her.
"How old is she?"
Nya smiled harder
"Your age, 18."
"Nya, who is it?" Harumi asked
Nya looked Harumi in the eyes
"It's you. Harumi, your so pretty and beautiful. When you nearly died in that building crash, I was losing my mind at the thought of never seeing you again. I didn't know what I was feeling, but I realized it was and still is love. I- I love you, Harumi."
Harumi gripped Nyas shoulders
"If you don't like me back, that's fine. I can accept that and move on. But if there's anything I learned from the Empress herself, it's to never bottle up feelings, because they will keep on building up and eventually, cave. They come back to you like a tidal wave. But if you reject me, I can accept that-"
Before Nya could finish, Harumi kissed her. The young woman captured the water ninjas lips in a long, passionate embrace. The girl's lips were soft, and that's the way Harumi liked it. Nya kissed her back and wrapped her hands around Harumi's waist. The kiss was warm, passionate, and nothing that Nya felt with Jay. With Jay, the kiss was hard and since Nya was lesbian, she never felt love when she was with Jay. But with Harumi, she felt something she never felt before: passion and love.
They kissed for a full 10 seconds before breaking for a second and kissing again, and again, and again. Nya never thought she would make out with the Empress herself, but here she was, kissing her and starting a new, loving relationship. Harumi eventually broke it and looked at Nya.
"Let's go back home, babe."
"Ok. Wait, home?"
"Yes. You live with me now."
Harumi took Nya's hand and interlocked it with hers. Nya wrapped her arm around Harumi's waist and together, they walked home, girlfriend and girlfriend.
2 YEARS LATER
Harumi held the ring in her hand, anxiously waiting for Nya to return home. She had been Empress for 2 years, and needed an Empress to rule with her.
Harumi heard the front door open, and in walked her girlfriend, Nya.
"Hey babe, sorry I'm back so late. That speech I gave at the center of Ninjago city today took FOREVER. I got asked so many questions by so many different reporters, you would have thought it was a press conference or something. Not to mention the paparazzi on the way out. Anyway, how was your day?"
"Pretty good. I made gay marriage legal in Ninjago again, did a speech about anti-rape, and went to a pride parade. I also bought something for you."
Nya kissed Harumi gleefully
"That's wonderful news! What did you buy me?"
Harumi grabbed Nyas hands
"Nya, sit down."
Nya did that
Harumi got down on one knee
"Nya, you make me so happy everyday. When I'm not with you, it feels like a part of me is missing. You helped me accept myself further."
Tears of joy started welling up in Nyas eyes.
"Nya, I need someone to rule with me. Will you marry me and become my Empress, and make the world a better place together?"
When Harumi said that, she pulled out the ring and showed it to Nya. It had a diamond in it for Nya's birth month, April.
Nya was lost for words. Harumi had just asked to marry her!
"Yes! Yes, Harumi. I will marry you!"
Nya slipped the ring onto her finger and jumped into Harumis extended arms
She kissed her joyfully again
Nya never thought she would be getting engaged to the Empress herself, but here she was
WEDDING DAY
"Do you, Harumi Anesthesia Carter, take Nya April Smith to be your lawfully wedded wife, through sickness and health, though times of bad and times of good?" The minister asked
"I do." Harumi said while holding Nyas hands
"And do you, Nya April Smith, take Harumi Anesthesia Carter to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part? And do you accept the duties of the office upon which you are about to enter as Mrs. Carter's wife?"
"I do." Nya said while holding Harumis hands
She never thought that she would getting married to the Empress, but here she was
"If that is the case, I pronounce these two wive and wife. you may now kiss the bride."
The minister backed up and the 2 girls kissed each other joyfully
END OF FLASHBACK
Nya stirred next to her, and woke up
"Harumi?"
"Yes, love?" Harumi asked her
"I want to break up."
Harumi shot awake
"What?"
Nya laughed
"April fools."
Harumi looked at the calendar and sure enough, it was April fools.
"You fell for it." Nya said laughing
"Maybe I did."
They laughed and kissed eachother in bed
"I love you." Nya said
"I love you too."
They kissed again
Author note:
On my page, all sexualities are valid and loved. You are amazing. If you get a homophobic reaction from your family, friend, or anyone, just know that you are valid and supported by me. I am your support system. I myself identify as lesbian, and my preferred pronouns are she/they, and I know how scary it is coming out to your family, people outside your immediate family, and/or close friends. Luckily, I had and still have a loving and accepting support system, both from my friends and family however, sadly that is not the case for many LGBTQ people, especially children around the world. They are forced to go through church services, read bible verses, and some are even forced to go to conversion camps, which can leave them with religious trauma they are going to have for the rest of their lives.
Another thing that is a sad reality for many LGBTQ kids is their parents kick them out and disown them. When you become a parent, you have to love your kid unconditionally. You can't say "I'll love you if you're not gay." That's a condition. That is not unconditional love. Unconditional love is "I'll love and support you no matter who you love." That is unconditional love. That is what you have to practice and do as a parent. The bottom line is: If your child's sexuality is going to be an issue with you, don't have children.
Also, religion is not an excuse for discrimination. If you cant support it because it's against your religion, which is false by the way, that does not mean you can go around putting others down because they are not the same as you. Most of the text in the bible that's translated against LGBTQ people is actually being revisited due to it not supporting Matthew or Mark. Also, most Christians don't even follow old testament law for that reason: It does not support the new testament. And at the end of the day, someone else's sexuality and/or sexual identity is not your life, which does not make it your business. Not everyone is Christian.
The reason it's not a sin is because back then, the bible was mistranslated to say homosexual instead of pedophile, which means an adult sleeping with a minor or child. So back then, the same-sex relationships were not out of love, they were out of lust. They were not consensual, age-appropriate, loving relationships. It does not make sense to me why parents call their children slurs, kick them out of the house, or even send their children away to be "cured". Conversion therapy is a horrible practice that leaves many LGBT children traumatized. Your sexuality cannot change, and never will.
Please know you are valid, loved, supported, and amazing.
Kind regards:
