Waves crashed along the shore, rocking the wooden dock back and forth. This was a familiar sight. to the blonde girl as she stood to the side. It wasn't as nice as Tatsumi Port Island, but it was a nice sight nonetheless.

Aigis leaned against the railing, staring out into the setting sun as she heard the sounds of various civilians walking behind her. She looked around, before noticing a black object on the ground,"Hmm, someone left their phone here." She leaned down to pick it up. At which point, it began to ring, showing the name "Ryuji," on the Caller ID. She answered it,"Hello?"

"Oh, someone picked it up!" She heard a young man's voice, presumably that of Ryuji, through the phone. Probably aged 17, she figured,"Hey, that's my friend's phone you have there, you mind not stealing it or anything?"

Aigis couldn't help but smile at that,"I have no intention of stealing it. I have my own forms of communication. I would be glad to give it back to you."

She heard noises, presumably the rest of his friends talking to him,"She sounds a little robotic,"She overheard,"Wanna wait, or find her?"

"If you desire," She said,"I could wait at the portside for you. Just look for a blond woman in white with... headphones."

She heard mutterings,"Sure thing, see ya!" He hung up. Aigis held the phone closely as she leaned back.

Then there was a sound,"Hello!" Aigis looked at the phone, noticing a red-headed girl on it,"I am Sophia, humanity's companion!"

Aigis blinked. Was this a digital assistant? It wasn't like anything she'd ever seen. Not like Siri, Cortana, or that new one, EMMA. Maybe it was something that was handmade? She decided to play along,"Hello Sophia, I am Aigis."

Sophia seemed to think for a moment,"You are... artificial, aren't you?"

Aigis looked on in surprise. Both at the girl talking back in a little more natural way than any digital assistant she'd ever talk to, but that she seemed to have caught on to her robotic traits,"Yes. I am a... machine. You catch on quickly."

"I'm artificial too!" Sophia said happily,"I heard it in your voice. You don't sound like a human at all!"

Aigis frowned a little at that. This caused Sophia to look confused,"Did I say something wrong?"

"No, it's not that." Aigis said,"It's... a little surprising to you say that. I'm usually very good at being human-like."

"Does that mean you have emotions?" Sophia asked.

"Well, yes."

Sophia suddenly frowned,"Does that mean you have a heart?"

"You could say that."

"..." Sophia had a sad look on her face,"Were you born with a heart, Aigis?"

Aigis let out a sigh. Memories slowly coming back to her,"No. It took me a while to fully grow emotions."

"Was it painful?" Sophia asked.

"Sometimes." Aigis said,"It was dependent on the emotion I was going through. Happiness, Joy, and Love do not hurt. Anger and Sadness, however, do."

"How long did it take?"

"Too long." Aigis said,"I think I'm still learning how to process emotions. Emotions are complicated, I do not think even humans fully understand them."

Sophia frowned,"If it's complicated for humans, then how are we supposed to learn from them?"

"Like most things, it has to take time." Aigis said,"It helps if you have friends." She gave a smile.

"You are happy." Sophia said, then she cocked her head,"But your eyes looked sad."

Aigis' eyes widened at this. Was her mind going back to...

"Did I? I suppose I was thinking of... a really good friend." Aigis looked away for a moment.

"I'm sorry." Sophia frowned,"I didn't mean to make you sad."

"It happens, Sophia." Aigis said," Sometimes emotions will crop up even if you don't expect them too. Sometimes humans will get emotional and you don't why. Humans are strange like that."

"They get emotional for no reason?"

"Yes, they'll hate, get angry, get sad for no reason. However, they will also love for no reason, feel happiness for no reason." Aigis said.

"When were you made?" Sophia asked suddenly.

"Officially, I was made in 2000." Aigis then began to laugh,"I suppose in computer years, that makes me an old maid."

"How about big sister instead?" Sophia said.

Aigis responded by booping the screen where Sophia's nose should be, causing the AI to giggle a little,"Very well, I am a big sister."

"Yay, I have a big sister now!" Sophia let out a little hum.

"Indeed." Aigis noticed a figure running towards her in the corner of her eye,"Perhaps when we meet again, I will have a body made for you."

"Really, you'd do that for me!?"

"Of course. I'm certain you want to interact with the outside world like me. I bet I could pull a few strings to help you." Aigis said.

"Thank you, Big Sis!" Sophia logged off as the figure came to stop in front of Aigis.

Aigis looked up at the young man, noticing his disheveled black hair,"There she is, thank goodness." A voice came from his bag.

Aigis cocked her head,"Do you have a cat in your bag?"

"Not a cat!"

"You sound like a cat." Aigis said. She noticed the young man's eyes widen under his glasses.

The young man coughed,"I'lltakethatphonenow, okaybye!" HE grabbed the phone and,"Thank you!" He ran off, while the cat began whispering something about a Metaverse? Aigis chuckled at this. She walked away, wondering when she'll see that little AI again.

A/N: I'm surprised no one has attempted this yet. Sophia is the world's most adorable AI.
