I'm back! Just a heads up, chapters maybe uploaded much slowly than I normally would. But enjoy! :)

After the events that the Enterprise went through on Delta Vega, Star Fleet had given them a week long shore leave on a Federation planet called, Lilo. A planet which was known for its natural beauty and its wonderful hospitality. The crew were staying in the capital city called, Mela. It was filled with shops, cafés, bars, and lots more. It also had a gigantic park at its heart. Even if Star Fleet hadn't granted them shore leave, Captain Kirk was going to demand it, since he wanted a rest from all the excitement which seemed to follow the Enterprise wherever the ship went. It had taken the Enterprise several days to arrive at this planet, which gave Keenser all the time he needed to recover from his brush with death after getting poisoned and he was looking forward to spending sometime relaxing and he wasn't the only one.

For once the ships Chief Engineer, Montgomery Scott couldn't wait to go on shore leave. It wasn't just because of what happened on Delta Vega, it was also the first shore leave that he could spend with Lexie. Normally he would have to be ordered to take it by Captain Kirk, but even then he didn't really obey it. Scotty typically just beamed down to the planet, waited a couple of minutes then just beamed back up to the ship. However Scotty knew he wouldn't be able to do that this time round, mainly because he knew Lexie would simply just drag him from the Enterprise. The crew had been on Lilo for five days now and it seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves, the only members of the crew who didn't take shore leave on the planet was Spock and Uhura, they did pop down for a day but decided to just stay on the ship.

It was early evening and Lexie was wandering down the high street with Scotty by her side and Delta (Lexie's robotic friend) sitting on his shoulder. "Lilo is such a beautiful planet and Mela is a wonderful city, it's so lively and there's so much to see." Lexie stated as she looked into a shop window at a lovely flower display of vibrant colours, Scotty nodded. "I can't argue with that lass, it almost reminds me of Edinburgh back home." Lexie chuckled, she could see where he was coming from. Lexie had lived in Scotland for a period of her life and remembered Edinburgh very well. She then noticed a book shop just ahead of them, "I'm going to pop into that book shop Scotty, I won't be too long." Scotty smiled. "Alright lass, take your time we ain't in any rush." Lexie nodded before hurrying over to the shop, while Scotty walked over to the shop on the opposite side of the street. "Scotty, I've been thinking about something?" Delta said, Scotty turned his head towards the little robot. "And what would that be lad?" "I was wondering if you would help me find a gift for Lexie as a thank you."

Scotty gave the robot a puzzled look, "A 'thank you' for what lad?" Delta smile softly. "Tomorrow is the anniversary of the day she created me." Scotty looked amazed, this was news to him. "In that case, of course I'll help you lad. Have you seen anything while we've been walking around?" Delta quickly nodded, "Yes I have." Scotty asked where it was and Delta stated it was in a shop window which was a little bit back up the street. The two of them quickly hurried off, knowing Lexie wouldn't be in the book store for much longer. They soon came to the shop which turned out to be a jewellery shop, "What caught your eye Delta?" Scotty asked. Delta jumped down to stand on the window sill and quickly pointed at a white pearl neckless with a gold star pendent, "I saw this, but it's way too expensive." Scotty simply picked him up. "No it ain't lad and I think it's beautiful, now let's get it before Lexie finds us." Delta smiled as the two of them wandered into the store to buy their gift.

Lexie had just come out from the book shop with several books clutched against her chest, she looked around to find that her friends were nowhere to be seen. "Where have them two run off to?" Lexie questioned to herself as she continued to look, around just in case she missed them. "Lexie, over here." She turned to see Scotty walking towards her from further up the street, Delta yet again sat on his shoulder. "And where did you two sneak off to?" She asked with a little chuckle, Scotty put his hands up. "Nowhere special Lex, we just went to look inside a shop, that's all." Lexie wasn't totally convinced but she didn't bother asking again, Scotty then glanced up at the sky which was slowly turning dark blue. "We should probably start to head back to the hotel lass, it's getting late and I can almost guarantee that the others will be waiting for us." Lexie just nodded, so the three of them started back to their hotel. Scotty had noticed the books that Lexie was carrying, "What you got there lass?" He asked. Lexie looked down at the books which she was still cradling in her arms. "Just a few new books Scotty, most of them are about physics and science, but there is one normal book."

Now Scotty was even more intrigued, "And what's that one about?" He asked. "It's about five friends who suddenly gain elemental powers after exploring an ancient ruin, they then have to use their new found abilities to protect the people of a peaceful civilization from a predicted evil." Scotty had been listening in amazement, "Sounds childish doesn't it?" Lexie asked as her cheeks blushed. "Not at all lass, it sounds like a brilliant book. What made you pick that one?" Once again Lexie looked down at the books, "It fell off the shelf next to me, I must have knocked it off and when I went to pick it up I read the cover, instantly I wanted to know how the story played out so I got it." Scotty smiled. "So do I, now that you've told me what it's about. Would I be able to read it after you?" He asked, Lexie nodded. "Of course you can, I'm sure it won't take me too long to read it." Scotty smile, at least he would have something different to read other than him continuingly reading his technical journals. Scotty offered Lexie a bag to put her books in which she took, at least then she wasn't hugging them.

They soon arrived back at their hotel, which was called 'The Crystal Seasons', it was the biggest hotel in Mela and it was famous for its stunning décor and wonderful architecture. When they walked into the lobby a voice instantly called out their names, "Scotty, Lexie." They turned to see Kirk waving at them from a corner of the room, sat behind him in several chairs were McCoy, Chekov, and Keenser. Lexie and Scotty walked quickly over to them, "You guys have a nice walk around the high street?" Asked Kirk, Scotty nodded. "Yes, there are so many shops selling amazing things." "Did you get anything nice?" McCoy questioned. "I didn't, but Lexie did." Scotty replied as he sat down next to Keenser, "What did ya get Lex?" Asked Chekov. "Just a few new books Pavel, nothing too special." She replied, Kirk then sat down next to McCoy.

"Are you two still up for dinner tonight?" Scotty looked over at Lexie who simply nodded at him, "We sure are Jim, the table was reserved for seven right?" Kirk nodded. "Sure is Scotty, so that gives us all an hour and a half to get ready. Which should be plenty of time. Right?" Everyone simply nodded, Lexie smiled as she wandered over to Scotty. "Come on Delta, let's get back to our room. I've got a surprise for you." Delta's eyes glowed brightly, "What surprise Lexie?" He asked. Lexie winked at him as she booped him on the nose, "You'll just have to wait and see now won't you, because if I told you it wouldn't be a surprise." Delta sighed quietly, he wished Lexie would just tell him. "OK Lex." The little robot jumped from Scotty's shoulder to Lexie's before she waved goodbye to the others, while Scotty and Delta exchanged a sneaky wink as she walked away.

Lexie soon walked into her hotel room, which was massive compared to her quarters back on the Enterprise. She headed straight for the bedroom, towards the vanity which sat against the back wall, Delta jumped down onto the marble top while Lexie placed the bag of books gently down next to her friend. "Come on Lex, what's this surprise?" Delta cried like an impatient child, Lexie chuckled at him. "Patient Delta, I'll go get it just now." She replied as she booped him on the nose before hurrying off into the next room. Her robotic friend just bounced around on the vanity, he was too excited to stay still. Lexie soon wandered back into the room, her hands behind her back. She couldn't help but giggle at Delta as he bounced up and down like a bouncy ball. "Close your eyes." Delta didn't waste a single second, he quickly shut his eyes tightly. Lexie slowly stepped up to the vanity and knelt in front of it, her hands hovering in front of her little companion. "OK Delta, you can open your eyes." The robot quickly opened his eyes and gawked at what was in front of him, in Lexie's hands was a pair of silver wings which had green and gold accents. "Happy Early Birthday Delta!" Lexie cried, Delta was speechless. "You… You made me a pair of wings?"

He questioned happily, Lexie nodded. "Yep. It has always been a dream of yours to fly, hasn't it?" Delta just nodded, he didn't really know what to say, this was totally unexpected. "Do you like them?" "Oh Lexie, I love them. Thankyou!" Delta jumped at her and gave her a hug. "You're welcome buddy." She placed him down once more, "And as a matter of fact I have something for you." Lexie just stared at him. But before she could ask, Delta hurried over to the bag and climbed inside. He emerged a few seconds later, a small white and gold box in his hands. He then placed it down in front of her and smiled, "Open it." Lexie was a little nervous, she placed Delta's wings on the top and picked up the box. She slowly opened it and gasped at what was inside, "Do you like it? Scotty helped me find it." Delta asked. Lexie sniffled slightly before answering, "Oh Delta, I love it. Thank you, but why did you?" "It's a thank you gift for creating me, all those years ago." Lexie took the neckless out of the box and stared closely at it, tears of joy forming in her eyes. "Aww Delta, you didn't need to get me anything. Tomorrow is your birthday not mine, but thank you." Lexie then picked him up and hugged him tightly. "I love you Delta, we'll always be together." Delta didn't say anything, he just enjoyed the moment.

Lexie was sitting at the vanity curling her hair while Delta was flying around the room. Before she had started to get ready to go out for dinner she had fitted his wings onto his back and he seemed to be enjoying them. Lexie was also humming the song which her music box played, it was sort of a habit she had gotten into from a young age but it was one she would never stop. It made her feel calm and Delta also loved hearing it, just like he loved hearing her sing. Delta then suddenly landed in front of her, just as she finished curling her hair. "Your hair looks amazing Lex." "Thanks Delta, you getting the hang of your new wings?" The little robot nodded, "Yep, they feel like I've always had them." Lexie smiled as she put in her earrings. "How and when did you build these?" He asked, "I built them during my lunch breaks during my shifts, Scotty didn't question what I was building and he was more than happy to help by getting me the things I needed." Delta was slightly shocked. "Take it you built them there so I wouldn't be able to see you doing it." Lexie nodded as she stood up from the stool. "Sure did, how do I look Delta?" She gave him a little twirl, the bottom of her pink dress swirled around her knees. "You look beautiful Lex." It was then when he noticed she was wearing the necklace he had gotten her, Delta commented on it quickly. "Of course I'm wearing it silly, I'm never going to take it off."

Delta smiled as she walked back over to him, "We best get down to the lobby, the others are most likely waiting for us." Delta just nodded as he flew up and landed on her shoulder, seeing her little friend flying was still a little odd, Lexie knew it would take her a while to get used to it. They soon entered back into the lobby and instantly saw the others, sat in the same chairs as earlier. "Wow Lexie, you look amazing." Chekov stated when he saw her, Lexie blushed slightly. "Thanks Pavel." "Love the necklace." McCoy said with a smile, "Thanks, Scotty and Delta got it for me." Scotty quickly put his hands up. "It was Delta's idea lass, I only had a little to do with it." Lexie just smiled at him. "What was your surprise then lad." Scotty asked, he had been curious as to what it was ever since Lexie had said about it. Suddenly Delta took off into the air and flew around above their heads, they all just gazed up in amazement. "Lexie made you wings?!" Chekov cried as Delta came to hover in front of him, "She sure did Pavel, it's been a dream of mine to be able to fly forever." After they all got over the shock of Delta's new wings they all left the hotel and headed to the restaurant where they had dinner reservations.

The restaurant wasn't too far from their hotel, so it wasn't too much of a walk. They were quickly seated and soon after ordered their food, much to their relief not a single member of staff questioned the little robot sitting on Lexie's shoulder since that would have been hard to explain. But it seemed that there were people within the restaurant who were interested in him, Delta had noticed a pair of men who were sat across the room were staring at him every so often, they were clearly trying to be discreet but they weren't succeeding in doing that, since Delta noticed almost every time. Delta contemplated telling Lexie about them, but eventually chose not to bother since he didn't wish to ruin her last night of shore leave. However as the evening went on Delta grew more and more uncomfortable as the men only continued to stare at him but still he didn't tell Lexie, he was sure they wouldn't do anything since he was with her, who was with four men and Keenser. Delta was suddenly dragged out of his thoughts by Kirk asking him a question, "You alright Delta?" The little robot quickly turned to face him.

"Yes Captain, I'm alright. Just a little tired that's all." Kirk smiled softly at him, despite telling Delta countless times to just call him Kirk he still called him Captain, which Kirk didn't mind but it felt too formal for one of his friends. "It is late and you've been running about for most of the day, maybe I should take you back to our room so you can rest." Lexie stated as she looked a him as he stood in the centre of the table, "I'll be fine Lex, there's no need for you to do that." But Lexie wasn't going to argue about this. "You maybe a digital being Delta, but you still need rest." She replied while leaning over to pick him up, Delta wanted to argue with her but he chose not to even bother, since he knew he wouldn't win an argument with Lexie so just let her pick him up. "I'll walk you back to the hotel lass." Insisted Scotty as he rose from his chair, "Thanks Scotty, I'll see you all in the morning." Everyone nodded as they said goodnight, Delta didn't want to drag Lexie away from them but he was happy that he would no longer be getting stared at, he just hoped that those men were staring out of curiosity since it wasn't often you saw a small, silver talking robot with wings and not because of something else, which Delta was unsure of.
