I Made A Mistake
DISCLAIMER: Kōhei Horikoshi owns the characters and the world known as Boku no Hero Academia. I do not own anything else, but I enjoy playing in Horikoshi's universe.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: I tried to write a realistic story revolving cheating, infidelity, relationship problems, and redemption but I got shit on by just about every single scum bag troll on the internet to the point of thinking of suicide (the harassment via the anonymous reviews and comments were just absolutely horrible it should be a federal crime) I deleted that old story from FFN and AO3 that I wish to never return to.
But thanks to some well-minded, supportive, and kind people on the IzuOcha Temple Discord, I feel that some people who have nothing better to do except harass and send death threats to writers like me simply for being expressive and wanting to try out ideas crazy, weird, or bizarre… well those haters can fuck off. I may not be able to control reviews on FFN but I can certainly control them on AO3.
I'm trying the idea again, but I'm not making it long. It'll be completely different, short, bittersweet, and painful to those who HAVE done this in the past. Of course, you don't have to read it if you don't like stories like this. If you're one such person who don't like this type of story, hit that back button right now. Shitty reviews and comments will be deleted.
Katsuki Bakugo could never call himself a friend. He could never call himself a loyal lover. Not anymore. Not after what he did five years ago.
He made a mistake.
He played this cruel game and lost.
They grew up together. At first they were like brothers in all but blood. Then by middle school and after puberty started kicking in, that love for each other slowly started to shift. It wasn't until their second year of high school they started exploring each other with an intimate relationship. Their friends all supported them.
But somewhere along the way, during their college years, he started getting distant. He began to explore outside the relationship without him knowing. And he went deeper and deeper into that rabbit hole. By the time he realized his mistake, he was too deep into that darkness, and he didn't stop it, either.
Until he was found out by her. She caught him unaware when he was leaving the campus to meet with his mistress. It all unraveled from there when he was exposed for cheating, for lying to his beloved. For lying to his friends. For lying to his family.
The hurt his former beloved displayed was a knife in his chest.
Twisting.
Burning.
He never forgave himself for breaking such a pure innocent soul. Friends left him. He was alone. He distanced himself from them, from him, to not cause anymore hurt.
Today he sits in the far back, out of view of them and his parents who sit two rows ahead of him, five years later. All he can do now is look from the outside and be silent in his hurt as the person he loved, the person he cruelly burned with his infidelity, finds real love in another person who cared for him from the very beginning.
The man he loved, the man he cheated on, looked so handsome in his wedding kimono. Black with the hints of emerald, and he could see his family's clan insignia emblazoned in the threads, standing next to his bride in her beautiful white wedding kimono. A traditional Japanese wedding with some modern wedding customs thrown in, on a warm Spring day with the cherry blossoms in full bloom. They made it work, and it showed with a wonderful wedding scenery.
As Izuku and Ochako shared a light kiss, signifying their union, Katsuki knew a door was forever locked before him. He chose to break his heart five years ago. The person who repaired Izuku's heart today is now his wife until death.
Katsuki Bakugo deserved to be in pain.
