(A/N: So once again, my brain was toying with the ending of "Super Mario Odyssey", and this fic happened. Like "Odyssey's True End", this is an AU, but this could've made the end of the game just as good as that story would've. Check it out!)

Mario had just defeated Bowser and rescued Princess Peach from becoming Bowser's wife. Cappy and Tiara were reunited and having a happy reunion. While the Bonneter siblings celebrated, Mario looked at Peach. She looked so lovely in the Lochlady Dress, and the sight of her made his heart skip a beat.

Peach looked at Mario. He looked so incredibly handsome in his tuxedo. And he'd just saved her from a loveless marriage that would force her to become a step-mother to 8 Koopa kids who would never love her. For all she knew, they'd heard the fairy tales involving wicked step-mothers, and that would mean they'd have a plan to hurt her so she wouldn't hurt them (even though she'd be too afraid to do so).

Mario realized that since he and Peach were both in wedding attire, now might be a good time to ask her a question he'd been wanting to ask her for quite some time...

But before he could even say a word, Bowser pushed him down and offered the Soirée Bouquet to Peach as a last-ditch marriage proposal. To make matters worse, Peach looked flattered!

Mario was scared out of his mind when he saw that Peach, the woman he loved, the woman who supposedly loved him, was flattered with Bowser's proposal! But before he could do anything, Peach noticed his worry and said, "Mario, wait!"

Mario froze on the spot.

"Let me handle this. When I'm done, you can do what you want, okay?" Peach said, giving him a sweet smile.

Usually, seeing Peach smile would help Mario feel better if he was feeling down, but it wasn't helping him right now.

"I'm not happy about this, but fine." Mario said, feeling sick.

Peach turned her attention back to Bowser.

"Bowser, the Soirée Bouquet is lovely..." Peach began.

"So you'll marry me? Please say yes." Bowser said, looking hopeful.

"Actually, I cannot accept your proposal, now or ever." Peach finished in a firm voice.

"What?" Mario asked quietly. He didn't expect Peach to say that.

"WHAT?! WHY NOT?!" Bowser cried.

"Let's see... You kidnapped me, decided to marry me against my will, tried to kill Mario, forced me into this dress, forced the Soirée Bouquet into my hands, tried to force the Binding Band on me at the wedding, asked the Broodals to kill Mario... am I missing anything?" Peach asked, ticking off the points with her fingers.

"He interrupted me!" Mario said.

"Hey! Don't forget me!" Tiara piped up.

"He kidnapped my little sister!" Cappy pointed out.

"Oh yeah, you interrupted Mario, and you kidnapped Tiara and forced her to be my wedding tiara. Do I need to say anything more?" Peach added.

"But... I love you..." Bowser tried.

"No, you don't. If you loved me, you wouldn't kidnap me, you wouldn't force me, and you would care about my happiness. But you've already made it clear that you don't care about my happiness at all, 'cause if you did, you'd realize that I'm happy with Mario, and you'd let me go with him. But, as I said, you tried to kill him. You tried to kill the one person who makes me happy, just to fulfill your own selfish desires." Peach said.

"He doesn't really love you! He just goes out and takes you from me because he knows that doing so will get him a kiss, or a cake!" Bowser tried.

"I save Peach because I love her!" Mario corrected Bowser.

"And I reward him with a kiss, or a cake, or even both, because he earned them, as well as my love!" Peach added.

"More importantly, you don't see me forcing her to marry me!" Mario said, starting to feel a lot better, knowing that Peach was turning Bowser down, quite possibly for good.

"Because he knows what love is. You don't." Peach said.

"But you do... you love me..." Bowser tried again.

"Are you out of your mind?! Wait, that's an obvious question. Let me think... Okay, are you on drugs?! I do not love you!" Peach exclaimed.

"Yes, you do! You never try to fight me when I kidnap you, and you haven't tried to escape from me when I'm holding you captive." Bowser said.

"Because I know that you'd hurt me, or worse, if I did!" Peach said.

"No, I wouldn't..." Bowser said, but Peach knew he was lying.

"Save it, Bowser. I've had enough of your lies. This conversation is over. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to speak to Mario." Peach said, turning to Mario, who looked extremely relieved.

"Go ahead, Mario." Peach said to her beau.

"Peach, I've been wanting to ask you this for quite some time, and you might have guessed that that's what I wanted to do before Bowser pushed me down. I know that this probably isn't the best time, but I don't think I can wait any longer..." Mario started, and he grabbed a Rocket Flower and got down on one knee as he held it out to Peach.

"Oh my..." Peach gasped, realizing what Mario was doing. She hoped this was what he was going to do before Bowser interrupted.

"Princess Peach, will you marry me and be my 1-up girl?" Mario asked, hoping Peach wouldn't turn him down.

"Oh Mario... of course I will!" Peach exclaimed, tears of joy streaming down her face as she hugged Mario tightly.

"Yahoo!" Mario cheered as he kissed Peach on the lips, overjoyed that the woman he loved accepted his proposal.

Peach immediately responded to the kiss, glad to be marrying the man she knew she loved. A man who truly loved her.

"No, no, no!" Bowser moaned, hating that Peach had accepted Mario's proposal. Why would she do that right in front of him?! And she'd looked flattered when he tried proposing with the Soirée Bouquet, too!

Mario and Peach broke off the kiss at that moment. They didn't appreciate Bowser trying to ruin this happy moment for them. Time to make him suffer worse.

"Yes, yes, yes!" Mario and Peach told him, before kissing again and making a show of it, just to mess with Bowser even more.

Then the credits began to roll, and we saw pictures of Mario and Peach preparing for their wedding, as well as pictures of the wedding, the last one being when Mario was told to kiss the bride.

After the credits, we saw Mario and Peach share another kiss as they flew away in the Odyssey, beginning their honeymoon.

Okay, I know this is shorter than "Odyssey's True End", but there you have it! Bowser ends up getting turned down flat by Princess Peach, while Mario gets the happily ever after he more than earned! I hope you all enjoyed this AU!
