Chapter 1: Imaginary Friend Nono
It was Quinn and Sarah Puckerman that first noticed Kurt's daughter Liza Marie Anderson was talking to an imaginary friend she called Nono. Which they both knew was Sarah's nickname for Quinn's husband Noah when they were kids. Noah was killed overseas before she was born and as far as Quinn knew Liza Marie didn't know anything about him.
Then one day while Quinn was over at Kurt and Blaine's house she heard Liza Marie talking to her imaginary friend Nono in her room about his daughter Beth. Before Quinn goes back into the living room she heard Liza Marie say, "Auntie Queenie misses you, Nono. No, she isn't wiff anyone you're her person Nono. She's not Mama Rachel! Okay?! So, Dada had a crush on Uncle Finn and pushed Nana Carole and G' Pa Burt together thinking Uncle Finn would fall for him! You know that, Nono! Why don't you move on and leave me alone?! I do not! You're dead and yeah you are cute! So what?! I do not! La la la la la not listening! Haha haha, stop! Okay okay, I love you, Uncle Nono!"
This made Quinn turn around before she walked in and asks, "What's going on here? Who are you talking to in here?" Then Liza Marie says giggling, "My friend Nono." Before it looked like she elbowed someone that wasn't there. Soon Quinn hears Santana calling out her name and leaves the room. As she leaves she heard Liza Marie say, "How can she help? The police won't believe her. Hell, Dada didn't believe me and thinks you're not real! Uncle Nono, the police are going to need more proof that Papa is planning to kill Dada!" Liza Marie said more but Quinn couldn't hear it over the music playing.
Later that night, Blaine was texting someone. When he sees a shadow and hears a voice whisper, "I'm watching you!" Before he whispers, "You're dead Puck and you can't save them!" Then Blaine is knocked against the wall and being choked as he hears Noah's voice say, "Wanna bet?!" Before Kurt comes in asking, "What was that? Blaine, Are you okay?" Blaine just watches Noah's shadow fade away before he says, "It's nothing, I tripped and fell against the wall." Before Kurt hears Noah's voice say, "I'm watching you, Blaine." Then Kurt hears a ghostly laugh but he didn't recognize the voice as Noah's voice.
The next encounter Blaine had with Noah's ghost was during Burt and Carole's visit with them. It was after Blaine put Liza Marie in time out and he was about to spank her. Blaine's hand was stopped before Burt heard Noah's voice say, "You lay one hand on Liza Marie, and you're dead! Remember I'm watching you!" Burt pretended he didn't hear it and that night he whispers, "Puck, are you here? Quinn told me about you watching Liza Marie. I don't know what is going on here, but I hope you keep watching Liza Marie." Then Burt sees a flicker of a shadow before he hears Noah's voice say, "Elizabeth and Finn are here too, Burt. Let's just say, my love and anger. Plus, Liza Marie's love for me makes me stronger than them. I have been watching her since I died." Soon Burt is asleep and the house quiet.
The next morning, at breakfast everyone can tell Blaine didn't sleep well the night before and Burt asks, "Are you okay, son?" Blaine just muttered out, "I'm fine." Before Burt hears Noah say, "Did I keep the little Hobbit up all night with fear?! Poor little Richie Rich is afraid of Liza Marie's not so imaginary friend. That knows, he loves his money, more than his own family!" Then Blaine sees the look on Burt's face and knows he knows what's going on now.
Before Burt and Carole went back to Washington Burt says to Blaine, "Son, I may not know everything, but I know if you harm Kurt or Liza Marie. I will make sure you pay for your crimes and I have eyes everywhere." Then he looks at a picture of Noah and Finn with Kurt and Burt before he says in a low growl, "Everywhere! Do we understand one another here?" Then Blaine jumps before Burt hears Noah laughing. Which makes Burt smirk before he leaves.
A week after Burt and Carole went back to Washington DC. Burt sees Noah's ghost and hears him say, "Blaine is still planning to kill Kurt and Liza Marie. Burt, I can only do so much and Kurt thinks I am a demon. Liza Marie is staying with Quinn and Cooper is in the hospital. Blaine's parents are on their way here and let's just say they witnessed me save them from Blaine. Blaine put Sarah in the hospital too! God, Burt, I wish I was alive! That son of a bitch is getting on my fucking nerves!" Then Burt heard a ghostly growl before he sees things flying all around the room.
Soon there is a knock at Burt's front door and Burt hears Carole scream, "Oh, my, God! Patrick, what happened? Where is Patty? Why are Quinn and Liza Marie with you?!" Then Burt hears a voice he hadn't heard in years say, "Hello, Carole, long time no see." Before he hears Noah say, "Dad?" Then Burt blacks out and when he comes back to reality. He sees Nick Puckerman passed out on the ground and Liza Marie was being put in an ambulance. Plus, Blaine is being arrested and Quinn is yelling at Blaine.
It was Carole that told him what happened when they were at the hospital. Burt saved Blaine's parents from being killed, but couldn't save Liza Marie. Who saved Quinn from getting shot. Liza Marie was in a coma and in critical condition. Burt and Carole learn from Patrick that Kurt was dead and Noah's ghost told him that he was with Elizabeth now in heaven.
Which made Burt go to the maternity ward before saying, "Puck, Liza Marie, and Carole are all I have now. Please, help her live! I know she is Blaine's daughter, but I am not about to lose her!" Then he hears Noah say, "I love Liza Marie, Burt and she is not going to die! I lost Beth to Shelby and I don't want her to be here with me just yet. She has been my only connection to the living since I died. I feel like she is the daughter I never had."
Liza Marie woke up an hour later, with no memory of what happened to her. It took her a couple of weeks to regain her memory and in that time Carole was attacked by Blaine; who was able to bail himself out, and he was arrested again. Plus, the bail was set higher, and he wasn't able to bail himself out again.
Carole didn't recover from the attack and died of a heart attack. Liza Marie ended up going to live with Rachel after Blaine was sentenced to life in prison. Burt just poured himself into his work.
