~ SURPRISE ~
Alana stops in her tracks. Her coworkers are in their usual spot at the bar, but why are they wearing cheap party hats and holding balloons...?
"SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALANA!"
Alana beams and allows herself to be swept into the group. "I had no idea that people were planning this," she gushes to no one in particular.
Beverly smiles. "It was my idea."
"Oh?" Alana smiles back, and her stomach flutters as if she's a teenager again. "That's super sweet, you didn't have to."
"But I wanted to."
Beverly winks, and just like that, Alana's day becomes ten times better.
