A.N. Welcome to the reboot of my Digimon Hackers story. I have attempted to streamline my ideas in order to make the Story flow better narratively, as the previous version i felt was too complicated and clunky as I was writing.
This prologue is designed to give some background info in terms of lore and mechanics in a way that i hope does not feel too much like an exposition dump.
One thing not covered in this Prologue that i will bring up is that the Digimon will have Genders in this story. If a digimon has no obvious physical gender, then it can be male or female with the voice being the main or only indicator beyond gender pronouns. If a digimon's design is geared toward a particular gender, then that digimon will be gender locked. For example, as Angewomon is clearly Feamle in design, only Female Gatomon can digivolve into them. Male Gatomon would most likely digivole into the masculine design for Beastmon (Bastimon) instead which is normally associated with the variant species Mikemon.
A woman wearing a business suit stands at the front of a classroom filled with students in their mid-teens. Beside her is a projected screen showing off beautiful landscapes filled with unique and unusual creatures.
"Despite how dangerous a place it can be, the Digital World is very beautiful and has numerous biomes across the various continents. Some of these Biomes are similar to the environments that can be found in our world."
The screen displays lush forest, desserts and tundra as the teacher states this, before displaying a medieval styled village with mystical looking runes and floating orbs of light. It then changes to an extremely high-tech looking cityscape and to a underwater city.
"However there are locations that are vastly different to our world and which we wouldn't be able to re-create even with all the technological advances the Digital World has allowed us to develop."
A hand near the back of the class is raised " Miss Jones, why are we going over this information again? This is all basic information we covered at the start of the Year"
" A few reason Henry. First it's always good to have a light refresher of the basics before we take the autumn break. Second some of the testing you will all be doing after the break will cover this information. Third it may help for those of you planning on attempting to register for you Digimon Licenses ."
Miss Jones paused for a moment and tapped her chin. "I Suppose I could make this more interactive and engaging though. Alright, who can tell me the name & purpose of the Group made up of Azulongmon, Ebonwumon, Bahuimon & Zhuqiaomon?" She scanned the room and pointed at a girl sitting in the back. "Jenna?"
"Their known as the Digimon Sovereigns, and are a group of God-like Digimon. They monitor the Digital World for major threats. If a threat to the safety of the Digital World, or the Digimon populace is discovered they will arrange for it to be neutralised. Either by stepping in themselves for apocalyptic threats, or by ensuring one of the other Groups of Elite Digimon are able to handle the situation."
"Perfect answer, can you also tell me anything about the Deva who serve them?"
"Yes Miss. The Deva are a group of 12 Ultimate Level Digimon who resemble the animals of the Chinese Zodiac. They directly serve the Digimon Sovereigns and will normally be sent to deal with any potential threats before considering if another of the Elite Groups need to get involved."
"Thank you Jenna, can anyone give me the name and the unique purpose of any of the other Groups? I'm not expecting you to give me the names of each individual member… Franklin?"
"The Royal Knights. A Group of Mega Level Digimon, who are unique in the fact that their members can retire and when new members are recruited they don't always have to be of the same Digimon Species as one of the retirees. They are charged with protecting the Serves that keep the different Continets of the Digital World stable and functioning."
"Excellent, hmm Karen?"
"Olympus XII, a group of 12 Mega Level Digimon who resemble 12 of the Olympian Gods. Their Job is to prevent various computer programmes from mutating whilst in the Digital World into new Lifeforms that could upset the balance of the Digital World. Such as the Eaters, a rapidly mutating squid-like creature that could transform & evolve by consuming the Data of Digimon."
"Great, and one more please… David."
"The Seven Great Demon Lords. A Group of Mega Digimon representing the 7 Deadly Sins, who are supposed to prevent the resurrection of the first Super Demon Lord Digimon. Which could not be harmed by any Digimon with any kind of malice or ill-intent behind their attacks, basically meaning anything attempting to fight it."
"Very good." Miss Jones checked her wristwatch, "I'll give a quick overview of the Recoding that can be done with your Partnered Digimon and then I'll let you all leave early."
Her statement was meet with cheers.
"Digimon can grow stronger by absorbing data from other Digimon, or from special objects within the Digital World. This helps the Digimon grow more powerful and can unlock higher forms for them to Digivolve into.
However, it's possible for a Digimon to use the Data they've absorbed to Recode the own data and Digi-Cores to gain access to new fighting techniques from other Digimon and also alternative digivolutions. This is usually achieved by the Digimon having a Human Partner, as it's through a Digivice that we can help improve our Digimon Partners.
Digimon have however demonstrated the ability to do this without a Human Partner, but it's rare for a Digimon to be able to create multiple Recodings to use without the aid of a Human's Digivice.
