A/N: Somethin' new to feed y'all after a long period of absence. This story is a little project I started a while back after rewatching the first Wonder Woman film (2017), followed by playing tons of Mortal Kombat 11. Expect there to be some twists and turns along this ride, I've already gotten a decent chunk written for y'all. Story ignores Wonder Woman 1984, because I originally began writing this prior to that film coming out.
PS: It'll be a bit before MK stuff comes into play. Lookin' at a few chapters, here.
Disclaimer: Yeah. I don't own any DC shit or Mortal Kombat shit.
Prologue
It was close to a quarter to two in the morning, Diana was in a cold sweat. She had just had the most vivid dream imaginable. Steve..Steve was there, right in front of her. He was bloody, his clothes torn and his hair a mess. He had been in a fight.
Just the thought of Steve nearly moved her to tears, but seeing him in that condition..it had rocked her to her core despite having not been able to hold him in over a century. With that, tears rolled down her cheeks as she held onto a pillow for comfort, sitting in her one bedroom apartment located in Paris, France. She held onto the pillow tight, her nails digging into it as she wished he was here. Holding onto her and never letting go, as she just wanted to cry into his soft embrace and large chest.
She hadn't really been with anyone since Steve, if she had been completely honest. She had tried one night stands, but they went nowhere. Every other relationship she had had, romantic wise, never made it past the first or second week. She felt like she couldn't love anymore, like she couldn't feel what she had felt for Steve all those years ago, with someone else but could feel them for only him.
It felt childish to say that she was waiting for over a century for a dead man to walk through her door and make all her problems go away. Her escapades as Wonder Woman and her job at the local museum helped fill her headspace a little, but never enough to truly hide her from her sadness that came with loving him. Loving him like the day he had died.
She wanted to see him, feel him again. Maybe one day..her wish would come true. Hopefully.
His final words, "I love you!" rang through her head. Like as if he were whispering them into her ear now. What she would give if he were.
A/N: Next chapter will be an actual one lmao
