Yo, what's up, RWBY fandom. Sorry for the long, long break. I'm back. Let's see if I can help rwby out a little bit with a time skip. Usually, I'd jump into it but first, let me explain why I'm starting a new story. So without holding you up to much, let's start a rebirth of the assassins.
Hakan flipped while he was falling out of the sky from the ship he had just jumped out of. Thanks to his experience of jumping off of high places, Hakan started to move and managed to land while flipping onto his back, landing in a pile of snow, relatively unharmed. Hakan got up from his spot and started to look around the great fall and appearing out of the sky. Quickly noticing he was in Mantle and seeing he was in an alleyway. Getting up and dusting himself off, Hakan started to walk around the streets of the worn-down city. Keeping his hood on while he walks, Hakan saw robots and security machines all over and a constant reminder from the general that everything will be alright.
"James... What are you doing?" Balling up his fist, Hakan continued to walk through the city. He heard a sound from his right, causing him to stop in his tracks. Looking over was a young fauns girl, beaten up and bruised, shivering on the side of the street. "Hey, you ok?" Hakan asked the little girl as she curled herself up even more to protect herself. Looking away for a short minute, Hakan reached into his pocket, getting out a piece of bread he had torn off for Azure, and handed it to her. "Here, I'll go see if I can find anything else for you. Until then, eat this, ok?" Hakan's voice was soft as he gestured for the girl to take the bread. The youngling looked up as she saw the smile and started to take the offer.
"Hey! Get away from her!" Someone with fury said as they walked up towards him. Looking up but still tossing the girl the bread who caught it on pure reflexes. "Don't you know she's owned?! I could have you arrested from trying to steal her away from me!" The person pointed at the collar on the girl's neck. "But you seem like a nice person, so I'll let it slide," The female turned towards her with a smile on her face. But Hakan can tell the fear in the young girl's eyes. "Are you ok?"
"Can I trade for her?" Hakan asked as he looked at the woman dead in the eye.
"Trade? Hmmm, no deal, this girl is rather important to me and my business."
"Business? What type of business do you run?"
"A magic show! I know it's stupid when you first hear about it, but I assure you it's fun. Would you like to see it?"
"When's your next show?" Hakan played along.
"Actually, we'll do one here!"
"I'd rather not, seeing as I have somewhere important to be, but at midnight? I should be free by then."
"Oh? Would you like to have extra service while we're at it?" The women leaned in and winked at the assassin, to which he gladly took the gesture.
"Only if you want to, be sure to wear something 'special'" Hakan smiled, to which the woman bit her lips.
"Right then, I'll go make preparations."
Walking away after they exchange contact info, Hakan saw the little girl drop a piece of paper on the ground. Picking it up, it was a note or a letter, not clearly addressing one person. Once he opened it up, four more fell out, reading the same thing. Help!
Sorry Weiss, I have a little side mission to go on first. Turning towards the alleyway and scaling the building until he reached the top, Hakan had a clear view of the city below him. Secretly, he had Azure follow the lady to have an idea of where the girl would be. Now he's trying to find a good place to have the girl be a haven. Descending the building, Hakan started to map out all the possible locations to hide the young girl until he came across a huntress. The fighter tied her hair up in a ponytail, and it was light-brown, a beauty mark under her eye, and another on the left side of her mouth. Walking up towards her, the huntress accidentally bumped into the assassin, who grabbed her right writs.
"I need to talk with you," Hakan said as she snatched her hand away.
"Yeah, weirdo, why would I want to talk to you?" The huntress turned towards a truck.
"Robyn Hill, please," Hakan stepped in front of the truck holding his hands and arms up in a sign of peace.
"Look, buddy, I don't understand what your game is, but we're kinda busy. Whatever it is you're trying to do can wait until we're done."
"Even if a little girl's life is in danger?" Hakan asked, placing his arms down by his sides. Robyn stopped for a moment and then exited the truck.
"What do you mean?"
"All I need from you is for her to find a safe spot for her, nothing more."
"And what about you?"
"Be ready by 12. I'll bring her back here by then," Hakan turned around and made his way from the shack and back downtown, making his way towards a shop. Before he arrived in Mantle, three months back, he sent in his weapons to get modified. So he's headed towards the shop that has it. Right next to Pietro's pharmacy, Hakan walked into the door and waved a the counter lady.
"Hi, pick up for Hakeem Johnson?" Hakan walked into the building.
"Oh! You're the one who sent a sniper and two guns, right?"
"Correct."
"Your upgrades are done, and everything you asked for, including the dust-infused bullets, is done. What type of payment are you going to use?"
"Here," Hakan took out a sum of lien and handed it to her while getting his weapons.
"Would you like to test it?"
"If I could," Hakan smiled as she leads the way to a shooting range. Grabbing hold of the trigger while letting it snug onto his shoulder, he aimed down the sights, cocking the bolt action back, placing in a red dust bullet, and let loose of the bolt. Firing the bullet, sending it towards the dummy, making the thing fall back a millisecond later, it exploded, causing the pieces to fly everywhere. "Works just fine, thank you," Hakan put the gun on his back and let out a sigh walking out of the building putting on his hood.
Before he could do anything, he heard the sound of the door opening to his right, making him look for a second. What he saw made him reach for his gun and fire off a shot into a Creep, hitting it in between its skull causing it to explode. Rushing in, he flipped the sniper around, making it change into a spear, throwing it at a leaping Grimm hitting its spine. Skidding to a halt, Hakan reached for his pistols and pushed another unsuspecting Grimm from a red-capped girl who wielded a scythe in her hand. Firing a bullet into its head before it got up, he looked and saw the group of eight finish the rest off quickly as well.
"It seems some people have a sense of good and wrong in this city," Hakan said as he aimed down his sights again, about to shoot another incoming Grimm only for it to meet its end by a green laser vaporizing it.
"Thanks for the help!" The red-caped girl said.
"Don't mention it-" Hakan started until his eyes meet with a pair of blue ones with a scar. "Weiss?" Hakan took a step back and observed the group more. They all tensed up and looked ready to fight if need be. He recognized each of their faces. "Ruby, Yang, Jaune, Ren, Nora, and Blake?! The hell are you guys doing here?!" Hakan took off his hood and looked at the group. His smile slowly faded once he saw a lamp on the side of ruby's skirt.
"Hakan?!" Weiss rushed up towards him and hugged his neck. Upon doing so, the others looked on in confusion as the couple had their moment.
"Why are you here in Mantle," Hakan gestured towards the gold and aqua blue object.
"Oh-"
"Umm, Excuse us, but who are you?" Yang interrupted with a raised brow.
"It's me, Hakeem, the one who was Pyrrha's old friend."
"Hakeem?! We thought you were dead! What happened to you?!" Ruby asked
"And your ears, and dreads, you look... different."
"My ears were cut off when I escape back towards mistral."
"Oh, we went to mistral. What happened to your team? We were expecting to see them at haven!"
Hakan said nothing for a little while and looked away, clenching his fist as memories started to playback in his mind. "Once I got back to mistral, I was happy, excited even to see my former teammates, besides Clarline. But I saw maple, and she was stressed, blood on her shirt... Panting heavily, she broke down in tears upon seeing my face, shaking her head screaming no. I tried to talk to her and help her, but she attacked me, eventually pushing me away with fire dust. I looked up in time to see her turn the blade on herself mouthing out three words. I love you, and then she stabbed herself in the heart, killing herself. In grief, I ran up towards her to try and do something, anything, and then her phone lit up. A message from a number that was sending her terrible messages of Solitaire hung up on chains," tears fell down his cheek as he unconsciously drew his hidden blade. "Thanks to Azure, I found the place and went into it, anger taking over, I..." He looked at his hands as he remembered seeing the bodies of those he killed. "I killed every one of them until I reached Solitaire," Hakan looked up at the night sky shaking. "It was so easy to kill them. But once I saw my own friend, bruised, broken, and dead, I snapped. I yelled out in anger. I lost almost everything that day."
Hakan took his head and looked at each huntsman as they stared at him, horrified at what he had said. "Earlier that day, I went back home to see it burnt. The remains of my sister, mother, and father were there with others who had stayed there. The worst part was the people were still around who did it, hiding in plain view. Not a shackle in sight, so I snuck around being jumped wouldn't have ended well for me. This," Hakan grabbed the necklace. "Is all that is left from them, and then there's Cinder."
Hakan looked at Jaune and then at his armor, eyes widening. "That... The armor, where?" He took a step forward, only for Weiss to stop him and the others to step back.
"It's Pyrrha's. I melted it into my own."
"What about her mom?" Hakan kept his composer for the most part, but his eyes were lighting up in anger.
"H-her mom?"
"Did you at least save some for her? Do you have any idea of the grieving she felt? I walked towards her house in mistral only for her to have moved, it took me a minute, but I found her, next to the statue. Crying, wondering why, why her child... And she has nothing from her only child. Held her for most of the night, really," Hakan teleported behind Jaune and kicked his knee in and then put him in a chokehold. The blonde tried to power his way out, but Hakan wouldn't let go. "Answer me, Jaune!" Hakan threw him to the ground, with Nora and Ren jumping first to protect him.
"Your not the only one who grieved for her death! Why so selfish?!"
"Who's being selfish here?!" Ren rebutted.
"You!" Hakan pointed to Jaune again, relaxing his composer. "I understand contributing a loved one, but taking the last thing she had, isn't it!" Hakan turned and started to walk away from the group and then stopped. "I beg you don't make any stupid decisions. I don't... Don't make me turn against you," Walking a little more, only for Weiss to grab his arm and pull him to face her, slapping him or attempting to slap him in the face. Hakan reacted quickly to lift his hand. His time in two years, fighting off Grimm and fighting far more skilled and dangerous opponents, has hardened him, that and the abilities of his ancestors, making him the last full-fledged assassin in the world.
"What is wrong with you?! You don't just show up and attack friends!"
"Friends?" Hakan asked as he let his arm fall to his side.
"Yes! Did you forget the feeling?"
Hakan said nothing but took her hand and intertwined it with his placing his forehead on hers. After a few seconds, he let go and started to walk away.
"I won't be far," Hakan turned the alleyway and scaled up the wall. Checking his watch, he saw that he still had time to kill, so he started freerunning across the buildings towards the house and waited on top of there until it was time.
Weiss sat on the bulkhead, taking them to Atlas. After Hakan had vanished, they were apprehended by a group of Huntsman called the AceOps. Under General Ironwoods' command, Ace Ops took them directly to him. Feeling a tap on her thigh, Ruby's silver eyes gleamed, dying to ask questions.
"Sooo, when did that become a thing?" Ruby asked, though Weiss didn't answer as she looked over towards Jaune, who was looking at his sword, infused with Pyrrha's own.
"Jaune, look-"
"He was right... I took it without thinking, in my own guilt of not having her. I didn't think-"
"I think he's crazy. Didn't you all hear he killed people?"
"In a fit of rage of all things, we have to look out for him no matter what. Including you," Yang said, only for Oscar to stand up, a hand on his head.
"No, I... Know him, what had happened to him and all, the memories are flooding in!" Oscar fell to his knees. Once he did, the cane fell out. And then he opened his eyes, screaming out in pain as Ozpin and he started to fighting mentally, and Oscar was losing.
"Oscar!?" Ruby rushed towards him and grabbed his shoulder, and then silent. One of the members of Ops rushed out and crouched down next to him.
"What's wrong-"
"I'm fine, I'm... Sorry," Oscar looked up to Weiss, his eyes telling her a story she didn't understand. Getting off his knees, the young farm boy made his way next to the Schnee. Sitting down on the seat next to her, the Op that came in gave a curious glance and then walked back towards the cockpit but still held eye contact with the crew.
"Hakeem, we can't judge someone when we've done and have tried to do the same thing ourselves," Oscar looked directly toward Blake and Yang.
"You're not saying-"
"He is. That's a completely different thing!"
"But if you were to see the death of your family and friends, watched them die more than three times in front of your eyes powerless, how would you react at that moment?" Oscar asked, looking down. The question hung in the air like a bat hanging in the cave. This made everyone quiet, Weiss nodding her thanks, to which Oscar nodded back, making their way to Atlas.
Leap of faith off the building into the snow, Hakan got up and brushed himself off, walking towards the entrance of the door. Despite the curfew that the General had put on the city, Hakan had stayed there on top of the roof, using his semblance from time to time. Knocking on the door, the woman answered in a robe, a smile on her face.
"I'm glad you can make it," she said as she took her index finger and curled it towards her. Faking a smile, Hakan gladly walked in and played along with the young woman's antics. As he walked in, the plan he had as he walked in was to fake it until he reached the girl's room. Leaning in on him, the girl started to take off his weapons piece by piece. "Let's get more comfortable, shall we?"
She's way too easy, kind of a turnoff.
"Before that, what is your name?" Hakan stopped what she was doing by grabbing her wrist, a smile still on his face.
"Oh, it's Iris. Why?"
"Well, if I'm honest, Iris, I'm not into the whole 'being easy' thing you've got going on."
"O-oh, well, I can change that if you like?"
"Very, actually, I have to use the restroom. Where is it?"
"There's one in the hall. I'll wait for you in the room."
"Good," Hakan started to walk down the hall. Once at the door, he opened it and prepared himself. Opening it, he walked down further down the hall and saw a yellow handle. Smiling, Hakan slowly opened the door and met the eyes of the little girls. Her pupils widening in fear at first and then in joy as she ran up to him and hugged the assassin. "Ok, look, climb on my back. We'll be gone before she notices," Hakan bent down and waited for her to grab on. As she did, the master bedroom door opened, and Iris walked out. "Are there more of you?" Hakan looked back and saw her nod, pointing down below, hinting at a downstairs compartment. Walking out, he saw Iris meet him in the middle of the hall, both staring at each other, a shocked expression on her face. Before he could react, the girl covered his eyes, and a powerful flash covered the room.
Letting go, the girl pointed towards downstairs. "Arahh! Stupid brat!" Hakan rushed past her and jumped down the stairs, landing on his feet with the girl hanging on tightly. Rushing out the door, Hakan made it home free, sneaking past robots, and soldiers alike, before he made his way at the shack of Robyn Hill. Knocking on the door, he bent down so that the girl could get off, but instead, she held on tighter.
"Come on, she's a friend," Hakan spoke in a soft voice. The girl responded by burying her face into his shoulder. Robyn Hill answered with a squint until she saw the little girl on his back. Her eyes had fear in them. They trusted no one. "Look, I need you to stay with her, ok. I have to go get your friends," Hakan said, making the girl let go a little, sniffling. Grabbing a handkerchief, he whipped her eyes and smiled brightly. "I'll be back, ok? She's a huntress. Protect you, ok?" The girl nodded as she walked towards Robyn.
"There's more?"
"I'm going back for them-"
"You can't go alone. It'll be dangerous."
"It'll be messy. I'll help them get out. Just be ready," Hakan turned and started to jog back into the darkness. Again repeating the same pattern, he put stones in specific areas to remember where to go, even though his night vision helped him out more. Back at the house, he climbed the building, seeing the window open, with knotted-up blankets, from the girls' room. Brave little girl, she has heart. Pulling himself into the room, he saw the door was now closed, and then it dawned on him. Wouldn't she have noticed this? Bursting through the door, he saw fire coming from below, sliding down the railing. He ran through the house and searched, using his eagle vision to look while the fire spread quickly, desperately. "Gas, this woman has no regard for the kid's lives!"
Spotting a door being banged on, he took out his rifle and pointed towards the handle."Step away from the door!" Firing a shot of his sniper, the door handle blows up, causing it to swing in that direction. Moving to the doorway, he saw a teen around 14 years old cough as the smoke filled their lungs."How many are there?" Hakan asked as he reached for his hand, which the girl gladly take.
"One more, he's passed out from all the smoke!"
Taking his gun and firing at the front door, causing it to explode outward, making the door fly off its hinges. Sliding across the wet asphalt to a stop, Hakan helped the girl get the little boy out of the house, coming face to face with Iris, holding a katana in her hand.
"Azure!" Hakan whistled, making the bird fly downward on his forearm. "Follow her. She'll show you the way, Azure na!" Hakan commanded, making the bird screech out as the house lit up behind them. Transforming his sniper into a spear, he readied himself as the young girl struggled to get to the alleyway. Iris smiled and pointed her weapon towards the young ones and fired, to no avail. Blocking the shots, Hakan twirled his spear again, getting into a fighting stance.
"I knew you were some form of fighter with that on your back, but are you a huntsman?" Iris called out as she stared at the assassin. Not responding, Hakan relaxed his body and took a step forward, watching her movements. Iris smiled and twirled the katana and rushed forward, slashing diagonally. Blocking, Hakan pushed her off and swung horizontally with the back end of the spear, only for Iris to lean her body backward, making a popping noise in her back as she dodged. Backhandstanding away, she landed on her feet, smiling as she stared at the assassin. Hakan flipped the spear, transforming it into a sniper firing shots off towards her, the bullets ringing in the night. Iris flicked her writs and blocked one bullet as another quickly exploded in her face, pushing her back. Landing into a roll, she stopped while sliding across the ground, stopping on her back.
Rushing in now, Hakan changed the form again into a spear leaping into the air and threw it with deadly accuracy towards her shoulder, piercing it and stabbing it into the ground.
"AHH!" Iris screamed out in pain, holding her shoulder, trying to move the weapon from it. Hakan landed and walked forward, his eyes not being shown thanks to his hood. "Your no huntsman! They don't harm innocent!"
"Innocent? Your no innocent!" Hakan moved her jacket to the side, seeing if she had an insignia on her or not. Though she did not, there was another thing that made his blood boil. On her neck was a list of tattoos, covered thanks to shirts and jackets. They were names of kids crossed out and the date of their deaths. Activating his hidden blade, her eyes widened in fear as she saw the weapon.
"Y-your!" Iris started to tear up as Hakan bent down, looking her in the eye. Stabbing into her neck, blood splurted out as she let out a gasp at the sudden pain, but she didn't make a sound as he pulled the blade out, making the world cave in on itself.
Confession zone
"you're the one who waits in the shadows! You're who they warned me about!"
"They?"
"This group, it's where the children come from. They forced me to treat them the way I did!"
"Even locking them up in the basement?"
"N-no, but!"
"Who are the people?
Hakan deepened his voice a little, the women taking in short breaths as she tried to find the words.
"T-they have the spot! I-It's downtown at the worse halves of the town, you won't miss it. The place is called the giver. A man under the Schnee order is in charge there!"
"I see. Rest in peace."
Slowly the world started to form again until the world came back into its former self. Once it did, Hakan deactivated his hidden blade and rushed away from the scene as atlas knights started to pour at the streets. Making his way back towards the shack, he meets up with Robyn and the kids from Iris. Upon walking back into the door, the first girl he helped ran up and hugged his leg, stopping him from advancing further. Smiling as he hugged her back, the assassin got down to his knee and held her shoulder.
"See, that wasn't too bad now, was it?"
"Thank you for saving us. How can we repay you?" The eldest of the group of children walked up, bowing her head towards him.
"Live, as long as you can fight, live, that's the best thing you can do for me," Hakan looked at her and nodded with determination. The 14-year-old smiled, and a tear dropped from her eye.
"Thank you. Thank you so much!" Getting up and patting her shoulder, he turned towards the group's huntress, signaling her that he has information.
"Don't mention it. Now I have to speak with my fellow huntsman," Hakan smiled and started to walk with Robyn Hill out of earshot. "Apparently, there is more, before Iris died-"
"Died?!" Robyn Hill couldn't help but raise her voice. But she quickly regretted it as she looked towards the children who were smiling turn towards them for a short second, and then went back to what they were doing beforehand.
"Yes, she didn't let me help her before she took her own life," Hakan raised his hand, showing the blood from it.
"I see..."
"Before she died, she told me of another location down in the worse parts of Mantle. It's called the giver-"
"That place... I know where it is! I knew it was sketchy from the moment I saw it. Let's hatch a plan," Robyn Hill walked further into the shack, snapping her fingers getting everyone's attention. "I'll have to cancel the plans tomorrow. We have kids to save," Robyn Hill demanded the attention with her voice. "We're going there to save some kids," Robyn Hill pointed at the shop in the middle, looking around.
"The giver?"
"Why?"
"Because, according to our ally here, he has had contact with one of those who bought some children form the area, we'll let the atlas know, but f they refuse to do anything, then we'll do it our way! So listen up!" Robyn Hill went over the plan to her group, going over each detail. "So buddy got the plan?"
"The names Hakeem, Let me know when it's started," Hakan turned and started to walk towards the door.
"Right, look for the light in the sky, the red one,"
"Roger, that."
With that, Hakan walked out of the shack and made his way across the street. Looking up, he saw a figure on top of the roof. This grabbed his curiosity as he climbed up the building and started to walk towards the figure. Unbeknownst to him, however, different types of dust were scattered across the roof, like a trigger to a mousetrap. Once you make one wrong move, it could be life-threatening. Steeping on one, making it break, a chained reaction caused an explosion, and a flurry of dust activated, making the building crumbling from the massive amount of explosions. Jumping back as the explosions knocked him off his feet, the cold air flowed through his skin and hair as he plummeted towards the ground hitting the pavement. Bouncing on impact, Hakan slid on the icy ground a couple of meters away from where he landed, looking up to see someone stand in front of him.
"I want to see... How far you've really come!" Zack's voice hit his ears as he reached for the swords on his back. Hakan got up and stared down the former Templar, reaching for the two pistols and changed them into daggers, not taking an eye off him. Both looked at each other, either waiting on the other to move. Hakan knew what Zack's weapons were like and took a step back.
"Let's move this-"
Before Hakan could finish his sentence, Zack rushed him, slashing diagonally for the chest, to which Hakan weaved back in time, dodging the attempt before blocking another chop at his head. The blades sparked together as they rubbed off one another, neither getting a clear advantage. Pushing off, Hakan went for a sweep with his leg, but Zack jumped much to Hakan's anticipation, sliding his left foot on the ground and going with a high roundhouse kick with his right leg from the ground, he hit Zack in the arms, aiming for the chest. Zack had put his arms up to protect himself once he realized what was happening, taking in most of the blow from the decision. Sliding while still on his feet, Zack smiled a little seeing the assassin performing far better than he had remembered.
"I see you aren't the same anymore..." Zack readied himself again, tensing up his body, only for the door to the shack to open up rather ferociously. Looking to the left, seeing a group of armed huntresses, including Robyn Hill, he sighed and looked at the assassin who wasn't in a fighting stance. "Looks like this party is interrupted by unwanted guests! Until next time headmaster!" Zack threw down a smoke bomb concealing his presence as he got away. Hakan let out a breath, looking back at the group with a raised brow.
"We heard a commotion out here and decided to check it out. Who was that?" Robyn Hill asked with a hand on her hip.
"Some idiot who wants to test my strength. But before he could, you pop up, so I'm expecting him to come back at some point. Anyways, I need a place to stay for the night. Any suggestions?"
"You can stay here!" The sheep faunas yelled out, much to a surprise, as she received surprise glances form her group.
"Yeah... You can, but only for the night!" Robyn Hill put extra parentheses on the night.
"I got it, I wouldn't want to stay here for too much longer anyway," Hakan walked in being lead by the sheep girl inside.
